This was our first time at Sebastiano's and I must say...we'll be back. We did make reservations because of the holiday. The owners gave their employees the evening off and I commend them for that. They worked the restaurant by themselves. Sara was a delight and her husband was cooking away in the kitchen. We started off with a bottle of Chianti, then ordered dinner. My husband ordered the Seba's Lasagna along with Tomato Basil soup. He really enjoyed it. I ordered the Frutti Di Mare (shrimp and bay scallops ) along with the Caesar salad for an additional $1.00 charge. I thought the salad was excellent and the Frutti Di Mare had a light alfredo sauce with a hint of lemon. It too was excellent. Someone had written the portions were too small, well I disagree...they were perfect. In fact, I brought some of my meal home. The StranahanTheater is across the street, so plan ahead when it's a performance night.

First time to this restaurant despite living in NW Ohio for past 25 years. Appetizers were authentically unique. Entrees were perfectly prepared. Ambience was fair. Good food at a fair price. Would definitely go back.

Always loved the food here when Sebastiano was still managing. As I understand, the recipes stayed when he sold it! I will be stopping in soon to see all the changes and have high hopes. I love local places like this one!

Poor management. I have been to this place twice about a year apart and both times was told they had no room and could not take us. What restaurant books every table for the entire evening and takes no walk-ins. I would never return. Who cares about the food you cannot eat there. Wake up your not that good.

After our failed attempt to dine here a few months ago, & the restaurant telling us they didn't have our reservation & were full & could not seat us, my husband & I returned to Sebastiano's with my mother, sister, our son & his girlfriend a few weeks ago before the play "West Side Story". I called a week in advance to make the reservation & then reconfirmed the Monday the week of the play ~ in hopes that this reservation would not be lost. I am happy to say that all went well & it was again a wonderful experience! We were delighted and plan to return to this restaurant in the future.

You would be better off buying a Stouffer's lasagna from the frozen food section than to eat the bowl of slop served up by Sebastianos. I have no idea how this can be considered food. Gruel is more like it.

I've never been treated so rudely in my life. We were seated a half-hour before closing and were the only ones in the restaurant (group of 7). The owner obviously wanted to get home early, and she wasn't about to be inconvenienced by her customers. The miserable owner hovered over our table glaring at us through the entire meal. She snapped at us at every opportunity, demanding we eat quickly. When we asked to order deserts, she told us, flat out, "No." We left, and none of us will ever go back.

Always a lovely, yummy experience at this fabulous Italian restaurant, just across from the Stranahan Theater in Toledo.

This was our first trip back to Sabastiano's since the change in ownership. The good news it's the same nice place it has always been. Glad we had a reservation as the party of 4 who walked in before us were turned away. Unnecessarily as it turns out as there were a couple of "reserved" tables that went unused. We built our own pasta dishes which worked out nicely. They were tasty and the portion generous. I will say the $2 up charge for gluten free pasta although nominal, came without warning and does not occur at our other usual Italian places in town. Good wine and good food in a pleasant atmosphere on a cold winter night. Doesn't get much better.

I really enjoyed our evening in very nice, low key evening at a classy place. We had one of the appetizers (the one with bread and mushrooms, but I dont remember what it was called) and it was spectacular. I wish I could have gotten that mushroom dipping stuff as a soup! The minestrone soup was okay, middle of the road for me as was my husbands garden salad. I had bow tie pasta with meat sauce and my husband had a pizza. I know this is going to sound a little silly, but the meat sauce really did taste like the meat sauce my Italian grandmother used to make! The only issue I had with my pasta dish was the pasta didnt seem to be drained all that well and there was a lot of water in the bottom of my dish. My husband's pizza was very good and obviously hand made (the braid on the crust is a nice touch). Our key-lime torte was a nice finish to the evening. The place is a little pricy, but the quality is excellent. The server was very nice and attentive.

This is one of those hidden gems in Toledo. Most people don't even know about it. I have been here a few times now and everything has been great! Such a refreshing change from all of the chain restaurants in this town. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood near Detroit, and I'm used to the real deal. In my opinion, this is by far, the best Italian restaurant in Toledo. It's not formal, in fact, at first you may think it's too informal, but once you see the menu, you will realize that it's not just some pizza joint. Great food! Highly recommend!

Went here before a Straight, No Chaser concert and the service started out great. We were the only ones in the place. We got seated promptly with drinks. Once the restaurant was full, service was mediocre. Slow refills and getting the checks paid was also slow. We had to go up to the desert case for them to take our money. Also, the homemade lasagna is an extremely small portion. This is not mentioned on the menu. I felt like it should have been doubled. Luckily my girlfriend has a small appetite because I ended up eating half of her meal (Chicken and Herbs Alfredo) in addition to the lasagna. That is a meal I would recommend!

Stopped at Sebastiano's with friends, Friday night, 9/6. They were busy, but the wait wasn't long, and since they are small, it's almost expected. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the nightly special - pasta with portobello/meat sauce, one of my friends had the same, and my other friend had the meatballs. Fantastic food, the staff was professional and friendly, and the chef came out to greet us and make sure everything was good. What a great experience!

Went out with Family of 5 for a late lunch on a Friday. Lunch crowd was thinning, waitress was very attentive with getting our table ready. Menu was reasonably priced and everyone found something they liked with ease. I was feeling sporty and ordered a custom spinach and salmon pizza, Sebastiano topped the pizza sauce with red pepper flakes before adding the other ingredients. It was excellent and perfect size for one person. The other entrees were also very good, portobello mushroom with roasted peppers and a pesto mayo sandwich, chicken Caesar wrap, turkey bagel sandwich with olive paste and chicken primavera w/bow tie pasta (special of the day). We finished off with desserts and coffee, all very good.

We had dinner here on an overnight stop in Toledo. Excellent atmosphere, friendly & competent service, and very good, authentic Italian food. I had the lasagna and DW had a portabello mushroom sandwich. Desert was good too, but I can't remember what we had. We loved the experience and will definitely be back if we're in Toledo again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
