I had a mushroom and swiss burger with onion rings and was impressed with the whole meal. They bread thier own onion rings. If you like burgers, and are looking for something greasy I recommend trying one from here!!

The restaurant was clean and the food was very good. The fried bacon and calf fries were good. The burgers my family had were not small and had more meat than bun and not just lettuce and tomatoes. Good size portions and the staff was very friendly. The next time we're in Altus we will eat there. The price was Some what expensive but you get what you pay for. The only bad thing I seen that I was annoyed by was the air dogs and loud fat people that was talking just to be heard.

Ok, I went back because most gave 4 stars and one recently gave a 5 star on top of several earlier 5 stars from others. All that the recent 5 star review states was the Bacon was good. I agree Bacon is good. So does most of America. One reason from the BT website top 10 reason bacon is good for you bacontoday.com/top-10-re… Effective Mood Elevator: Bacon makes you feel happy, satisfied, blissful, which greatly reduces stress in our lives and effectively relieves the negative effects of frustration, self-deprivation and sense of lack in one's existence. YES! That's me after I eat well prepared Bacon. Happy Happy Joy Joy! In any case those 4-5 star reviews did prompt me to think I may have been a bit hasty on my first review and I am a huge bacon fan so I went back for the Bacon Cheese Burger (BCB....) Well, sorry folks I just cant agree, it's not even close to being 5 star as good as it gets. No disrespect to anyone....It was just ok and the best part....Yes the bacon! It was crunchy and they put a lot on the BCB. The rest of the Burger, not the best I have ever had but ok. The onion rings were subpar. The difference between a great onion ring and a decent onion ring is??? Test question. Can anyone tell me why its best to let onion rings sit overnight in the fridge after you cut them to make onion rings? Jeopardy music........ They have to dry out a little or they have too much moisture in them. If you cook right after you cut this will cause the breading to fall off from the steam it creates during cooking. You have to let them dehydrate a bit so the breading will stick and not slough off allowing grease in. The cook should know this, at least for my onion rings they did not. All the breading was falling off, not soggy but falling off nun the less. Amateur at best NOT 5 star, not even 4 star. Oh and there were only 4 rings, large rings, but only four. That's not 4-5 star either folks. The staff was nonchalant about everything as one stated in an earlier review, hit and miss. They were not 5 star as good as it gets. We waited over 5 minutes to get a menu and drink order. The food came out in ok time and was overall ok. 5 star as good as it gets??? In no way possible. 3 A-Ok? Absolutely. I can even see Amy C's very well written 4 kicking in if they have a good night but please Altus, 5 star as good as it gets? no, hu u. That being said we will be back to try the rest of the menu and will update if it gets better.

This place is about as good as it gets for Altus. In any other town, this is a 3 star diner. Here, it is the cream of the crop. I recommend the farmers burger.

I haven't had a bad meal from Fat Daddy's yet. Bacon cheeseburger is one of the best I've ever had. The chicken strips are gigantic and hand breaded, and i always have a large serving of fresh cut french fries. The best thing about their food- it's not frozen! Very reasonably priced, too.

This place has potential, granted I only visit Altus since my boyfriend is stationed there, I've been to fat daddy's 3 times. The last time I watched a guy walk out (he paid of course) after just one bite of his burger, I don't think it's that awful. But the meat has no flavor we take ours to go and "doctor" them up at home. A bit of mrs. dash seasoning does wonders or even Worcestershire sauce.

