Great Mexican food Not quite as good of quality as 63rd and May Ted's location. Pricey Mexican food but you're paying for the great pre-meal setup and dessert as well. Very clean interior. Monday nights often no wait. Weekend wait times can be lengthy.

I got my identity stolen here along with about 30 other people. They drained over $4000 out of my bank account. I will never go back.

AWESOME food & you can't beat the freebies that you get before & after your meal. Definitely our goto place for Mexican food. Usually a bit of a wait when we have gone, but well worth it. Wish they had call ahead seating.

This is one of those places where I'm having to fight my California roots and instead think like an Oklahoman... so I will do my best. It's definitely not "authentic" Mexican food, which is 100% what I grew up on. When I was a kid, burritos were given to you wrapped in foil, where you then ate them in the front seat of your dad's truck. That's the Mexican food I know and love the best, the kind of shady Mexican food where you aren't sure if the employee lady washed her hands between mopping the bathroom and wrapping your burrito, but its so good (and convenient!) that you just don't care. But as far as Tex-Mex goes, Ted's is one of my favorite places in that style I've ever eaten at. Ted's has grown on me a ton once I stopped trying to make it what it wasn't. And to their credit, they don't try to be anything that they aren't. The food comes out of the kitchen quickly, its hot and fresh, and I've found it to be extremely consistent in its quality. The portion sizes (I usually get the Mexican tacos) are generous. The prices are... okay. It's not necessarily cheap, but I don't feel ripped off when I leave. There is always an army of servers and chip-refillers and drink-getters wandering around the floor to bring you more salsa or tortillas or water. I have never been to the Edmond Ted's when there wasn't a wait for a table, and the server who offers you drinks while you wait is a nice touch. Even when they're ultra busy on a weekend night, I've never felt hustled out of there after I finished my meal (not that we hang out for an hour afterward, but you know what I mean). And as always, free sopapillas is a great way to end the meal. Yeah, its not really authentic Mexican food. And you're likely going to wait a while for your table, especially on Danforth. Hell, even finding a parking spot can be difficult sometimes. But Ted's, in whatever genre you want to define them in, does what they do well and they do it consistently. Good for them.

Always good and the food is served hot. Service is amazing! I had the fajita enchiladas with pico and sour cream sauce. Yum!!

Catering: 5 stars Sit-down restaurant: 3.5 stars This location's catering is great! Great quality food, large portions, receive exactly what I ordered, was ready on time. The crowds of people I was feeding it to were very pleased. Ted's is definitely VERY popular here! For dining in, it is ok. When I first moved here I thought it was a Mexican restaurant and I didn't really understand what Tex-Mex was so I was all kinds of confused on why they were placing vats of melted velveeta cheese on the table and bland salsa. Then after a quick tour of all "mexican" food in OKC I realized that Tex-Mex is like, a thing here, or whatever, and Mexican food (autentico) is a little harder to come by. So, as far as Tex-Mex goes, this place is one of the better ones as far as food goes. They do have nice servers and a full bar available. Which you will need, because you will have to wait forever to be seated for dinner. And then wait some more. And then they will finally seat you, and you will wait a little longer for your server. And they may or may not forget to bring your drinks. And sometimes your drink from the bar really isn't that great and you kind of regret not getting your group to go somewhere else. They do have pretty good tamales, and fresh tortillas. Oh, and I like the fajitas. The seafood dishes are not so great. The steak dishes are meh. I have tried all their salsas and relishes, and I am not a fan, but the spicier ones are preferably to whatever tomato sauce they put out on the table when you first sit down.

Where do I begin?? First off, I am from West Texas....I know good Mexican food, period. This restaurant was by far some of the best Mexican food I have ever tasted, and trust me, it is hard for me to say anything good about Oklahoma since I am a born and raised Texan. My lady knows her Margaritas, and she decided that the Sangria Margarita was easily the best Margarita she had ever tasted. 5 stars, two thumbs up and a great job to the founders of this place. The workers are just kind as can be and were extremely sweet while accommodating my lady's handicapped grandparents. Free chips, after meal Sopapillas, man talk about hospitality! I could not have asked for more! The only down side.....no Texas brewed beer! I am telling you for the four of us I paid $64! Back in West Texas I would have easily paid $80+ for the same meal, great job!

