I'm just not a fan of Swadleys. It's not that their food is bad, there just isn't anything special about it. Their brisket can be pretty fatty every time I've had it. And their sausage a little tough. We cater this in about twice a month for my work, and get a pretty good selection of their items. As far as a business goes, they are very friendly and prompt, and their prices are not too high. But everything is just that. Average. Their sauces are pretty good, as well as their smoked turkey, but most of their sides are pretty bland. I usually get their mac and cheese and green beans, which you definitely need salt and pepper for. Overall I'd just call it an typical barbecue spot.

This is really the best BBQ in town. Their variety of sauces are all very good, and their food is great. Good service and priced right.

I didn't have the greatest experience at the Swadley's on the South side. Not that it was bad. It was average. After stating some of my concerns, I was pleasantly surprised when the fine folks at Swadley's reached out to me to give them another shot. So we gave them another shot. I have to say, I really enjoyed our more recent experience. We opted for one of those giant family feast thinga-ma-jiggers. The order that comes with a couple pounds of meat, some side items, BBQ sauce, bread, you know? I think Swadley's website states that it feeds 'round four, but it must be four people with exceptional appetites; four men, and one woman ate their fills, and there were still leftovers to be had (of the sides at least, not so much on the meat). For a little under $50, that's not a bad deal. Granted, we're all Indians, and I will admit that our relatively smaller frames limit how much BBQ we can consume in a sitting. The meats were pretty enjoyable; the brisket wasn't dried out, and the sausage was pretty good (although I can't remember much about it now). The sides were reasonably satisfying as well. Excellent customer service, combined with above average food (for the most part) leaves me satiated. Is there better BBQ in town? I'm sure. Does it take care of my BBQ cravings? Without a doubt.

When I get bbq I want to see smoke coming out of the roof of the building. When I walk in I want to be hit in the face with the smoke smell. When I leave and I'm a block from the restaurant I want to smell like smoke. When I smell my fingers the next three days I want my fingers to smell like smoke and meat and make my mouth water. Swadley's doesn't do any of that. It's not by anymeans bad food, but it's not great bbq. I had the two meat plate with sausage and pulled pork. My sides were mac & cheese and green beans. I'm pretty sure thesausage was boiled and wasnt smoked. It tasted identical to a Eckridge Farms kilbasa from the store. The pulled pork was very dry and had no smoke flavor except for a slight flavor on the bark. I tasted the brisket of the person dining with be and it was dry but meh. Sides were average but more of a canned quality. I saw the ribs and those looked promising so I might have to give them a try. This review sounds harsh but I'm constsntly looking for great bbq. I would for sure eat here again if someone wanted to come. It was disappointing the ice cream machine was down, but to be honest, I don't need the calories. In summary, if you're looking for a bbq or family place that will satisfy picky esters in a family (except vegetarians) this place is bland enough to make the cut. I'll probably be back.

I love BBQ, so Swadley's is one of my favorite places to hit up! They have great selections and different portion sizes so its a great place for the whole family! Since I usually don't eat a ton, I just get the kids meal and its perfect for me! I've had a little trouble with their service in the past, I feel like the waitresses could be better. But I've had ones that are good too! Since the food is so good, the service isn't a deal breaker. Its a great place to go Sunday after church! My favorite part? The free ice cream!

Had the super family feast, it was more than enough for the family. Very good selection of meats and the camp fire potatoes were fantastic. I will add my cautionary statement to this review. If your the "Epicurian Chuckster" stay away this is good blue collar eats for the average joe, look for the bird seed factory with the square plates and rag weed garnish some place else. And don't forget to demand your birdseed has that squiggly line of mystery sauce or else you will write a long boring dissertation of what was wrong.

best BBQ in okc area. nuff said.

And OKC scores a hit! Happy to say that the locals that swore up and down this place was worth stopping at were absolutely right! We Texans are mighty proud of our bbq and I can say Swadleys is one of the best bbq joints I've ever been to! My coworkers and I are even planning to stop by one more time before heading back to Houston!