After our most recent experience, I have to update my review. My husband and I had some of the WORST service I have ever encountered in a restaurant, probably ever. My standards for service at this place were already pretty low (see my previous review) but this time it was shockingly bad. When we walked in for dinner one night last week, all 3 servers were eating and chatting at the round table near the register. That's right, ALL of the servers were apparently taking a break and eating a meal at the same time, in the customer dining area. They appeared to be having a great time, talking and laughing. We assumed they were customers at first, but we later realized that they were all Fat Daddy's employees. One male, two female, all 3 were wearing Fat Daddy's t-shirts. Not one of them even looked up when we walked in, the guy just told us to sit wherever we want. There were several other tables full of customers at the time, and we were confused. Who was working here? We waited for several minutes and finally the guy who told us to sit wherever we wanted got up from his table, brought us some menus and took our drink order. He seemed annoyed that we had interrupted his meal. We waited a while for him to come back and take our order, but it was obvious that he was not at all interested in helping customers. We literally had to wave our arms over our heads and say "hello?" to get his attention. He was deep in conversation with the other servers, and they were all still eating. When he finally noticed us, he gave a heavy sigh, rolled his eyes, and told the other servers he'd be right back. They laughed at him and kept eating. I guess it's funny that he was being required to do his job? As he walked over to our table, another customer caught his attention and asked if he could have a refill on his drink. The server gave another heavy sigh and told the customer he needed to take our order first, and the customer angrily said he'd been waiting a long time already. The server then sighed again and pointed to the soda fountain area and said "go help yourself". So, apparently Fat Daddy's is a self-serve restaurant now. Meanwhile, all the servers finished their meals and went into the kitchen. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and seriously considered running across the street to Church's Chicken at one point. None of the servers acknowledged us at all during this time. The phone rang a couple of times and no one answered it. We could all hear the servers in the kitchen, talking and laughing. Two sets of customers came in and left after several minutes of not being acknowledged by anyone. One customer who had finished eating stood at the register for several minutes so he could pay for his food, and ended up just leaving some cash on the counter. Finally, one of the female servers came out of the kitchen and brought us completely the wrong order. We told her it was the wrong order and that we were just going to leave now and she said there was more food ready to come out of the kitchen. Then she went to every table and asked them if the food she had was their order. I think it belonged to some customers who gave up and left. Then she went back in the kitchen and brought us part of our order. We told her we were missing some of my husband's food and both of our dinner salads (which should have been brought out long before the rest of our food) and we both needed drink refills. She left without another word. Several minutes later, the male server brought out the rest of our food and some drink refills, but didn't say a single word. No apologies or explanations for the long wait, nothing. My husband asked for some steak sauce and the server slammed it down on the table when he brought it back. Some of our food was cold, but by that point I didn't have much of an appetite anyway. My smothered chicken was way too salty and my husband's dinner was overcooked. We saw one of the servers come out of the kitchen and stand by the register, so we figured that was our opportunity to pay our check and leave. She couldn't find our check, didn't know what we had ordered, and didn't know why there was cash on the counter. I guess if we had been less honest people we could have told her that was our cash, or that we ordered something less expensive that what we actually ordered. But we wanted to make sure we paid for our food, because it was the right thing to do. We did not leave a tip, which we have NEVER done before. I know servers are sometimes entitled to meal breaks, but they are usually done in the kitchen or away from the customers, and not at the same time as ALL the other servers when there are customers waiting! These three servers acted like they were being forced to wait on customers and like they had better things to do than the job that I assume they were being paid to do. Who is in charge of this place? Is this kind of work ethic acceptable to them? After this experience, we will never go back.

This place was greasy, and not tasty. For so much breading everything tasted just FRIED. We are new to the area and thought everything looked good...when we tasted it we decided we will never go back. Disappointing. It also cost my husband and I $40 for lunch:( we bought chicken fried bacon as an ap, turkey and cheese sandwich, a drink, a float, and the cowboy/rodeo burger.

We went for lunch and it was sooo good. We had the farmhouse burger and the mushroom and swiss burger, they were both delicious! The service was really great, too. This has been the best food/service we've had in Altus.
(5)Keith L.
A tasty bacon cheese burger with buttered, toasted bun was delivered within about 10 minutes after I placed my order. Handcut fries were excellent and plentiful. Huge glass of sweet tea washed it down. They offer a selection of homemade desserts including my personal all-time favorite, Italian Cream Cake. The slices are large and mine was very flavorful (though not quite as good as my wife makes)...my only criticism was the cake was dry. Service was prompt and friendly with multiple stops to check on me and offer a to-go drink. I'll happily stop here when next I'm in Altus and try something different from their large menu.

