Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Started out with a 25-35 minute wait which got me thinking that it would be worth the wait. Not exactly. We received our complementary salsa/queso and chips which were outstanding. The salsa had a little too much of a tomato flavor for me personally. Our waitress asked if we wanted to try the house tortillas and she brought them out and they were also outstanding. I ordered the choose 4. Cheese enchilada with chili carne, shredded chicken enchilada with crema, chicken soft taco, and a mini cheese quesadilla. It came with a choice of 2 sides, I ordered the Mexican style cream corn and potatoes. First things first, the cheese enchilada with chili carne was bland. Terribly bland. The carne had no flavor and they used a different tortilla than the house tortilla. I moved on to the chicken with crema, it was pretty good. The mini quesadilla was also not too bad, again the tortilla over powered the cheese which left it tasting bland. I spoke with the waitress about it and she had told the manager who came over and apologized and said he would take the meal off. I had no problem paying for the meal because I enjoyed a part of it. I didn't even get to try the chicken soft taco due to getting full. Our waitress came back around and asked us if we wanted to try the complimentary dessert, so we said why not. It was sopapillas. Basically fried dough with cinnamon sugar on it. I got mine and it was delicious. My wife also got one and was full so she passed it to me. I took one bite and had a long hair in my mouth. Manager came back over and again apologized and gave us the entire meal for free. I, again, have no issues with paying for something to eat. He insisted. I gave 2 stars because the complimentary food items were great. The service was great and the manager was very hospitable.

Great food! Great service. I will be back for sure. The wait was pretty long but that is too be expected with a new place at lunch. Manger was great as well.

Great Mexican food!! I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where there is a great Mexican restaurant on every corner - this place topped them. The complimentary queso and fresh tortillas was a nice surprise, not to mention our great service. ( Our waiter, Tyler, was awesome!) We will definitely go back the next time we are in Lawton!

YUMMY complimentary chips, salsa, and queso. I ordered an ATOMIC salsa and found it to not just heat things up, IT WAS FLAVORFUL! It even had fresh chunks of avocado! Nice blend of herbs. I had the chicken santa fe salad. Just right! Complimentary flour tortillas and sopapillas as well.

Great location. The wait was way to long. Seemed as if portions of the restaurant weren't finished. They might have rushed to get it open. The Service was great. The staff was able to explain everything on the menu to a t. Now the food wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. Cheese dip wasn't that great. Long story short. If you are looking for a place to have a few drink and eat some Mexican food then come here. If you want authentic Mexican food and don't care much about the vibe then go to mexico. Hahah jk.. Cleanest and best Mexican food in town.

The food here was great! Dare I say that it topped Los Tres, as far as food goes. I went there for lunch at about 2 on Wednesday. I sat at the bar and there was no wait. I would not recommend sitting at the bar, but I'll get back to that later. I ordered the bottomless tortilla soup and a chicken enchilada. The enchilada was okay, but the tortilla soup was wonderful. I got a frozen sangria margarita, which was also wonderful. The complimentary chips and salsa was a big thing that won me over. Both the salsa and queso were great. The queso wasn't that watered down crap that places usually give you complimentary. My only complaint and tip is to not sit at the bar. The waitstaff, which seems to consist of mainly young men, appear to be pretty immature. They were all talking about what bar they were going to attend after work, and we're talking about inappropriate things regarding a local strip club. Not professional at all. I'm only 27, but I would NEVER dream of talking about such things at work, especially in earshot of clients, which they were in front of me talking about what happens in the bathroom at Sidewinders for $20. That part makes me not want to go back. The employees should be coached on professionalism, and this is coming from a former waitress. Keep that crap in the kitchen. By the way, don't try to flirt with a client, that's also not professional. I will say that the two waiters assigned to the bar were not really involved in this conversation. The white male behind the bar made a couple comments, but nothing too horrendous, but the black male with a beard was not involved in any of this. The server who was trying to flirt with me was the main culprit in all of this, but there were quite a few employees involved in the unprofessional discussion. I will consider coming by again just based on the tastiness of the food. However, I will never sit at the bar again, and that is a shame. I dine out solo quite a bit, but I won't be dining out here without the company of someone else and only in the regular dining area. I would give them 5 stars, but I am torn between 3 or 4 stars due to the lack of professionalism from the waitstaff. I'd rather just stick to Los Tres after all of the unprofessionalism that I witnessed. Plus, the margaritas are stronger at Los Tres.

Good food and decent prices! Loved the complimentary queso, pico de gallo and sopapillas.

Dining at Teds is pretty awesome. Teds has great food and drinks and it's lots of fun. I considered myself a picky eater, especially when it's Mexican Cuisine. This was my 2nd time dining at Teds. They can get pretty busy but it seems they handle that easily. The first time I went in in Friday with a group of 8. We waited for about 45 minutes. The second time it was just my husband and I. We walked straight in and dined in the bar area. All in all Great food and drinks, nice atmosphere, and good service. You can't go wrong! So If you are desiring Mexican you must eat at Teds!