We usually have a great experience when we eat at this Ted's because the service is excellent, the food is delicious and plentiful, the prices are affordable, and the atmosphere is comfortable. However, on our last visit I specifically ordered my daughter's chimichanga with fajita meat and NO pico. Much to our dismay, a chimi arrived loaded with shredded chicken and full of tomato. When I informed the waitress she offered to bring out a new one but I told her it would be too late for that. I expected the chimi to be taken off the bill but it was not. The waitress even had the audacity to come back to the table and correct me by saying the chimi didn't have pico in it but instead it was tomato. Really?? Give me a break! Pico is primarily tomato! Moral of the story, I didn't want shredded chicken loaded with tomatoes! Accept your mistake and take it off the bill! If I have a better experience next time I will update the review.

Average food but lots of complimentary extras. Chips, salsa, queso, atomic salsa and hot tortillas. Service was very good. Food was out very fast even though the restaurant was slammed with people. Chaotic atmosphere. Free desert was very good.

Ted's can be best described as average Tex-Mex, and to be honest, I'm not terribly impressed. You really have to look for vegetarian options (and Mexican, or in Ted's case, Mexican-esque, is very easy to veg-ize). I've have their cheese enchiladas with spinach and also their taco salad sans meat, but overall, meh. The service is usually good, and the speed of ordering to food on the table reasonable. I've wound up here for work-related lunches, and average Tex-Mex seems to be a way to appease everyone. So while I don't hate Ted's, I don't go out of my way for it. If they had better veg options, maaaaybe I'd reconsider.

We had a very nice dinner. The chili rellanos are delicious as are the many varieties of enchilada. Their flour tortillas are freshly made on site and are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Our server was the best - very attentive and fun to banter with. I've been eating Ted's carryout or catering for many years but this was the first time to eat in their restaurant. I will be back.

We live in the neighborhood behind Ted's and it's an effort to not eat there ALL the time. Their food is that amazing...but we do our best to resist the lure too often. EVERYTHING about this place is FRESH! We pass the restaurant early in the mornings and the staff is already arriving and working. Making the fresh salsa, guacamole, chips, tortilla dough, etc. I've never had a bad meal here and no one ever leaves hungry! Often we get a double order of steak fajitas and come home with enough left overs for dinner for both of us and lunch for one of us. Not a bad deal! Ted's starts you out with complimentary chips, salsa, and queso without even having to ask and they also offer mixed vegetables, atomic salsa (my favorite), and warm flour tortillas as well. THEN you get to your order and by the time the meal arrives, you are fairly well along the road to being stuffed. But don't push it. Ask for a to go box and save room for your complimentary warm sopapilla...and be sure to drizzle a little honey over it. Fried dough is a wonderful thing! If you haven't been to Ted's yet, arrive early or at an off hour or you can expect a wait. You won't be sorry...in a town full of Tex-Mex, this is the best of the best!

This is probably my favorite teds location. Infact, Ted's in general isn't one of my favorite restaurants, but this location is delicious and always a good time. I might be biased because it is in my high school neighborhood, so I tend to run into a lot of people I know and recognize many of the servers who have been there for years! Beware of the Friday night lines! It gets busier than most restaurants around. People love this place, I'm telling you. Their special salsas are so yummy, I recommend their hotter avocado one. I always get their fajitas, I think a great choice. For the price it's not bad, I fill up on so much stuff there that I always end up having a meal to take home at the end for the next day. Also beware, don't come here on a diet or when you need to be productive afterwards. I usually get into a food coma and become a couch potatoe after all the delicious tex Mex goodies!!

  • Maggie F.

