I'll start by admitting that Manhattan's is my go to spot in Downtown Toledo. Situated in the center of the burgeoning Adams Street "uptown" neighborhood, this NYC inspired restaurant has excellent food and an even better staff. Whether it's a business lunch, after work drink or a night out, there is always an eclectic crowd and a great atmosphere. When the weather is nice, the wrap around patio is a fantastic spot to relax. Indoors, the bar area has a lot of space while remaining intimate and the restaurant boasts some cozy tables for a quiet dinner. Food quality, presentation and service are very consistent with a wide variety of selections to satisfy any palate. Food favorites include: charcuterie plate, crispy risotto orbs, New York strip, and any lunch salad or sandwich! Also a fantastic and diverse beer selection is on tap all 4 seasons.

I really struggled with weather to give 3 stars or 4 - but always like to give the benefit of the doubt, as was a first visit. Atmosphere I liked. Nothing fancy, but the interior has a lot of charachter in my opinion. Food was good, but not great. I got a chicken dish, and it was not to my taste, and rather sparse. My wife got the beef, and there was enough there we could have split, and hers was wonderful. I also was not thrilled with my cocktail. My martini was all juice, but again, my wifes was very good. All in all, a mxed bag. While I did like it, I am not sure I would rush back. If invited, I would certainly not object though.

This review is for their Sunday brunch. I don't see alot of reviews that mention it. Their own website doesn't mention it. It's $19 n change with tax from 10 to 2pm. Brunch comes with 1 free mimosa, and coffee. It happened to be crowded this Sunday so I elected to sit at the bar. Waited about 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention to find out how it works. Made it over to the buffet about 1245pm. I see remnants of bacon, eggs that looked like they had been there quite awhile and at least 3 empty containers. I went down to the omelet station and mentioned to the gentleman that there were several empty containers down there and I think some of the food needs to be changed out. There was no one else in the area to ask/inform. He went and told someone and told me it would be replenished. Asked him if he could scramble me a couple of eggs and he said he's only allowed to make omelets. He was nice about it so ok I stood in the buffet area about 10 minutes and no new food came out. About 10 minutes later a few of the containers were replaced with majority left sitting. I sat in clear view of the buffet and most items were not refreshed during the hour n half i was there. Nothing I had was good and lukewarm at best. Bacon was only decent meat I had. Not sure what kind of sausage that was but didn't taste like breakfast sausage. The lunch items were mashed potatoes, pasta, quiche, and roast maybe? Couldn't tell. Desserts were 2 pies, fruit medley, banana bread. Highly disappointed. Wouldn't return for brunch. Can't recommend.

What a fabulous place! Was in downtown Toledo for an evening job interview and needed a light bite to eat. Saw this place on Yelp! and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. Situated in a gentrifying area known as "Uptown," Manhattan's has the look of a clean, upscale neighborhood bar & grill, and delivers big time. I ate at the bar, as it was between lunch and the start of Happy Hour. The restaurant was set for dinner, and being alone, I wanted to be at the bar. The bartender recommended the house-smoked pastrami and it was outa this world. Served on homemade bread from a reported 150 year old recipe. Outstanding. Their fries were also pretty special - lightly seasoned, skin on, and piping hot. Very friendly staff and cool music choices via Pandora. When was the last time you heard Charles Boyer singing mid-century French songs in a pub? Having that interview, I did not have a drink, but should I have the opportunity to be back in Toledo, I will definitely try their libations and can see making this a regular hangout. Check it out.

We just came here for drinks and we were the only ones here. Bummer! Anyhow, the bartender was very sweet and kind. We're from out of town, so I bought some glassware to take home. The place is pretty neat and I wouldn't mind coming back to eat when we're in town again!

A bit overpriced for what you get and atmosphere can be too loud, but there is just something about this place that makes me return. I think the service has a lot to do with that. Have never had bad service here. Wait staff just the best and the food is always good

Hesitant because it's a buffet, but WOW ..... Best brunch I have had in a very long time. Amazing Bloody Mary. Mimosa is just ok, but the first one's part of brunch, so who cares. You won't be sorry. Wish we had a brunch this good in Columbus. We'd be there every Sunday!

