Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

They have good food and boba teas. But, compared to other tea places they fall behind in taste and the organization of their counter space, which is the first thing you see while walking in.

I have tried several of their teas, overall I'm not so impressed. They have this watered down taste and not a whole lot of flavor. The boba pearls turn my tongue black every time. The taro milk tea is the only decent drink. They have a punch card for the teas: after 9 purchases, you get the 10th one for free. The food isn't all the impressive either. I've tried a few different appetizers like the fried tofu, egg rolls, fried wonton, fried corn balls, and soups. The only thing I like is the hot and sour soup. You can get a decent sized bowl for only a couple of dollars. Everything else just tasted meh (I've had better). The general chicken was not bad. It just came out cold and the rice was dry. Service is hit or miss. Waiters are slow regardless of the time of day or the amount of customers that are present. I would only come back here at night when every other place is closed - Tao has later hours. It's a good place to hang out and chat with friends and the staff leaves you alone.

Very satisfied and employees are so nice. Very fast and the guy that works here is making sure if everything is okay. affordable and 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for this restaurant.

Tao cafe is cheap and usually pretty quick. They have boba teas as well as most entrees that you'd find at most Chinese restaurants. They seat you, but you pay at the front when you're finished. It's somewhat hit or miss with the staffing but the chicken fried rice is to die for and it's a huge portion. The rice boxes are a great bargain as well and are just the right amount if food.

I like the bubble tea the most of this place. It is a clean and a neat place. The service can do much better and improve but it isn't bad. Being a student I found the price were not that bad. But I would like see few authentic Chinese dishes in the menu.

The tea is amazing. I never bought into the boba craze, but there's something special about a pot of hot rose milk tea that injects serenity into the veins. There's quite a few options for flavors, but do expect it to be fairly sweet. The food is pretty good, if a bit overshadowed by the tea. The really nice part is that it's only $5-7 for a fairly substantial lunch portion. The service... Okay, it's a mixed bag. The second time, service was very quick and on top of things. The first time was a series of inattentive encounters that led to the one and only time I left zero tip. I don't know what happened, and I'm not going to dwell on it. Sometimes people have extremely bad days and I'm glad I gave this place a second chance. I'll keep going for now. If service is as good as the second time reliably, it's really a five star place. For now, I'm holding back until I'm comfortably convinced. The fact that it's worth repeated testing is a good enough sign on its own though, no?

This place is basically an upscale version of Quickly's/Tapioca Express for those of you who know what these places are, but in short, Tao Cafe does Boba and does it with great proficiency and finesse; I ordered the taro milk tea with tapioca thinking I was going to get one of those cheap plastic cups with sealed tops -- instead I got an entire kettle full of rich milk tea with taro-flavored tapioca balls which I had to share with two other people simply due to the fact that generosity and blessings should be shared with as much and with as many as possible. I only came in here for bubble tea, but I did see a decent repertory of asian "cafe favorites" which I will definitely try out the next time I'm back in Oklahoma.

Our family went to the Tao for dinner and we generally were underwhelmed. We started with some hot and sour soup, which was the best part of the meal. We also had some spring rolls that looked like they were miniature. They tasted fine, however they were tiny. We had ordered Beef Chow Mien, Shrimp Chow Mien, and Tofu Singapore Noodles. The Beef and Shrimp Noodles were flavorless and had a lot of onions and hardly anything else. There were several pieces of Beef/Shrimp in each dish. The Singapore Noodles were more flavorful, the Tofu was not firm. I didn't specify firm to be fair. We had some bubble tea and a diet Coke (served in a can with a glass). The service was good, however the food just wasn't to my liking. We spent about $45 for three. I could have paid more and got a better meal next door at Cafe Icon. I also could have paid about 25% less at Panda across the shopping center. I would have had to settle for more grease, but that's what you are in for (no surprises).

Friendly staff and wonderful food! They were so nice and I love their boba drinks! They also have delicious fried rice!

