Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

UPDATE!!!: After receiving a email from the manager, we returned and it was fantastic! Since then we have returned twice in the past 3 weeks. The last two waitresses we had were amazing and very knowledgeable about the menu. I can't remember the first girls name but the second lady Patty, was extremely convincing about the alcoholic drinks and desert! Both times were amazing, ordering the triple appetizer again, and everything was good on it. The burger I ordered wasn't burnt and the food also came out very quickly. So glad we returned with the managers help!

It's been a while since I have visited a Friday's. My first time was probably about 25 years ago as a kid. Even this many years later, I remember that the ONLY impressive part of the experience was the fact I was eating out at a restaurant. That's it. Visited a couple more times in different states, and once again left unimpressed. I haven't returned in almost 10 years until tonight when a friend celebrating his birthday decided he wanted to eat here. The food itself was meh at best. I ordered the pick three appetizer because the entrees just weren't that appealing to me. What does it say when you can get better Friday's loaded potato skins from the freezer section at your grocery store than you can at an actual Friday's? I'm not really sure what they were trying to do with the potatoes here, but they were just odd. Also ordered some mozzarella sticks...came with four sticks and maybe, just maybe, about a tablespoon of marinara if that. Dip those sticks wisely. The boneless buffalo wings were probably the best part. A friend ordered the green bean fries and I will admit those were very good. I also ordered the Casamigos strawberry 'rita. It was good, but it wasn't over $11 good. Seriously, it cost just barely under the cost of my food. Of course, George Clooney partly owns Casamigos - so here's a prime example of paying for a name, because I've had better house margaritas at half the cost. We might have stayed for dessert had the service not been soooo slooooow. Our server was very friendly and all smiles, but good grief it took forever to even get our drink orders in. To give you an example, a group of cops (about one or two more than our group of five) sat down shortly after we placed our food order. They had placed their orders and received their food before we got our food even though our order was in before they even had menus in their hands. They had paid for their checks and left before we even received our checks. I don't know if people at the restaurant didn't want to offend the cops or something, but our service shouldn't have to suffer to benefit someone else who came in after us. I mean the restaurant was pretty dead. There's no reason why everything should have taken as long as it did when it was obvious that they clearly had the ability to move more quickly. All in all, it was a reminder of why I hadn't returned in all these years. I think next time I'm tempted by Friday's, I'll just head to my grocery store and grab the frozen potato skins.

I came yesterday and my food, drinks and service was perfect. I come back for day two and had to keep asking for things I shouldn't have had to. Starters I asked for extra cheese and breadsticks with a side salad. The bartender rings me in for a full salad. I tell the general manager I asked for a side salad, he said keep the full salad. I asked for the extra cheese that I was paying for. Today my breadsticks were not fresh. I had to ask for extra ranch, fresh bread sticks, extra buffalo sauce for my boneless buffalo chicken. I don't know where the bartender went , but it took him a while to come back. Hineside he never asked if I needed anything. I guess avoiding me all together. So I decided to write about my experience. Should I tip? Because service has been terrible @ the bar.

Not many chains deserve four stars. I don't claim to be a foodie or a localvore, but chains can sometimes bastardize simple menu items such as steaks or pasta dishes. Now having said that, barbecue sauce on a steak may fall into that category but the JD flat iron is pretty awesome. Menu is pretty clear and chain like as a whole but pretty well executed. Service, at least in the bar section, has always been awesome. Bartenders have a pretty good time. Want a real tip? If going to a chain restaurant as a solo or twosome, belly up to the bar. Also, if you're going to be a big group, lower your expectations. You're not even pseudo royal so calm down if things take a minute and your plate isn't perfectly symmetric. Final word. What matters is how you feel in a place and I feel pretty good here. Awesome music in the bar is a bonus.

J.D. Salinger reviews TGI Fridays: "If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is what I ordered, and what my lousy food was like, and how good my waiter was and all while I was at TGI Fridays and all that Ruth Reichl kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth. In the first place, that stuff bores me, and in the second place, my parents would have two hemorrhages apiece if I told anything pretty bad about their favorite goddam restaurant. They're quite touchy about anything like that, especially my father. They're nice and all - I'm not saying that - but they're also touchy as hell. Besides, I'm not going to tell you about my whole goodam meal or anything."

