Ate here for the first time last week - and it's pretty good. I'm sad that their roll selection features mostly fried things covered in mayo, but I think that has more to do with the Americanization of sushi places than a slight against the restaurant. Of course all this fried stuff made my two little girls super happy, so they cheerfully got down on some egg rolls and fried shrimp while I enjoyed the Hawaii Salad. And did I ever enjoy it! Great price ($9) and really fresh and delicious. They do have plenty of fresh fish, so traditional sushi is available in addition to all the super-fried stuff. PLUS! They have a wine and cocktails - not a great list, but perfectly acceptable for a tiny sushi place in a strip mall. And the best of the best news is .... THEY DELIVER. Finally, something besides pizza on the west side of town. I'm probably going to be spending a lot of time on the phone with these guys in the future.

Not all that good. The food is not terrible, but the sushi rolls reminded me of cheap sushi you get from a Chinese buffett. If you're in need of a sushi fix then this place is okay, but it is way overpriced for the quality of food. For the same price, you can find far better sushi places in Norman.

Well, for such a small place in a random strip mall, it turned out pretty good. We got the sushi boat for 2. It consisted of different nigiri rolls and sashimi. It also came with a california roll and a spicy tuna roll. The service was good but the seating is awkward. we were literally seated next to another couple and it was like we were all dining together. I beers taste weird. other then that this place is a good little find.

The sushi was very good. The staff was very nice. I ordered a Sapporo beer, which tasted fine to me. The mochi ice cream was unique and delicious. It would have been a good experience except that when I went to pay, I was charged $15 for a roll that was listed on the menu as $10. When I brought it up to the waitress, she explained that the price had recently changed and that they had crossed out the price on the menu and written over it with a marker. However, it had apparently been rubbed off on my mine. My bill was not changed. If it had not been for that I would have given this restaurant a 4 or 5 star rating.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered all our questions. We got a Nevada roll. It was very tasty and well made. We also had their gyosa appetizers which came out quickly and cooked nicely. Their ramen was very delicious and balanced nicely. Good sushi friendly staff, yummy food. Nice little spot to take a 3rd date. They also do happy hour and have some good deals. Check their Facebook.

Bad fish and expensive. Ordered two rolls, an appetizer, and two pieces of nigiri. The rolls were similar to something you would buy at a gas station. They were a worse quality than grocery store sushi. However they cost like you are ordering sushi in metropolitan area. The appetizer was fine, no problems, still expensive for a box of wakame. The nigiri was the worst offender. The maguro cuts were some of the worst of the fish possible. It tasted like a freshwater lake on a hot summer day and had a color of something similar to the muddy river bottom. No amount of wasabi and ginger was sufficient to get the taste out of my mouth. I understand I am in Oklahoma, but lower your prices if you are going to serve sub-quality fish. Standing by on the food poisoning.

I just recently moved to the area from a place with scant options for sushi, so I was very excited to try this place! After trying to decide on delivery or dining in, I decided to dine-in. It was a great choice because I made it in for happy hour! The 50 state rolls are $2 off during happy hour and all appetizers and starters are half off so I got three rolls and seaweed salad for only $30!!! The servers are kind of awkward and it's weird how they have the server counter right next to the tables, it kind of interferes with dining, which is why I knocked off a star. The taste at this place is spot-on! I got the Maine roll, and the nevada roll, and the yin and yang roll. The yin and yang roll was by far my favorite!

At first glance, Sushi Master didn't seem like it would meet our high "sushi expectations". However, we were pleasantly surprised! I got the Texas Roll & added Shrimp Tempura to their Nevada Roll. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Norman!

I enjoy a good sushi place on the West side of Norman. My wife loves the variety of sushi rolls. Each roll is attached to a state name so it makes it fun to order. She enjoys the Kansas and Nebraska rolls. I am a big fan of the ramen. It is a tonkatshu pork so the broth is milky and filling. The prices are good for a sushi place and they offer OrderUp service if you want it delivered to your home.

