First of all I'm visiting from Texas....I'm Hispanic (Mexican Heritage), I speak Spanish very well....but going to Oklahoma I get confused for being a Native American...especially Cherokee. Anyways, I'm trying to make a point here! I stop by this place because I'm missing home and my two boys are hungry. I walk in and wait for about 5minutes, so I automatically assume that its one of those places where you choose your table. No problem, I dig that. So I'm walking towards a table and I get stopped by 3 servers (2males, 1 female). I say no, I'm just picking my table. But the head server tell me he will take me to a table. Fine with me...we are hungry! As I'm walking by the male server (that is to be our server!) tells the female server in Spanish "Who does this Indian think she is, walking in here trying to pick her own table?!" And they both laugh about it. So I turn around and say in Spanish "Good day, lets hope the service around here isn't as bad as the employees remarks about customers!" Talk about akward to them!! The female server scurried away never to be seen again and our server looked like he had just seen Death himself! Food was ok. I had chicken flautas. I've had better. My husband got the same thing and I told our server....the same one with the rude remark.....that he was allergic to avocado...and I said it in Spanish!! Needless to say, yep it came out with guacamole on it....we sent it back. The second one came out....and yet again, all they did was try to scrape the guacamole off the lettuce........shit, really incompetent people! So here I go again, telling our dumb waiter that my husband is deathly allergic to avocado....no guacamole anywhere!!! The head server comes to our table to apologize about the mistakes and that there will be a new dish brought out for us. I also waited for our server to come around so that I could tell the head server the remark he had made towards me. He apologized for that and the our server just stood there like a bump on a log. What a fool! I hate to be ugly like that towards people, especially since I worked as a waitress in a ton of places and know how it is. But walking in there and hearing that remark was my first impression of this place. I bet the food could have been better if I already didn't have that bad taste in my mouth from his remark to begin with. I just can't bring myself to come here again....even though I miss home!! I did love the decor though. I love all their tables, chairs, and booths!

From the looks of the outside, you think it's a dive and there's no way there'll be space for many people inside. Well, they know how to pack 'em in! AND the decor is psychedelic! For Mexican, the food is one of the best in Shawnee--more authentic than most. My Puerto Rican friend confirms this.

Love this place! My favorite is Camarones am Mojo de Ajo, shrimp in garlic sauce fajitas. My husband likes the Carne Asada. Always want to try their desserts, but too full at the end of the meal. Love their queso and chips...mmmm. Have had only less then the best from them once, just didn't seem they were on their game....but still delicious. I also couldn't find an online menu so I'll be uploading it here.

This place was a arm pit, nasty tacky decor, ordered the enchalida dinner, recieved a giant plate of lettuce with three paper thin (what i have no idea). First and last visit

I'm not really a big fan of Cazadorez. My experiences there have been poor overall. On a recent visit I was left standing at the front of the restaurant waiting for 10 minutes for someone to direct me to a table. This would be understandable had they been extremely busy, but there were many open table available. Moreover, multiple servers walked by without even acknowledging that I was there. I admit that this was not a promising start to a place I had read and heard good things about and was looking to give another chance. I'd had chicken enchiladas on a previous visit and wasn't impressed. Once I was finally seated, the meal moved in a positive direction. Cazadorez serves a queso blanco which is significantly better than the queso offerred by other Mexican restaurants in Shawnee. After this pleasant surprise, I was willing to overlook the rocky start and was looking forward to my main course. Unfortunately, this is where the wheels fell off. I ordered huevos con chorizo, one of my favorite dishes. It looked good when it was brought out, but when I took my first bite the taste of salt was overwhelming. I took a few more bites, but that was all I could handle before I started feeling sick. I ended up leaving 90% of the food on the plate untouched. I don't know if it was the chorizo they use or a mistake in preparation, but my food was inedible. The service was slow, but was friendly and professional. I like the decor as well. The queso alone merits an extra star, but I can't get past that salt.

Don't listen to the other reviews. This is our favorite place to eat. Fajitas are amazing. $1.99 margaritas are to die for. They are mixed perfect! Try it before you make your decision.

My fiance and I have been to Cazadorez about five times since we moved to Shawnee in August. It looks a little run down, the ceilings are kind of wonky and sometimes the sweeping get neglected between tables but I can attribute that to them being pretty steadily busy and with reason. The service is almost always speedy, polite and good about refills. On our last visit we did get a rather green server but I am sure that after he works a little longer he will pick up some tips from the pros who mostly work there. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but my fiance loves it. He orders the giant burrito or fajitas. I usually go for the Sophia Especial, which is a quesadilla (the only one on their menu) with spinach, tomatoes and onions. I love it and the tortilla it comes on is big and fluffy. The Tamales are very good as well and taste very fresh. The Margaritas are the main selling point for me. They have several different varieties available but the $1.99 basic will do the trick. It is served in a smallish wine glass but there is plenty there. They don't taste like they come from a mix and whoever makes them is not stingy with the liquor. I have a good time whenever we go there. They would benefit from a steam clean and outdoor seating (but I am not sure what the laws are about that in this area). I highly recommend for a fun Date Night or Girl's Night.

Great place for good food if you aren't in a hurry. The atmosphere is great, the food is tasty, and the service friendly. A perfect place for a relaxing Mexican meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