Looove Ted's, and this one easily gets five stars because it has a full bar (the one closer to me in OKC doesn't have a liquor license...crazy talk in a Mexican restaurant!). Yeah, it's Tex-Mex, but there isn't much authentic Mexican food in Oklahoma City (in my experience, anyway), and Ted's tastes great. The tortillas are the best I've ever had and probably ever will have in my life. They are thick but still soft and with a little bit of queso and salsa rolled into it - delicious. I definitely recommend a soft taco or fajitas to get some of those in your meal...that is, if you don't fill up on chips, tortillas and queso beforehand (guilty). Really, everything is good. Ted's also does a great job catering; I've had delicious fajitas buffet-style at a few parties before and it never disappoints.

  • Stephanie T.

Very tasty & speedy. I especially enjoy the complimentary chips, queso, & salsa. They also offer tortillas if you wish. I tried the atomic salsa, also complimentary, it has a nice kick. Tried to go for a bit of a lighter option with the fajita steak salad. It was delicious. The steak had great flavor. I will definitely order it again. Finished my meal with a complimentary sopapilla. It was so warm & fluffy, glad I saved room.

I have eaten at Ted's before. It has a deservedly good reputation. I went to Ted's to enjoy a lunch special. I chose the chimichanga with Mexican potatoes and refried beans. First the chips and salsa were of expected quality and an indulgence at any good Mexican restaurant. Ted's does a good job of upholding this tradition. The waitress did a good job and soon brought me a hot plate holding my order. I found the beans to be as expected. I regretted ordering the Mexican potatoes. The potatoes were sufficiently cooked and mashed but the bits of peppers stirred into them were not thoroughly cooked and their texture made the potatoes less than enjoyable. The chimichanga itself was golden brown but the uncooked peppers and onions inside were less than delicious. The beef was tender enough and had a bland flavor was unenhanced by the rest of the ingredients. All in all a mediocre offering. The sopapillia was excellent and made a good end to a so so meal. I can't say I won't come to Ted's again but my opinion of Ted's has been lessened by my lunch time visit.

  • Mary K.

I love this place! We eat here every time I come home to visit! Great queso, several salsa options (ask for the atomic if you're feeling adventurous but be very careful...it'll get you!) Oh and try to pace yourself with the chips and queso...I often get so full I can't even eat my main course. The fajitas are awesome! If you like beer, ask for a Ted's Tecate! Lots of fresh squeezed lime around the rim and the glass is always chilled! Cheers! (Ps, I just realized how many exclamation marks I used in this review...this place just excites me ok?!?!)

  • Stohn C.

First time here and I was thinking it was going to be a chili's clone. No! It wasn't. It tastes like good tex-mex with LARGE portions. I tried all three salsas, regular, atomic, and habanero. Don't bother with the habanero, you would maybe like to taste your food...overall very pleased.

    (5)
  • Kevin L.

I'm really not impressed by Ted's. I know it's a local favorite. But it's just so-so tex-mex food. Nothing really authentic about it. The food is just covered with cheese and sour cream. Yeah the tortillas are fresh, and that's probably the only redeeming factor. Well and the service is quick and friendly. But jesus christ the wait! you can't make a reservation and the wait is always very long 1 hour to 2 hours. I ordered the plato gordo. it was a ton of food, but just really simple kinda plain food. Maybe if the prices were less i would understand the lack of flavor, but it's expensive for what it is! Pros: - Fresh tortillas - Friendly, fast service Cons: - Bland, plain food - Long wait for a table - Expensive for what it is

Our group had nachos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. All were really good. We loved the chips and three salsas. Tortillas were also notably tasty. Guys finished their dinners and ladies had leftovers so portions were about right. Our server was wonderful and threw-in some extras.

Being from Austin, I have s very high standard for Mexican food, Ted's hit the spot while I was traveling for work. Brady good cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. Service was exceptional. Loved the free sopapillas after dinner, light and fluffy.

  • Claudia S.

Yum. This place drowns you in food, so beware. They start out with huge amounts of chips, queso, salsa, homemade tortillas, etc. I didn't care for the salsa at all, the queso was funky too, but those tortillas really made up for it. I got shredded beef tacos with tortilla soup... those tacos are HUGE and the beef was juicy and delicious. Then, they finish you off with free sopapillas. $10 meal and ended up barely being able to eat my actual meal because of all the free food!!! It's very Americanized "Mexican" food, but it's good. Give it a try!

