Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

#1 Mexican restaurant in Altus. I'm giving this five stars based on Altus; it would probably be 3-4 stars in a lot of other places like Oklahoma City or Fort Worth or San Antonio or Vancouver Washington or Anchorage Alaska (yeah, Alaska).

Use the Green Sauce!!! I've been here twice in a week now, because the place is low key, cheap and delicious! The Mexican food is authentic and non-pretentious. It's just good food and great prices!! It's located right on the town square of Altus, OK, so it's a quaint location (relatively). I've had the soft-taco plate and the Chimichanga plate, both only $6.50 for lunch, and only a dollar more at dinner. See my first line; Use the Green Sauce! It's just in a white squeeze bottle, but it adds some spice and flavor to the dishes. Use it.

Great service. I had the fajitas combo meal. Very good and plenty of food. The facility appears to be clean and neat. No beer available which is one reason I gave it only four stars.

My favorite restaurant in Altus.period. They don't even bother giving me a menu anymore. I love taco lengua and the flautas are always on point!

I thought this place was pretty good. My husband loved it and it reminded him of being in del rio tx. He probably got the better dish which was the tacos, homemade too it seemed. I got the enchiladas and ive had better.

This is such a good place for authentic Mexican food! It's the best in Altus and some of the best I have had.

This is one of those places that I forget about sometimes because I don't spend a lot of time in downtown Altus. My husband and I have been here four times now and the food has been excellent every time. It's a small place and it tends to be busier during the lunch hours than for dinner, presumably due to all the folks who work in the downtown area. The wait staff is always friendly and they work really quickly when it's busy, so no one has to wait for a table for very long. We stopped here for lunch recently and we both had a chicken burrito deluxe with beans and rice, Mexican Coke, chips and salsa. Our waitress was very friendly and I was impressed with how quickly our food was brought to our table. Everything was delicious and the bill was reasonable, less than $20 including tip. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Altus.

Pretty good authentic Mexican restaurant! You don't see too many places that sell barbacoa and theirs is delicious! The fajitas were good, but I've had better. They need to give more than 3 tortillas when you order fajitas. This is definitely a place I will come back to.

Definitely my favorite Mexican place in Altus. I've been stationed here for several years and has always been my go to. I love it!

This is amazing food! We have tried multiple dishes and have enjoyed everything. Their rice and beans are perfect every time! Their chorizo is also very good. The waitress id always friendly. If you want something different she will suggest options. This is a nice place to get lunch. But I hear it is packed at that time. Dinner is a nice calm time if you like that. Overall this is a great place.

bomb tacos! i miss good ole street taco and this place is the best in town for them and not too pricey either

All the other Mexican restaurants are at best 3s. This place is a solid 5, and not even an "Altus" 5. This place would be great in a big city. I grew up eating authentic Mexican on the south side of Chicago and this is the closest I have gotten anywhere I have been since. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Actually one of he better Mexican restaurants here in town. Chicken asada was very good. Nice location and a good place to go for Altus students. Give it a try.

This food is awesome!!! It is the closest you can get to South Texas Mexican food outside of Texas. I've even eaten in Juarez Mexico and the Taqueria Hernandez Restaurant tastes 100 times better. I recommend it to everyone because the food is great and the hospitality is beyond compare. And you might even see me because I'll definitely be going back again for the tacos, the menudo and the orchata.
