What a wonderful find so close to my hotel (Radisson on the UT campus). I thought "I don't know, Mexican in Toledo?" but my Irish colleague really wanted Mexican. Surprise! Everything was fresh, spicy, and do they make the tortillas there? Guacamole was a bit uninspiring but the enchiladas with mole were great and my seafood tacos were a giant thumbs up! Very attentive service, nice Mexican beer selection. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in Toledo! Oh, and don't forget to finish up with churros!

Mi Hacienda has pretty standard Mexican American food - a lot of cheese and refried beans - basically what you expect in these parts. The margaritas were tasty and nicely priced and the chips and salsa were fresh and delicious.

If you are looking for a quick meal this not the place. The service tends to be a little slow. However, the food is great and the staff is friendly. I usually order fajitas. The Mi Hacienda fajita is huge, great if you want to share with another person or take some home. I also enjoy the carnitas and queso fundido. There is parking out front and also a lot off to the side across the road.

Food? Good. Margaritas? Good. Chips and salsa? Good. Its our local Mexican place. I have no idea the "authenticity" of the food, if thats what youre looking for. But we've been here a number of times with and without the kids. It's always a family favorite. We've even held a family party here. We'll be back. Again and again!

Went here today for lunch. Quick and easy was the best way to describe this experience. Food was good but honestly looks like every other Mexican restaurant in town. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and there meat was very flavorful. Good lunch option for the area!

One of our favorite hangouts. Authentic Mexican food and ambience, reasonable prices, consistently good service.

Great Mexican food! Awesome service. And I'm from Texas so my expectations for Mexican food is pretty high. Fabulous! ! I will be back very soon!!

I got the steak enchilada and it was decent. Steak was kind of salty. Chicken fajita was decent. Chips and salsa were free which was cool

My husband commends the chips and salsa. For the most part, our food was adequate, and we felt it lacked the level of authenticity we like from a Mexican restaurant. Service was indifferent.

We were looking for a place where our family could eat lunch on a Sunday in Toledo. We needed it to be child friendly, picky eater friendly & vegan friendly. Enter Mi Hacienda ... The beans aren't made with lard (the vegan in the group was pleased!). They were willing to substitute and eliminate ingredients (the picky eater was happy!). Kids eat free on Sunday and they had lots of different things to choose from on the kids menu - Mexican and otherwise. The service was great and our food was very tasty. We would return, for sure!

If I could have made it past the salsa, I might have been able to review the food. They could have opened a jar of Newman's Own for better results. The salsa tasted like watered down ketchup with a cilantro leaf in it. Asked for more spicy salsa, received hot sauce to add to it. Did not stay for dinner--too many strikes against. Food in the seats, food on the windows. Exceptionally slow service. Bland salsa. A room full of messy tables. Decent margaritas so two stars. Left and went to Don Juan instead.

Awesome service. For example, the waiter asked me if I would like another marg. The very NANOSECOND that I said yes, he handed me one, which he had already made and was holding behind his back! (Apparently, most people say "yes"). He also did a little table side magic for the kids. Cool. Oh yeah, the food came out quickly and our order was accurate. The drinks themselves were very good. One other thing I noticed, is that Mi Haci (as the regulars seem to call it) has an excellent tequila selection. One might plan to do a shot or two here, someday. Food: Without going into too much detail...the wife got the Mango fish tacos (4/5). I got the carne asada beef chimi (5/5) and tortilla soup (5/5). I don't remember what the kids got, but they cleaned their plates (and kids ate for free that day!) The flan we had for desert? Not so great. Next time we'll skip the desert and have one of those shots that I was talking about. Five stars for now.

This is just a great little place for any occasion - celebration, family dinner, girls night out. We frequent it because it is always good, great service and reasonably priced.

This was our second trip to mi hacienda, the first was not the best. The food was delicious but the service was awful. This time we had an amazing experience. The waitress was checking on us regularly and never did I see the bottom of my glass. Our dinners were phenomenal. My husband ordered the fajitas that had every meat possible (typical man). And I went for it and the first thing I saw which was the guadalhara something Or other. My food came out and I couldn't believe how much food I had got. For $10 I will be eating it for the next 3 night's. My husband's fajitas were also delicious all the peppers were fresh and I'm not talking kroger fresh. I think someone went outside and picked the peppers special for my husband. Overall we will defiantly be coming back.

Top notch Mexican restaurant - it's great to see a Mexican restaurant taking pride in their ingredients and making sure all is fresh. Lunch or dinner, food come out fast and the service is great as well.