Great food and atmosphere. Fajitas to share or order your own plate, either way you can't go wrong. Anytime I have been here either lunch of dinner service is always fantastic! For a lunch with the girls or dinner with the hubby, Ted's is always my first choice!

I have traveled to all but three states within the U.S. and to countless locations in South America and can say that this is the absolute best Tex Mex I have ever encountered with Mi Cocinas being a close second. One of their managers, Danny is the best i have ever met and can say that if I were to ever fulfill my dream of opening my own restaurant, he would be the one person I would want to run it. Teds Best Tacos are my fav and my tip would be to ask them for a plate of butt burners with your fresh tortillas, they are to die for.... But be warned, they do burn you twice....

Always great service and awesome food here. The price is never too high. Some times the wait is over 30 minutes but you should wait.

So much complimentary food before the meal came I was almost to full to eat! I had chicken chili rellano and husband had tamales. Both dinners were good. What was outstanding was the service Cassie gave us. Best service we have had in ages!

  • Haley H.

Absolutely love this place! They're always busy, so there's usually a wait time, which is the only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. The food is great and they're service is almost always great too. I would definitely recommend this place!

  • Marilyn B.

I gave ted's one star because the waiter was very good. We had nachos, tacos, enchiladas and salad. Nothing tasted like mexican food. Very bland dry meat. Greasy tortillas and chips. No reason to ever come back here.

The best Mexican restaurant in OK. Excellent fajitas, queso, salsa, sopapillas, flour tortillas and chips (all freshly baked). Their service is great and food is yummy! Do not miss their sangria swirl!

  • Robert D.

We had a party of 4 and each ordered different entrees, with everyone completely enjoying the food. The best part of the visit was the service, you don't get that kind of service in your average restaurant. The initial wait was long but we were glad we waited. Definitely the best Mexican in Edmond.

Excellent food and awesome customer service. The waiter , Aaron, did such a great job and made is feel like we were at home and we are from CA. I highly recommend this place for any local or traveling through looking for good Mexican food.

  • Karen G.

Great typical Ted's! Best tortillas anywhere. Had the spinach enchiladas and they were really good. Great service--waitress gave us the option on sides, which was nice to not have to ask what was available. Grilled veggies are really good! Plenty of chips and salsa and cheese sauce made readily available. It will continue to be my Mexican restaurant of choice!

  • Liz M.

Ted's freaking rocks! Not sure what the two star reviews are about, but Ted's outshines any Americanized Mexican restaurant in Columbus, OH. First off, their free salsa tastes fresh and is well balanced. The free queso is a super bonus and is really good queso at that. The chips are thin and crisp and they will also give you fresh fresh made flour tortilla for dipping too! Their guacamole salad is a great accompaniment to the chips and tortillas as well and worth the price is you're not ordering dinner. We had a large group and they did a great job with keeping us happy. Really friendly staff all around. I had top shelf margarita that was served in the little blue shaker like Chili's does. It really wasn't very good and I regretted ordering it. For dinner I got a specialty chimchanga with fajita chicken and poblanos with tomatillo sauces. The dish was SO delicious. I tasted of great quality ingredients and was well seasoned. The green sauce was great. I'd order it again in a heart beat. Then they top it all off with a free sopa. Yeah, it's just a fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar and honey, but it's a nice touch and I was happy to receive and eat it. The whole meal was overwhelmingly satisfying save for the margarita. The entree prices were a little high, but remember, you're getting tons of "free" food. It's worth it! I wish Ted's would expand to Ohio. They'd crush all the competition!