Fast and friendly service ,great margaritas, great food always enough left over for lunch the next day

The amount of food you get is perfect for the price you pay. I have only visited for lunch a couple times but it was always good food. All the free extras that come with your meal are awesome. Save room for the free desert.

I went tonight with the husband for the first time after hearing such great things about Ted's. When we arrived, we were told it would be a 40 min wait... we were seated in 30. Our server Gerardo was at our table less than 20 seconds after we sat down-- I was very impressed! He was friendly and entertaining while still remaining prompt and efficient with his service. Despite having plenty of other tables, he came to check on us every few minutes. We never had to ask, "where's our waiter?" Not once. The complimentary chips, salsa, and queso were quickly served to us and were warm and tasty! The food was great and was on our table less than 10 minutes after ordering. Even if the food hadn't been delicious, I'd return for the service alone! Luckily, our meals were great and were just the icing on the cake. I am very impressed with Ted's and we will certainly be back!

We have been here twice. If you want large quantities of food, this is the place. They give you unlimited complimentary chips, salsa, queso, and tortillas. The tortillas are hand made there but nothing that different than mission flour tortillas. They also give you complimentary sopapillas at the end of the meal and that's pretty delicious. The steak fajitas are good, Mexican tacos (however, they plate it were it's near impossible to eat normally... I'm used to double corn tortillas), taco salad was a little small and unimaginative, enchiladas are ok. I mean, it's a chain, but it's clean and food is plentiful. Tip: if you like salsa to be spicy, ask them for the good stuff....

I had hoped that Ted's would live up to the reviews, but was not as impressed as I'd hoped. I've visited three times with three different dining companions. I can't say that I've tried everything on the menu, but I've managed to see quite a large portion of what is offered, and my main criticism is that there is a sad lack of flavor. I'm a big fan of chicken seasoned with chili pepper and other spices. I believe that chicken is the (almost) perfect protein when it comes to Mexican food, as the spice and cheese can play without being overwhelmed by the flavor of the meat. Unfortunately, the recipes here have very little spice, and almost no layering of flavors, so all I could really taste was the cheese. Considering I'm not the biggest fan of cheese, this does not make me happy. Mexican food deserves better than plain chicken stewed in a tomato based sauce, placed atop a tortilla of some sort, and then covered in cheese. One friend ordered a taco salad and had the same complaint for the ground beef. Just beef, with no actual seasoning. She ended up leaving a large portion of her meat behind, though the salad portion of her meal was tasty enough. The other big issue with the menu is that there are no seafood options. While chicken is just about right, shrimp is even better for some dishes, and I adore a good fish taco. None of this exists on Ted's menu, though they are standard offers on most Mexican menus, even in landlocked towns. I asked a passing manager about the lack of seafood and was told that it was a matter of cross contamination. This answer makes no sense, and I did not ask for further clarification. I did explain to this gentleman (and left a note on the comment card) that it was one of the main reasons I won't go out of my way to make a return trip. I can easily find seafood dishes in every other Mexican restaurant in town, so that is where I will head instead. Which is not to say that I will avoid Ted's. I know that I'll end up there on occasion, and when I'm there I'll enjoy the excellent service. Every employee I've encountered has been polite and as helpful as they can be, even when they seem to be making up handy excuses. My drinks have been refilled quickly, the tortillas are fresh and ever flowing, and the free atomic salsa is the most flavor filled part of the meal.

We ate here for lunch however I wasn't impressed. The food isn't bad, but coming from California you're used to the taste of authentic Mexican food and this was lacking in flavor. My husband and I ordered off of the lunch menu; chimichanga for him and a wet burrito for me. They were both big portions but the taste wasn't as expected. The advantage here is being a first-time customer. You pretty much received about four complimentary items. The first few items are different types of salsa, flour tortillas, a cinnamon dessert, and some sort of cold mixture of carrots and jalapeños. The sweet tea was watered down although the waitress (Michelle) stated it was very sweet. The ambiance was very stuffy and packed in. The attempt to squeeze everyone into a tiny space is ridiculous. I hit several people while they passed by our table and couldn't get past how big the reception area was but yet the wait was 20 minutes for a meal. That should have been thought about. All in all, we won't be going back. In comparison to other restaurants here in Lawton, the price and food is not worth it.

The wait is ridiculous. However, the fresh tortillas are awesome as are the tortilla chips. The perfect margarita is pretty good too. I do not recommend this place for large parties. The food was not as good as it was the last time.