I am shocked I have not written a review here because this is absolutely my fave bbq in the metro. I am quite ashamed of myself for not having done this yet. There is NOTHING I do not like here. I love all the meats, the sides, the four different kinds of bbq sauce, the desserts and the service. One thing I really like is that they are consistent. No matter when I come or what time of day, I know exactly how my food is going to taste. There is a lot to be said for that. The owner is very kind as are the managers and wait staff. Even the busboys are helpful. I love the cute, quaint atmosphere. I just love it all! I can't say that enough!

I've had BBQ all across the nation, and there isn't one single restaurant that I've been to that compares to Swadley's. They've always been a friendly bunch here. I used to come by after school and grab a sandwich or some ribs. As for their food, I usually either get the City Boy sandwich with chopped brisket and sweet cream corn (also the BEST.) or I get the ribs dinner. The rub that they put on their ribs is the best. Everything else is good too, but their rib rub is really, really, really good. I haven't found anything like it anywhere else. Now, I'm beyond biased because I was practically raised on Oklahoma BBQ, but still. It is excellent, real-smoked meat. Theirs sweet sauce is amazing. I'm too wimpy to try the others, but I'm sure it's just as good! Also, there's free ice cream. Free. Ice. Cream.

We have ordered the large sandwich with all the meats and every side they offer twice this week because we are pigs apparently. We drive by this place because it is very close to my wifes moms house. After deciding to poke in were very very pleased with the food.

I really liked this little joint. It was mentioned in some magazine article as best in Oklahoma, and while that isn't the case in my opinion, it's a solid effort and a very homey atmosphere. The service is terrific and I suggest bringing a buck or two to tip the servers even if this isn't your traditional sit down restaurant. I had their ultimate bbq sandwich which managed to be both filling, delicious, and supply a variety of flavors without mushing together. Make sure you get the campfire taters on the side.

Pretty good BBQ! We live really close to this Swadley's so we frequent here quite often. I always get the same thing, the 2 meat combo (smoked turkey and pulled pork) with sweet baked beans and sweet cream corn..I'm definitely from the south! It's a lot of food, I either share it or take half of it to go, so you definitely get a bang for your buck. A few things that makes this place different than other BBQ establishments; 1.) On Monday nights kids eat free when you dine in. 2.) Free vanilla ice cream too! The service is hit or miss...sometimes we go and we have a really great server and other times, not so much.
(4)Jennifer B.
Love this place! They really accommodate my life . I'm blessed that they care about me when I come in to eat. You make my diabetes tolerable. Thank you for your accommodation even more. You Really truly blessed me today!
(5)Joe W.
They have awesome BBQ here; definitely the best I've had in OKC and the prices are very reasonable for the big portion sizes. The staff is also very friendly and they serve you free ice cream or cobbler for dessert!

I've been to Oklahoma City many many times and never had real good barbecue. While sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for my buddies to come down to go for dinner. A guest staying at the hotel recommended this place. Boy, I'm glad he did! We were pleasantly greeted by the cashier who took our orders cheerfully. We ordered a little bit of everything. We got the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and side orders of crispy okra, sweet beans and mashed potatoes. After placing our orders we received a number and sat down at a table. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly host, I think her name was "Paige"and she was training a new hire that day named "Koa", they got our drinks and brought us our cutlery. The food came out very quickly. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and juicy. Now I'm no professional barbecue judge, so I really don't know squat about "bark"or "smoke rings" on a rib, but they were delicious!! I don't like my ribs too wet, so having the BBQ sauce on the side was perfect. The ribs were dancing in my mouth! The sides were great, but I wasn't a big fan of the crispy okra, but they have a lengthy list of side's to choose from so you're bound to find the right one for your palette. It's refreshing to have the manager come to our table and greet us. He wanted to make sure we were enjoying the food and service. The servers were very attentive and checked up on us ever so often. When we were done eating the staff were quick to clean up our table. If you're ever in the Oklahoma City area and craving for some good old fashioned barbecue. Give Swadley's a try, you can thank me later!

