I love their food! So flavorful and excellent portion sizes. The staff is awesome and friendly!

One of the nicer places in Lawton, Oklahoma when it comes to sushi/hibachi. They have good combo deals on sushi and of course their hibachi is really filling. They also have different types of Sake to include Nigori. Fun for the family and nice staff. It's my go to for Japanese in Lawton.

There is an illusion of many sushi roll choices; however, most are just variations of imitation crab rolls. I ordered one of the scallop rolls and literally dug through the crab to find my four pieces of scallop. The staff are all nice and attentive. A pro is they have a wine selection. The building is clean and well decorated giving a nice atmosphere (but sometimes smells a little too much like cleaning solution) Disclaimer: I have not tried the hibachi section. So, long story short: eat here for good Americanized crab rolls and a nice bar selection.

Do not judge this restaurant by its appearance ...not that there is anything disapproving of the ambiance. As you approach the building it looks commercial-like and as you walk inside it appears very clean and looks newly constructed. All the employees are very warm and welcoming as everyone receives a greeting as you enter the restaurant. So to get down to it... the food! I have lived in Japan for a total of seven years and finding sushi that has great tasting fresh fish, ingredients, and rice (which is often overlooked) is nearly impossible. Once eating sushi in Japan, the bar for sushi standards is almost at an unreachable high. Anyways, the food taste almost as if I were in Japan. Oklahoma is not usually what you think of when it comes to great sushi. However, when I compare the quality of this sushi to some of the best I've had in Los Angeles, Irvine, Dallas, DC (Kushi Izakya, where your tab will easily be in the hundreds).... This place will excite your taste buds even better and for only a fraction of the price. Next to NYC, this is the best sushi I have had in the states. Not only are the fish and ingredients above par, all of that means nothing if you do not have a creative sushi chef. This place provides it all. If passing through this town or you live there, I definitely recommend it if you can appreciate authentic sushi, not fusion or Americanized sushi, but real sushi.

The worst sushi I have ever eaten, fish was not sushi quality. Sushi roll just fell apart. Chicken fried rice was sub par and I paid $23.75 for this meal. Will not go back, Panda Express has better food for that price.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!! Yummmm!!!! New building and clean atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and the sushi guy makes some delicious and artistic plates! I will definitely return to this restaurant!

This place is awesome! I was skeptical at first, just because Lawton restaurants can be a hit or miss and this one just looked too good to be true but we decided to try it out anyways. We were Glad that we did! They have an awesome selection of sushi and Japanese food. The hibachi wasn't overly priced ($12 for the hibachi chicken with fried rice, noodles, vegetables, shrimp appetizer, salad, and soup!) The Chef and wait staff was very attentive to our needs. We came in on a Saturday night and the place was packed!!! But we didn't have to wait for anything! The chef was very entertaining! They also have a nice selection of Japanese desserts! Tempura icecream, which is fried icecream, was delish and $7! My husband had the mochi and omgggg how I have missed mochi now that we don't live in LA! You can't even find that out here! They give you 8 pieces, which is more then enough, for $7! Kids also have a blast! Kids chicken hibachi was almost the size of a adult hibachi and it included soup and salad and fried rice. All for $7.95! Pretty sweet deal! My kid was full after the fried rice! I can honestly say that I'm glad Lawton is starting to get newer modern restaurants. This place is cheaper the Kobe's and you get more food!!! Def a winner in my book! We will be coming back!!

First impressions matter, especially when one is making a splashy entrance. Unfortunately for Kimono Steak and Sushi Grill, their first impression with the local foodie community was a bumpy one. Construction delays prevented them from opening on their announced date, and they were so busy fixing the issues that they forgot to mention it on any social media outlets. Oops! Not a surprise then that they opened their doors quietly, allowing word of mouth to spread. I was able to visit on their second day open, and almost every seat was empty, but I know that will change soon. Honestly, the empty space is good for now, as there were still a few workers on ladders this afternoon. The space is large, and well spaced. Eight grills fill the center of the room, with each two-grill space seating 18 customers at a time. Not overly crowded, and only two people have a far view of the grill. Other seating includes 6 tables for 4, and a row of seats at the sushi bar. There are also seats at a separate bar, which has place settings, but might be an actual bar once the paperwork is filed. Today I had the chicken katsu bento box. Standard stuff, and done well enough. Chicken soup, two gyoza, salad, half California roll, rice, and protein. I did not specify steamed rice, and now know that fried rice is the default. They were kind enough to bring me a side of their spicy sauce (sriracha) to use with my chicken. All of the food was well done. It was good to have chicken soup as a starter, the salad was not drenched in sauce, and the roll was messy, but with a good balance of ingredients. The rice was a bit too fried for my taste, but had good flavor. I'll just be sure to specify steamed next time. It has been 9 long months since I had my last piece of chicken katsu, so I probably should not be trusted to review. It was a generous piece, juicy and not greasy. Now I just have to convince them to serve it with curry on the side! As I finished I had a chance to quickly meet the owner and welcome him as a new restaurant in the area. He seemed very open, so I did suggest curry (and ahi poke!) as a menu addition. I look forward to returning with friends to try the hibachi offerings. My only true criticism for this restaurant is price. This is the third sushi/hibachi restaurant in Lawton, and the most expensive by far. Each visit has cost me nearly twice what a similar meal would cost me across town, without being double the quality. This will be an issue in a modest town like Lawton, and I hope that Kimono I can convince people that it is the "upscale" hibachi in town.

