I was a big fan of Tropical Cafe, the predecessor to Cafe Icon, and waited patiently, with great anticipation for Cafe Icon to open. Well, it finally opened and I have visited the new spot numerous times. While I miss some of the casualness of the old place, I also like the new atmosphere. It's beautiful in a sterile, monochrome kind of way. I love the Hibachi Chicken and have also tried maybe six or seven of the Sushi offerings. All were very good. The new wait staff are very friendly and helpful. They haven't always gotten things right, but they have gone to great lengths to correct mistakes. If I were forced to say something negative, I'd say it's a bit pricey. It's not difficult to drop a $100 bill for dinner and drinks for two people. I'm a fan and will be back again, and again.

Ordered as take out on New Years Eve. We had the Samurai, Cowboy and Big Apple rolls and they were all fantastic and fresh! A little on the pricey side but I would pay it again as long as the quality is the same...tough to find good sushi here.

I recently moved to Edmond from Seattle and was truly needing my sushi fix. My son and I were near the stores and just by chance saw this place. I was very impressed of the atmosphere, the friendly service, *which he was very knowledgeable of all items on the menu!* and the ambiance was like I stepped back to Seattle. The food is divine!!! The wine selection was impressive and I will be going back

Super awesome modern atmosphere. I really nice big selection of sushi, more selection that not her places. Everything I have tried I've loved. But also hibachi options if you aren't a sushi fan. Also, great desserts.

Great place for sushi and sashimi. Their 'Scorpion Roll' is better than the regular spider rolls. They use real soft shell blue crabs!

This is an excellent addition to Edmond and OKC. Fish is flown in daily from Hawaii so it is as fresh as possible. There is a great selection of rolls, that have complex taste and texture. Excellent saki choices as well. The decor is modern and service is professional and friendly. They also have vegetarian rolls like the cherry blossom that are delicious.. It is the best sushi I've had in OK .

  • Kevin G.

So far Icon is the best sushi I have found in Oklahoma, and I have tried many. considering it is a land locked location the fish is relatively fresh or properly thawed. other than the lack of a Saki menu I would recommend Icon.

I've gone to cafe icon a few times for lunch. The sushi is very tasty. I did have some issues with how tightly it was wrapped, but they were training a new chef. The atmosphere is really great, and I do enjoy their sushi!

I was not expecting the nice atmosphere when I walked into this unsuspecting strip mall restaurant! I was so pleasantly surprised. This is by far the best sushi I've had in Edmond since my favorite closed down on Broadway. (Not a huge The Sushi Bar fan). The fish is very fresh and the specials were so en pointe. I actually ordered another dish instead of dessert! They have a full bar and a decent wine selection for a small sushi establishment. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgable. There is room in the back for a large party/meeting. Great for a lunch or a date night!!

So chic and modern for a shopping center Edmond restaurant. While heading up to Edmond with CM/my boss Julie for a meeting we decided to eat while we met. Having both never been to Icon we practically read each other's minds that, that is where we wanted to go. A productive lunch meeting and the opportunity to review a new spot made it a win win! I didn't have the chance to view it on Yelp before we got there so I was going in totally blinded, very unlike me. Cafe Icon has a large sushi lists but pairs it with a book full of pictures so you know exactly what you are ordering. This is pretty important to me when getting sushi! 5 stars for Cafe Icon no question. Our server was attentive and friendly. We started with green tea and the classic edamame. Between the three of us dining we also shared the seared tuna and took bites from each other's rolls, the caterpillar roll, kaboom roll and the spicy baby. So glad I finally had the chance to stop in and can't wait to spread the word about this Edmond spot!

The hubs dragged me here last weekend and the sushi was pretty much inedible. $60 and I threw away half the food. Very disappointed with the quality this visit - I won't return on my dime. Update: I had hoped someone from the restaurant would see the review and reach out. A shame the management never contacted me. We spent the last 2 New Years Eves here as it was close to home and everyone liked it... not this year!

We came for lunch and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is very nice and trendy, and the staff and server were friendly and really helpful. The menu had great pics, which made it easier to choose. We ordered some sashimi dishes and several rolls and crepe desserts. We thoroughly enjoyed the sashimi dishes (icon fire hamachi is awwwwesome and tuna and salmon sensation). The fish is fresh and dressings used were delightful!! The rolls however were average. While they were unique and different from what I've had around town, they didn't amaze me. We had the Golddigger, lotus on fire, and big apple. Rolls were rather pricy for a typical roll size. We also ordered two dessert crepes. They're HUGE! A burrito size crepe! We had the strawberry and pudding crepe and the other we had strawberry banana whipped cream. Both were yum and definitely big enough to share.