This is old school Mama's cookin!!!! Comfort Food at its finest!!! They ladies, and guys, who work here are amazing!!!! They always greet you with a smile. They know your drink you like!!! They know we ALWAYS get fried pickles!!! Haha. We walk in and they say to the kitchen "we need an order of pickles!" Brilliant!!!
(5)Frank N.
Friendly place!! This feels like a small town cafe where everyone knows each other... I was 'overlooked' for maybe 3 minutes? Not even noticeable by me, but they apologized profusely and brought me a slice of blueberry cake! Haha. OK! Yes please! My Patty Melt was delicious. It was perfectly grilled pumpernickel, with cheese and (added) Jalapeños inside. Fries were good, and they even gave me a takeaway cup of my drink when I left.... I'll be back for the food AND the service!!
(4)DeWayne G.
The food is pretty good here. I had the Bacon Cheese burger. I had the Onion Rings, they were good and big, the batter had a little spice in it, they were tasty. The staff is friendly and fast. If you are ever in Altus and want a good burger, check this place out.
(5)Jason B.
Food was just OK, however the portion sizes are huge. I was going to rate 3 stars , but added one more star because of the portion sizes. I felt like the fried items were a bit overdone. The burger was great with very creative combinations of ingredients on top. The wait staff was friendly and courteous.

Previous reviews were correct. The food here is wonderful. I was craving a good bacon cheeseburger after the terrible one from "The Plaza". I decided to get some food to-go yesterday (April 23) because it was my birthday. I have wanted to try the food since we moved here and I am only sad we didn't eat here sooner! This may seem like a tiny thing but the bacon was good quality. It had a nice flavor and really made a difference. I'm excited to go back and try a loaded baked potato and steak. Please, please have a good steak! Update to follow...

Amazing food and the selection was so great we had a hard time choosing! Chicken fried bacon is a must try appetizer! Need to go back to try everything that sounds so yummy! Awesome homemade desserts too!

Good, traditional burger. I got the bacon cheese burger with fresh cut fries. Old fasioned, hand pattied burger was juicy with great flavor. Fresh cut fries were well seasoned, but as often is with fresh cut fries, they were a bit soggy for my liking. If the fries would have been crisp, I would have given a rating of 5 stars.
(4)Felicia N.
Depends what you get. I got the chicken fried sandwich and the fried crispy part fell right off and left me with nothing but the chicken and my sandwich fell apart. Another try was the chicken strips which were very tasty & the onion rings are very good.
(3)Skittles N.
Pretty good food overall. Hamburgers are massive and tasty. Fries and onion ring are good. Had chicken strips and gravy once and that was also good. The place is kinda pricey for a fast food restaurant but you get a good amount of food. Service kinda sucks. They are nice but it takes forever, especially when they get busy. But overall pretty good food, would good back again.

I don't live around the corner from here. I live in Dallas and come out here every now and then to either pick up or drop off my niece at college. My bacon cheeseburger with onion rings or fries NEVER disappoints.

Top 25% of restaurants in Altus Oklahoma. Probably top three burger joints. Sometimes they have really good cakes, too. Give it a try.

