What a complete mess. Took an hour for three BLT's and a grilled cheese. Staff all over the place, BUT only one woman doing anything. She was the hostess, utensil wrapper, server, and cashier. DELEGATE! Three people cooking, at least three people busing, and what seemed like three people asking if you would like a menu. Two stars because the food was ok, but it felt like with 12 to 15 tables they had no clue how to function.

Arrived today on my way from Texas to NW Arkansas. Decor is 50's w pink walls. Staff has been friendly. Bathrooms were ok. Soap dispenser held together with tape a floors were sticky. I ordered the Frito pie as an appetizer and my wife and I split it. We both enjoyed the chili which had kidney beans (which is not may favorite) but still tasty. I tried the fried Bologna sandwich for main course. The veggies were fresh and the bologna was wonderful. I would recommend this old favorite. My wife ordered the Egg salad sandwich which she ordered on Rye rather than the usual Texas Toast. She thought it was tasty and ate the whole thing (which she usually does not do). Both of us thought the fries were only so so and did not eat much of them. They were thin and seasoned with Cajun seasoning. Not our favorite. No dessert ordered as we needed to get back on the road. Prices were fair and overall experience was slightly average. Not worth a drive but ok if passing through town.

This was by far the best place I have stopped on a road trip!!! The food was really good and the staff was excellent. They were friendly, extremely accomodating, and very proud of where they worked and even gave us a mini tour of the restaurant and gave us history of their artwork and how they became the restaurant they are today. They even had reading glasses available in the steakhouse area in case you couldn't read the menu in the dim light. Next time we take a road trip to Texas I will try to maneuver our trip so we can eat here again!!!

We stopped at Angel's Diner on the way to Northwest Arkansas. It's not destination worthy but a good place to stop if you are not interested in fast food. I had the BLT which is one of the better ones I've had. The bread was toasted but soft so it didn't scrape the roof of your mouth (sometimes it's the little things) and had some very crispy and tasty bacon. It wasn't a huge sandwich but a good size. The fries it was served with were okay, they put crab seasoning on top of it which helped. My boyfriend had the fried bologna sandwich which he really liked. The service was really good and the decor is cute with a '50s theme. If you are driving through, it's a nice place to stop. BTW, it's self-seating in case you stand there wondering what to do like we did.

Mel's diner, pepto bismol pink, smiles, mullet heaven, duck dynasty beards, hot pancake syrup, weak coffee, delicious biscuits & gravy, classic rock, awesome home style potatoes, tea-party republicans, tasty sausage. Would come again.

Friendly service even if it was a bit slow. Good atmosphere and hearty diner style fare make this one of the better waypoints for food on this section of the I-75 corridor

Today was definitely not one of Angel's better lunch hours. We arrived at 11:45 AM. The diner was not even 1/4 full. We were immediately greeted and seated. A friendly server came to take our drink and food order. Then the eternally long wait began. I order a regular hamburger. My husband ordered meatloaf and two veggies. The cook must not be able to multi-task. I was sitting where I could see the line cook. He could only cook and prepare one item at a time. Really? The hamburger patties are precooked, the meatloaf is already cooked, as are the side veggies, and apparently so are the French fried since mine arrived cold. So what took do long? The server didn't know. She mentioned something about a load of chicken fried steaks being lost, but the grill cook wasn't looking for that! There was a woman helping fry foods, but maybe they aren't normally the ones getting out orders. I hate to think how terribly long the wait would have been if the diner had been actually busy like it usually at noon. I love this cute 1950's diner and hope they correct the problems before we come back through town on our way home to Dallas.

We thought it was great for what it truly is. We were impressed with the friendly service. The food was diner food, but yummy... Had a burger, salad, grilled cheese... And banana split... The decor was neat and our kids loved the bathroom and old cars... Great job! Whenever we pass back through, we will stop again.

Stopped here for breakfast based off reviews...wasn't good. My husband said the men's restroom had fly strips! If you order water (and you're not from here) beware...it tastes like straight up dirt. Order took a long time...longer than breakfast should ever take....biscuits are cold and not homemade and the gravy isn't either. We won't bee going back.

I was driving through McAlester looking for a place right off the interstate to eat dinner. For a Diner this is very good. The burgers are so juicy and cooked perfect, my fries were also perfect, not soggy at all. Had homemade banana pudding to finish it off and it was yummy too!! So in short...great services, great prices, good food, clean restaurant. I would go again for sure.

Authentic 60s styled diner feel with a very friendly staff. Solid food and the pie was great.

Amazing! Great atmosphere, food, service. Decided to stop while on 14 hour trip. Can't say enough about this place. Waiter played the part great for time period. Love it. Lemon berry marscapone pie is to die for.

