I concur with the previous two reviews. This place reminds me of special shops in the SF Ferry Building or in Napa, except the price is way more reasonable. There is indoor and outdoor seatings. You can buy your food from the dali and eat there. I liked the different beverage selections. The sandwich with chicken and greens that I had was good. My coworker was a fan of the two selection salad.

Everything you could ever hope for from an Italian Deli like place. Delicious sandwiches, salads, pastries and even some entrees. All made with very high quality ingredients which you can also buy in the market portion of the store.

Good one stop shop for italian food and supplies. Has great sandwiches. I had the Sammy V Classico. It came with prosciutto, fresh motz, and hot peppers on thick sliced old world bread. The bread was warm and moist with a good outer crust. The prosciutto wasn't dry and was easy to bite through without getting stuck in your teeth. The fresh motz was decent enough for a deli sandwich but wouldn't use it on it's own. Also had the pasta fasuli which was damn good. Ended up buying some sweets on the way out to take to granny's and it was a hit. Will definitely swing by when I come through Y-town again. Might grab a few sandwiches for the flight back home to London.

This is the gem of Youngstown. In a town that doesn't offer much in the way of great eating, this is truly an Italian oasis. We always stop here when we are in town visiting family. We stock up on olives, fresh bread, extra sharp provolone cheese, their own HOT peppers and have a feast for lunch. They have a great selection of Italian pastries and cookies as well as imported pastas, sauces and other Italian specialties. It's part Italian grocer, part informal restaurant. The last time we visited, we bought sandwiches to take with us to eat for dinner on our long road trip home back to Massachusetts. It really provided a little happiness on the road, instead of the typical nasty roadside choices available through PA and NY.

Jimmy's is one of several Italian specialty stores and while all of them are very good I like Jimmy's best. Very good sandwiches, pizza and beard. For anyone to say Youngstown doesn't offer much in the way of good eating shows they don't know what they are talking about. This town is loaded with restaurants that have been around for 60-70 years so they must be doing something right. Be a little more adventurous and actually try some before you dismiss the region.

You have to go in the store just for the smell. Truly an authentic Italian store/deli. They have just about every Italian specialty you need. Meats, cheeses, cookies, etc. They also prepare fresh hot food as well. They offer soups, pizza, salads, hot/cold subs-all made to order. I recommend the Rosina Classico (Rosemary prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sweet roasted peppers and Jimmy's homemade hot peppers on old fashioned Italian bread). Absolutely mouthwatering. They recently remodeled and moved into the old Ponderosa building on Belmont Ave. to allow you to dine-in or carry out. JUST GO TRY IT!!

Stopped at Jimmy's on our way from State College back to Cleveland. Everything we sampled was excellent. The margarita pizza was as authentic as it gets...delicious tomatoes, a light dusting of Parmesan cheese and a soft yummy crust. Wedding soup was tasty with bite sized meatballs and full of escarole. We got a large Frank's salad...outstanding! All fresh ingredients, great dressing and a huge portion. Two of us shared it and still had plenty of leftovers. Topped our meal off with a couple of cookies from the bakery...melt in your mouth delicious. Service was great, ate in their cafe area while Italian music played. Excellent food and great value. Highly recommended.

Wife and I had paninies(sp?). The reviews inflated my expectations. Our sandwiches were good but not great. Dessert was great.

Whenever I'm heading east on 80 and heading by Youngstown, I stop by Jimmy's. Love the choice of olives, cold cuts, bakery and prepared foods. Grab a Classico to go (with the hot peppers) and a small bag of black or hot pepper biscotti. Nice staff. Wish we had a store like it around here.

Great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. Awesome food and cheap prices at the Hot deli. Ready made pizzas pepperoni rolls and ciabatta breads, tons of baked goods, an Olive, pepper and cheese bar/deli and a hot food section with some great tasting food. The Bricks, greens and chicken parm with cavatelli are a favorite with my family, cant wait to try the other items but never seem to be able to pass up our usuals, great prices at the hot food section as well. Also has a small selection of homemade italian meats and specialty items in store, even pasta machines and italian heritage items.

This place is phenomenal. I stopped in to get a couple sandwiches for me and a friend and they were so delicious. Their bread is fantastic, their meats are super flavorful--but the peppers, ohhhh the peppers, they're amazing. Next time I'm going to ask for a container of some to take home. The service was fast and friendly, too!

We stopped by here on the way back to MI from NY and decided to give it a go due to it's Yelp rating. We were not disappointed. The minute we walked in the door we knew we were in for a great meal. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful with recommending several dishes for us to try and we were glad that we all ordered something different so we could sample from each others dishes. When we explained that we were driving back to MI, he even packed us up a few cookies for the way home. How nice is that? The food and the service could not be any better! Hope to make it back there again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
