Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Seemed a little understaffed for Cinco de Mayo and no specials! Table was cleared, but had to asked to have the cheese sauce and salsa drips wiped off when we sat down. Had called ahead for seating info and told no need to have name on list. Had a short wait, but noticed several people who came in later had called ahead for seating, so I will regardless next time. Waitress was very nice. Had a bit of a wait for the food, but not horrible. Will likely go back. Miss the I240 location!

This was my first time at this restaurant and it was amazing! They seat you down to some fresh homemade tortilla chips and salsa. They had a whole page of margaritas, I got the margarita skinny. I couldn't make up my mind so I had a combo plate with a chicken taco, green chili chicken enchilada, and a salad with mango dressing. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. He one flaw is that I asked for no salt on the rim and it came with salt. Overall great experience and I'm coming back soon!

Consistently pretty good food and good value for your money. I'm a big fan of the create your own combo. They're also very generous with their chips for take-out orders. However, it is a chain and is subject to the same pitfalls as any other chain.

The server (Kevin) was right on. Great service. The fajitas were good. Everything was hot! I will go here again.

This a staple diet for me. Haha. For whatever reason this location is convenient and I know that it will be no line to get a table and the food will be good. I sign up for frequent emails here and I get free queso coupons and for my birthday I got free coupons for that month as well. The best part is we usually get takeout and the chips are free and the salsa is free also so it is a bargain.. The chips are about as good as you can get.. The other best chips are chipotle and sprouts brand restaurant chips. I get the triple choice dinner with cheese enchilada , chicken enchilada and a tamale. The only thing about this place is the sometimes too talkative waiter and too busy for immediate service when you sit at the table. It is probably consistent with a Mexican chain restaurants though.

Tasty, not authentic flavor, but great tex mex. Clean place! Fresh food, and friendly staff! Cheap eats ;)

It was my first time at this restaurant. I tried the Mesquite-Grilled Steak fajita. It was not as good as Ted cafe's or Mama Roja's fajitas. They served chips and salsa BUT charged us about $3 for queso!! I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that charges for queso. Mexican restaurants usually serve chips with unlimited salsa an queso. I was not satisfied with their food and service at all!

Typically this is one of our staples for lower cost and yet still very good Tex/Mex food. Good variety, good prices. Service is hit or miss. Usually not very crowded. Drinks are typically pretty good. I dig the street tacos personally, in particularly the Brisket Tacos. Today the service wasn't that great but we will still go back. I really should emphasize the lack of a big crowd here typically, which isn't indicative of the quality of the place, but instead should be viewed as an opportunity to go in and get a seat very quickly almost any time of day. If you are in Edmond and want a clean, friendly, lower priced Tex/Mex restaurant, then you really should stop by On The Border. You'll thank me that you didn't have to wait an hour for a table.

I don't know what the food, salsa, or water tastes like. We were seated for 20 minutes and never got a server. To save the hostess from some of my hungrier comrades, I nicely told her about the problem. That got her up from flirting with some waiters in the bar area but when I sat down still no one came...so we left. It's always a hassle to try to eat out on a Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma.

When you are in the mood for TexMex, this place always delivers a constant experience. They can be a bit understaffed at lunch so sometimes the service is slow. All in all, seems better than your average on the border.