Used to love Fridays. Haven't been here in forever, but service has deteriorated since the last time I dined here. I ordered soup to be delivered with the rest of my meal. I can't say I was entirely shocked when it was brought early, but they were accommodating and took it back to the kitchen until the rest of the main dishes were served. Drinks were dry through much of the meal, but placing them and the very end of the table seemed to serve it's purpose. Hoping for and better experience next time

On february eighth at approximately 3 o'clock in the afternoon we decided to eat at Friday upon arrival we were seated at a dirty table that had to be clean as we sat there we proceeded to order our food which eventually came out upon receiving our food we began to eat and suddenly my sister in law said she was done we looked at her plate and found a hair in it although they did remake the plate you would think they would have comped it taking it off the bill completely instead they discounted $5 if this had happened to the manager of that restaurant at a restaurant that he was visiting I'm pretty certain he would have asked for his meal to be comped instead of discounted $5 due to this experience we will not be visiting this restaurant again

Ok... In full disclosure it's been 2 years since I BOYCOTTED this place for a variety of reasons. 1. I would often get lackluster service, at best(If you're working for tips, maybe being apathetic isn't the best strategy?) 2. I'd often get servers who just thought by them being there, they deserved a tip... (Maybe try refilling a drink, JUST ONCE during my meal) 3. I actually had a bartender argue with me that the food was not too overcooked (was SHE the one eating it??? Nope, but strangely, she had an opinion on it without taking a bite of my overcooked food) 4. I had THE ASSistant manager argue with ME about my taste buds (the grill was oversalted, and on this particular day I was at a birthday dinner & about 8 other people agreed with ME, but me, being a "loud mouth Yankee devil" was the only one with any balls to actually SAY anything to management. And like I said, the assistant manager basically told us all, the whole table, we were hallucinating the salt taste.... YEA FRICKING RIGHT. Useless. Utterly unprofessional response from him, too. 5. On another occasion, my male server disappeared. He decided to take his work shirt off, put on street clothes & watch the "big game" in the bar area. When I personally confronted him he said "Oh, I'm off the clock." Even though he still had an UN finished table left. But he said just leave the tip on the table after the bartender drops off the bill. The bartender was willing to lie & cover for this guy. All the manager said to me was "don't tip him". No I'm sorry. Not a "I'm sorry I have no control over my own staff that's on duty right now." Nothing. I went & put up with their BS mostly because of coupons, which they always had an attitude about me using. (I guess they're angry I got free stuff & deep discounts?) It should be noted that without promotions like endless apps & the free survey appetizer, a LOT less people would patronize your chain. Tell the servers to lose the rudeness.

Service here still rocks! Decided to retry this location and wasn't disappointed at the service and friendliness of the staff. The food on the other hand, still subpar compared to other Friday's locations in larger cities. Tried the mozzarella sticks and yet again tasted fishy. Tried a different cut of their steaks and it was just as crappy.

It sucked when I went there 4 years ago. It sucked this year. First I get an asian wrap, might as well have gone to Walmart and bought peanuts. Second time I planned on being fancy, got the salmon with cole slaw...it was a "fish stick" with 1 oz of flavorless slaw. I felt so full after everything. Full of lies. The pictures are a lie!

I've been to this Friday's once before but it wasn't memorable enough for me to recall,so I went again today for lunch to give it another go around. TGIF, MANG. except it's Thursday. I feel like I'm living a lie by going here on a Thursday. How can I expect anyone to trust me when I live like this?! The place was busy but not packed, and the service was prompt. I feel so bad for these people. Those striped shirts are hideous. Gosh. But they manage to wear them with a smile so kudos to them! My boyfriend and I got the 2 for 9.99 deal. Mine (mine mine miiiiiiine miiiine /seagull): Balsamic chicken salad 4/5: Quite tasty. But I have to say that the dressing was laid on a little thick. It wasn't mushy or soupy, but balsamic vinaigrette is a powerful dressing as it is. Hibachi chicken 3/5: 3 skewers of medium sized grilled chicken over triangles of bread (it looked sort of pita'y, but I'm not 100% sure) with a bed of cole slaw over some thin crisps. I like the cole slaw quite a lot, but the chicken was very salty. Good, but... Salty. So, a pretty good place over all. Just not somewhere I would crave to repeat. Especially as I explore more options.

This TGI Friday's is a testament to what is quality. The food, drinks, service, pricing, & ambiance are all first rate. This is a chain restaurant right? Well, yes... but don't think of it like that, rather walk in thinking your going to a locally owned restaurant called Friday. Now that you have this mind set enter their bar and start with a cocktail made with fresh herbs or a margarita made by hand to order, or even an ice cold Stella in a custom chalice. Then order an app to share & have another round of drinks and enjoy the great service that you'll get from your bartender who enjoys his or her job. After that try their Tapas style menu and pick up to five small dishes to share with your last round of drinks. Do all this during a Thunder game and it's even better. Finally pay your reasonable tab and call a cab! I should note that all the times I've been here I always enjoy the bar section so this review is for the bar.

The food was technically "good", but I was shocked by the micro sized side salad and 5 potato wedges I got with my 1/2 rack of ribs that had maybe 2 ounces of meat on it. My husband ordered the same. How expensive is lettuce and potatoes these days? Are they cutting into corporate profits? If you are going to give me a small meat portion, give me a bigger salad and a few more fries. This isn't an issue with this Fridays, this is probably all Fridays. I get a great side salad with my meal at Texas Roadhouse, red robin, Charleston's, cheddar'a, well, actually everywhere else. Red robin also gives free fries. So many other places to choose from, I won't step foot in Fridays again. Luckily we got the survey on our receipt. I promptly went home and filled it out online and didn't bother with the $8 coupon because I won't be back.