I ordered the Thai tea boba, avocado boba, black tea sweetened, chicken bento, pork bento, and veggie lo mein. Thai tea with boba: Thai was good. Boba wasn't that good. It wasn't consistent. Some were hard in the center, some were mushy, and some were just right. Avocado boba: the avocado was alright, boba was the same as above. Black tea sweetened was alright, this one didn't have boba. Chicken bento and pork bento were average. Veggie lo mein was pretty good, although it had a bit too much sauce. Staff is friendly and helpful. Above all this place is average. I don't think I will be going again unless someone else wanted to go. I won't be ordering any boba drinks though.

Happy to update my review and bump it up a few stars. The place is much cleaner with some fresh coats of paint to boot. No more ants. No more dirt everywhere. No sticky counters. Great service. The teas and boba tea etc. are still delicious as always. Dinner was pretty good tonight. The appetizers were still a little off... not super tasty. But same large portions at a very inexpensive price!

This is the most legit boba tea joint I've found in Oklahoma to date! I chatted with the nice guy behind the counter for a bit as he was making my boba orders (1 regular milk tea with boba and mixed jelly, 1 honeydew melon green tea with double boba). He's from Hong Kong originally, finishing his undergrad degree at OCU. A HK employee = Authentic boba tea! I was pleased with the texture and consistency of my boba balls. Perfectly chewy, not too tough or soggy. The flavor of the tea was delicious and my boyfriend was thrilled with his order as well! Plenty of parking, sleek and comfortable interior perfect for studying, writing, or just hanging out. Looking forward to coming back and trying the food. Yay for the boba tea at Tao Cafe!!

I completely forgot about this place after attending university! This was my husband and I's home away from home during grad school! The food is sooooooo good (I usually got the chicken fried rice, my man friend mixed it up. All delicious). The bubble tea is very good. And the price is the best! The atmosphere is great. We were always able to hang out and study here between sessions. I think I'll be visiting again very soon.

Our first take out order and the food was pretty good. They have good egg rolls, edamame and the spring rolls were OK. Chicken lo mein and beef flat noodles were my favorite entrees that we had. Spicy tofu was my least favorite selection but it was something we knew we might not like when we ordered. Family run place with some really great slushes that are almost like eating flavored snow.

Good food and good tea. I like the decor. Check out the cool wall paper in the restrooms.

Ughhh definitely would not recommend this place. This review is just for the drinks. I have not tried the food yet! But I got a boba and it was $3 which is pretty normal, but the taste was definitely just not there. It was bland and didn't even really have that much of the milk tea flavor. Definitely would not recommend this place for drinks. But maybe I'll come back and see how their food is.

I stopped in a little bit after lunch time and was greeted by a very friendly staff member. I sat and ordered my normal-when-I'm-trying-a-new place: Sweet and Sour Chicken. It was awesome!! Several freebies came with the meal, like a cheese wonton, an egg roll, hot and sour soup and of course steamed rice. The sauce was served in a bowl instead of already on the chicken, which I loved. I hate soupy chinese food! Also, the breading on the chicken was just right! The portion size was perfect as well- I didn't leave feeling like I was over full, but was very satisfied. I will definitely go back!

Food is good enough for cheap lunch. I originally only got the boba tea from here which I still love, but they have a cheap 6 buck bento box, comes with choice of main course, ie general tso or sweet and sour, etc, then rice, cream cheese wonton, and soup with egg roll. Not a bad deal for a lunch, but pretty slow. Small places, but usually can't get out of there in under and hour no matter how much I rush. Drinks are delish, I get green tea with honeydew with strawberry jellies, it's a treat and very filling for a snack.

Decent food. The crab wontons are amazing. Had the curry noodles and was impressed with how much you got for the price. Bubble tea was also pretty good. But the wait service was horrible. They sat me down, gave me a menu, was back in two minutes with my drink and to take my order, brought the food about four minutes later, and then was not waited on again. The noodles were spicy so I ended up eating the ice from my empty drink to take the edge off. I had to go to the counter to ask for my ticket, and they did not seem too happy. Sorely disappointed.

