My in-laws live in the Tulsa area, so we are frequently driving through Atoka, usually (reluctantly) stopping for fast food along the way. Last night we decided to stop here instead, and it was sooo worth it. We had one of these in the town where I live for a while, but it shut down before I got the chance to try it so I wasn't expecting much. The salsa looked tomato heavy (mild, sweet) but it was actually quite good. The white queso was delicious, with just enough heat. And the entree I ordered - Chimichanga Cancun - was one of the best things I've ordered at a Mexican restaurant in recent memory. We will definitely stop here again.

The food was out quickly but tasted like it was microwaved and it was very bland. Crispy tacos had to be sent back multiple times and were replaced with tacos that had cold beef inside. My son was sick the rest of the evening.

Salsa is amazing. Enchiladas Rancheras was out'a this world good! Service was prompt and exceptional! Highly recommend this place.

Anything enchilada related here makes me want to shoot myself in the face. That being said, their Molcadete is life affirming except the shrimp which tastes funky. The burrito mexicano is definitely top of the line here. The salsa is good but their drink glasses look like they're made for Andre the Giant.

I had the lunch taco salad with chicken. The shredded chicken was tender and overall the salad was awesome. My husband had the beef tamale with the perfect blend of spices. Very flavorful. Not too spicy. Inexpensive but really good food. Great place to stop if your taking a road trip up 75 through Akota Oklahoma!

The parking lot was full and the Yelp rating is 4 stars, so we thought this place would be a safe bet for lunch. Boy were we wrong. First off, it was so hot inside that I almost left before we ever got our food. I was sweating throughout our visit. Our visit was quite a bit longer than I'd like, because it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered a fajita taco salad. I think it sat under a heat lamp before it came to the table. The pico de gallo was off-color, and the lettuce and sour cream were warm. The shell was far from crispy and sat in a pool of liquid on the plate. The meat looked gray instead of having a nice dark sear. It was thoroughly unappetizing. My husband ordered shrimp al mojo de ajo. The shrimp was very small (60 count maybe). It looked like it had been boiled, not grilled. It sat in a pool of butter and garlic powder on the plate...again, thoroughly unappetizing. We will NOT be stopping here again.

Shrimp was large and well marinated on shrimp nachos with white cheese. Chips and salsa were average. Husband enjoyed his chimichanga with combo of chicken, beef and shrimp topped with melted white cheese and side of guacamole and sour cream. Flour tortillas tasted store bought. Sweet tea was fresh and wait staff was attentive. Discourage your kids from ordering chicken strips and fries which were frozen dino bites.

Pretty decent enchiladas and we gorged ourselves on chips and salsa. Amazing homemade chips! Pretty good mexican food for small-town Oklahoma.

Not the best Mexican, but definitely not the worst in Oklahoma by a long shot. The chips were warm, white queso (unlike the normal yellow melted Velteeta with salsa you get most places in Oklahoma). The tamales were okay, the burrito was filling although not quite spicy enough for my taste. The prices were good. We'll return.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