Way too Proud! Two Meat Plate already $13.99....you really need $2 more if one of them is Ribs? Brisket portion niggardly. Okra greasy...Spicy Beans tasty. Servers annoyingly looming. Side of catfish arrived as three shriveled 'S's ......$9 ?!?!!?? No limes for tea. Don't take me there again, friend.

For value, Swadley's is pretty great. It's where I'd go when I don't want to travel far or pay much. Though, if I had a hankerin' for really, really good BBQ, I'd take a longer drive elsewhere. For $9.99, you can get a sandwich with your one meat of choice, 2 sides, and a drink (the Country Boy). That's pretty decent if you ask me. Which, in a way, you are because you're reading this, therefor pondering my opinion of the place. Pulled pork (sandwich) 3/5: Not great, not bad. It wasn't dry, but it wasn't very flavorful either. I guess that's what barbecue sauce is good for, but shouldn't need it, ya know. Potato salad 4/5: This was actually pretty good. Good taste, consistency, and texture. If you don't like egg in your potato salad, though, it's not for you. Campfire tators ?/?: I wouldn't know! They forgot to give me these. Sad day.

There is a woman who makes asphalt out of pig poo which must taste better than Swadley's--I know it can't taste worse.

I went there yesterday for the fist time in a while . Nothing has changed , still the best barbeque in this part of the country. If that's not enough then go for the service . Yoshi and Mida always have a smile and welcome you in the door. I didn't see the owners there yesterday but it is common to see them checking in on tables to make sure its all that you expect it to be because that's what they expect from themselves. To eat BBQ anywhere else is a waste of good money.
(5)P G.
Great brisket and hotlink. The spicy sauce is one of the best I have tasted. I read up on yelp that the campfire tater is good, they are wrong it's great! It's a must try if you want good bbq out here in OK!
(5)P J.
I was in OKC on business for 12 days. I tried all the local BBQ places and found them all poor to fair. Swadley's was by far the best. you get a great choice of meat, sides and BBQ sauce. You can go to the drive thru, the" walk up order to go" door, or into the restaurant. If you're used to typical chain restaurant style BBQ, that is, overcooked, steamed, mushy and covered in liquid smoke you might not love it here. They have family meal deals, dinner/lunch plates, sandwiches, hamburgers and kids plates. The prices are good. You can find a full menu with prices on their website. I recommend the Ultimate BBQ sandwich with the campfire taters.

I have eaten here twice. The first time I got the sliced brisket sandwich and the second the sampler. For BBQ it was priced well for the quantity. Taste was great and I have a hard time not turning in their parking lot when I pass by!! I will definitely be returning as much as I can!!!
(5)Joshua H.
Anothe great BBQ establishment in the OKC metro area, Swadley's has a couple chains in the area however the one I frequently visit is off Rockwell ave, the cool part about Swadley's is you got 4 choices of BBQ sauce to choose from, they have a drive thru to order from, and if you go inside they also have a soft serve ice cream machine that you can use to get yourself a ice cream cone! Prices are reasonable ($8-12 range) and the decor is pretty cool inside, gots that country look to it with various Western decorations everywhere Definently worth a BBQ visit!
(5)Kalina H.
Went here for the first time and ordered the firehouse sandwich combo. The food was delicious and the waitstaff was very friendly. I will definitely bring my family here again.

This well known bbq place is very mediocre. My bf and I both got the meat sampler. (somewhere around $15) The ribs were dry, chewy and just gross. The service was just ok...very young staff. The girl was nice and brought us a sample of all of their sauces...The grumpy sauce was pretty good. The things I hated were...u stand in line like u are at chipotle..but then u have a server that gets ur drinks..clears ur table, etc and ur expected to tip them since they make $2 an hour. Well...I just paid with my credit card 25 minutes ago and have no cash....so now I need to go thru the cattle shute line again just to leave a tip? HOW ABOUT someone explain to me how that works BEFORE I pay. The only thing ok was the sides...the meats were gross. I had a better experience at bad brad's bbq in Yukon and that place only got 3 stars in my book. The free soft serve vanilla ice cream is pretty cool, but not worth a return visit.

