Stopped here hungry for lunch on a Saturday after the Tour de Trykes cycling tour and wasn't disappointed. They have an excellent selection of typical Mexican dishes rellenos, fajitas, tamales, tacos, etc. We tried spicy chicken fajitas, an enchilada and a tamale. All were excellent and satisfying. Served with refried beans, rice and trip to the salsa bar to pick your own salsa. We tried their guac too which was fine but needed a bit more heat for my taste. Saw some other dishes at neighboring tables like a Posole that have me wanting another visit soon. The service was top notch...efficient and friendly.

We enjoyed the café Garcia however the food was nothing spectacular. The salsa bar was a nice addition, however everything was pretty bland and your basic Tex-Mex. We enjoy more authentic Mexican cuisine so we will keep looking.

I'm from San Diego and have developed a high standard for Mexican Food. I was SO pleasantly surprised at Cafe Garcia! This is the REAL DEAL. I normally get the shrimp tacos and they are absolutely fantastic. Bravo Cafe Garcia!! Good service, fun and colorful atmosphere, and of course, really REALLY good food.

FREE SOPAPILLAS after your meal and this is not advertised of even mentioned. My fajitas were flavorless but the rice and beans were good. Order the queso Blanca if you like cheese dip, the table cheese dip has to be cream of cheese soup... No thank you. Salsa bar they call a taco bar. Guac is mediocre.

Food was great, cute facility, they have a hot sauce bar (fantastic). Didn't feel rushed to get out of there and portions were great for the price

Since patios are limited in Enid, Cafe Garcia is a nice spot to visit to change up the usual patio scenery. Food is decent, and a step up from Tex-Mex. One of the better Mexican restaurants in a town of many. My favorite item is the salsa bar. Unlimited trips with multiple flavors and heat levels plus unlimited chips. The queso isn't very spicy but I mix in other salsas to get it where I like it. The best by far is the avocado salsa...but I'm an avocado freak. I like any dish with the chile verde sauce, and get the shrimp tacos as well. They do serve beer, but no liquor means no margaritas. :(

This is the other Mexican restaurant that we will eat at in Enid. It's closer to true Mexican than Tex Mex and we like to have that option. The food is always served hot and fresh, and the service is quick and friendly. The salsa bar has a wider selection the most other Mexican restaurants we've found between here and Santa Fe. Rarely will you find the place less than half full of patrons, Fri and Sat nights it can get down right packed. Considering the number of guests, they do a pretty good job of keeping the place clean. Is this fine dining, no, yet it is some of the best Mexican food you'll find in the area.

Great food and even greater salsa bar! Have eaten there many times and it has never let down. Our favorite mexican food in Enid and at a great price. Would be 5 stars but they don't have real margaritas....only the bottled wine cooler version

I like Cafe Garcia's atmosphere the best of any of Enid's plethora of Mexican food spots. My favorite is the Carne Asada burrito, I have had it multiple times and it is always great. Service is ok most of the time. Salsa bar is nice so you can adjust your heat level and consistency.

Had a very disappointing, nearly 1 star, lunch at Café Garcia. Given how crowded this place was during a weekday lunch, plus the other Yelp reviews, the rest of Enid doesn't agree with me about this place. But, my lunch was subpar in nearly every aspect. To begin, the restaurant was very hot. It seemed as though it doesn't have an air conditioner, or if it does, it wasn't working. And, some of the ceiling fans were off. If the joint is this hot, they could at least turn on the fans. It took a few minutes before I had a menu, which was about par for the course for my entire meal. I only saw the server two additional times: once to get my food and once when I flagged her down and asked for my check. When I asked for my check, I also asked for a to go cup of ice water. She took so long with that I asked another server, who got it for me. You are given a very bland cheese sauce when you sit down, along with chips and hot salsa. I don't mean hot with spice (it had none), I mean hot with heat. It was very warm, and it was shocking, as I was expecting the salsa to be cold. Also, the chips, which were store bought, were stale. Fortunately, there is a salsa bar with several types of salsa, peppers, onions, etc. This is the only thing that saves Café Garcia from a 1 star review. Everything I had from the salsa bar was good. To eat, I had the chicken fajita quesadilla. For $8.99, you get the quesadilla, beans, rice, sour cream, and guac. So, it's a good value for the amount of food. But, the food isn't any good. The tortillas appeared to be store bought. So, we have a "Mexican" place that buys both its chips and its tortillas. The chicken was decent, it was grilled, so I'll give Café Garcia that. But, the veggies were only cursorily grilled, they were still nearly raw and very crunchy. The tortilla had almost no crisp, but it was greasy. This made me think the flat top wasn't hot enough or they didn't leave it on there long enough. This was a quesadilla you could make at home. And, if you were at home, you wouldn't have to sit in a hot restaurant and be ignored. I will not be returning to Café Garcia.

