Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This Alfredo's just opened in Edmond so I thought we would give it a try for lunch on Saturday. The inside was very nice and clean...new. We got seated immediately and the waiter was there promptly. We ordered 2 beers and they came in extremely cold goblets with salt & lime on the rim. We received the typical complimentary chips, salsa and queso. They were just standard nothing special. The complementary appetizers included a corn salsa, and believe me I love anything corn. I expected this corn to be spicy but it was so sweet that we took a couple of bites and set it aside. I even tried some on a corn tortilla and still too sweet. I love tamales so I ordered a combination plate with 1 beef enchilada & 1 beef tamale. I ordered steamed corn and spicy guacamole for my 2 sides. My GF ordered the chicken tortilla soup with a tostada. The food arrived quickly enough. The guacamole was runny, not spicy and very bland. I cut 2 bites off the tamale that were nothing but corn masa before I ever found any beef and the taste was one of the worst I have ever eaten. I left half of the tamale on the plate. The steamed corn was also very bland. Even after a generous dose of salt and pepper it was still bland. I know some of you will say that steamed corn is always bland but not so...try the steamed corn at Ted's. I asked my GF how the soup was and she said it was just OK. I make a pretty mean Chicken Tortilla Soup and probably have her spoiled. Bottom line...won't be back. My favorite Mexican restaurants are still Ables and Teds.

Decent tex-mex at a decent price. I went with a friend and we split a double order of fajitas. Between the chips, queso, sweet corn salsa (get it, it's really tasty), entrees, and sopapillas, we were quite full and took home 2 servings as well. The chino beans are fried pinto beans with a tomato relish. It totally works and is a nice alternative to the refried slop we're all used to. Our waiter was fantastic, and even brought me a water to-go. They have enough space to hold a few big families, and I'd recommend it to the after-church crowd.

Alfredo's is a Tex Mex restaurant that serves a lot of what you would expect a Mexican place to serve. It's right in the same price range as say Chelino's or Ted's. My wife and I went here last Friday for an early supper. The place wasn't very busy, so I'm not sure how they handle things when their busy. The service we received was excellent. I really liked the salsa and queso that was brought out to us when we got there. The queso was even with Ted's for the best complimentary queso I've had in Oklahoma City. The tortillas were really good. Hand made from scratch, they were soft and a little chewy, just like they should be. I got a steak quesadilla and my wife got a chicken chimichanga. We both really enjoyed our dishes. One thing I liked was that I could get refried black beans, which I haven't seen anywhere else. they were delicious!

Grteat food, great service. I am glad I found this one, it beats driving all the way there Norman location.

Everything was just okay. Nuff said. Considering we had Igauna's when we first came here, we compare everything to them. Just not as good.
(3)Jim D.
Because we got complimentary chips, salsa, and queso (I ate most of that, BTW) my wife and I split the grande burrito. We chose shredded chicken for the meat in the burrito and it came with beans and rice. We also got guacamole. For dessert we got sopapillas--my wife got traditional one with honey, I got glazed. We thought the food was very good. The flavor of the chicken was great. The beans and guacamole were good. Chips were good. Salsa was good. Queso, average, but edible. Bottom line, we will likely go back. Oh, and the service was good.

In town with my daughter and we decided to try out the local TexMex and used Yelp to choose a location. When out of Texas, and we attempt TexMex, we know we are not going to get what we consider TexMex so we don't go with standard enchiladas, fajitas, or tacos al carbon. Pros: They had some unusual items on their menu... china beans which I enjoyed and we got a giggle out of Mexican mashed potatoes, and daughter liked the offering of mexican corn as a side. I tried their fried tacos which reminded me of what we lovingly called Jack in the Box "Nasty Tacos" when I was in highschool. Daughter enjoyed her flautas. Service was very nice. Cons: Queso tasted like the canned Nacho Cheese you get in huge cans at Sam's Club to serve at little league games but they had sprinkled in some chile powder. Salsa had no heat. None, Zilch. Daughter, who doesn't like spice said it was milder than Taco Bell's mild sauce. Margarita was made with a mix, not fresh lime juice.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Edmond. Great service, quick seating, consistently good. Good prices, a nice alternative to Ted's without all the fuss. Not overpriced, staff seem much happier in their work environment than Ted's.
(4)Joshua D.
Good tex mex and very good service. There ground beef tacos had lots of flavor and I really enjoyed this place.
(4)Cara O.
I honestly didn't expect much when we stopped by here to check it out. I figured it was another Americanized, cookie cutter, corporate place. I was very pleasantly surprised. My chimichanga was actually really good. They also offered refried black beans, which I've never seen anywhere else. They were pretty tasty as well. The salsa was good, flavorful and not too spicy for me. The decor was cute and the place was very clean. The service was excellent. Next time I am in that area, I will not hesitate to eat there again.
(4)Shay B.
Extremely average Tex-Mex. I popped by while my car was getting oil changed/tires rotated at the neighboring Precision Auto Care, so I picked Alfredo's purely out of convenience. Despite the average food, service was very fast, which was just what I needed since I had an hour before the auto shop closed. I could've done without the huge bowl of chips + salsa + queso, since I was dining solo, but I guess they give that to everyone! Not sure if I'd go out of my way to stop by again. That is, unless my car is getting worked on and I'm hungry!
(3)Sadie K.
Alfredo's is a reliable standard when it comes to Texmex. You are getting the classic tex mex you except and it's always good. Service is fast and friendly. If you get to go, you'll get plenty of set up stuff. We've done catering with them and it was a very easy process and would recommend it to anyone trying to feed a large group. Who doesn't love Mexican food? Mexican potatoes are good and the lunch specials are generously portioned. Good margs too!
(5)Phil F.
It's an enjoyable TexMex experience. Chips and sauces are plentiful and the service is fast and accurate. Always seems busy but never busy enough that you have to wait more than a few minutes.
(5)David B.
I'll be back...to this place. I had the huevos rancheros, which I consider a standard for Mexican restaurants, and they easily passed the test - although it could have looked better on the plate. My sides of refried beans and guacamole were also excellent. My wife had the ground beef tacos with sides of rice and guacamole. The beef tasted fresh with "just the right amount of spices", even though she took the jalapeños off. The atmosphere was fairly casual and the restaurant was decorated appropriately. Finally, the service was good and the cost was reasonable. My only criticism is that they needed to refinish the edge of our table that was made of wood, but more importantly - it was clean.
(4)Mark R.
Gotta love food done right and this place rocked. Minimal wait time, excellent service, and quality food prepared perfectly. The sauces and chips were plentiful as well as the fresh tortillas and hot relish. While my enchiladas were exquisite the refried black beans were the bomb along with the spicy guacamole. Too bad my wife couldn't finish her fajitas, they were delicious and calling my name. And you gotta try the glazed soppipias--I was more traditional until last night and always did cinnamon and honey, but I became a believer--almost like a fresh hot Krispy Kreme donut:)
(5)Supreeth M.
Excellent service. Always get seating right away and I love the taste of the chicken in any dish.

