You know you're in an authentic Mexican restaurant when you can barely read the menu. There were a lot of Spanish words on there that I didn't recognize. It's definitely not like a typical Tex-Mex restaurant. I wanted to try the tamales but they didn't have any available since they're homemade and take a long time to cook. I settled for the enchilada dinner. It came with an egg on top which I'm not used to. I was impressed with the food. The plate was filled to the brim with food. You really get your money's worth! They gave us a couple of bottles of sauces. They weren't labeled so I have no idea what was in them. I tried both and I recommend the green sauce. It was spicy and I liked the unique flavor even though I can't explain what it tasted like. You'll experience a language barrier depending on who you talk to. A girl who looked like she was 12 took our orders. There were other waitresses and they all looked too under aged to be working IMO. The neighborhood wasn't the greatest but I didn't think it was dangerous by any means. It was only a mile from downtown.

Visited this place for the second time and it's still goods. The place is never packed but the food is amazing. Usually there are only one or two tables filled so don't be scared of that. It's worth the food. The restaurant does have tv on so you can watch soccer or telenovela, if your into those things. Make sure you bring cash though, they don't take card. I ordered a Horchata and tamale plate. The Horchata was so delicious, it was just right. I could drink this for days but it won't end well. I will say part of one of my tamale was a little burnt/crunchy but still good. When you get there they serve chips, salsa (spicy), and some sort of queso. The price point is still good so I would recommend going. This is on the south side so bring a friend if your not comfortable going by yourself. My friend got a fish plate and boy they give you a whole fish so if you don't like that don't order it.

This place is straight up, mom/pop Mexican food cooking! And it's a breathe of fresh air to find a place like this in Oklahoma City! Reminded me of places my mom would take me to in East Los Angeles (a well known Mexican district of the LA area), the place is in a older sector of Oklahoma City and I believe in what seems to be a small pocket of a Latino community in OKC I tried the tamales with carnitas and it was GREAT! I can't remember if I order horchata (a rice/cinnamon drink) but if I remember right they didn't have it... you also get the typical chips and salsa stuff, rice and beans with your meal The place is very family owned business vibe and the guy at the counter was also serving as my waiter, he did speak english but I could see he seemed to be a immigrant and was still learning the language, I obliged him and spoke what Spanish I knew to help him in ordering what I wanted, the tamale dinner was around $11 IMPORTANT: This place is cash only, I had to learn the hard way when I realized it was and the waiter was extremely nice and told me it was okay, he was going to let me eat my dinner without paying, but I felt so bad I went to the chase bank near by and brought back some cash to pay for my meal. So please if you go to this place bring some cash! Also some other cool stuff... they have at the counter Mexican candy, I saw some gum that I used to see being sold in Mexico a lot, they are small pieces of gum served in small clear packets of 4 a piece, I highly recommend anyone to try it out sometime cuz it tastes great! If you want some good home style Mexican food, come to El Milagro!

Some items were better than others. They provide you with complimentary chips, queso, roasted pepper salsa, and green salsa (see photo). The things to avoid when eating here: ...the orange "nacho cheese" tasting queso, it tastes exactly like the kind you get at the movie theater and it was cold. Yuck. ...the asada meat, it tastes very "cow-e" and it kinda grossed me out. Maybe it needed more seasoning?? ...the licuado smoothie drinks, it was served "room temperature" (it's supposed to be cold), and it wasn't very tasty. Mainly just tasted like chocolate milk, I ordered it with strawberries and bananas in it as well, and I couldn't taste the strawberries at all. Things you can eat here: ... the shrimp ceveche tostadas are good. Maybe the best thing they served. ...the adobada taco was tasty. I've never had this kind of taco before. It was pork with pineapple chunks in a red chili type sauce. At first I thought that the pineapples were just chunks of fat and I was removing them, then I tried one of the chunks and was pleasantly surprised! This place features a large menu besides just serving tacos, but overall I was unimpressed with this restaurant compared to other taquerias I have been to. They just don't offer enough great tasting tacos (or anything else) to make me want to come back. But that's just me, I wish them luck. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly.

Fresh ingredients, authentic, great service, very affordable, and extensive menu selection! The tacos and gorditas were excellent. I want to try out their breakfast next time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
