The latest high-end steakhouse in town, DeGraff's Restaurant & Tavern might be giving the locals a run for their money! My wife and I were never bar-hoppers, so the idea of visiting the old "Hot Rod's" venue was never more than a household joke, until coming under new ownership and being updated by the DeGraff's partners. Can't say we were ultra-enthusiatic about the brown-on-brown color scheme, though the new sign on the eastern exterior wall did tie everything together pretty nicely. We popped in on a whim today, and are really glad we did! Service was good (thank you Jessica), food was delightful, and we had the pleasure of speaking with both a manager and an active partner in the business. We were well attended-to and had an enjoyable lunch at DeGraff's. We began with the loaded fries (recommended by our server), which were a great start! We had seen a handful of classy promotional food photos just prior to the grand opening, and I must admit that my eyes told me those fries would be bland. As much as I hate to admit my mistake, DeGraff's house fries are exceptionally good! While the appearance mimics that of my junior high cafeteria's dried-out "oven fry," these slightly large, french cut potatoes are an exceptional mix of texture and flavor. When topped with a great mix of REAL BACON and cheddar cheese provided by this dish, the flavor profile becomes a tasty and substantial prelude to the entrees. As a side note, we both really enjoyed the house ranch: tastes like it's house-made, not-too-thick not-too-thin, similar to our home made recipe. While we weren't feeling quite wealthy enough to purchase from the steak menu, we both tried wanted to try recommendations from our server that were more "lunch friendly." I decided upon the Jekyl & Hyde burger, while my wife & infant child shared a Spud & Salad. Based upon my brief conversation with our server, I decided upon the Ghost-pepper cheese for an "Extra kick." While I was slightly nervous about the potential onset of spicy-induced hiccups, I was relieved to discover that the Ghost-pepper cheese was relatively tame, but provided a welcome heat to the back half of the bite. Very nice. The texture of my burger was more like a house-ground mix than a store bought ground-beef, and the cook & flavor were good. The included chips were cooked spot-on, and perfectly seasoned. My only criticisms are that the bun was pretty thick relative to the fillings, and that there really wasn't any cream or comfort factor that I was hoping for. I'll chalk it up to my mistake, since I'm a first-timer. My wife's Spud wasn't particularly unique, though she really enjoyed the details that were included. The butter was whipped in a manner that allowed easy distribution without consuming any "big clumps." (her words, not mine). I also noted that the salad was fresh (apparently difficult for MOST restaurants to accomplish in Shawnee) and that the croutons were light and crunchy. Her only real complaint was that the green onions (which we love in most settings) were prepped too large relative to the rest of the dish. Cut them a little smaller, please. So all in all, this was a solid A-. The difficulties of opening a new restaurant are pretty apparent to us in seeing new servers in a new business. But nonetheless, the owners seem interested and the servers are trying their best. The venue looks nice and smells good. We hope to be back soon to try more of this menu. We would recommend that you allow all of your servers to try each of your desserts "off the record," so even if the dessert contains alcohol, the under-21 servers can offer an intelligent response to pertinent questions related to the dessert that contains Sherry (we could barely taste it). P.S. Music in the men's restroom is too loud. Minor but simple/worthy fix...

Shawnee loves a new restaurant and they create such demand during the honeymoon period. We were there once while new and then again later on, this time on their new deck out back. We love a good al fresco dining experience, and this one would be great if it wasn't on the west side, wasn't adjacent to the kitchen door, employee parking and trash. The management really seems to try, but the servers and average food tell us a different story. I want great dining in Shawnee, so I hope this place really ups their game to the next level. C'mon, guys!

Went here for a company event so we had the private room to ourselves. There's a giant projection screen in there where we watched the Thunder game while we ate and drank till our heart's content. The waitstaff was wonderful and very good at checking in on drinks, which can be especially challenging for such a big party. The food was excellent, and the cocktails were superb. I highly recommend their Moscow Mule if you're looking for an adult beverage here. Be warned, the desserts aren't messing around! You definitely want to have a friend to share them with.

Great new place in Shawnee! This is just what Shawnee needed. The food is great, the menu offers both high end steaks and entrees as well as more casual sandwiches. The dining room is open and suitable for kids, there is also a bar area, with a few TVs but nothing that takes away from the atmosphere. I highly recommend this to anyone

Food and service has been great the two times I have had the pleasure of visiting De Graff's. I have been looking for a restaurant to make me feel like the education I paid for was not or nothing. Lately, food service has shown me they are losing their love for Culinary Arts. Here, the tables aren't crowded, they look beautiful. The lighting is chill, romantic, personal. I knew, as soon as the water bottle hit the table, I was in a place I could appreciate. It was fine already. No teeny boppers. No gum chewing. No yelling across the restaurant. I can only imagine what the line is like. I bet it's delightful. It isn't too fancy here, though; they brought me the mustard bottle. ;) ANYWAY, this time I have decided to just have a couple of drinks. So far so good.