Oklahoma City is blessed with a wide variety of good, authentic, Mexican food choices. Why my fellow Okies flock to the various Ted's locations and wait 45 minutes or more to sit in an overly loud and in-your-neighbors-lap crowded place to eat highly Anglo-cized Mexican food is beyond me. Ted's Cafe Escondido is one of those curious places that everyone else seems to love, but has a permanent place in my "Meh" file at best. After a recent visit to their Edmond location, my opinion hasn't changed. My girlfriend lives close to the Edmond incarnation of Ted's Cafe Escondido, and we were starving and in the mood for something Mexican. Ever the optimist, I agreed to tag along. As expected, the place was packed and we were told there was a 30 minute wait. This is actually pretty low. My previous excursions to different Ted's locations a few years ago always resulted in at least a 45-60 minute (or worse) wait. One of my big complaints about this place has always been space. You're pretty jammed up against the people around you, and I could almost reach across and borrow the salt from the table across from us. OK so I've bitched about the wait, the noise and the seating. But how about the food? Well, I'm still on a roll there as well. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon, which should be in the neighborhood of Carne Asada tastewise. I received a mediocre sized plate (at $12.99? overpriced.) consisting of two tortillas filled with very dry cubes of beef, along with a side plate of Pico de Gallo and guacamole. Meh and Meh-er. For comparison, go to Abel's and order the same thing. You'll throw rocks at Ted's afterwards. Short version: Many great Mexican options in OKC. Go somewhere else.

The food was great, but the service was incredible! Our server's name was Nick & he was the best waiter I've ever had. Not only him, but every Ted's employee would glance to make sure we had what we needed each time they walked by. & their flour tortillas are heavenly!

If Yelp allowed half star ratings I would give Ted's 2.5 stars. The service is really good and attentive, and I did like the chips/salsa, tortillas, and sopapillas. It's a good thing they give you plenty of those, because from what I can tell, those are the best tasting things you get at Ted's. My entree was pretty bland and reminded me of a microwave dinner. I too am mystified that this place is so popular, but I think a lot of people here only care about quantity instead of quality. The service is really good, though....I just wish the staff had better food to give to people.

    (2)
  • Sneha P.

Yummy mexican food. We had the chicken fajita spinach enchiladas. The tortillas were delicious, so was the main course. The sopapillas were good too. Service was good. My main complaint would be that the decor is waaay too distracting and setup for toddlers. The food is delicious, and I will go back when I am in town.

    (4)
  • A M.

Great service in my experiences. If you're watching calories, do not eat here! Duh! The flour tortillas are sinfully delicious but packed with carbs. They do offer gluten free tortilla chips that are delicious. Nothing else is too spectacular. The drinks on the other hand-- lemonada de fruta... Get this margarita! It tastes exactly like a cherry limeade from Braums. Be prepared for a wait if it's in the evening on a weekend. If you don't want a wait, go in around 2pm (aside from Sunday). Your food will come out very quickly once you do order. They are fast paced so don't get offended it you feel rushed. I always leave a good tip, considering they are refilling chips and salsa constantly.

It's why those of us from the midwest have such a time with obesity! Oh, Ted's, we know you will keep bringing us endless chips and warm tortillas and salsa and queso, while we over eat your delicious menu of over sized portions of delectable perfection. We are guaranteed super attentive service at Ted's. Tex-Mex food is to die for. I am a huge fan. We sing with a collective voice "Oklahomans LOVE Teds!" Let's unbutton our pants and head there now!

Good tex-mex and pleasant atmosphere. Last time had a longer wait than typical, but worth the wait. Will certainly come back.

A bit pricey, but it is worth it! Since living in Tucson, I have been waiting to have wonderful authentic Mexican food again and finally found it. You can tell that the salsa is fresh. It is so nice to taste food that doesn't come straight out of a box. The tamales are wonderful. Don't forget to ask for your complimentary starter and sopapilla .

    (4)
  • Emily D.

If your definition of Mexican food is fluffy white flour tortillas slathered in copious amounts of cheese sauce followed by a chimichanga that weighs as much as a newborn, then this is your joint. You're in no danger of finding authentic Mexican food here, but try not to stuff yourself on the chips, cheese, tortillas, and 40 oz. soft drinks before your food comes, because it actually is tasty. The fajitas are always a good choice, and if you're even somewhat prudent there will be leftovers to take home to the little ones and/or eat the next day for lunch. This place is popular and there is the danger of children scurrying around. Beware. Otherwise, a great place and reliable choice for a family dinner in a warm atmosphere.