I've been eating at Tao Cafe since they first opened and always look forward to a seafood rice box and hot jasmine tea. It's delicious and wallet friendly. The service has always been friendly, but rather quirky. Most of the waiters are asian students from nearby UCO, and are known for serving a table, one meal at a time, rather than serving everybody together. While it's still one of my favorite places, I'm sorry to report that in my last few visits, I've noticed a slight decline in food freshness and a change in the ratio of ingredients (i.e. less shrimp/more vegetables). In spite of this " I'm still a huge fan.
(4)Niegel P.
The food is really good and at a great price. The drinks are really top notch. The only nit pick i can give is that when there busy the service tends to go down in quality. This has happened to me a couple of times but not bad enough to dismiss this place all together.

Newly opened. Nice little place with good decor and most friendly folks. I suggest the Rice Box. Plentful. Rice, Bamboo shoots and pork (other entries available but only one I have tried) wonton, spring roll, Egg Drop Soup. They have good coffee. They are big on the Boba. If you are wanting some give it a try and let us know.

Excellent value and quality. Me and my companions were very pleased with the service and food. The spicy shrimp was outstanding but the spicy tofu dish was the big hit.
(5)Heather M.
My best friends and I go here on a regular basis. We love the variety of flavoured green teas with different flavoured jellies. Brilliant to mix and match. You can never go wrong. Each one of us has a fav. Mine is Orange green tea with mango jellies, but I change it up quite a bit. Second favorite would be grape green tea with green apple jellies. my friend Lauren gets the Kiwi green tea with strawberry jellies EVERY single time. Ingenious combination and Sam gets peach green tea with Strawberry jellies. The drinks take a while to make, so if we're not getting something to eat, we sit at the couch and flip through old magazines. If we are eating, we have a seat and sit for a while before someone comes and takes our order. I have a short temper for slow service, but I have come to terms that that is how the Asians run their business. They do need more servers at times, especially around lunch time. I usually order the japanese tofu! Oh its divine. it comes nice and fried with a dipping sauce of some sort. We usually all split the edamame, and if were there for dinner, I order a box of kung pao chicken. It comes with a spring roll, egg soup, a cheese wonton, rice, cabbage and the chicken. Its a nice size meal for a great price. My ONLY complaint would be the slow service and the quiet awkward atmosphere. there needs to be some sort of music. I always feel like the other people in the room are listening to your conversations. Plan on being there for at LEAST an hour. Oh and if you're a single guy, its a brilliant place to meet girls. They flock to this place. We have a nickname for the entire area its located in: Bitch Central. Its the jelly drinks. Girls LOVE them.

Great prices! Very tasty. However you don't know what your eating with some of the pieces of meat. They can get chewy. Over all good place. The only annoying part of this restaurant is how small the water cups are. I love the sesame chicken rice box. For only $5.50 it is a large meal that is comprised of egg drop soup, rice, a wonton, an egg roll, and chicken.

Haven't tried the food. This place gets 5 stars for being a really good place for boba tea. You have a choice of black or jasmine green tea- both are brewed ahead of time. No powder mixes here. Good selection of flavors and every time I've been they've made it just right, not too sweet, and with the perfect amount of boba. Peach green tea is my favorite but they have a tastey blueberry flavor which I rarely see in other boba tea places. For those that just want coffee or hot tea they have a decent selection to choose from also. This is the best place for boba tea in the oklahoma city area.
(5)Kathryn R.
Looove Tao!!! The milk tea boba drinks are awesome, and I love the box meals. The service is fast and friendly. Brought cousins from California here when they visited!
(5)Brian K.
I visited here for the first time this week. It was good. Friendly service. The Hot and Spicy Shrimp was really flavorful and good - very fresh. They have lots of drinks to choose from, but I just had iced black tea... and it was amazingly good. I would stop here just to grab an iced tea to go.
(5)Ting L.
For the amount of food and the quality of food you get, they have an unbeatable price! When I'm in Edmond and craving Taiwanese food & boba tea, the closest place (and by far the best in edmond) is Tao Cafe. They have really good fried rice and also, try their rice boxes.
(4)Spencer S.
ordered to-go ricebox, when i opened the to-go box the styrofoam box has holes. I am guessing is the food is too hot when they put in and melted the box. the price is very affordable but the food is very mediocre. the restaurant tables are very sticky, the bathroom is very dirty too.
(1)Lauren U.
Love their rice boxes! I wasn't a huge fan of the noodles. The food is really good for the money. They always get orders together quickly when you take out.

