Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Delicious! Ordered spinach & shrimp enchilada, beef taco, charro beans. All were exceptional. The salsa with chips were very flavorful.

Lived in lawton my whole life and have never been here. Heard lots of good things lately so I decided to check them out. Blechhh. Nothing about this visit was good. The cheese was like jelly. Enchiladas burnt. Chips super greasy. Server had better things to do I guess cause she was never around. Just a bad experience. Will more than likely not return.

We were very pleased with the friendly staff and the quality and freshness of the food was exceptional. Our food arrived quickly and was steaming hot. We were happy with the item descriptions contained within the menu and the cost was very reasonable.

Very disappointing Byrd on the new owners. Food was tepid when we got it out I had mexican Felix. Hated the ground meat in taco. The cheese enchilada was okay. Chili telenovela was crispy not the original and tasted awful. My daughter's bean burrito was pinto beans smashed with a spoon and put in a flour tortilla. No spices. The grilled cheeses for both grandkids were black. They lost part of our order and had to remake it--so why was my food cold? My husband said his hamburger was okay. Really likes the waitress but waiting an hour for the food. Cheese dip was okay. Didn't like the green sauce. Totally flavorless.

Still one of the best homey places to go in Lawton! Bernice has done an excellent job of keeping up the food and the presentation I love since I was a kid.

This place was my favorite until new owners took over. Now nothing tastes the same. There were nobody there when I went there to eat. That should have been a sign. I am looking g forward to the previous owner opening up a new restaurant in October on Gore called Salas's Urban Cantina! It will have all the old favorites you remembered

Very delicious food and great service! Everything we ordered was great! The guacamole was super fresh and yummy! The cheese sauce was really good!

Carne asada (tacos) was good; nice char, tender, tasty. However, the chile relleno and chimichanga were less than stellar. Finally, the sopapillas were, umm, huh? Whole wheat flour?? Funky taste and texture, not light and airy and puffy. Bottom line: there are better Mexican options in Lawton.

It wasn't bad...BUT it wasn't all that great. I think I came here with great expectations hoping to find a sort of diamond in ugly and unexpected location. Shame on me. The food was average, the atmosphere was annnhhhh, the service was. . .ok. Not much to write home about here. . .sigh onward with the hunt for the great Mexican restaurant in Lawton, OK. . .I may have to cross the border into TX to find it. ..but hey. . .they're neighbors. It could count. Lol. Not!

The host was gorgeous. Dark hair and light skin, you might have been a mix of Filipino and some other race. I couldn't really talk to you because I was in uniform and that would have been unprofessional. Next time I'm in town, I'll talk to you. If you're reading this, hit me up. We'll set something up. The food was not that great, but the service was pretty good. Not better than Passion of the Christ. Not better than Lethal Weapon 4.

TERRIBLE is all I can say. The food was horrible. We ordered 4 different meals and they were all horrible. I only gave it 1 star because 0 stars wasn't an option.

Garbage over cooked dried meat bones in the chimichangas a chicken burrito is a pile of chicken half way rolled up in a tortilla the only good out of it is the dr pepper margaritas and the chips

The food was okay. The service was quick and polite. If you're looking for rather decent Mexican food this would be it. Nothing amazing nor horrible but suitable.

This place had too much hype built up before we went. We were expecting "the best Mexican food in Lawton" and I would have been happier at Taco Bell. To start off, the "queso" they serve you with your chips is disgusting. It's runny, yellow and salty. There's no spice to it at all. I can get better cheese on nachos at a baseball game. Te salsa's flavor was ok, but it was too runny to even keep on a chip. Our food came out and wasn't anything special. It seems like the food you might get at a "Tex-Mex" restaurant in 1960. I understand that they wantto stick to the way they've been doing thing since the 50's, but I feel like people have come to expect a little more than that. I give it 2 stars because the wait staff was very friendly and helpful - maybe this place's saving grace. If you're cruising through, try Taco Bueno instead.

I love coming to Salas. The chips salsa and cheese is the worst thing there I think. If you ask for some habanero sauce just dump some of that in the salsa....much better. I don't think its the greatest food but they do make awesome drinks. For being in Lawton maybe I could make it a 4 star but I will just leave it a 3 as their are several other mexican places to eat in Lawton that are jsut as good and they are not 4 stars either. I keep going back tho, I eat there at least once a month.

Probably a 3.5 star place but because it's Lawton I've given it the bump. They make their own chips and I think they make their own salsa. They also give you cheese dip. The chips were good and fresh. The salsa was nicely spicy but very very thin. I had the soft Tacos al Carbon. They were really tasty but super small. For $8 I really shouldn't be hungry when I leave. Please add some more meat to the tacos! The service was good and the place was quite crowded. I haven't tried any of the other mexican places around, but I don't expect much from them. I'll update later to say whether or not this is the place to come in Lawton for mexican food.