This is hands down the best sushi joint in Edmond and the Oklahoma City metro area! My husband and I have been there twice and both times the owner has come to our table to introduce himself. The second time we came was for date night and the host seated us near a table with several children. The owner saw what happened and came over immediately to move us to another table away from the kids. Very classy move! As others have mentioned, the decor in this place is upscale without being stuffy. In talking to the owner, the chairs came from Italy and the lighting comes from Germany. Details are very important to the owner and it shows! As far as food goes, you can't go wrong with either the Cafe Icon Signature Roll and the Phoenix Roll. Both times we ordered sashimi and both times we went with the special of the day. The owner loves to tell customers about his fish guy that calls him every week and the various places, such as Hawaii, that the fish gets flown in from. I've never heard of some of the fish, but all of it has been extremely fresh and very good! If you're looking for a place with great decor, excellent service, and even better food then this is the place for you!

Cafe Icon, please don't ever slow your roll. This isn't your typical order 2 rolls kinda place (unless you're really, really hungry!) Yes, the rolls are insanely massive. Obvi, try to go with a group and everyone order one and share. I came here recently with family and we started with the spicy edamame. It wasn't an "oh my gosh I ate the sun" kind of hot, but have a glass of water nearby. Being a newbie, I ordered 2 rolls - but shared! My favorites I tried of the night were the sweet potato and rock n' roll... roll. Everything overall was fresh and flavorful. Dinner ambiance here calls for dressing up a tad (take a hot date here,) but you can totally get away with casual. The lighting is dim and the tables are spread out nicely to accommodate any size of group. Also, bar seating is available!

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent environment, and excellent presentation! You can tell the owners and management put a lot of thought into every detail. I'm sad that it took me so long to try it! This is my new go to sushi place!

This is our favorite sushi restaurant in Edmond. We try to eat here once a week. The owner is always there and knows our drink orders when we walk in! :)

Best sushi I've had in Oklahoma! Staff was super awesome and friendly! Being from hawaii I was a bit skeptical but I must say the fish was extremely fresh. Owner was extremely accommodating I felt like I was a regular!

  • Abbie R.

Great sushi! loved the atmosphere and the new design of the former tropical café. I've tried about 5 different sushi rolls and were all good. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly. My only complaint would be the price! they are charging a bit too much for what you are getting. I suggest offering a late night "happy hour" with deals on sushi. They would get much more business from UCO students living in the area that could afford good sushi after a late night!

It's amazing how there aren't over 20 reviews since the opening of this place. This place deserves the attention and best of OKC newest restaurant! I came in late hour and spoken with the master chef. He was originally from Dallas and the Cafe Icon caught his attention to come renovate the menu for this restaurant. The decor was pretty top notch besides some parts where they exposed some imperfection. Their sushi is definitely unique and fusion of other cultures. Really loved the sushi and we will be back soon!

So happy that we found this place. The service from our waitress was great and the owner stopped by to recommend drinks and check up on us (and brought our little one Oreos for dessert!). We ordered a couple of different kinds of hibachi and sushi rolls. Everyone in my family loved the food. The rolls were fresh, very tasty and well presented and the hibachi items were delicious. We cannot wait to go back.

Had lunch for the first time at Cafe Icon recently. The first thing I noticed was the decor of the restaurant. It was very modern but comfortable. There was four of us and each ordered a couple different rolls. I had the Santa Fe and Samurai roll with a side of soup. We shared a couple orders of edamame. I asked the waitress about side items and she seemed very confused by this question. The only item she mentioned was soup so I went with that. Our edamame was served quickly and fresh. Not as much salt as I would like, but not a big deal. Let me just say that I don't eat a lot of sushi, but I've had enough to know some rolls that I really love and others not so much. The Samurai roll is by far the best roll I've had. There's something about the spice mixed with the sweet coconut shrimp that was perfect! The Santa Fe roll was great as well. Our server was friendly, but my tea went dry for about 30 minutes before I could flag someone down for a refill. Overall a good experience and I'd like to try it again soon.