Fresh! Authentic and delicious! What a treat today. I was lucky got here a tad before noon. The place slowly lined out the door and around the corner! I ordered a taco salad. She created this for me and it was out of the world. Fresh cilantro, grilled chicken and Steak, avocado with charro beans! A lil hole in the wall with authentic Mexican food! :)

Cafe Garcia is one of my favorites in town! They have great food, a fantastic salsa bar, fast & friendly service, and fair prices! When it's nice out we love sitting outside on their patio.

I came right after a busy lunch. Waitress very sweet and tried to clean a table and take care of me as soon as possible. Loved the salsa bar and chips! Lunch is a steal and pretty tasty for Enid. Def will go back and try more things on menu. Tables are close together so I got to hear the whole conversation next to me in detail! Urgh wish I hadn't! Lol.

Food was fair, I had the fish and shrimp soup it was a little bland nothing to write home about but decent enough. Ordered two shrimp tacos alacart. The shrimp were chopped into little pieces and sautéed with a little onion and 3 tiny pieces of green pepper. Was served on a flour tortilla. I put sour cream on them and they were very tasty, although lacking in eye appeal. The salsa bar is a great idea, but was severely picked over, and staff did nothing to keep up with it. Now, the real problem. This place is hotter than a fire cracker. I was dripping with sweat after my meal. It was close to 100 outside, and when I walked out it felt like a cool breeze. Sorry, won't be back,

I haven't been to many places here in Enid since there's such a lot of fast food places but this is one of the few bright spots for food here. Actually its the best place I've eaten at since I've been here. Time: Wednesday afternoon Location: I don't have a clue where I was but it wasn't close to Bricktown. Price: About $15 Food: I forgot what it was but it was some kind of beef burrito with rice and beans Drinks: Pepsi Interior Design: Nothing special Pros: The waitress was great and the food especially the beef tasted very good. The beef tasted kind of like ropa vieja. Cons: There were a few flies around but no biggie.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Enid. Love the salsa bar and the Southwest Taco Salad is a must. The parking lot is finally finished which makes eating there so much easier.

Solid Mexican joint in downtown Enid. The food has flavor, it is cooked with appropriate amounts of spices and salt, the ingredients used are correct - I know this is super basic stuff I'm mentioning, but Oklahoma restaurants suck at those basics. Cafe Garcia is a rare exception of quality ethnic food in a region painfully devoid of such pleasures. The staff is friendly, service is fast, prices affordable. They have a self serve unlimited salsa bar that is no joke. I really enjoyed dining here.

I love this place. My family and I go here 'often'. Especially in nice weather when we can sit outside on the patio. Very nice atmosphere and the wait staff have always been wonderful. The "A La Carte" authentic Mexican tacos are the best! Just like 'street tacos'. They have a great salsa bar with several different kinds of salsa. Yes...it would be nice to have stronger drinks here than tea or beer but...not possible without jumping through tons of city and state laws/hoops.. They do sell Mexican pop which is also very good. Its a nice place to eat and has fab food.

Out of all of the Mexican restaurants in Enid, this is the most authentic one we have come across. The food is decent but coming from almost Mexico in southern California I have to be fair and say it isn't the best Mexican food in the world, however, for Enid it is pretty alright. Food comes with complementary chips and a hot queso dipping sauce type thing. There is also a pretty good salsa bar with around 8 or so types of salsa as well which is pretty nice. Breakfast on Saturday is pretty good.

Typical menu for a Mexican restaurant, but really cool atmosphere in the middle of downtown. I always fill up on complimentary chips at Mexican restaurants, then punish myself with additional food from my entree until I'm in pain. But Garcia's made it even worse! They have a salsa bar (which happened to be right behind my table) with about 10 different salsas and cheeses. So, I ate double the amount of my normal chip intake, and then again attempted to stuff my entree down. This is the best atmosphere for Mexican in Enid, but the food at La Salsa is a little better.

This has quickly become me and my wife's favorite mexican restaurant in town. The food is fairly typical although I can't remember the last time I got enchiladas or a burrito at a mexican restaurant. I always turn to the page with the house specialties and have had several here, none of which have been disappointing. The main reason I enjoy this place is with out a doubt the salsa bar. Several different selections with fresh cilantro, onion, and limes not to mention the whole jalapenos. Great place for lunch or diner.

A recent trip to Cafe Garcia was a bit of a bust. The staff was not nearly so attentive as the past and the food mediocre. Still, the salsa bar is great. The building is starting to lose some of its charm as the present occupants don't have the flair of the owner of Da Vincis who occupied it before.

I give Cafe Garcia the stars for an excellent breakfast! My husband and I hear a good word about their breakfast and wanted to give it a shot. We were thoroughly impressed. We both had omlettes and they were AWESOME!!! We heard their breakfast tacos were tasty as well.