My new favorite sushi joint in norman. We had no idea it even existed it's kind of hidden haha. The lunch menu is affordable and delicious! I had 2 rolls for less than $8! Great deal! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I never got a refill on my water. The waitress was nice but as a former server, I think it's important to refill customers waters and check to see if they'd like another drink. Overall good experience.

Let me preface this review with my previous feelings... -love, this food is delicious -content, this place is not breaking my bank -appreciation, these people understand me and what I want Having said that, I just enjoyed 3 rolls, calamari, edamame and 4 drinks with my friend durning happy hour. The ticket came out, with all of the drinks full price (not happy hour price). The price on the receipt was not corresponding to the price of the menu in our hands. So, I asked the waitress if she could confirm that these prices were correct. She then came back and said that they were no longer allowed to discount high alcohol content drinks. I said that I can't pay for a price that's not advertised on a menu... She went to get her manager. The manager said that a new owner changed policy, and they could not discount hight alcohol content drinks. I said that I could not pay a price that was not advertised. She said that there was nothing that I could do. Anyways, at the end of the day, she brought out a new receipt that was more expensive than the previous ticket (handwritten) and we were lectured on being able to have discounted high alcohol content beverages. I loved this place, but will never go here again.

Well, this place seems to have slipped a bit. Or at least it has for lunch. I had the spicy tuna roll and the Boston roll, along with miso soup. The Mido soup isn't all too great, which it wasn't anything special when I first ate there. The spicy tuna roll did not have enough tuna in it, and tastes like sticky rice with hot sauce on it. The Boston roll has some sort of "Boston mayo" on top of it, which isn't bad, but it's way too much of a blop for the small pieces. Too overwhelming of flavor. I will have to try them one more time before I do not go any longer. It was not a good experience at all today.

I came in late about 1/2 an hour before close. They didn't rush me and made me some rolls and sushi. When I asked about the mackerel the chef said they didn't have any but generously gave me two pieces of yellowtail on the house. It's a tidy little place that does a great job making sushi in the middle of the country.

I have visited this place for lunch and was treated politely and the food was abundant for one person. (would get almost 10 pieces of sushi for lunch menu items) I took my grand daughter to dinner and it was 'bad'. bad service, bad presentation, bad tea, we received 4 pieces of sushi per order... what the heck, it's suppose to be 6 to 8 for regular places??? I felt that I was being punished for having a kid in there??? even though my 10 year old grand daughter has been sushi making herself, for almost a year now. waited for my check while the waitress chatted with the sushi chef??? wasn't pleased at all, I guess I will try another place now. overpriced for how many pieces of sushi you received and the difference of pieces from the lunch to dinner menu is wrong. won't go back

So, often times when I go to a new restaurant I will order several different items to get a good sampling of the food... Since this was my first time here, and also because I'm kind of a FA, I did exactly that here. First I would like to say the staff is extremely friendly and very nice. I do agree with others that the state names for sushi rolls are confusing... I was in need of a Philadelphia roll... Surprised it wasn't called a Pennsylvania roll according to their logic... Found it in Kansas instead. On to the food. You know, I found it to be fine but it wasn't anything to write home about. I started out with a chicken teriyaki meal that included the chicken of course, salad, fried tempura vegetables, rice, and a fried spring roll. The spring roll was good as were the fried veggies and rice. The lettuce salad was cold and crisp, and the homemade lemon ginger dressing was nice but a bit watery for my taste. The teriyaki chicken was okay, but it wasn't my favorite part of the dish. I didn't watch them prepare it, and I'm not saying this is what happened, but you know that feel/texture that chicken gets when it has been drying out all day under a heat lamp? That's what this chicken reminded me of. I was also a bit put off by the teriyaki sauce which had a surprisingly BBQ-esque edge to it. I also ordered a mixture of nigiri sushi and maki rolls. There was a slight hint of vinegar in the rice... Most people would probably not notice. This happens when the sushi rice is being prepared as it is soaked in rice vinegar and fanned in a specific traditional way. If the rice isn't fanned and the product mixed in just the right way sometimes a hint of this flavoring remains. Anyway, I also noticed that the maki wasn't rolled all that tightly and the nigiri, which is typically a piece of meat setting on top of a small bed of rice, sometimes tied together with a thin piece of seaweed, had some trouble staying together as well. These are all minor things but are things a sushi connoisseur would notice. Sushi is often times ordered for the experience as well as the utility of being food, and is often a fairly expensive food item, so I do feel like these are important details that shouldn't be missed. Overall it was a decent experience and it's nice to have a sushi option in west Norman again.