Love, love, love this place!! Food is absolutely delicious, service is fast and friendly, and the drinks are tasty. I personally recommend the Pollo Con Queso. Chicken with delicious cheese sauce poured over the top, beans, rice, and guacamole comes along with fresh tortillas. It is like a delicious cheesy fajita minus the peppers and onions. Also, the Mojitos are some of the very best I have ever had! Do yourself a favor, go eat Mi Hacienda tonight!

Mi Hacienda is cool, comfortable, and very well priced. The food is great, and the service is good as well. I had their carne asada meal when I was there (which is what I always order when I go Mexican). It arrived within ten minutes of being ordered...piping hot! I washed this down with a couple of delicious margaritas...who could ask for more? The restaurant has a cozy feel to it, and I think it's because of the layout of the place. All the booths are enclosed with brickwork which helps to cut down the noise. Whoever built Mi Hacienda put a lot of time and money into it. The decor is lively and colorful...chairs and tables included. If ya' like Mexican food, ya' gotta' check out Mi Hacienda.

Went for dinner with friends on a Sunday evening. Parking in front of the restaurant was almost full, so I thought this was a good sign. The restaurant was busy, but not overly packed. I wish the waitstaff was a little more attentive - there were times when we waited for drinks and they were slow to bring them out - never clearing the empties on the table. When we ordered the food, it came out in a reasonable time - very good. Everyone in the party was happy with their meal. After dinner, we were not asked if we would like desert (odds are we would have) so that was a downer. I'd like to go again and give the place another shot.

My husband and I eat here several times each month. We have had consistant quality when it comes to the food, no matter what we order. Margaritas are my favorite anywhere - lime marg on the rocks with salt, always tastes fresh (not from a mix). Chips and salsa are made fresh daily, and they keep 'em coming. Our opinion - it's the best Mexican food and smiley-est wait staff in town.

about as good as it gets for Mexican restaurants in Toledo. You just aren't going to find truly authentic Mexican food this far north, but the food here is good, the service is great, & the atmosphere is as well. The kids like it too.

We Love Mi Hacienda! The endless chips and fresh salsa always cause me to over eat but its worth it! Cheap and delicious Mexican food! Plus they always have Groupons available!

I've drove past this place on the way to my fiances old home for years and I have always been a bit skeptical about going there. Everytime I drove past there it always seemed to be busy... We decided to give it a try on Cinco De Mayo this year and I must say that I was impressed with the place. The food was great and the drinks were cheap. The service was great even with it being packed and we didn't have to wait at all since the place is so big. The Queso was good and the fajitas was excellent as well. I would recommend this place over Don Pablo's or El Vaquero

Fajitas were spicy. Not white-person-spicy. They were actually spicy by equatorial standards. And the Hornitos margarita was good enough to grant a few wave-splashing-auditory hallucinations. Portions? Too much for me. Service? Friendly and grateful. Didn't hurt that the place was SPOTLESS. Perfect 5 stars. My only recommendation to the owners: Cut the menu in half. No need for so many items, just the ones you really specialize in. The only 'downside' of my experience had nothing to do with the restaurant itself and was pricelessly entertaining. The man and woman in the booth adjacent were discussing their sex life, even going down to the details of a certain monthly event. She knew the last date they'd played 'hide the salami', which was a good 3 weeks back. They ordered more drinks--after which he began explaining how they *COULD* do it tonight, were it not for the fact that he was too full (I don't blame him, no one ever mistook large quantities of Mexican food for an aphrodisiac). The conversation ended when he became incensed and jealous over something trivial and she walked out on him (you go girl!), giving me a seductive grin in the process, which meant either: 1) She was oblivious to the fact that her inappropriate and revolting conversation was far louder than the splashing Cancun waves of my imagination and as a result, did not in any way feel it would be inappropriate to flirt with a complete stranger (a mere four feet away from her current boyfriend); 2) She thought that somehow the discussion of her sexual appetite (which might just have been greater than her apparent appetite for sour cream and refried beans), was a giant gooey sundae of turn-on for me and her smile at the end was intended to just be the cherry on top. I'm not sure what to think. It was Toledo, after all....