You can never go wrong at Ted's! You are immediately greeted with open arms and big smiles! Service is excellent and the food is delish! Fresh, fluffy tortillas and great salsas to go with it! I had the Plato Gordo and would recommend this to anyone who has a big appetite!

Ted's is a terrific reasonably priced authentic Mexican restaurant in the okc area. Service is lightning fast and friendly. There is usually a wait but worth it. Great take out option too and super option for families with kids.

  • Austin M.

The best thing about this place is the complementary fresh tortillas and cheese sauce as well as the salsa. In my opinion that is where the good review stops. The actual food that they serve is bland and cheap tasting. It starts with the cheese they use. The cheese sauce taste like something you would get from Taco Bell. In my opinion if a Mexican restaurant doesnt make the traditional white queso sauce it's not worth going to. They also use way to much shredded cheese in their entrees, a good Mexican dish should not have globs of cheese because that's all you will be able to taste.

  • Paul R.

Ah Ted's, the enigma of "Mexican" restaurants. It wins "Best of..." awards. So obviously people like this kind of food - it tastes good. The issue that makes this place puzzling is that one group of people say this is really good Mexican food, while another group (me) will say it's more of a caricature of Mexican food. Not authentic (by any stretch), not Tex-Mex, just an over the top push of a Mexican-themed business offering what they know people like most: popularity, cheese, getting full, etc. So my point? If you want to eat a lot of food, come here. If you want good tasting Mexican food, this isn't the place.

    (1)
  • Capt. S.

Margarita's were good. Salsa's were sub-par. Tortillas were the same quality I can get at any grocery store in Austin. Menu was uninspired. Just the typical enchilada, tacos, chimichanga & fajitas. As much as I'd heard about the place, I was expecting more.

  • Jeremy H.

This is why OKC-folk are fat. I'm not judging...it's just the truth. The food is great and you get lots of it. Is it the most authentic Mexican food? Nope. Is it great Tex-Mex? Yep! Tamales are the only thing that disappoint me. Everything else is good. The 4th star is for the service. Although they are under a lot of stress b/c of the constant influx of customers, the service has been great at every Ted's I've ever been to, and I've been going to Ted's for 10+ years now. Yeah, you might have to wait a bit...so plan ahead or just do take-out.

I regularly eat at Ted's. It is definitely hyped as the best Mexican restaurant in town. I'll almost agree to that, but I haven't eaten everywhere in town. :P The food is above average and comes to you fairly quickly. Its actually well timed with how long it takes you to enjoy their complimentary tortillas, chips, salsa and queso. The queso here is one of the few that I absolutely love. Its nothing special, but its just right for me. As for food selection, its as variable as any other Mexican restaurant you've ever been to. Quesadillas, nachos, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, chile rellano, etc. The only thing I have against Ted's is just as some others here have reported. The WAIT. If you come any time during peak hours, be prepared to wait 20 min or more in a crowded waiting area full of hungry people who like their space. Even ordering a to-go order is a hassle. I was told it would be ready in 30 minutes (sometimes 40!) and more often than not, you end up waiting half as long to get it. Not to mention this other crowd of people waiting to pick up their orders as well. This waiting area is just inside the doors and offers little space to stand for the steady stream of customers who are heading to dine in and find their own place to wait. Perhaps this isn't necessarily the establishments fault. Victim of popularity, I'd say. You can only have so big of a building, but if everyone decides they love it you can only accommodate so many. Even so, I hope to see some sort of expansion in the coming years! Definitely hit this place in the off hours between lunch and dinner times (1pm-5pm for me)!

What a great restaurant! We came with a group of 14 people and Ted's did a great job of accommodating our large group. A couple of us came in early in order to give them time to plan for us, so our wait time was very minimal. The service was outstanding - they kept bringing more tortillas and salsa, etc. I was impressed that the waiter went over each person's order carefully making sure they wanted everything that came with their order so they would be completely satisfied. Many different wait staff took care of our drinks and dirty dishes, etc. throughout the meal. But our primary waiter did a super job. And, the food was wonderful - more than we could eat. But "to-go" boxes were readily available. Would highly recommend you give Ted's a visit - you won't be disappointed.

