If anything, the food got better here. This is more than a pub, it is a cross between grandma's kitchen and a power breakfast, lunch, or dinner spot. The Tuesday meatloaf special was perfect: includIng gravy & homemade potatos & green beans. They also have asparagus, broccoli & fried freen tomatoes on the menu. So was the gingerbread cake, which comes with ice cream or cool whip, which I like. Not to ignore more urban tastes, they have a diverse menu. Crowd is very friendly to all. The fried green tomatoes are salted to southern tastes but all the rest was to a more modern & urban taste. It provides breakfast fot hotel guests and is located right downtown. Easy parking.

I went with a group of 4, who all had different meals. Two different burgers, pasta and a beef sandwich. Overall our group really enjoyed the food and service! Only downside is our hungry group would've preferred a little more fries with the burgers. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

We stopped in late on Friday for a quick bite. Had heard their burgers were quite good so decided to try the cheeseburger, 1/3 lb of meat, medium-well. The menu indicated it came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Saratoga chips were the suggested side. When my burger arrived it had a slice of melted American cheese, no lettuce, tomato, onion or pickle AND no ketchup, mayo or mustard. When I asked for the veggies the server gave me an odd look but did bring those back in a bit. My burger didn't look as though it had anywhere near 1/3 lb of meat and it was undercooked. Because it took a while to get my food, I wasn't going to send it back. No dressings were offered and so I just added the veggies. The burger wasn't anything to write home about. The chips were fine. It's not a place I would head back to for dinner!

I was eager to try out the food at this restaurant, since I heard such great remarks. Last Friday, me, my husband, and family went to the General Denver for my birthday. We made dinner reservations the day before for 6 pm. They were very accomadating when I called about two hours before our dinner reservation to reschedule for 6:30 pm. The wait time on the food took about 30-35 minutes, which was a little long, but to be expected on a Friday. I ordered the cajun chicken pasta, which came with garlic bread and a house salad. My husband and mom ordered the fish fry with coleslaw and fries. My dad and sister ordered salads. We were all pleased with our meals and I'm looking forward to coming back here with my husband!

Neat place, eat in the bar, the rest of the place is kind of stuffy. Very friendly staff and bar tenders. Burgers are very good! Like your dad made them on Saturday afternoon. Music on Wednesday nt. good place to check out if in town.

First time there. Food was really good and priced reasonably. The service was good. We ate in the pub area which was really crowded (saturday night). The seating was a little too close for comfort for me and the A/C must not have been working right. I would definitely try it again, though.

Love the Flank Steak, perfectly marinated. I had the Filet last time and have to say I like the Flank Steak better. I ate in the bar very friendly staff. My son loved the burger. Have to say it is the best place I have eatten in this one horse town. I'm from Dallas and used to more choices but this is my #1 spot. I also stay at the B & B. It is so close to the college I can pick my son up for breakfast. AND THE SUNDAY BREAKFAST is GREAT! I had the Denver Bake and woo was it good. hash browns arent my favorite, I find them a little tasteless but the fruit was very nice.

My wife and I are from St. Louis and heard about The General Denver via the Glenn Beck Show. It was everything he said it was! We truly enjoyed ourselves in Wilmington and plan to return. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Not a big fan. Menu is not very inspiring and price is a little high.

Good service. Always a great beer selection. Good diverse menu. Excellent atmosphere in the pub. I think not so much in the main dining area.

My wife and I try to seek out unusual (non-chain) places to stay while traveling, and we couldn't resist booking a room in this hotel after reading about it's history. The hotel (built in 1928) has an amazing presence in this small town, and looks inviting from the outside. It's even cooler inside - an old fashioned register where your reservation is written in ink, a stuffed moose head over the check-in desk and an original elevator to reach the upper floors, manned by the hotel staff... There is a busy little pub off of the main entrance, but more about that later. We were greeted like we were friends and ushered to a second floor room by our host. There was a very comfortable lounge area on the second floor balcony, with seating and tables. It is stocked with current magazines, coffee and snacks. The room was small but comfortable, and was decorated with retro furniture. The bath had luxury towels and products. There was a television in the room, but no phone (who cares-we all bring our own now). The pub/restaurant features dinners with local farm products, steak, fish and great burgers. My wife and I had fantastic lamb burgers with local lamb, feta, roasted red peppers, arugula, remoulade, fresh mozzarella an fried green tomatoes. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked great. Every member of the staff that we met was friendly, professional and attentive. And we were treated to a cooked-to-order breakfast in the morning. I would highly receommend the General Denver as THE place to stay and eat at if you end up anywhere near Wilmington, Ohio.