Dining here, besides the consumption of a good meal was an educational experience as well. I now know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like when done right. All along I've been eating a lot of Mexican food without realizing what it was lacking, flavor. We went to Mi Hacienda for the first time the other night and I found it fantastic. I had the chicken chimichanga, which is the normal meal I get in Mexican restaurants, using it as a baseline to gage them by. The chimichanga was excellent, very flavorful, not the least bit bland which I now realize is what I'd been getting other places. We went back two days later for lunch. I had a burrito which also was excellent. Their prices are cheap too! I

One word Tex Mex..... I like my west coast mexican with those border jumpers making those chicken or the 5 other kinds of tamales with sauce. The food is not authentic but made in bulk. I would rather eat chevys if they ever get one in toledo until then I will just go to el camino real.

  • Sarah K.

It looks authentic but it is not AT ALL. Fresh chips, only good thing. Salsa tasted like bottle salsa, guacamole was bland. The food tastes EXACTLY like Taco Bell for three times the price. No carne asada, they use ground beef. "Tacos" means hard shell. Maybe it's my fault, I'm from California, so I'm used to delicious amazing Mexican food. But this was seriously just a bad experience. Plus the waitress was rude. Sigh. Never eating anywhere but San Marcos ever again!

  • Deirdre M.

I gave them 4 stars BC I believe that if I customize my order more it will deserve that. As it was I would say 3 stars. For starters the chips were awesome. Very thin and crispy. The salsa was also good, but not stellar. I like my salsa a little more chunky. But it tasted fresh. The guacamole was bland. I am pretty picky about guac. I like it chunky and flavorful. This was pasty and bland. My husband really enjoyed it though. He even ate the tortilla bowl it came in!! I ordered a Burrito Sancho but instead of ground beef and chicken, I asked to have the shredded beef. They were happy to accommodate and did not charge extra for the substitution. The shredded beef was AMAZING!!!! Full of flavor and great texture. (On the menu the shredded beef is called "Spicy Shredded Beef" I was worried it would be too hot for me but it literally is not hot at ALL. So if you're looking for spice you may have to put hot sauce on it). I let my husband have a bite and he said he wished he'd gotten it too!! I wished there had been more tomatoes and lettuce inside instead of more beans and rice, but that was a minor issue. The only thing I really did NOT like was the sauce on top. First, it said it came with cheese but it was not real cheese. It was a cheesey sauce. It tasted a lot like the canned nacho/jalapeño dip I've bought at the store before. This fake cheese product was on 1/2 my burrito and on the other 1/2 was marinara sauce. It was a really bizzare flavor combo. I had to scrape the marinara off. I asked the waiter about the marinara and he said they call it enchilada sauce. Next time I will ask for different sauce for sure! My husband got the ground beef tacos. They are hard shell and they could have been a little more generous with the meat. But overall he liked it. He said next time he's going to get the shredded beef BC the ground beef didn't have as much flavor as the shredded. He also got a Margarita and it was nice and strong. The atmosphere is great! Beautiful decor. You feel like you're in a different country. They could have used some Mexican music in my opinion. I always find it a little weird when restaurants don't have music on. The prices were pretty good. For guac, 2 meals, a soda, and a margarita we paid $28 plus tip. Our waiter was Eric and he was great (and cute)! He brought refills before the cups were empty which I always appreciate. He always had a smile on his face and a great attitude! The other staff we interacted with were also very nice. Overall... this is definitely not as good as the Mexican I'm used to in Chicagoland (but neither is any other Mexican I've had in Ohio) But we will be going back here for the great service, atmosphere, and authentic shredded beef.

My new favorite Mexican restaurant! First off, the decor of Mi Hacienda is so much fun. Its bright and over the top, but in the best way possible. And the food is incredible! We were told to get the bean dip, and I'm glad we listened. The bottom layer is made of refried beans and the top layer is melted white cheese. I've had a few different enchiladas there, and they were all delicious. Last time we were in Toledo we ate here three days in a row. I only wish I lived near this place. If you're around the area, and you like Mexican, you have to do yourself a favor stop by.

Great service, and the place is fairly big, and I've never had to wait for a table. Food, chips/salsa, and margaritas are excellent. Chimichangas and fajitas are usually what my wife and I usually get and they are always very good, nice sized portion. Kids usually gets cheese quesadillas and always happy with it. We used a restaurant.com gift certificate and the manager said that we had to print off the certicate, not use our iphone app, but he accepted it this time. Doesn't make sense since restaurant.com promoted their iphone (and soon droid app). Manager said it was restaurant.com's rule, not his. I contacted restaurant and they said they'd contact them to let them know they can accept via the iphone/droid app. But either way, wasn't a big deal and is a great place for mexican food and margaritas!