I'm a local to the area my whole life. This is exactly what Shawnee has needed for years and so glad it finally happened.. Great food from wide menu in a great atmosphere owned by great local people.

The service was excellent. The steaks were really tender and moist, but the steak did not have a lot of flavor. The Mac and cheese was cold when I receive it. It was my mother -in-laws birthday and the staff did not even offer her a slice of pie for her birthday. The staff hovered over you the whole time . Really too expensive for what you get.

We love Degraffs! It's by far a new Shawnee hot spot. Staff is always pleasant, the food is amazing, & the atmosphere is like classic tavern. We are regulars, love it!

We had a variety of entrees, drinks, and appetizers. Lobster macaroni, Queens Cut (filet) x2, Super Gyro, and Bourbon Chicken, all wonderful. Surprised that such a variety of dishes were all cooked to perfection. Our server Jo was attentive and not over bearing. We never felt rushed. Clean & Classy atmosphere! Very happy to have this in Shawnee!

Great Burger, quality ingredients, awesome beef! Amazing Handbreaded chicken fried steak & good gravy! Staff is very friendly & happy to have you. Even the manager checked in with us. Lovely ambiance, dark, cool & relaxing. Check this place out!! Only downside is we can't come back, we were just passing through the state!

Every single person I know in Shawnee is in love with this restaurant and I seriously can not figure out why. I've been there a few times really trying to find something worthwhile and finally have to just call it. The food is mediocre at best with pre-made burger patties and dry bland fries, pasta, and most everything else I have tried. The nachos were pretty good, but who wants nachos for dinner? The cocktails are weak, the service isn't great. They are pretty flexible with large parties which is nice, however, the last time we were there we were given our checks and essentially ushered out the door 2 hours before closing. When we had intentions of spending a lot more money on drinks and food, I don't understand why a large, well behaved group would be essentially asked to leave. Weird. I'll probably be back as, like I said, people in Shawnee have a weird infatuation with this place, but it will be grudgingly.

One of the finest restaurants is Shawnee OK. Excellent food, very good service and a comfortable environment. A very nice place to go when you just want something a little special.

I was pretty excited I eat at DeGraff's. I have a friend that works in the kitchen and I'm always hyped about places that have "tavern" in the name. However, I was somewhat let down by my experience this weekend. The long and short of it comes down to the quality of service. I won't generalize and say all the servers are bad, but ours in particular seemed a little scattered and my wife and I felt as though there were tables he was responsible for that were more important than ours. It showed in some of the balls he dropped. At any rate, the portions are slightly small for the price, but I'm a fatty so I won't fault them there. Food- 9 out 10 Atmosphere- 6 out 10 Service- 4 out 10 You should still eat there though. The food really is good.

Service was very good. Loaded fries were also good, not real greasy, bacon very crunchy. Burger not so good, burnt black on the outside dry with a weird onion soup flavor. Didn't finish it, will not order it again.

Everything we got was awesome, service was amazing. The Jeckyl burger was amazing especially with the Hyde add on. My only knock would be the 7 layer dip was more of a salad then a dip. We will be returning soon.

I just LOVE It! My new favorite in Shawnee. We needed a great locally owned and operated restaurant! The atmosphere is charming, the wait staff are friendly and fun, and the drinks are Great! The food is Amazing. Everything is fresh and tasty. I could have sworn they just picked the salad and washed it, to put on my plate! The steak is full of wonderful flavor and the lobster mac and cheese is homemade! This is a very unique dining experience.

While on a cross country road trip my mom and I stumbled upon this place. What good luck! We were so impressed that I decided it deserved my first ever yelp review. The fish tacos and chips and salsa were the bomb!! Even as good as Wahoo's fish tacos which is saying something. Will go again if I ever stop through.

Well I gave degraffs a second shot. I can say that the interior is very nice and pleasant and service was pretty good. I ordered the chicken sandwich I can't remember the name of. It was a chicken breast with fried onions bacon and barbecue sauce with fries. My wife ordered some chicken stir fry stuff with rice. I have to say the sandwich was just ok not great by any means. my wife's stir fry tasted like it came from a bag in the freezer. She had taken what she had left for lunch the next day and said it actually tasted better as left overs. I didn't finish my sandwich cause I found myself liking the chips and salsa better than the sandwich itself. I think this place your actually paying for the atmosphere than anything. I really don't see me going back. It's a lot like the brick town brewery just ok.