I thought it was good and the place was really clean. There weren't many people in there when we went so it was quiet. The food came out promptly and was plated well. It's just a normal ol' restaurant but it isn't anything super special or need to visit.

We have been to Cafe Icon three times and have not been disappointed. Their selection of sushi is impressive by itself, but then they also have hibachi entrées, lava stone dishes and much more. Definitely a good place to go if you want sushi and others in your party do not. As others have mentioned, the prices do seem high, so we usually go with a groupon. However, this is a locally owned business as we have liked the owners since the old days of Tropical Cafe, so the prices don't bother me so much. The presentation is always lovely, the service is great and the food creative.

Nice interior, good service, order came out fast. Recommend the chocolate cake dessert - it was the best part of the meal.

Best sushi in OKC. Great quality and great service. Not much else to say! Definitely try the icon roll and the king salmon nigiri.

Have been here a few times, and it's great food every time. A bit expensive when you get drinks etc, but overall a great atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

My wife and I were in for a late dinner on a Saturday evening. We had the avocado shrimp appetizer and a few sushi rolls. Everything was excellent and the staff and management were very polite and attentive.

My love and I decided to hit up this restaurant when perusing through Groupon. I immediately liked the Sophisticated Chic style of the restaurant. They had jazz playing, a black/white/red/silver theme, an extravagant chandelier, and an awesome light accent that constantly changed colors throughout the venue. When they are pretty packed, they either turn the music low or off so the patrons aren't yelling over each other. It was quite dead for our first trip on a Saturday night. We were the first ones there; they seated us in the middle of the large room. Another couple showed after half an hour. I was a little jealous that they were seated in the circle area near the large window that kept the restaurant seeming very spacious. The tables are a little high, and you can't scoot in very close, so I constantly felt like I was going to drop my food on my lap before it would make it to my mouth. I'm pretty surprised that the chopsticks they use are wooden. I actually got a splinter from them! The waiter was very attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of. Now for the food. Appetizer: Crab Cigar - Delicious! It came out piping hot and with plenty of their thai chili sauce. The Rolls: Big Apple - A large fresh roll with a white fish that features a slice of crisp apple. Beauty and the beast - Two Complimenting fresh rolls with a perfect amount of toppings. Philadelphia - Fresh and tidy. I would order any of these rolls again. They were large and tasty. The fish was pretty fresh, the wasabi had the perfect kick, and the gari was in an ideal bite size for cleansing the palate. We decided not to have dessert, but they had all kinds of cake flavor for any palate. We were a little disappointed that they didn't have tempora ice cream. My second visit (another Groupon) resulted in a just as wonderful service experience. This time, they were packed! We had to park on the other end of the strip! The service was a little slower, but he had a couple of other tables - including one of an estimated 8 people. This time we snagged the seat next to the window in the circle area that I coveted. It was just as nice as I expected it to be. The other two areas of the restaurant are a large room near the back and a corner on the other side of the restaurant. I would dare to say that every experience at Cafe Icon can have a different feel depending on where you sit. On our second trip, The rolls we chose this time were just not up to par. Some of the flavors just did not mesh well and we wouldn't order any of them again. A couple were okay... but we've had so many better rolls. Appetizer: Spicy edamame - pretty small for the price. The Rolls: Fisherman's - If you really like panko, you just might like this. Louisiana - Their icon sauce really took over the Crawfish. Stop N Go - Individually, I like all of the ingredients - not so much separately. Firecracker - The only time we would come again, save for a half off deal, is to try their Lava Stone. It seems to be an experience in food that is a must try - you cook your own food in front of you on a lava stone. They do offer to cook it for you if you want to skip that part. Otherwise, there are several other sushi places that have delicious fish at a much more attractive price. I don't want to name drop in another review, but I can think of a similar high end sushi place with a similar atmosphere and slightly lower prices. The prices at Cafe Icon aren't really backed up in flavor or portion size.

Best sushi in town for sure! It isn't great with kids but is wonderful for a date night. We also get it to go often. It's pricier than other sushi places but definitely worth it. Try the crab cigar appetizer too --- so yummy!!

Excellent experience all around at Cafe Icon. I had the Rock m Roll sushi. Husband had Hibachi shrimp. Great food, great service and lively atmosphere. We will be back - again and again.