The family was not too impressed. We looked online for a Mexican place to stop on the way to a Mudhens game. Mi Hacienda was our choice due to the overall high ratings on Yelp. I got the Grande Special. I thought the ground beef in most of the items was pretty bland. I also thought the sauce that was put over everything was much too sweet. It tasted a lot like ketchup. The chile relleno was not crisp, and I didn't like the sweet white sauce that oozed from it after I cut into it. My wife got the Sopes. She found them to be uninspired and not very crispy. The service was fine, but I'm always a little put off when somebody other than your server brings out your food and has to ask where every dish is supposed to go. It was especially awkward here because the fellow who delivered our food spoke with a heavy accent so we had trouble knowing what each dish was as he announced them. Our server was behind him, but offered no assistance.

  • Megan S.

Let me say that I don't love Mexican food, but love this place. If that is not enough, their margaritas are deceivingly strong and delicious. My husband and I have not found one thing on the menu in our several visits that we have not liked. Their prices are very reasonable and they always have great specials. We are big fans of their salsa as well; tastes fresh and has the perfect amount of cilantro. Finally, the service here is second to none. They are attentive and very friendly, but not annoying. The servers are very good with young children; we have a 18 month old, and they can keep them entertained so we don't have to the entire meal. :) Plus, our food comes out hot and delicious before we are ready to say no to more chips and salsa.

  • Diana S.

Whenever my husband and I want Mexican, Mi Hacienda is where we go to get it. The chips and salsa are made fresh daily, and it shows. The menu (as with many Mexican restaurants) is extensive, and we've enjoyed every dish we've tried. The food always comes out faster than we expect, and is always fresh and hot. I've also been known to enjoy the occasional mojito, and they make good ones here. The runners who bring the food out to the table do seem to have a sketchier grasp of English than the main wait staff, but if you remember what you ordered, you should be fine. Granted, this is usually pretty easy with just my husband and myself... The parking can be tricky, as the most accessible parking is alongside the building, adjacent to the road. If the main lot is full, do be aware that there is an overflow lot just beyond the restaurant.

After a rough start to the week, one of my friends and I sought solace in food. The more calorific the meal, the better, and well, Tex-Mex cuisine puts the fat in fat-laden. Had it not been for a recent trip to Thrush's Bakery, I would not have known of Mi Hacienda's existence. Now, I am not one to judge a TexMex place, seeing how I can easily count the number of times I step inside such establishments in any given year with both hands, but I can still differentiate tasteful and delicious from bland and overwhelmingly gross. (Just as an aside, El Vaquero falls under the latter category.) Anyways, back to MH. The lunch menu is nowhere as extensive as El Vaq's, but our dishes came out rather quickly, pipin' hot, and quite delicious. The chicken chimichanga was bursting with flavor inside and out, and MH takes the term melted cheese to a new level. The accompanying rice, refried beans, and guacamole salad were just as enjoyable as the chimichanga itself. Despite the heavy sounding meal, it didn't leave me feeling bloated afterwards. MH exudes a lively feel from the staff to the decor. The staff was one of the most attentive and friendliest I've encountered, and the decor was downright unique in an unexplainable way. Let's just say I walked out of the restaurant wanting a dining table set much like the ones found inside MH.

This restaurant is a hidden gem, its not on a major road so you might not find it without a little extra effort. But those who find it won't soon forget it. The architecture and interior design is superior to any other Mexican Restaurant in town. The tables and chairs are eye catching and colorful. The bathroom down a long hallway is very nicely kept, reminds me of a nice hotel. They have booths tucked away behind brick arches along the wall of the building. So if you like eating in privacy, its definitely a plus. Sitting in there, you feel like your the only table in the restaurant. This place has one of the Best Bars in Toledo. For your birthday, you got a free shot of Tequila. They even talked a group of friends to sing for my friend. They put a sombrero over her head and sang to Happy Birthday to her in Spanish. I'm pretty sure they don't regularly do this, but they will do whatever it takes to make your visit pleasant. The food is good. I don't think there is nothing spectacular about it, but I don't have any complaints. The fried ice cream is an awesome ending. It stays with me when I'm walking out, feeling content.

I can't wait to tell everyone what a fabulous experience I just had here. What an immaculately clean restaurant, incredibly delicious food, gracious service. The wait staff and management tripled over backwards to imagine interesting ways to accommodate my food allergy and my husband and I found the food melting in our mouths! A rare find even for we who spend time in So. Calif. every year. If you are in the Toledo area, treat yourself to this place.