Excellent BBQ every time I go. Today I got the chicken fried steak and was impressed. It was flaky and tender. Didn't expect that. I've had the same result on cfs. It all tastes the same no matter where I go. It was great. Campfire taters are my favorite side item and their beans are excellent. Swadley's is the bees knees. Also, they have a drive thru.
(4)Patti C.
We ordered the large meal that served 8 people. It was wonderful. The various meats were really good and a very good selection on the sides. The people that work there are very helpful and accommodating. A friend at work had told me about them and she was right! We will continue our business there for sure! People are quick to complain when they don't like a restaurant-we need to let people know when they do a great job-and they did.
(5)Sharon M.
I love this place! There's 2 ways to love it too. Either swing through the drive through on your way home or dine in. I usually grab this on my way home since it's so close. While I am no expert on BBQ, I know good food. I love that for less that $20 I can grab 2 sandwiches and 2 pint sized sides and have dinner for me and my son! I really like their brisket and their ribs. They are delicious. I also love their sides! mmmm mmmmm good! My favorite is their sweet cream corn! It is so yummy. I haven't had anything I don't like. Plus they have like 7 different kinds of sauce and 3 different cobblers. We like Swadleys!
(5)Annette G.
I'm not particularly a huge fan of BBQ, but Swadley's is pretty good. Nice selection of meats and sides. The ordering process is tedious though. The portions are large, which is good, because the prices seem high too.
(3)K P.
We do eat at Swadley's quite a bit, especially on Monday's because it's kids eat free night! I would have to say their chopped brisket is pretty fatty, but I love their chicken dinner. It's roasted, not fried and it comes with 2 sides for $8.99. I usually substitute my two sides for a trip to the salad bar and it's perfect!
(4)Kaitlin B.
What a great place! Free icecream is the highlight for my son. The amazing customer service is what I appreciate the most. My two year old wasn't the most pleasant of customers and yet the staff were soo friendly and kind. We had the brisket and chicken and it was awesome. I highly recommend this place.
(5)Linda M.
This is my favorite place to go for BBQ. Delicious food and friends service with a fun atmosphere.
(4)Carly N.
Don't know why it took me so long to try Swadley's! Their food was great! I got the chicken dinner which comes with 2 sides plus a piece of toast and only cost about $8. They have several types BBQ sauces to choose from. It's a bit confusing for first timers but you're suppose to order at the counter, pick a seat, and then the waitress brings you the food. I watched several confused people walk in and try to figure out how this place is ran. The restaurant needs to post some signs because it's not immediately obvious if you order at the counter or if there's a waitstaff. The restaurant was clean for the most part. All the waitresses looked like they were still in high school so they had a very young staff.
(4)Joyce C.
I don't know if it was an off day for them, or if I'm just a picky eater, but this was nothing worthy of all the great reviews I read. Service was fine and prompt. Like a previous poster, it is confusing that you wait in line to order, then sit down and have a waiter who you tip. We didn't realize we had a waiter, so of course we paid with our credit card and then had to go back in line to get change for tip. Kind of annoying and inconvenient t for anyone who doesn't have cash. On to the food...maybe I'm a fool for ordering Chicken fried steak at a bbq place, but I'm a sucker for the stuff. Well, I was a fool. The breading wasn't seasoned, the meat was dry. The okra had the same problem with the breading. The mashed potatoes were okay, but the toast was pretty disgusting. It's thick white bread barely toasted and buttered on one side and had a weird burnt aftertaste. My lunch companion enjoyed his a little more. He had the meat sampler. But, he complained of the ribs, brisket, and chicken being dry. All were really tender, just had to be dunked in bbq sauce. He didn't like the toast or mashed potatoes that much either, and barely touched those. He chose mac and cheese as his second side and we decided the mac was overcooked and soggy. Free soft serve next to the exit, but we weren't impressed by that either. The cones were stale, because they sit in a little container being exposed to air, unlike some machines that dispense the cones one at a time. Also thought the ice cream itself was a little watery, not as thick as I would have preferred. Overall, there was much left to be desired. It all seamed to be lacking in the taste department, just all missing some seasoning, salt, pepper...anything.