It was our first time at Manhattan's tonight and we were VERY pleased. The Bartender, Gabe, (who ended up being our server) was very friendly and knowledgable as far as questions on the wine list. Eager to pour a sample of one which I questioned, he spewed more than basic background of the French wine I contemplated; I appreciated that. I ordered the NY strip while my boyfriend decided on the ribs from the appetizer section. The menu was small but eclectic and appreciated on my behalf. However, my guy is used to a big variety of basic options. I'm not a rib fan but the smell was phenomenal! My steak was mouth watering. Cooked to perfection. A chef caught after shift even hit us with some fun facts of the historic downtown Toledo area while we dined on the patio outside. The only flaw I could really point out was my bone marrow paired with my steak; VERY salty but.. Is also coming from a woman who very seldom cooks with salt and isn't familiar with bone marrow or the taste it can bring to a palate.. Other than that I really enjoyed my time.. Great vibes. Great food and we will definitely be back!

Had lunch with my husband here today since it's close to where he works downtown. This was my first time eating here. The parking is really good, that can be an issue downtown. I had the daily special, parmesan eggplant on a ciabatta bun with pesto french fries as a side and my husband had the cheese steak sandwich. The food was pretty good. My only complaint was that it was a little pricey for a couple of sandwiches and fries. The service was also good, our waiter was attentive and nice. We didn't have to wait long for our food either. The atmosphere was nice, the building is very interesting and clean. The music was a bit loud, so it's not a great place for good conversation, but it's a nice place to chill and eat some decent food in downtown Toledo.

From out of town and found Manhattans on yelp. Food was good, but the lunch atmosphere was a little drab. I'm sure this place is much better after dark.

This is a nice, chill place downtown, that is working hard at giving toledo that epic foodie presence. I think the issue is that it's so hit or miss. The bar is great. The parking is great. The apps are great, especially the cheese curds. But the portions are small. These aren't super shareable dishes. The dinners are up in the air. Sometimes amazing (pork belly), sometimes meh (salmon). I keep coming back for the atmosphere, would love the food the catch up.

It was frigid outdoors today and all we wanted was French Onion Soup-only at Manhattan's is it ALWAYS on the menu. And it was delicious....great service as well!

After many times getting cocktails and brunch at Manhattan's I finally went there to eat dinner, and was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the Charcuterie and the Surf and Turf. Excellent service, presentation and my meal was absolutely delicious. A little pricey for me, but totally worth it. Definitely a "treat yo self" place. Also the bartenders are very friendly and make some excellent cocktails. A good place to take a lady out on a date!

Whenever I go here, I am treated SO nicely. I'm quite honestly never "wowed" by anything other than the burgers, (The Webber, OMG!!!), homemade chips, and Broadway Chicken Salad, but they really pull out all the stops for me, especially when I make silly little requests for substitutes or tell them the egg salad is "too mustardy". I appreciate the spirit of adventure at Manhattan's....diversifying their dinner menu really helped. But really, to me, this is a lunch place where I can get comforting lunch specials, a brunch place where I can load up on comfort carbs, and get served nicely mixed cocktails by some really kind folks. The staff at Manhattan's treats me like I'm a special guest in their home and I am always grateful for it. I really do hope they stick around!!!

We've been coming here for many years. It was always nice but just the typical low quality, just off the Sysco truck type stuff. Good ambiance but not worth what you were paying. Things have changed. The menu has been completely overhauled. I had the BLT/scallop salad and chicken saltimbocca special. The salad was spectacular. Scallops just slightly blackened and no hint of fishy taste. Best of all, it wasn't drowning in dressing. There was just enough balsamic to notice. Perfect! The chicken saltimbocca was just a hair dry on the edges. Prosciutto was delicious. The best part of this dish was the endive blanched with cubed carrots, garlic and broth. Wine list was extensive and not overpriced. Server was very attentive and cool although we were the only table there for dinner at the time. Lucky us. No espresso! Boo!!!! Manhattan's is turning it around. Give it a try.

I had the delicious carrot gnocchi tonight. One of my biggest draws to Manhattan's is the location and the atmosphere. I have never had a bad experience here, although I don't dine here frequently. The menu is creative And both the food and the service are high quality.

I recently came here for dinner and wine with a friend. We sat outside on the patio which provided us a nice atmosphere. The service was great and we didn't have to wait very long for our dinner. The food is great and they have a nice selection of wine and other drinks. Highly recommended. A+.