Disappointing. Seems generally very over priced. The quality is just not there. This is the first time I have ever left sushi on a plate. It was not good. We ordered the spicy yellowtail roll and ate one piece each. The fish was not cold, it was tough and chewy (with what seemed like gristle in it). Actually, it did cross my mind we may get sick. Not very good for a sushi restaurant. There are some other much more palatable choices in town. My advice, go there.

Awesome place. The teriyaki is amazing and I had the "monster 99 roll" and it was incredible. I would say this is the best sushi place in Lawton, OK.

Sushi and hibachi is one of my families favorite things to eat. My 10 year old loves sushi and would eat it everyday if she could. First time I went it was the day after they opened and not many customers we had two bento boxes and a sushi salad. We topped it off with a ahi tower as well. The best was the ahi tower. The presentation was beautiful before they mixed it all together. The rest was OK nothing I would keep going back for. My husband had the sashimi bento for $18 it seemed very expensive it was suppose to come with rice but didn't also they brought us soup and salad at the beginning and then with the bento box he got another salad. The rest was OK. For 3 people our price for lunch was $75 and we had no alcohol. The very next day is our eat out night for the week and my daughter won the coin toss so she got to pick where we went as always she wanted sushi and wanted to try this place. So for 4 people we had a decent meal. I had the shrimp tempura udon. There wasn't anything fancy to it. taste exactly like the udon I get at the commissary. You get two pieces of shrimp tempura. Now the part that got me is I went to Samurai this week for lunch and ordered the same thing shrimp tempura udon I got udon with fresh carrots and cabbage also a side plate of veggie and shrimp tempura. For me Samurai put 100 times more effort in there food. For the price and value I will definitely choose Samurai over kimonos. Now on to the sushi the sushi delicious but again I will not go back for it because of price. I can get the same thing at Samurai at half the cost. The atmosphere is nice and who doesn't like a new restaurant! The staff needs time to work on getting their stuff together which I understand the wait staff needs a lot more training on food and what comes with what. The owner is very nice and I had the pleasure in talking to him both times I went. I have not tried the hibachi but I'm pretty sure we will go back to try it. I'm actually looking forward to trying it. The second time I went I saw a chef that seemed upbeat and interactive with a lot of show to offer. His name is Jae and I will be asking for him. All in all good place to eat but I don't see myself coming very often because of price. Don't get me wrong I will happily spend money on a expensive dinner when its well worth it. But the value is not there for me. Especially when I go 10 minutes down Cache and Samurai is offering the same thing with better portions at a way lower price.

We eat at Kimonos almost every time we are in Lawton. It is honestly some of the best sushi I have had. The chefs are welcoming and inventive. You can tell that they love what they do.
(5)Mike C.
I have to say after visiting this place again and sticking with sushi I've had some pretty good experiences. The chefs are friendly and everything I've eaten was fantastic. They're even happy to do custom rolls to accommodate tastes. Any time I hear anyone talk about sushi in Lawton I tell them I won't go anywhere but Kimono. You've earned my heart.
(4)Gilbert T.
Come with the fam at least once a month. I really like it here. Probably the best sushi in town. Enough room for big groups as well.
(4)Adrian B.
*please note that this review only addresses the sushi and not any hibachi plates Very pleased with Kimono. I lived in Japan for 3 years, and one of the best ways to check the freshness of a sushi place is to sample the salmon sashimi. Bang. Very fresh with great flavor. Kimono passed my sushi tests with flying colors. The rolls are fun and fresh, beautifully presented, and accompanied with wonderful sauces. Sushi is served up quickly and always at the right temperature. For people in Lawton, these prices may seem high, but for the quality of fish, I can't disparage them. Kimono doesn't overdo their rolls, over-vinegar their rice, or cover them in overpowering sauces. I would highly recommend them if you're new to sushi!