This place is very down to earth. This was my first time eating here and it was wonderful. Try the house salad dressing it is awesome. They use local vegetables from local farmers. The farmers market even sets up near the restaurant on Saturdays. If you are looking for a new place to try stop by you will not regret it.

My family made reservations for Mother's Day, and I wish we hadn't. They weren't super busy, but our food took well over an hour and a half to get from the kitchen to our table. I would be more understanding if they were slammed with orders and we had ordered food that takes a long time to cook... But most of us had eggs or omelettes, food that cooks fairly quickly. On top of the long wait, the waitresses were clearly uninterested in giving us refills, and they were off put by questions about where our food was. I know this sounds like we are impatient people, but one of our family members is a type 1 diabetic who can't wait very long after taking his medication to eat. You should change the name to Generally Disgusting. Please close down permanently!

We went to Wilmington, which looks a bit like a town that time forgot. Quiet, friendly but NEVER expecting such a restaurant and pub with the quality of food you receive. Service is fantastic, and they treat you like a regular, even though you just stepped foot inside for the first time. All the menu items are cooked to order and wonderfully delicious. Oh, and DON'T skip dessert or you will regret it. A must visit if you are in the area!

This is simply a gem of a family-owned, historic hotel. We have stayed here 3 times now while visiting family. Every time, every single staff member we have interacted with has been friendly, helpful, and more than generous with their time and their smiles. And on top of that, prices for both rooms and food are very reasonable. The food is delicious and the options range from basic to gourmet. If at all possible, try to include a Saturday night in your stay as the Sunday brunch is one of the top five I've ever had the privilege to enjoy. The rooms are charming and clean. Also, if you are traveling with a larger crew, the suites are lovely & spacious. I cannot thank the General Denver enough for being our home away from home when visiting this part of Ohio.

We ended up in Wilmington due to !-71 being at a standstill (AGAIN) on the route From Columbus to Cincy and found the General Denver via restaurant search while on the move. The food was really good. I recommend the bleu cheese cajun burger - cooked the way I like my burgers and had plenty of bleu cheese. Additionally, the staff was very helpful in getting us re-routed due to the traffic stoppage on I-71 -- there's only so much a GPS will do for you and the staff recommendation put us back on track. I hIghly recommend even if the traffic doesn't take you away from the interstate.

Great Food, Great Service, best food in Wilmington. If you are visiting Wilmington OH - you have to stop in and try. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Jeff P.
Disappointing. Only commenting on the restaurant: Seems like a place that has it together, but they apparently can't handle any kind of crowd. It took over an hour for food to arrive with only a half-full dining room. Food was decent but with higher-than-decent prices.
(2)Sara L.
Great food - I recommend the carbonara pasta. My boyfriend and I actually finished all of our food, which hardly ever happens! The downside was that there was a half an hout wait for a table.
(5)Will G.
Stopped in here to meet a friend for lunch on a recent trip from Louisville to Columbus. The pub was crowded, but we got a table just as it was filling up. The food was good and they offer a wide range of dishes so most people should find something they like. I had the Greek flatbread pizza, which I really enjoyed. We shared the artichoke dip and chips to start. That was good as well, but it is a very rich dish. I would definitely recommend this spot for dining in Wilmington. Although this was not something that affected us directly, I did also notice that the staff were helpful and offered to open the dining room when a large party came and could not get a table in the pub. I think that speaks well for the level of service that is offered.
(4)Jessica D.
The few times I have been here the food has been delicious! A lot of the dishes on the menu use fresh, local ingredients (including the lamb), which you can honestly taste. The sweet potato fries are my favorite and I love their different burgers. This place is very rustic and a wonderful pub/restaurant! So glad it's located in my home town :)