Now that I no longer live in Edmond, I really miss the food and the service of Tao Cafe. I started going to Tao way back when they originally opened and had little to no customers. I am so proud of how they've grown from a little hole in the wall to a super cool establishment that had to expand because they're so great. I love the style of the food. How it comes in the little bento box style platters. Each item separated by the partitions in the bento box is finished with style and the flavors of everything separate is so good as well as the flavors together meld really well. They are always more than happy to change items to be more vegetarian or if you'd like a different style of sauce (brown or white or etc). I've had just about everything at Tao and it's delicious. I think several people have mentioned the boba and bubble teas. I love the green apple and grape. I was skeptical about mixed jellies but those are super good too. The hot black tea is amazing as well. It's so flavorful and just undescribable. I asked the owner if I could buy some of the tea and she sold me a big mason jar of it for a few dollars and it tastes just as extraordinary at home. I haven't lived in OKC now for 3 years and I still have some of the black tea in the jar because I'm so afraid to drink the last bit because it's soooooo good. I almost feel like I'm not paying enough when I leave Tao, since their prices are so reasonable. The atmosphere is great and authentic. It's even more cool when the students from UCO come over and fill the place up and laugh and carry on in their native languages. Tao is and has been a wonderful addition to Edmond, and when I visit I make it a point to stop in and get some wonderful food.

I've become a bubble tea addict and this is the place to get my fix. I tried the combination lo mein and egg drop soup this week and I will be sticking to the bubble tea. The lo mein was OK but greasy and the egg drop soup was so unnaturally colored it was orange. Be sure to get a bubble tea card...buy nine and the 10th is free. :)
(4)Jack T.
I have been going here for quite some time and always recommend this place to friends that are nearby. I always order the Curry Chicken fried rice spicy, which is always fresh and consistent on flavor. The portions are generous for the price and the staff are extremely friendly! The Bento boxes have very good portions as well for the price! I have not tried their boba however. Give it a try!
(5)Nima C.
Cheap the food is Soso but I think it worth that money. Only cost 7 to eat meal. So we can say it is ok.
(3)Evelyn P.
Beef Flat noodle is good ! Chicken with mixed vegetables also another good item to get. Bento boxes are not that great as the egg roll most likely cones from frozen store bought ! Have great boba drinks! Try the lychee with boba or black jelly !
(2)Jenn C.
Delicious! I always leave there stuffed from their rice boxes. So much food for so little price! The service is always fast and the boba tea is super yummy! I recommend the Taro boba tea.

"I'm going to eat healthy, I'm going to eat healthy, I'm going to eat.... Ahhh, screw it." New Year resolutions about eating better and exercising more have never failed more grandly than in 2013. In 2012, I managed to make it to the six month mark. I didn't even make it to the end of January this time, and it's because of delicious places like Tao Cafe. The feeling of shame from being so weak-willed is quickly remedied by a mouthful of Chicken Fried Rice with Curry Flavor. I ordered what I always order. The aforementioned fried rice. If you get it to go, you will be given so much food that you can split it with two other people. No joke. I ate my fill, and saw my brothers 30 minutes later on campus, and gave them the leftovers. They were equally satisfied after splitting the meal. And it's only $6.00-7.00. I also decided to mix it up and try some of the Taro Bubble Tea instead of the usual Thai Tea. It had been a while since I tried Taro, and it was a refreshing drink, quite delicious although a little grittier (I don't know if that's the right word) than I prefer. Still, quite enjoyable. I thought about getting some spring rolls, but I couldn't bring myself to spend almost $3.00 for something that I knew I could get for a lot cheaper in the Asian district. The most disappointing part of my recent experience: as I waited for my food, I happened to be standing next to what had to be two of the most ignorant, stereotypical sorority girls I have ever seen in my life as they made some incredibly racist comments about the staff. Honestly, the words that came out of their mouths should make their parents want to hide in a hole from shame. I expected better from college students of all people. The price of being a popular college student hangout is that you occasionally have to deal with such tools and not just nice people. Like me.