Ted's always has fantastic service and a really thoughtful GF guide. They will bring you a basket of GF corn chips and always accommodate in any way. The "set up" is a delicious, filling setting on its own, but do not let it detract you from the other great menu items. The prices are fair, the food good, service great... a good thing all around.

Great food, great service couldn't have been a better experience. Orlando was quick and attentive to our large party: never and empty drink or delay in any request. He alerted the excellent chefs behind the scenes of our varying dietary requests/requirements and they even especially prepared tortillas that I could eat (without the wheat flour). The food was delicious! Overall my whole family and I enjoyed it and will certainly be back.

Overrated. Place is a local Be-Seen-At establishment. Food is not bad at all, in fact it is slightly above average. But not worth the horribly long wait (which is regularly in excess of an hour) or the price you'll pay ($12-18/ plate.) The tortillas are really good. It's only worth going during extreme off-peak hours and ordering off the lunch menu. Grew up on Mexican food in West Texas and Ted's, folks, isn't the best in town even though it wins local awards annually. I really don't understand why. The three or four times I've been there with friends I can't recall seeing any Hispanic folks there, which is really all I need to know. I once attempted to get carry out on my way home from work one evening. I called when I left my office and was told about 20 minutes. Went in to pick it up and waited 20 minutes. The lady stated they wait until you get there before they start cooking in so it's "fresh" when you take it out. Come on, give me a break. I think they like making you wai.

Ate at Ted's for the first time today and I wasn't disappointed. I love Mexican food and was a little skeptical that they would have good Mexican food in Edmond, OK. But it turns out they do. The food was good. The salsa was good. The service was great and the atmosphere was decent. And it doesn't hurt that they offer you complimentary chips, salsa, queso, fresh hot tortillas, and more. Overall, I had a really positive experience and I'll definitely go back.

So Ted's, for me, is the quintessential Tex Mex joint of Oklahoma. Great food, great atmosphere, and lots of freebies. I think my favorite part is the free nachos and queso, because they also give you free corn and flour tortillas, and free pickled veggies. Oh, and you also get free sopapillas for dessert. and free refills! Living in Boston for some time now, I miss restaurants that give you so much for free. As a student, this type of place is perfect - stuff your pockets, purse, and face with really good mexican carbs!! Great for a big group - the atmosphere is really lively. Although I must say, the restaurant used to be Bellini's. I'm dating myself - I hostessed there in high school. Anyway, the decor at the time was so upscale, very nice. Ted's basically trashed the place in terms of decor. They put in nasty drop ceiling, inexpensive seating. As an interior designer, they really did a pretty crappy job with the end design. But - you don't go there for the decor - the ambiance created by the people and the awesome food does it every time.

A little over rated because it's one of the few well-known Mexican restaurants in Oklahoma. The tortillas are good though and the services is too. A little expensive though. Around 10-15 dollars per person. I enjoy the tortilla soup and it is bottomless!

Ted's was recommended by our motel clerk & we were so pleased with the quality of the food! Although we were warned that there might be a long wait, we were seated within a couple of minutes. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff was extremely efficient. The salsa, chips & queso before meal were light & delicious. The margarita was perfect but too big for me to finish. The taco salad was good. The tortillas were the best & they made wonderful sopapillas with cinnamon sugar & honey at the end of the meal. I had chili reyanos with corn pudding, just excellent. Our waiter gave us the best service I think we've ever had in a restaurant.

Wow, this place was yummy. I had a group of 14 people to feed to include kids and senior adults. The service was just excellent and the Chips, Cheese and Salsa flowed to our table. No one ever had an empty glass. We arrived at opening time and didn't have to wait. This seems to be the Kid friendly restaurant of Edmond as the sheer amount of kids on this Saturday Morning visit was almost overwhelming. Tortillas made fresh behind glass and my kids loved to watch... as did I. I got the Gordito meal and left Full! Recommend.