My wife and I ate here for dinner last night. Ryan was our server and he did a journeyman's job. His service was fair but lacked friendliness. To me, it seemed like he didn't want to be there. I include comments on the service because its an integral part of the whole dining experience. We got the trio appetizer, which was really good. I also ordered the petite sirloin, because my wife always has leftovers. she got the flat iron JD steak. I got mine's medium rare, and hers well done. both came out after the same amount of time. can you guess what happened next? yep... Her steak was too red for her so back it went. It came back and it was marginally better but my wife didn't want it now because they we'd burning the outside trying to cook it faster. We asked it to be boxed up and we took it home. The casual atmosphere is good however the dining room needed some attention. Tables needed to be bussed and the floor needed a good sweeping. I recommend this establishment if you REALLY like the food, other wise, there are other places with better food and service for a better price.

The strawberry fields salad is in season! Yes! Was seated quick, my server was a little grumpy as to how slow it had been. In light of this over share I expected to get excellent service since he was board. However, I guess sitting around "behind the wall" with over servers was a better use of his time. But I wasn't a very high maintenance table but had to correct 2 things about my order. Alas... anyways, good location, food was as expected. Nothing special to report.

I feel like I have a lot to say about this place! First off, I am not a fan of the food. I feel like TGI Friday's is a lower quality then the Chili's and Applebee's out there(which I am no fan of Applebee's either). We went today for Happy Hour and the Happy hour was not that amazing. You could do $2 domestic drafts (everyone does that) and you could do $6 liquor drinks. From what my friends told me the first drink was extremely strong and then the second was extremely weak. No consistency. As far as the food went, it was subpar. I didn't really car for the appetizers that we tried, potato skins, queso, and chicken fingers with fries. The fries were salty and not something that I would want to eat again and the chips were okay, nothing special. The beer was overpriced, 6 dollars for a draft blue moon. Was not impressed. The waitresses were excellent. Val was perfect, I'm not really sure why she is just a waitress, but we asked her to do a dance and she not only danced, but she rapped for us and it was pretty fantastic. I loved it. Lauren was pretty bomb. My beer was never empty and she has a personality unlike other waitresses I have known. They get 5 stars for sure. Sadly the food, drinks, and prices get two stars. If they worked elsewhere, I would be a regular of theirs for awhile. I probably won't return ever.

I could drink Jack Daniel's sauce with a straw. I would take it intravenously. I love MANY of the menu items. Yum. Their burgers are the best. Sizzling chicken is bomb. Jack daniels chicken is to die for. Sigh. My mouth is watering. I've also never had a problem with the service. Host good and welcoming. Server attentative, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Manager walked by and made sure we were good. Their special drinks are BOMB. What is there to complain about?

  • Charles K.

Food and service are generally good, but they are too institutionalized to be very flexible. I've eaten the hibachi skewers there in the past and enjoyed them. The skewers were previously available as an entree with rice and vegetables or alone as an appetizer. They have offered choice of steak or chicken on either. Yesterday, I wanted the steak skewers as an entree. The server informed me the steak was available as an appetizer only, and only the chicken can be ordered as an entree. The kitchen refused to substitute beef for the chicken. The bottom line is that they refused to throw steak skewers on a plate with rice and vegetables as they do with the chicken. Also beware of the Caesar salad. TGIF's version uses balsamic vinegar. If you offer a Caesar salad, make it a Caesar salad.

LOVE this Fridays!!!! They have great service and awesome food. They also have great happy hour specials! The manager is friendly and personable and so are the majority of the waiters. I go to this location about once a week. The only downfall to this location is the music. It is played too loud, which makes the customers talk even louder.

I hadn't eaten at a T.G. I. Friday's in decades, not since I left Texas. Back then, it was just a burger joint, trying to be a bit upscale. The burgers were really good all that time ago. They've changed. I saw somewhere that they were called an Italian restaurant. And it seems to be true, which makes me sort of sad because I loved T.G.I. Friday's for it's relaxed "the weekend is here!" burgerlicious attitude. On the other hand, I loved the dish I ate: Bruscetta Chicken Pasta. I do kind of wish it had chopped black olives on it, too, but it was delicious. They still had burgers, but they've bought into the whole Jack Daniels far too sweet sauce thing and the burgers, in my opinion, aren't near as worthy as they were back in the late 70's. I scrummidged around in my files and found an old menu from way back then (packratism is a Good Thing, never let anyone tell you otherwise) and they did a much larger variety of burgers, including a brand new guacamole burger. I remember that burger, it was the first time I'd had guacamole on a burger. Thanks to T.G. I. Friday's I've put guacamole on all kinds of things. The new T.G. I. Friday's Italian Sports Bar is good, but nostalgia wins. I'll go back for that Bruschetta Chicken Pasta, but I'll miss the guacamole burger.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