Opened in 2006, bright pink interior covered with Elvis and I love Lucy memorabilia. Pretty decent diner food, really nice friendly staff. Fun place to start off the day with pancakes.

I love diners and Angel's did not disappoint me. I was immediately greeted by three different people when I walked in, and my waitress offered me a drink before I had settled at my table. As far as the food is concerned, it's diner food. If you're looking for gourmet, go elsewhere. It was all you could expect from a diner. The portions were large, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was delightful. If I am ever in McAlester again, I will definitely eat at Angel's. I'm planning on eating there tomorrow.

Family and I were on a road trip passing through. We were thinking we might just have to eat one of the cows we had been passing since there was simply Nothing out this way. Yelpers to the rescue! This diner ended up being 50s themed mana from heaven. Don't know how long it had been out here but if you ever come through this way, I recomend the chicken fried chicken (or steak) and little Ricky's bottle caps.

Stopped by here on the way back to Dallas, and our group of four was very happy with the food and service. We all had burgers and they were out to us in record time (granted it was pretty vacant; 4:45 on a Thursday). Veggies on them were fresh, buns were perfectly toasted, and the fries were good. They were out of okra for a side of fried okra, and we were too full for dessert (but it looked good too!) Overall, if you're driving through the area, do yourself a favor and stop in here. The wait staff and the cook were super friendly, and the building itself is clean with interesting decorations.

Very nice restaurant in a small town. I was traveling from Dallas,TX to Tulsa,OK and decided to stop here for lunch. All the dishes which I tried on that day were very good. I also tried the meatloaf but felt a bit disappointed with it. The taste was somewhat different from the other meat loafs which I had tried in Dallas. Also they had cakes for dessert but they were a bit pricey. I paid 5$ for a single slice of chocolate cake. Liked the interior decor of the restaurant. On the whole, I was very satisfied with the experience. Will definitely visit again if I get a chance. - Vivek

Super cute place! Maybellines chunk chicken was very good. I didn't care for the fries..a little to thin for me but I know some ppl like them that way. The staff was very friendly. We were there close to closing but never felt rushed. Two of the cooks asked us how everything was as well as two of the servers. Bonus points to the nice waitress who offered a to go cup for my tea.

Breakfast was incredible! Although it took a while to get it - it was so worth it! Pancakes were fluffy and the size of my plate, eggs were cooked just right and the coffee was fantastic. Service was friendly and super hospitable. Can't wait to find a reason to drive the 2.5 hours back through McAlester just to enjoy Angel's. Maybe we will even stay at the Happy Days Hotel behind the diner! :)

The fried shrimp dinner was amazing I got the 7 fried shrimp and they were of decent size but very tasty best fried shrimp I have had in a very long time. The shrimp comes with two sides, very large portions and a roll. Great friendly fast service. Many awesome deserts to chose from but I went with turtle pie.

Great food and service! Nice price. Loved the 50s deco. We made a pit stop for breakfast on our way from TX to Missouri. Michael was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back next time we are traveling through McAlester.

Me n my 2 boys stopped in here on a whim for lunch. There is plenty of seating. The food was fresh n hot and very plentiful. I had a burger with jalapeños n swiss with onion rings. Burger was juicy n flavourful, they need to work on the onion rings but overall a very good experience. The boys had a chicken fajitas salad they liked it but couldn't finish it so big.

Take a step back in time and bring your appetites! You'll be greeted with "Welcome to Angels, have a seat anywhere you like! " Breakfast is served all day long. You'll have a wide variety of diner lunch/dinner choices also. The first night we ate at the Steakhouse which is located in the same building. To tell you the honest truth I was leary of eating there, but one bite of the artichoke dip quickly changed my mind! We ordered the sirloin steaks (one 6 ounce, one 10 ounce). I'm very picky about steak and these steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted just the same! The waitress, Crystal, was very attentive along with the other staff. We enjoyed dinner and the staff so much that we went back the next day for breakfast before hitting the road! Don't pass up this diner!

Stopped here on the way through town. Waited 10 minutes for drinks and another 10 to place our order. Discovered there was a large group in the back, would have been nice to know before placing food order. Waited another 45 minutes still no food. Paid for our drinks and left when the booth next to us got their food before us. We were there 20-30 minutes before them.

One of the best burgers I have had in a while. They were very busy but still handled the hustle and bustle very well

Overall a good experience, Crystal was our server and she was great. There were 8 of us in the party and all food came out at the same time ! Bonus! The items ordered varied but the crowd favorite was my daughters Chicken Fried Steak, by far the best presentation and she ate it all. Nuff said. The remaining burgers and Phillies were appropriate for their pricing.

I really did not want free pizza in the lobby of my hotel. I decided to go to Angels due to the closeness to my hotel. I did like the food. the service was ok. I was a bit confused on which door to go in because the side door is apprantly for their weekend steak house. I'd go back if I stop in the area again.