My sister and her family and my husband and kids came to Alfredo's for a late lunch. Service was very nice. Chips and "complimentary" cheese sauce were tasty- nothing to write home about but decent. Ordered 4 entrees and 3 children's plates. Because 2 adults choose to split fajitas we were charged $5 for the chips and salsa. I hate arbitrary rules. Why discourage sharing when your portions are so large? Either make your portions appropriate or accept that people will share. Even with 2 sharing there were still leftover fajitas. There are too many places to choose from to put up with silly up charges for mediocre food. Last time for our party of 8.

Fast friendly service, but the food was not that great. Food was okay, slightly cold. Nice location inside. By comparison Chelinos and Ted's is better.
(3)M D.
Being from Texas, I am used to authentic Mexican food. This place has very average food. The service was excellent however. I may be a little critical on the quality, but anyone would appreciate the great service. My advice: give it a try, but don't expect authentic.
(3)Makai H.
Great food and service. They make the tortillas on site and the sopapillas are cloud like. Best alternative I've found for Mexican when I don't want to fight the crowd at Ted's!
(4)Nicole P.
Most delicious food I've had in awhile. The nachos were a meal in themselves. Great atmosphere.
(5)Mila D.
As Ted's is the standard for Tex-Mex fare around these parts, let's compare: Tortillas are vastly better here, but the rest of the complimentary set up is lacking. Queso is bland, salsa tastes like canned tomatoes with too much black pepper, and pickled veggies are poorly cut and have an off flavor and texture. They offer a corn relish as well, but it's canned corn and pimentos, nothing worth bothering with. The "special sauce" is great, but not as good as Ted's. Refills were very slow to come, even after flagging someone down. This is NEVER an issue at Ted's. The service overall here is fair to poor - at last visit we had a plate of burned nachos and 2 of 5 orders he incorrect items on the plate. No manager came over to apologize and having worked in the service industry, that was unacceptable. I like the option of glazed sopapillas, but ours were cold this visit. I'm sure the waiter let them sit in the window as he was annoyed with our table after the entree corrections. Our family will return, but if the next visit mirrors the last one, it will probably spell the end of our Sunday lunches here.
(2)Karen G.
Very good food, exceptional service the first time there. Good service the next time. The place is always hopping--wait time can be a bit, but it is a popular place and worth the wait. The hostesses seemed a little flustered last time we were in. It is the new fave for Mexican in Edmond.
(4)Bryan B.
After hearing for years how great this place was, i was a little let down. Fajitas need a little work and beans tasted like three day old beans that water had been added to. Salsa was ok, but their secret hot stuff had no taste outside the heat. May give it one more shot, but not anytime soon.
(2)Jade K.
From the salsa to my entree. Everything was flavorful and get best part CHEAP! I loved how they offered free fresh handmade tortillas. I ordered the chicken tamale and enchilada and honestly was probably the best chicken I've had. It was so moist yet had a kick. I would definitely return. Wish there was good Mexican food in vegas like this.
(5)Capt. S.
This place comes the closest I've found to decent Tex-Mex in Oklahoma City. Margarita's were tasty. Rice and Beans were the best I've had hands down in all of OKC. The chicken dish I had was tasty, cooked to perfection and had the one thing lacking in every other Mexican restaurant in the area. FLAVOR! They accomplished this by actually using spices in their food as opposed to relying on (what it seems every other Mexican place in the greater OKC area does), drown it in cheese, and expect the cheese to rescue the flavor of the dish. The only negative comment I would have to make, is that since they do not have a full bar, a top shelf margarita is out of the question. Still though, the ones they do serve are still better than many others sampled in the area. Good marks all around for Alfredo's.