Note: This is probably the best of the Ted's locations. Overrated, but has a few great items. Okay, Ted's... Long was I told that this was God's gift to Mexican food. Many were those who loyally braved 2 hour lines (on a slow day). Ted's was a legend in the OKC metro for couple years before I actually tried it. Then came the experience, and many more that followed (including at least two dines at each location), and now I am a Ted's veteran. After all the hype and hysteria, what do I have to say about the place? It's okay. Don't get me wrong; Ted's has some tremendous items. Well, really just one - their tortillas. These are probably the best tortillas I've ever had, though I feel they are equally matched at Mamaveca in Norman. Most of the rest of their food is just average quality, especially their entrees, but the tortillas really are tremendously good. That said, if you go just for the "complimentary" items (which is an oxymoron in this context), it's like almost $7 by themselves! If you get an entrée, it's usually about $12-20. To me, there is just too much great competition around for some tortillas to merit that kind of price tag! Likes: Great tortillas and good food overall. Dislikes: LONG waits and high prices. Why wait an hour to be seated for Ted's 4 star food when you can be seated immediately at Chelino's/Mamaveca/Palomas/Tarahumara's/Pepe Delgado's and eat close to as good, if not better (in some cases) food? Especially considering that an entrée is about $3-5 cheaper at any of those places than the same is at Ted's! This is why, in opposition of the swarm of people who insist that there is one Ted's to rule them all, I say it's a bit overrated. Ted's serves very good Mexican, but it's way over priced and not everything it's famed to be.

I do like Ted's a lot. I always end up getting the same thing - chicken quesadillas which are usually good, sometimes the end ones don't have enough chicken in them but thats OK. Flour tortillas and queso are delicioso. Yes, it is always insanely crowded on any night. We usually order and then go pick it up and take it home but if you do that, order an hour before you want to eat then watch out for the crowds when trying to get in the door as well.

Great Mexican food Not quite as good of quality as 63rd and May Ted's location. Pricey Mexican food but you're paying for the great pre-meal setup and dessert as well. Very clean interior. Monday nights often no wait. Weekend wait times can be lengthy.

AWESOME food & you can't beat the freebies that you get before & after your meal. Definitely our goto place for Mexican food. Usually a bit of a wait when we have gone, but well worth it. Wish they had call ahead seating.

Best Tex Mex...period. Best service...period. Whenever I go home, I have to go here at least once to get my fix of their salsa, fresh tortillas, and guacamole salad. Try their atomic salsa mixed with their original salsa. It is the best you can get- you will go away stuffed with plenty of leftovers.

Great food and top notch service. The only thing that stinks is the wait time... average wait is 45 mins. The flower tortilla are home made and delicious

In my opinion the long wait to be seated really wasn't worth it. I had the beef fajitas, I know how typical right? But! Any great Mexican joint should gave great fajitas. They were just mediocre so therefore I give Teds 4 stars. The service was awesome and the chips and salsa were too. I'd come back but not for the fajitas.

    (4)
  • Greg G.

Food is pretty good. They have service down to a science. The beer/adult drinks are ridiculously over priced. $5 a pop for modelo, i know it's always marked up but this is nuts.

  • Frank W.

    (2)

Yum!!

First time here and I was thinking it was going to be a chili's clone. No! It wasn't. It tastes like good tex-mex with LARGE portions. I tried all three salsas, regular, atomic, and habanero. Don't bother with the habanero, you would maybe like to taste your food...overall very pleased.

So much complimentary food before the meal came I was almost to full to eat! I had chicken chili rellano and husband had tamales. Both dinners were good. What was outstanding was the service Cassie gave us. Best service we have had in ages!

Absolutely love this place! They're always busy, so there's usually a wait time, which is the only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. The food is great and they're service is almost always great too. I would definitely recommend this place!

We had a party of 4 and each ordered different entrees, with everyone completely enjoying the food. The best part of the visit was the service, you don't get that kind of service in your average restaurant. The initial wait was long but we were glad we waited. Definitely the best Mexican in Edmond.

Food is pretty good. They have service down to a science. The beer/adult drinks are ridiculously over priced. $5 a pop for modelo, i know it's always marked up but this is nuts.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
