Lai Thai has been so reliable. We've been coming here for more than 15 years. It used to be convenient to my work location. Five years ago I moved to a different office location and it wasn't as easy to get to. I must admit I kind of lost contact for awhile. More recently we've moved, so that home is within an easy drive once more. It is still here and still good! I'm SO happy to know it!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant hands down. Love the food. The mint basil fried rice is off the charts.

The absolute authority on Fried Rice!!!! As of this evening we have tried all of the variations and have yet to be disappointed! My personal fav is the Thai combination with medium spice. Excellent portion to price ratio as well. A++++

With the plethora of Thai restaurants in Oklahoma City, I have a problem when service is slow, the food is greasy, and it simply isn't good. As Rachel S. mentioned in her review, there seems to only be one woman serving food and taking orders. This causes service to be slow even when they aren't busy; there were only three tables to serve when I went and we all arrived at different times. Prices are lower on some items than other Thai restaurants, and they do have lunch specials. The lunch special changes every day and comes with a bowl of soup along with your meal. I had the egg drop soup, which had decent flavor but was too oily for me. The ginger chicken came with large uncooked pieces of ginger, and while I'm glad the ginger chicken truly has ginger, it really needed to be minced or grated. Large pieces of raw ginger are just inedible. The meal was also watery, either because the sauce was watery or the noodles hadn't been drained enough. Either way, it just didn't work. My main concern at the restaurant was that they still use a cart to collect dirty plates and glasses, and they bring the cart right by all the other diners so you get to see just how dirty the cart is the remains of the food from other diners. I know the cart makes cleanup easier, but it is not appetizing or sanitary. This definitely needs to change before I'll be back. I can only imagine what the Food Network restaurant savior host would say about something like that.

Thought this place wasnt going to be good based on the looks. Well, you cant judge a book by its cover! I got the Pad Thai and it was perfect! Right amount of sauciness and enough to share with 1-3 people. I got it mild and it was so good. Probably the best pad thai I have ever eaten. I strongly recommend coming here. The only con is that there is only one waiter here (that I see). They have only come to my table once out of the whole time. Other than that, I would definitely come here again!

Lai Thai is an average Thai restaurant. The prices are very fair. I enjoyed the lunch special, which includes soup, a fried egg roll, and the dish of the day which was a sweet red curry. I enjoyed the soup, offering a Thai chicken broth based soup which was a refreshing change from hot and sour or egg drop (which they offer as well). Each day of the week the lunch features are rotated. So, if your only in the area one day a week you may get bored with the special. But hey, all of this food is about $5. I'll be back. Sometimes, predictability is nice.

*Seems that there's only one woman to serve. Not incredibly busy, at all. Maybe two tables of two here. *Didn't take our drink order until when she finally came around to take our food order. * Was out of the daily dish (yellow curry on Friday), but didn't mention it until I ordered it. * My glass for water was dirty. * They ran out of fried rice? * The white rice tastes like some you make in those minute bags. * The Hawaiian chicken (I went generic since the yellow curry was out) is good, but on par with more 'fast food' Chinese. * The egg drop soup is good. * The Jasmine tea is good. I am not difficult to please at all. More often than not, if something isn't quite right, I don't say a word. If I do, it's very polite. I'm sure if it had been different people other than my boyfriend and I, it would have been a very different scene.

If I was informed that I could choose a manner of death, I would opt to die in my sleep. If I was told that I couldn't drift off in a quiet unassuming manner, my next choice would be to die choking on Thai food. That way, I would leave this rock with the knowledge that something delicious killed me. Thai restaurants are fairly common in Oklahoma City, and everyone has a personal favorite (Sala Thai, Moon Thai, Thai House, Panang Thai, etc). My favorite (of the moment) would be Lai Thai. To be fair, I haven't tried the other popular Thai places in this city (other than Thai House, or Lemongrass) so I wouldn't be surprised if there is something much better than Lai Thai, but for now it reigns supreme in my stomach. The fried rice dishes on the menu have kind of been my safe choices in recent visits. Add an order of spring rolls (even if you eat nothing else, at least get this) and a Thai iced tea and I'm very satisfied. The fried rice + spring rolls + Thai iced tea will probably set you back ~$9.00. Pad Plik, and Mint Fried Rice are delicious, and Pad Thai is also pretty good although not "OMG" worthy. Portion sizes seem to vary depending on who is in the back, which can be somewhat annoying. There are other dishes that are very delicious, but the names escape me, and this restaurant isn't of the website using variety. Their hours of operation are awkward, so it is highly recommended that you call ahead to make sure that they are actually open. There is also some arbitrary number that has been established as the limit to use a credit card ($20-25), which frequently leads to me picking up the tab when I go with friends. Service is unpredictable (I've had anywhere from 2 to 5 star experiences). It's a family run establishment, but certain employees are nicer than others. Also, their demeanor changes significantly (for the better) when I'm with certain friends who know the owners really well. Word of warning: avoid the Thai iced coffee. A bitter and hyper-sweet taste combination that made me feel like the enamel from my teeth was being stripped as I was drinking it.

I generally like thai places that are in strip malls and are not that fancy. Lai Thai is that. Friendly and fast service. A little too much oil though, a little greasy. Would go back, but not going to rush over.