So after hearing so much about Cafe Garcia, I finally got a chance to try it out. First things first, the parking is horrible. It is so bad that nearby businesses have signs marking off their parking. When I say bad, I mean you could pack two families into every car, fill up the parking, and still not fill up the restaurant. People make do somehow, but this is Enid. We have space. That being said, I'll judge the restaurant on its merits. Enid is a city with some solid Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants, which means I expect popular restaurants to be really good. Admittedly, that can't always be true because El Chico manages to stay in business in this town despite catering to people without taste buds. I walk in, and the restaurant looks nice. A bit more spacious than I thought, very open overall. Good start. Thanks to previous reviews, I know not to expect a margarita. I do wish I had asked for a menu or a drink list beforehand though, they have Mexican Coke and other Mexican real sugar sodas. This is a Big Deal to me. For non-alcoholic options, real sugar soda is the single best thing a restaurant can carry. I can and will be getting one on my next trip. I'd say I spoiled the surprise by saying "next trip", but the four stars above already imply that one. The menu is similar to Playa Azul. They do clearly have street tacos, but I decided I'd test both the service and the menu at the same time. I ask the waitress what dish defines the place. She starts off with "The most popular dish is the enchiladas..." At this point, you can tell a number of things. Someone who orders what is popular is afraid of their own shadow and wants the least adventurous thing they can get. Also, what is popular is reliably acceptable yet never the best thing on the menu. Thankfully, she continues. "but one of my favorites is the carne asada platter." Bingo. That's a recommendation right there. As for the food, I'll go from start to finish. The chips and cheese sauce are decent. The cheese is a little bland, but Cafe Garcia is more well known for the salsa bar. Chile de arbol salsa, I'm already impressed. Cilantro and lime wedges to add for taste? I'm sold already. Then the meal comes out. The meat is that slightly greasy easy to cut style I expected, tastes great. The rice is fine although not exceptional, the beans are pretty meh although not bad. In the end, Cafe Garcia holds its own. No liquor is a bit disappointing but the food is solid enough that I wasn't broken up over it. Still, between that mild inconvenience and the absolutely horrible parking, I'll give it four stars. Perhaps if I go back and have a lime soda with the meal, I'd nudge it up to five stars. That is, if I can find a place to park.

While I am not a huge fan of mexican food, I have to say Garcia's has the best surprise in town - their breakfast. Generous portions at excellent prices. Get the breakfast taco; $1.50 each and damned well worth it! Salsa Bar is great, the patio is groovy, the beer isn't the absolute coldest in town - but it'll do. Sometimes service is slow, but generally only when they're really busy.

One of the better Mexican restaurants I've eaten at...excellent salsa bar, great service. We live about 60 miles from there and are planning to make the trip back just for the food:))

Just prefacing by saying that I am a Mexican and Tex-Mex food connoisseur, so take my "meh" rating with a grain of salt because I have been on the greatest hits tour of Mexican food, and Cafe Garcia doesn't even qualify to be a roadie on this tour. Wait, that's harsh, maybe they qualify to be a roadie for the opening band. Okay, that's fair. Roadie for the opening band. This was the first restaurant I experienced when I moved to Enid last month, so I had no idea what to expect. Walked in and I thought the place looked pretty cool, authentic and rustic feel to the whole place. Here's where I almost walked out of the restaurant. Our waittress comes up, asks us for our drink order.... Me: "I'll have a margarita on the rocks with salt." Waittress: "... We don't sell liquor here, only beer." WTF MATE!!!! No tequila?!?! WHYYYY!?!??! Anyways, I recovered from that shock soon enough and ordered a Tecate and a salted glass. Salt was NOT course salt, it was table salt, so I would stay away from any salted glasses at this joint. I ordered the mixed fajitas (shrimp, beef, and chicken), as did everyone else at the table, and everyone seemed happy with the food. The fajitas weren't especially flavorful or unique, but they were definitely edible. The menu had alot of options on it, so I'm sure there are some gems hidden in there somewhere. Alright, I sound like a hater, so I will admit that the one redeeming quality of this restaurant is the salsa bar. Probably seven or eight kinds of salsa, all fresh and various levels of spice. The three or four I tried were all great. They also have fresh cilantro, limes, and japs, so that's nice to add to your meal if you choose. I have not yet been to any other Mexican restaurants in town yet, so I have nothing to compare this place to, only the best and most wonderful heavenly mexican food places in Texas. My only reason not to go back? Their lack of proper libations. Other than that, I'm sure I will eventually be convinced to go here again.

Remembering what this establishment used to be (Davinci's Coffee House...amazing) I wish it was still Davinci's. However, Cafe Garcia was a nice place. The staff was nice. The atmosphere was relaxed. The bathroom was actually pretty modern and clean. The salsa bar...how can you go wrong with a salsa bar. Yummo! Didn't really like the guacamole salsa, but whatever. My chicken chimichanga was good. It wasn't too greasy, but it wasn't blowing my mind either. I don't know. Maybe this place deserves a 4...but I can't really bring my self to put it in the circle of 4's. In conclusion...eat here. It's good.

Cafe Garcia's is a fun place located across from the David Allen baseball field. It has a great salsa bar and very good food selections. Sitting outside on the patio during the spring and summer drinking tecate beer with salt and lime and eating nachos is very enjoyable.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