This place was much better than I had hoped. The place is very clean and tastefully laid out. I was a little confused about the three different menus. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was much better that I expected. The sushi was fresh and of good quality. The person who prepared the sushi was obviously very skilled. The service was efficient and not overbearing. I was very surprised to find quality sushi in Edmond. I was very impressed and will return.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. The only reason I give it a four star is because it can get pricey but it's totally worth it if you want some good sushi! I have gone several times and all the rolls are a good size and very tasty! I usually get the volcano roll and the kaboom! I have tried so many and I can't complain at all!

Before I even stepped foot inside the door, I was already impressed with this restaurant. Looking though the windows, the place looked ultra trendy. The lighting was kept low, the walls had cool lights illuminating from it, and the furniture was all white. This is a type of place I would expect in bigger cities, not Edmond. My friend and I ordered four different rolls. Prices were higher than some of the other sushi places I have been to. Each roll had about 6-8 pieces and they ranged from $8-20. The Louisiana and Cajun crawfish rolls left a lasting impression on me. Both rolls contained crawfish that was seasoned perfectly. Service was great. We got our food quickly and we had the best waiter! The owner walked around to each table and made sure everything was up to par. If you want to impress out of town guests, this is where you should take them!

We've been meaning to go to Cafe Icon for awhile and tonight we decided the time had finally arrived. We were seated by the owner who took us through the menu and then left us to read through the menu and pick our poison. It was not an easy task...there are quite a few interesting rolls and we had to read through them all to make sure could narrow it down to just a few. The first thing you will notice on the menu are the great pictures of some really good looking rolls. The second thing you will notice is that the prices are a bit higher than some other sushi places in town...but the rolls are definitely bigger, so it all balances out. We tried the double crunch roll (Who knew coconut shrimp made such a tasty roll?), a spider roll (the best spider roll I've ever had in Oklahoma City), a Kaboom roll, a Sooner roll, and a California roll. ALL were delicious...we didn't think we could eat it all once we saw the amount of sushi, but it was too good to not enjoy every last bite. They have flavored waters and hubby tried the strawberry kiwi and really enjoyed it. We passed on the full bar since we're going out tomorrow night to celebrate our anniversary and didn't want to overindulge two nights in a row. Also the reason why we passed on what looked to be some awesome desserts! I am DEFINITELY trying a crepe next time...they looked yummy! :) The owner came by several times and thanked us for visiting...how often do you see that these days? Be sure to sign up for their loyalty program too...you will be back!!! If you're looking for something different on the sushi menu, this is the place to go! If you're not a big sushi fan and have friends and family who love it? This is the place to go...while you can order food from the kitchen, they offer quite a few rolls that are cooked...including one with chicken and bacon! Yeah, I'm taking my daughter here next time she's in town and she can have a roll and finally feel like she's eating sushi with us!

The sushi was good. I've had better but it is good here. They have a ton of choices too (I mean selection of rolls). They use all kinds of ingredients in their rolls, for example apples? I didn't try that one but I saw it on the menu. I guess I'm a "classic" sushi guy so I had a spider roll and a spicy/crunchy tuna roll. They were good. I also tried one of their special rolls, it was called a stop-n-go. Also good. The decor is ultra modern and it is sweet. I believe they did good with this and people will like it and want to return to hang out in that environment. Of course you can have the coolest interior in the world but if your food is no good no one will come. Just check it out it, you'll like it. Lots of stainless steel, white, nice lighting, etc. Beer. They did not have Kirin Ichiban. That's OK but I think this is the first sushi bar I've been to that didn't serve it. I ordered a beer that I had never tried or heard of before called Tiger. It is brewed in Singapore. Pretty good beer but I was more impressed that they had it than the flavor of the beer. Service. Off the charts good. The owner was there and highly visible, talkative, and friendly. The sushi chefs were in a great mood. My server was good. I went on a Monday night and it was pretty much dead so I suppose that's why the service was so good. Just wanted full disclosure on that to make everything relevant. This place is a little pricey but worth it.

Only place in OKC to get Sushi! Super creative chef, fresh fish and great conversation. Having lived out west and in Hawaii I am somewhat accustomed to having access to good Sushi and good fish. Both have been fairly hard to find in OKC. As for sushi, there is not better spot than Icon. Neko would be a close second tied with the sushi bar but both are too traditional and lack any innovation. Icon blends modern roles with a traditional offering as well. The head chef comes from Dallas and his passion for innovation show through in the menu. Flavors of fish and sauces are well balanced and the rolls are flat out beautiful. If you haven't been here or have given up on finding good sushi in Edmond/OKC give Cafe Icon a try. I don't hesitate to tell others this is the best place to get great sushi in Oklahoma.