The salmon nigiri is decent quality. I'm not familiar with the sushi options in Norman so this might be pretty good for the area. The nigiri during happy hour is smaller than the normal priced nigiri. The shrimp tempura isn't actually tempura. I think it might be Panko crusted. But it's fried shrimp so it's still tasty. The edamame was very overcooked so the beans were pretty mushy.

The staff is really really nice so I couldn't bear to give them only 2 stars. I just got my car back from the dealership and had no strength to cook dinner. I decided to try Sushi Master because I always notice their Happy Hour sign from off the freeway. Luckily their HH ends at 7pm! What makes this sushi place different then most is their sushi roll menu! They created a menu of sushi based on the 50 states!! Very creative! Each roll contains some sort of element that correlates with the state. For instance, the Oklahoma has crawfish in it. Texas had a jalapeno or something spicy. The rolls come at a price though! They range anywhere from $7.00 to $15.00, the cheapest being the Cali roll. I think the rolls that have more sashimi or seafood in it were more expensive. I ended up ordering the Hawaii (California roll with fish on top, think it was Tuna and Yellow Tail), Shrimp Tempura and Calamari. The fried items were on the happy hour menu at I think half off. Only the generic rolls were available at a discount along with a few nigiri sashimi pieces- salmon, saba, I can't remember the others. The batter on the tempura and calamari is not your typical panko batter. I honestly don't know what it is- I guess maybe it's a pancake type batter? The shrimp tasted OK, but the calamari was not edible. It was stiff and tasted burnt. I ate 3 pieces and had enough of it. The sushi was maybe their saving grace because the rolls were small enough to consume in one bite and the fish was fresh, not fishy tasting at all. If you're curious to try this place out yourself, please only stick with the rolls unless you're the type that likes their fried goodies to taste like something from Sizzler (aka Wester Sizzlin for all you Okie folks.) I noticed that they might serve ramen, which is something I'd love if they cook it right! Might stop by again to have the BF test it out.

(2)Michael V.

(3)Patrick M.
Good, quality fish & rice. Nice enough atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Located in an upscale strip center. Good for lunch or dinner.
(4)Phil M.
Just arrived in town & showed up 15 minutes till closing (oh the humanity). They saw me walking up and tuned off the 'Open' sign.
(1)Ali S.
(3)Joy M.

We stopped in for dinner in a Tuesday night Didn't care for the menu as they have this state names for sushi which made it hard to figure out what you wanted Food was average we tried various items the Louisiana was decent but there are other places in the area which are significantly better. Service was good but girl was a bit confused by types of fish but she was good at staying on top of beverages Overall a 2.5-3

(4)Jesse C.
Not all that good. The food is not terrible, but the sushi rolls reminded me of cheap sushi you get from a Chinese buffett. If you're in need of a sushi fix then this place is okay, but it is way overpriced for the quality of food. For the same price, you can find far better sushi places in Norman.
(2)Philip M.
Did lunch and it was off the chain. Had the spicy tuna and 2pc salmon nigiri. Great service as last time.
(5)Stefanie I.
(3)Daniel V.
(2)Paul R.
I either get the Louisiana Roll and California or the Spicy Ramon Noodles... Both are delicious! I order pick up at least twice a week, the staff is over the top friendly and they know me by name now. Finally good Sushi Restaurant on the west side of Norman.