Ok, got full, nice staff and lots of deserts. Had a burger and onion rings standard fair.

Great service. Was very fast and nice. I didn't like the food very much however. I ordered a steak medium rare, and half of it was that but the other half was VERY rare. My date said his food was okay, but that we'd probably not eat here again!

My second visit to this " greasy spoon". First time it was ok just had a bowl of stew and a grilled cheese sandwich. Now on to the second visit. Last night. 9/8/15. My co-worker and I ordered steaks both were over cooked. The baked potato was cook early in the day and re-cooked before we ordered. Service was ok. But the real issue was the ants crawling all over the place. I will not be going back.

On the outside this place looks like a throw-back from the 1950's, so you'll be prepared that the inside is that way too. I was tempted to take a selfie in the men's room with the very artistic privacy divider in the background but chickened out. Speaking of chicken, I ordered the lean angus burger -- it was nicely grilled. It was served with the traditional iceberg lettuce and tomato. If these sides weren't authentic I'd complain because I hate iceberg lettuce - with a passion. The shoe-string fries were hot and salty and couldn't stop myself from devouring them. I ordered a HUGE, like in Texas-sized, carrot cake that was loaded with fruit and nuts and coconut. Being the good husband that I am, I took half of this home to my wife. My friend had the bowl of beans which he really liked. I would definitely come back here.

We are giving this place 1 star even though the food is good. It took 40 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Would have been nice if they had told us that there was a huge group in the back and the cook was backed up. Waitress never came over to check on us or tell us what was going on. A little communication would have great. Otherwise we would not have been so frustrated.

So very disappointed.... I have been wanting to try this place for a while now so we decided to stop for a bite to eat. We placed our order and it was slow but wasn't to concerned with it. However, while waiting for our food, I was looking around and watching the cooks. They were making my club sandwich and we're NOT wearing gloves!!! GROSS!!!! So I told the waitress to cancel our order and we left. Will never go back... Very unsanitary!!

My wife and I found this restaurant because of the reviews on Yelp. They were right. This place was great. The staff was friendly and made sure they greeted everyone that came in. They were also on the ball. Our appetizers and meal came out fast. And the food was yummy and full of flavor. They must be using handed down family recipes, the meals didn't remind of normal diner food. We had fried mushrooms, the grilled cheese kids plate, Reuben sandwich, and the chicken fried steak basket. Out plates came full but we sent them back empty and clean. I wish this diner was closer to my home in Texas. I would be a regular. If you're on the road and driving by, you should stop and eat here even if your not hungry. We asked to speak to the manager so we could pay a compliment. They told me there wasn't one. :) I guess they don't really need one since I didn't hear anyone complaining. Cheers!

Great food, great service, The fried catfish was great, and my sides green beans and fries, were as good. I sat at the bar, watched the chefs cook my food as well as make many other guest food, they make everything from scratch, the place is clean and very nice staff, on top of everything I had a great dessert, I recommend stopping by if your staying for a bit or just passing through.

Long time lurker, first time reviewer, and the sweet smiles at the Angel's Diner made me really want to write my first post. The best thing about this place is their attention to detail: from the pink parking stripes match the exterior, classic 50's cars on a perfectly manicured lawn, to the superbly proportional dusting of seasoning on my shoestring fries, and the extra chop my salad got for easy eating. Combines a nostalgia-heavy decor with a traditional diner menu. Pros: Affordable, exceptional service, and tasty food. Cons: I think they used Kraft cheese. Pro Tip: Get the Jalapeno Bottlecaps for an appetizer, and incorporate them into the rest of your meal (e.g., salad topping, burger stuffing, etc.).

THe ribs were the best I have had it this part of Oklahoma hand down. they were foall off the bone juicy witha great smoked hickory flavor. The decor was classic 50s pop icon culture. The wiat staff was great! Fun to chat with but very busy. ++

We ate lunch at Angel's on a Sunday at 11am and was pretty crowded but we were able to get a table immediately. They do have a Sunday special if you are in a hurry. They appear to have a large after church crowd. We were not in a hurry so no problem. Very fun decor. Elvis and Marilyn. Pink walls. Very friendly wait staff. My husband ordered the old fashion hamburger and fries and I ordered chicken fried steak off the Golden Oldies smaller portion part of the menu. Both were very good. They also serve breakfast and all kinds of Diner food. We did not find it difficult to get off and on the freeway. Angel's is directly in front of the Happy Days Hotel.

Fun atmosphere and awesome decor. All the food is tasty but nothing to write home about. They were constantly cleaning and saw great precautions with food prep. The juke box is free and has great a classic selection. Overall a great grease joint that does have a few healthy selections. I would totally recommend the chicken wrap. Decent prices as well, I felt like I for what I paid for.