Just left this place. Loved everything we ordered! The sushi was so fresh. Service was awesome. The server sat down and talked to us like a friend. The atmosphere is great, everything was really clean, the seats were super comfortable. I plan on making the 45 minute drive from new castle just to eat here. Loved it.

First time visiting...the staff were excellent very informative and super friendly! Inside is very cool.. modern with white glitter countertops and unique bar stools. The sushi was fresh and the presentation was really pretty. however, the sushi was soft/soggy. We tried the lotus, spicy baby, and mardi gras and each tasted almost the same. We also tried the crab cigars which were pretty good.

The owners of this restaurant previously owned Tropical Cafe (one of my favorite lunch spots in Edmond), but they moved and changed their name. I stopped in expecting it to be somewhat similar, however so much has changed. The new trendy atmosphere is nice, but as I expected their prices have significantly increased. Instead of trying to attract a lunch crowd it's more of an upscale dinner restaurant now. This was a bummer to me because I loved their reasonably priced sandwiches for a quick lunch. I ordered a few sushi rolls and it tasted as decent as any other sushi in Oklahoma. The one thing I will always love about this place is how friendly the owners are... Just be prepared to drop a fairly large amount of money for a neat ambiance and slightly above average sushi.

I went there with my boyfriend for lunch. It was our first time there, so we didn't know what to expect. The place is really pretty and trendy, but the tables are awkwardly high. The table stand does not let you scoot your chair all the way to the table, so you have to sit far away from the table. We came during some sort of happy hour where if you purchase 2 sushi rolls you get 1 for free. It seemed like a good deal, so we decided to get sushi for appetizers. The boyfriend ordered the chicken lunch special, and I ordered the bulgogi sandwich. The sushi took a while to come out (there was only 2 other tables), and the rolls weren't anything special. They tasted okay at best. The bulgogi sandwich didn't even taste or resemble actual Korean bulgogi. It was also really hard to eat by hand. I had to use silverware for my sandwich.... The chicken lunch special looked like a garbage bowl. It didn't look appetizing and was overly salty. Finally the bill came and I was pretty floored about the final bill...$60 for blah food. I realized it was going to be pricy, but I didn't expect to spend $60 for a mediocre lunch for two. Never again...

I know not all the reviewers will agree with 5 stars, but our experience did warrant this grade. We picked Cafe Icon from Yelp and it was worth the excursion off I-35. The menus explained the restaurant's history and commitment to fresh flavors and imaginative eating. Sushi menus can be intimidating, but the owner took pains to explain the dishes and make (good) suggestions. The care of the staff was very good, even though it was a busy lunch crowd. The chefs are not afraid to put heat into the dishes. We would all recommend a stop at Cafe Icon. We'll be back.

Edmond, say hello to your newest trendy expensive restaurant! So I decided to check out Cafe Icon the other day. I expected to go in and find a restaurant which tried to justify high prices with a bit of atmosphere and average yet very trendy sushi. Consider my expectations shattered and replaced with satisfaction. Yes, these are the same people who ran the Tropical Cafe further west down 2nd street in Edmond. It seems that they took the best parts of what they had before and merged them with an upscale appearance that was really quite enjoyable and a very solid sushi presentation. I tried the Lotus on Fire, a spicy little number with lotus root on top, and the Thunder Roll. Yes, I will try just about any dish that is named for the Thunder. I shamelessly admit to being easily manipulated by that marketing. Thankfully, those dishes are usually pretty good. This crab and salmon roll was pretty good, although I admit the Lotus stood out amongst sushi rolls I've had in Oklahoma. Of course, they have a full bar inside with decent if not wide selections. Try the Ozeki sake and treat yourself to a proper sake served cold. Alternately, take the opportunity to have a decent soju. Yes, Oklahoma now has more than the cheap Jinro export-quality bottles available. Soju is a Korean spirit, but rest assured that it works quite well with sushi. Cafe Icon does run on the more expensive end of sushi in Edmond, but they aren't charging for atmosphere alone. This was a great experience.