I love the menu variety, and the service was good for a Tuesday night. But, it's the prices, they really got to me. I like their burgers, and their rings, and their service, but here, in this town, it's just not worth the money to spend here. Maybe on a date or a 'splurge' night perhaps. I agree their food is great, but I'm not paying $11 or $12 for a hamburger even with fries when other places in town serve similar portions [maybe slightly smaller] than this place. I'm not against this place, but I also have a few other choices here in Altus to go to, heck even Elmer or Blair. Try it out, you may find I'm dead wrong.
(3)Morgan H.
Great burger place! They have some massive burgers that taste awesome. Their onion rings are also tasty! My husband gets the chicken fried bacon every time and is never disappointed. The price is not bad for the food you get. And it is normally pretty busy. This is a good comfort food location.
(4)Kristin P.
Didn't quite know what to expect, but the food was very good and freshly cooked. Given the name, it's not for those watching calories, but it's a yummy treat that satisfies all your cravings in one place!
(4)Audrye R.
Home town service, you are always treated as family! Fresh food and great flavor. Burgers are piled high and never lack luster. My cowboy burger kicked ass!
(5)Cricket D.
When Cafe Richards is closed this is where we hit for burgers for supper. The wait staff is beyond awesome, friendly, chatty, great with the kids! If you are disappointed in service in Altus stop here and your faith will be restored! Burgers are fabulous, big and juicy!
(4)Chuk S.
Driving through Altus. Make sure you pass on McD's for this local jewel. I'd be a "fat daddy" if ate here often.
(5)Steve B.
This is a great american burger joint. The have a friendly staff and good home cooked burgers. The decor is modern and is clean. Check it out if you want a good burger and fries!
(5)Karen S.
My husband and I had the rib platter, Very disappointing . They seemed to be boiled and finished in the oven. There was absolutely no smoke ring and no love. The sides were also subpar and ordinary. The other member of our party had a burger and he said it was just OK. The onion rings were very good as was the service. They were very nice.
(1)Tow T.
Have eaten here several times and each time had a great experience. Burgers are delicious, fries are good, the service is great, and the atmosphere clean.
(5)T S.
Love Fat Daddy's. If my husband and I want some place for lunch, this is typically where we head. The fries are delicious and so are the onion rings. Burgers are juicy and service is good.
(5)Don W.
My buddies love it. It's aiight. After eating at In-N-Out in Dallas, my burger standard has risen and nothing's the same. Fat Daddy's fries are delicious though.
(3)Ryan S.
Pretty good cheeseburgers. Don't get the onion rings, they give you about three. Not worth it for the price. Seating is pretty narrow since the place is usually packed and the building isn't that big. Haven't tried their pie, but heard it was good.
(4)Spencer R.
Real good burger! Onion rings were tasty too and beer was cheap. Definitely will eat here again. Service was friendly, good place for some all American eats.
(4)Douglas K.
This place is awesome. They have just about everything you could want. I have been addicting to this place since I first tried it because not very often will you find great food in Altus. My last meal here in Altus was their apple glazed pork chops and it was the best meal I have had at a restaurant in Altus during the past 5 years. The steaks are awesome too, get the sirloin...it is better than the ribeye. Their catfish and chips are great too. Oh, and their desserts...the Italian cake is worth trying and my dad said their German chocolate is one of the best he has had. There are no negatives.
(5)Devin D.
Fat Daddy's is an awesome spot for classic and simple American food done well. You can tell the burgers were made with actual ground beef and not processed preformed patties. The fries and onion rings were both great as well. I love their fries, they were a bit soggy last time I had them but it was cooked well enough that you could taste the potato and not just the oil it was cooked in. If you have room for dessert, make sure to get some cake. Hell, get some cake even if you don't. We tried their strawberry cake and their itaian cream cake and both were delicious. The service is good and the waitresses are friendly. The food took a bit to come out, but wasn't unreasonable.
(5)John P.
It's good for Altus. The food is tasty and the portions are big. It's just diner type food. Greasy burgers and fries but that's really whAt the place is about. I've been there twice so it's not too bad. Service from the staff both times were friendly and quick.
(3)Kacey A.
Nothing terribly special, but it says something that this place is always CLEAN. Seriously. It's clean. LIke they clean up after someone leaves. That says a lot for Oklahoma. We've only gotten the burgers. See a trend in my reviews? Anyway, the burgers are pretty good. BUT, the onion rings are where it's at. Seriously. I've come here just for the rings. We got fries the other day for the first time, and those were really tasty too. I've always wanted to try their dessert, which is homemade daily (fresh strawberry cake anyone?), but I've always been too full. Prices are great, and I think we've always been given a military discount without asking. Nice!
