Ok all I need to say is OMG. I will not go back to this place. My husband and I went on a whim because we felt like a drive and well I wish we would have stayed home. JL's was just barely acceptable. I ordered the 2 meat combo and so did my husband. I had the pork and beef and it was terrible. The beef was sliced like roast beef sandwich meat and the pork was soaking in juice. Not like BBQ I am used to. I like smokey meat and this was not even close to tasty. My husband got ribs and sausage and he said the sausage was over cooked and the ribs were just alright. The sides: baked beans tasted out of the can and the meat and flavor they added was not a great combo. The corn on the cob was ok but that is hard to mess up. My husband also had the greens beans and he said they also tasted from a can and no flavor. I was so shocked that JL's was so busy but maybe other people like the BBQ when we did not.

My family has been visiting JL's for years - definitely one of my dad's favorite places to eat. The portions on the sides are HUGE, they can be shared no problem! I don't feel like i'm paying for nothing when I eat here. The sandwiches are not piled super high, but it's a good portion. I had the bologna sandwich with potatoe wedges and left with a box. Several tables in 3 different dining rooms, and they have private rooms that can be reserved. Free refills on the drinks, and thankfully there's a soda fountain in the middle of the restaurant so you don't have to go back up to the front to refill your cup. That station also has to-go containers for your convenience. If you're in Pryor, or the surrounding area, it's worth checking out!

Have eaten here. Been 6 - 8 months ago. So not sure what we ate, but i remember we liked it. Still have the cups we got here. Good food!

It was pretty good. They had bologna which the man loves so we had to try it. It had a slight kick & was better than any other bologna that I've had - which is not much. The BBQ chicken has a kind of sweet glaze on it that I didn't like much but it was juicy. Will peel the skin off & put in a salad tomorrow. Cole slaw & beans were both good.

We need more places like this! It seems like cities are being overrun by chain restaurants that do their cooking in the microwave and get their frozen, processed foods out of a bag. Jl's Bar-B-Q is a totally unique experience. It is a bit out of the way for us, but we would gladly make the drive for BBQ of this quality. (side note/tip, you can also stop at the Amish Cheese house on the way to the restaurant and grab some delicious, homemade goodies) When you happen upon Jl's, you are driving down a mostly barren, small town road. Closes businesses and retro signs dot the road here and there. Keep on driving until you see the big yellow letters of Jl's Bar-B-Q. The ambiance on this place is really fun. Signed $1 bills from random customers and passer by's dot the walls. They have a vintage penny mechanical horse and batmobile. Random roadsigns and building materials make up the interior. You grab your tray and fill your cup with whatever beverage you desire. Pass by the dessert fridge, and then you place your order. What to get?!...I can vouch for the bologna and the ribs. The ribs are some of the best I have ever eaten in my life! They are super tender, just falling apart, and they are crusted with a delicious rub. The bologna isn't just plan bologna that they call BBQ, like most restaurants. They actually do a dry rub on outside of their bologna and smoke it to delicious perfection. When you order sides like fried okra and potato wedges (my two faves), they use a measurement of two heaping handfuls! You will not go hungry here, even if you order just a sandwich, they pile the food one. I like to order extra and take it home for leftovers, because trust me...you WILL want leftovers. Some other added perks of this restaurant. They have a serve yourself BBQ sauce section. You can have as much regular, spicy or sweet and sour sauce that you would like. They also have "to go" containers and lids for the sauce. They have a fountain station in the dining area as well as plenty of to go boxes, paper towels, etc...they don't nickel and dime you here. They just give you good food and plenty of extras to go with it. If you've never tried this place, you must make the pilgremage. You'll be happy you did!

JL's was recommended to us by several locals, and we made the stop for lunch while driving on highway 69. It's really an easy stop off the highway and you can get in and out in probably 30 minutes. The quantity of food is absurd. I ordered the chicken strip dinner (for lunch) which comes with two sides for only $7.99. I was trying to take full advantage of being in the south, so I chose beans and fried okra as my sides. The helping of okra filled the plate; the helping of beans filled in the gaps; the chicken piled high on top of the sides; and if that wasn't enough, apparently the dinners come with toast, so they piled that on top, too. The meal wouldn't have been complete without the sauces. They have a separate buffet line for the sauces - mild, hot, and sweet & sour. I got all three and it was the best choice I made all day. Those three in addition to the gravy with the chicken had my taste buds dancing. I dipped each bite into a different sauce, and it couldn't have been any better. The okra and beans didn't quite live up to the expectation I had - too much breading on the okra and the beans were too sweet - but that doesn't mean they weren't good and that I wouldn't give them a second try. JL's is definitely the best option if you're traveling through Pryor and want a quick but tasty meal.

We were in town for business and several locals recommended JL for dinner. This is BBQ severed in a cafeteria style, with bologna, ribs, pull pork, brisket, fried chicken and barbecue chicken. The brisket that I had was great, and the beans are a meal to themselves. My partners both enjoyed their food. My reason for the three star rating is "appearance". If you are from a bigger market you may not like the place. There was a collection of stuff out side the restaurant that made the place look dumpy. Also, they have a way to go keeping the restaurant clean and organized in appearance. However, if you don't mind the little things, you will enjoy the food, HUGE portions, I will go back. E

Well worth the drive from Tulsa to enjoy the fall-off-of - the bone ribs! The generous portion sizes of the meat and sides (we always get the broasted potato wedges and bbq beans) allow us to take a box home to enjoy for lunch another day.

I travel to Pryor only about twice a year and I stop at JL's each time. It's consistently good every time and the portions are large. The place is clean and prices are good also.

JL's is really good if you find yourself in Pryor and want some BBQ. The restaurant is large, and they have the de riguer BBQ staple of paper towels on the tables. It's a comfortable place to eat. The food is served cafeteria style when you come in...the portions are HUGE. I had the beef which I assumed would be brisket but it was more like thinly sliced roast beef. I had fries and green beans as my sides ~ fries were good but I wasn't crazy about the green beans. They were cooked with beef and I thought they had an odd flavor. I tried my dining companion's baked beans and they were awesome ! Fried okra was great too. Don't expect frills when you go but the food is quite good !

I'd go out of my way for really good BBQ and I wouldn't go out of my way for this. Still, it hit the spot after a long day of driving. Pretty good ribs and sauce. Beans were very good. Corn on the cob had soaked way too long. The restaurant is cafeteria style and pretty low key. Locals seem to dig it and many of the staff knew many of the customers. If you're debating stopping for the night and you're really hungry or driving another hour (like we were), stop here and relax. If you're not that hungry or tired, keep moving.

Another perfect place to check out the local flavor of dining in Pryor OK. Food here was OK. A very interesting place. We were struck by the presentation and you have to go to appreciate it. I can not do it justice by writing here. One thing I will say is that large portions, realistic prices, and a real comfortable eating area.

We have 4 younger children and everyone was well-fed and satisfied. The cafeteria style serving is perfect for restless little ones. The food still seemed reasonably fresh. Excellent ribs and onion rings. Cole slaw was finely chopped, creamy, but not over the top. Chicken was decent. Bonus on the complimentary jalapeños and dill pickles.