I love this place. I had been to the one in OKC once before. This location is just as great! The complimentary tortillas are made fresh and are TO DIE FOR. Make sure to order a bowl of guacamole because it is the best guacamole in Oklahoma!!! They have a huge staff which means you get great service. Our drinks never ran out, there was always someone at the ready to get us a refill. Same with he queso and salsa dips. Our server, Romero, and his assistant were very attentive. They are really good about clearing your plates after you finish. I ordered the Mexican Flag Enchiladas. They were delicious. It is 3 enchiladas, one chicken, one beef, and I can't remember what the other one was right now but it was really good. My BF got the burrito dinner and he was very happy with it. Make sure you come hungry, the portions are BIG. Make sure you say YES to the COMPLIMENTARY Sopaipilla! (who in their right mind would say no to complimentary dessert!? So awesome) It was warm and fresh and the perfect ending to our dinner. I will for sure be going back here. It was wonderful. There was a wait so get there early!

Clean. Friendly but loud and crowded. Super expensive to for so so food. Fajitas weren't that good they were really tough with Lots of grizzle
(2)Robert P.
Wonderful experience. Great margaritas! We had the Mexican flag enchiladas, great flavor a. The chicken could have had a bit more moisture---just a bit dry. The perfect margaritas are well perfect. Ask for the atomic salsa--if you dare. Service is above par. Chips and salsa as it should be--cheese sauce was an unexpected extra.

Won't be back! Between Arandas and Los Tres I'm satisfied with my Mexican Fix. They are both 3/4 the cost at the most. $12 steak at Los Tres is excellent. So is my $10 steak on Wednesday nights at Texas Roadhouse!

jared, you asked me what i did and did not have...and why the food didn't wow me. Some of the food did. your chips and salsas are great! i wasn't fond of the spices in the ground beef therefore, the taco etc i didn't care for. I've also tried a couple of other dishes, i can't remember today. however, i know what i go in i'll be coming out with leftovers. the plates are huge. next time i'm in, i'll update the review with pictures and items that i had...as i said...the food is chips and salsa are great

It's worth going to. The food is Bueno and the service is as well. You may wait a little if its a busy day but worth the wait. Talking about Friday, Saturday evening dinner times and of course Sunday brunch. Of course some are just unpleaseable giving fast food joints 5 stars and other quality resturants 2 or lower is ...wow. But whatever its an over all a great place to eat.

My wife and I came to Lawton to visit my grandmother for Christmas and we decided to go to this restaurant since it was new. We got there around 1:30PM and it was really busy. They said it would be about a 35-45 minute wait, we were seated in about 20 minutes so that was a plus. They brought us chips, salsa and queso, tortillas, and vegetable stuff. I didn't taste the vegetable stuff. I had 2 of the tortillas and some of the chips and queso and started feeling sick. We had already ordered so I did not say anything about it to my family. They brought out our entrees as well as another batch of chips. The second batch of chips they brought out were very greasy, as for our entrees, they were the same way. My wife and I had ordered taco salads and they were very greasy. My mom and grandmother ordered quesadillas and they were greasy also. We were very disappointed with the food. On the positive, the staff was always checking on us and refilling our drinks.
(2)Dana B.
Good was delicious but our waitress wouldn't speak up so it was extremely hard to place an order or know what we were actually getting.

This place is always great and the service is top notch. Love the iced cold beer!

If you have never experienced authentic Mexican Cuisine... then you will probably enjoy this poor excuse for a Mexican Cantina Restaurant. Server was pretty much clueless to anything other than the trainng notes that he got as a new employee... three different servers in fact couldnt offer comparison or suggestion other thanto say, "it is our specialty" and half couldn't even pronounce the menu items properly. But it us new and its Lawton... so expect the lot to be full until the next new place opens.

Great food! Finally a good Mexican Restaurant in Lawton. Fresh hot tortillas, food with some flavor, and sopillas that are not like hockey pucks! Prices are good. Those other places that think they are good (Tres Amigos and Salas) need to be looking over their shoulders. This place kicks your butts so you'd better step up or get ready to close down.
(5)Renee H.
This place was like no other!! We were in town (from Milwaukee, Wi) and saw the reviews on yelp. I never before in my life received my own salsa and queso before. Everyone at the table received their own and they were refilled whenever we wanted. Sodas were also refilled. Food came faster than we could eat. The large size guacamole was huge. 6 scoops of guacamole. The service was fabulous! Food tasted great. Wish there was one closer to home.
(5)Brandi S.
I really enjoyed the food here. Our service was good. I loved the homemade tortillas. Honestly I could have just eaten that and nothing else. I got fajitas and it was a decent portion. I don't remember what my boyfriend got but it had mashed potatoes and he said they were really good. I wouldn't expect much with mashed potatoes at a Mexican food restaurant. The only reason for losing a star is it is really expensive. My fajitas were about $16 for a single order.