A friend of my mother (this woman is 84 years old) introduced me to this restaurant when I took her to her doctor's a few times. She would treat to me to lunch at various restaurants. This was one of her favorites for lunch, and it has become one of mine. When her husband was alive they came here frequently in the evening, and found the atmosphere delightful For lunch, the food is good-tasting, economical, and doesn't leave one feeling stuffed, just sated.

The food is just as the stars suggest "average". It is not bad and it's not exceptionally good either. I have had take out from this restaurant and have not ate inside. I ordered the chimichanga with shredded beef and received the chunked steak instead. It was tender so I was happy about that, I hate chewy beef. The chimichanga was topped with white cheese sauce, lettuce and tomato. It is also served with rice, beans, sour cream and guacamole. It was are but not something that stands out like more authentic restaurants such as San Marcos! The food is also a bit pricey for take out Mexican there is no lunch menu. We ordered two chimichangas, cheese dip, salsa and chips our order was over 30 bucks just for lunch. I would rather eat inside a restaurant for that price. All and all I will probably order for this place again given the location to my house. However, if you're looking for a Mexican restaurant that stands out from the rest move along. This restaurant is a lot like all the other "authentic" Mexican places in Toledo, just average!

Food was ok, service was horrible. Waited 10 minutes for manager to have to take drink order, then another 10 to see waiter. Food was just average. Too bad this use to be great, always was 5 stars. It will hard to get me back and place was 1/2 empty on Friday night at 8. Hmm wonder why.

On a road trip back from Cedar Point, my friend Amanda and I were craving tacos (as per tradition) and used my trusty Yelp app to steer us in the right direction. After a pit stop in a nearby zombie town left us even more hungry and wondering if we missed the apocalypse - WHY IS NOTHING OPEN? whereareallthepeople? -we ended up at Mi Hacienda. The interior is super colorful, borderline obnoxious. Every chair was a different design. The tables are clear glass with colorful art just underneath etched in. The staff was very friendly and I think everyone there that day stopped at our table. We ordered the Ceviche, it was so good I would've been fine with just that and my margarita. The Veggie Quesadillas I ordered were super soggy and bland. I stuck with the rest of the chips and salsa. They give you a small carafe to refill your salsa with!!! I would probably stick with just small plates here. The best part of the visit was when we were ordering our second margarita. We got large ones first and they make them pretty strong, so we ordered a small one next since we still had some driving to do. The waiter comes back with the tiniest Margaritas I have ever seen. Like, shot glass small. I looked at him squinty-eyed while I reached for my knife or fork to shank his ass. Then from the booth next to us he grabbed our real margaritas and laughed - how trickkyy. As we all laughed uncomfortably for the next few seconds, I warned him never to do that to a drunk again. It was pretty hilarious though, and made our day.

This little place is a hidden little gem. I went here with a friend that lived in Ohio. You go through a store and end up in a restaurant with brightly colored seating and walls. The chicken tacos were excellent and the Margaritas were great also. We sat at the bar. The service was ok. Maybe it was due to sitting at the bar but the waiters did not seem too willing to assist. Maybe it was due to her shift ending. This would not keep me from visiting again but it could have been better service.

So this is the second time we come here. Unfortunately it was because we were hungry. The food is eatable but the service it's been awful. The first time we went there the waiter took our order and after the food arrived he just vanish. We were a party of 14 and apparently they just forgot about us. Nobody checked if we need it refills or anything at all. Somebody my family had to get up to ask for more tortillas almost all the way to the kitchen. And even tho it was Sunday they try to charge us for the kids when it clearly said on their menu "kids eat free on Sundays" The second time the guy that got our drinks was really friendly but when we try to place our order he said he wasn't ready to give him a minute. After seeing about five waiter just stared at us and waking away it look like they wanted to flip a coin to see who would take care of us. After 10 minutes of waiting for a waiter a guy finally show up. And guess what it was the same guy from last time the one who tooked our order and never came back to check on us. We started to place our order wondering if the same thing was going to happen. We try to order regular simple stuff obviously with our with/without needs and the waiter acted like if nothing was possible. Really the place had barely any people. The reason we came here again was a mistake. If it wasnt because we were driving 6 hours back home we would of have left.

Much better Mexican food than any el camino places in town. I just wish they would bring back the tequila bar and tasting nights!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