You would think with their exclusive hours that their food would be amazing or even really good. Not the case here. It's not even mediocre. The service was fine. They filled our drinks enough. We found a hair in one of the salads they brought and they tried to deny it belonged to one of them. You will get charged extra for some flavorless crunchy rice but they don't tell you that. You meal instead includes some Spaghetti they tried to season. The steak and shrimp were tough and chewy. You do get a large portion of food but you pay for it. If you want great hibachi go to samurai.

Me and my boyfriend both agreed that we would definitely be back. We decided to be seated at a Hibachi grill. Although our waitress wasn't very attentive, our chef was outstanding; he was entertaining, and the food was delicious. For lunch, the prices weren't too expensive. We both ordered Diet Coke, and our waitress brought us a drink that had some sort of vanilla taste. We figured it was due to the restaurant just starting up and working some things out. The chicken and steak were fresh and cooked great. It was an overall 3 1/2 to 4 star visit.

Very good. The food was tasty, but not the best Japanese food I've had in town. Not really family friendly or spacious. In an odd location, but a good find.
(4)E S.
The food was alright; nothing spectacular, and for the money, overpriced. What brought this review down to a 1 was the fact that each one of us was overcharged by at least $10, and there were five of us. The excuse was that "the machine" used the dinner prices instead of the lunch prices. Because we were there at noon, we found it hard to believe.

Being a big sushi fan from So. California, I wasn't expecting much when we visited Kimono in Lawton, OK. But the sushi was actually very good. We were told by locals it was the best one in town so I'm glad we followed their advice.

The sushi was great .... It was beautiful and had a wonderful flavor. I was also very pleased with the salad dressing sometime the house dressing can be overbearing , but in this case it was wonderful . The only thing I was not super impressed with was the soup. It was flavorless. I was quit disappointed because the soup is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal. The cook was very entertaining . He was funny and kept the table very engaged . The entrees has a great favor. I was not over whelmed by the portion size like most Japanese restaurants . Usually you expect a mountain if food but, in this case not so much . I was over all pleased with the experience .

This place was definately a disappointment. The service was terrible. The waitress took forever to take our order. While the hibachi chef was cooking the food they didnt bring out enough for my boyfriend. Once he finally realized there wouldnt be enough he went to the back and brought out unfried rice for him and then tried to charge us for it. The only good thing about this place was the sushi.
(2)Cori T.
The price is not even close to worth the wait. If you are just wanting sushi if is actually really good quality, just lacking in the fun service and experience of most places. And, again, the price.
(2)Dom F.
Only got sushi here over lunch, but WOW. I was very impressed. They only had sashimi a la carte which is unfortunate because I usually get a sashimi dish, but I got their tuna tataki and two rolls. Everything was fresh and well-presented. Great service throughout the entire experience. You really cant ask for a better sushi restaurant in a landlocked state. I would recommend anyone go, and I will definitely go back.
(4)Jack B.
Great service and food. They put on a good hibachi show. Lacking Sake and Japanese beers, which kind of blows the mojo. I'm still a fan.
(4)Brandon A.
Came and got some sushi after work. Very friendly staff, cold beer, and great sushi. I would recommend the Fire Dragon Roll. Oh, and the miso soup was superb. I will be back.
(5)Sabrina L.
Just went to this restaurant for lunch and unfortunately it was fairly disappointing. The chicken teriyaki was drenched in soy sauce, sushi was not tightly rolled and fried rice was similar to what's served at a food court. On top of that, only one waitress was working while the rest of them were either sitting watching tv or texting on their phone. Meanwhile we're left sitting there waiting for our bill. With the other sushi/hibachi options in town this ones sadly at the bottom of the list.

Poor customer service. I ordered chicken yakisoba, I have never had it and it did not have a description. I asked waitress if it had noodles she said yes. I figured noodle dish sounds good. It comes with a mayonnaise squirted across it. I personally cannot stand mayonnaise. I tried it but I could not get past the mayonnaise. I asked the waitress if I could another order without mayonnaise and she said no that is how it comes. She said since I ate some she could not make another order. I asked to speak to manager she also said if I wanted another she would charge me for a new order. She also argued with me that yakisoba comes with mayonnaise. She also told me I needed to pay for the dish I ordered because I ate about 1/3(which my kids ate more than I did). Finally after telling her just give me my check she took off the dish I did not like. Poor customer service ! She may have saved not remaking my dish but she lost me and my family's business. Disappointing since my kids called watching the table side grill as "show" they were always asking to see the show. I guess we can go to the other hibachi grills in town.

This place has the best fire dragon roll I have ever enjoyed. The service was fast, friendly and made me feel welcome.