I have been to this establishment a number of times in the last five years and generally had good drinks and decent food. Last week showed that the decline I've been hearing about is understated. I love this building and business but it is not just bad, it is horrendous. The long and short of it: torched prosciutto on the charcuterie plate along with Hormel quality salami. Who cooks prosciutto, much less burns it into a potato chip? The pork belly was tough and 50% fat (I know pork belly is fatty but it was terribly cooked), and bland. The risotto with the pork was quite nice. The "surf and turf" consisted of four, count 'em, four baseball sized steaks served raw, when requested rare, with both burned and raw scallops (this was actually an impressive feat!) atop them with a blooming onion garnish. Finally, somehow a Manhattan at manhattans has little to no whiskey and the check was over one hundred dollars. I sincerely hope that the future holds better things for a formerly great establishment.

This place has been consistently fantastic over the years. Location - Adams & 17th. Less than a block from a few great bars - Manos/The Attic, Ottawa Tavern, Bretz. Ambience - Intimate and classy, yet still comfortable. Come here for just a drink after a night downtown, with a group of friends for a casual dinner, or with a date for a nice evening of great food and jazz. Price - About $10 for appetizers, $20-$30 for entrees, $5-10 for desserts. Drinks are a little pricier than surrounding bars but are MUCH stiffer. Look out for happy hour food & drink specials. Service - The best in town. Servers are always warm and friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Parking - Might be tight at peak hours, but there's usually plenty of available spots on the street and in nearby lots. Music - Always great. Never too loud or slow. Overall, this is a gem of a restaurant.

First time for dinner. We have been here previously for a fundraiser with a fixed sandwich menu only. Ordered the pomegranate martini recommended by the server which was not overly sweet which some flavored Martinis often are. Be careful, as this goes down very easily. Would have given 5 stars, but the pork belly appetizers took 20 minutes to arrive at 5:00 with few other customers present. The entree of beef tenderloin medallions and scallops were cooked rare as we like them. Service was very good with one glitch; a plate had a spot of cooked on sauce and had to be sent back.

Manhattan's is all around groovy and very cool. It's located in one of the old buildings in downtown Toledo, and it's interior reflects the warehouse district where it's situated. On the inside, Manhattan's makes you forget you're in Toledo. Rustic brickwork throughout, all of the tables and chairs are dark timber...everything blends together very nicely and makes for a very cozy, yet classy dining experience. When my girlfriend and I visited, they had a blues/rock band playing. It was a bit loud, but it was live music and they were fantastic! If you want a quiet meal, don't come here! For my main, I had their osso bucco, and it was top notch! Served with three different types of risotto, the meat was cooked to perfection and flavorsome as hell. My girlfriend had the fettuccine with shrimp - it was perfect as well. I wish there were other places in Toledo like Manhattan's. This town is screaming for diversity, and Manhattan's serves a large portion of it.

Went there for Easter brunch with my family. The food was not bad but it seemed that they were overwhelmed as a staff with the above average traffic that day. It was very slow getting drinks and the buffet line snaked through rows of tables making it uncomfortable for those standing in line and those trying to eat with someone's butt in their face. Probably would not go back.

First time ever hanging out in Toledo. We are from Detroit and were down for a Mudhens game with my parents. Knowing that my parents are not real adventurous eaters and are fairly cheap our eating choices are typically planned around their, what I call, culinary flaws. We searched around on the normal sites (Tripadvisor, Yelp, Opentable) and ran across this place. Glad that we did as the experience was positive. We called and made reservations but since we were dining around 5:45 with the old folks they were unnecessary. Parked on the street and were immediately seated. The restaurant had some nice character to it with a nice sized bar, exposed brick walls, and high ceilings. Well lit and comfortable feeling. We were seated at a booth which we had requested (again one of my parents needs) however it was a corner booth which was a bit awkward as I had to sit on a connecting piece between two cushions. Minor inconvenience and discomfort but still should have been noticed as it was definitely where a customer was expected to sit. Waitress was excellent. Extremely personable and helpful with the menu. She explained drink specials and took our drink orders. I ordered a vodka martini and the wife ordered a dirty gin martini. She was asked if she wanted blue cheese stuffed olives in it. Being one of her favorite things she said yes. Couple of complaints about the drinks.... 1. The wife's dirty gin martini was not dirty and she had to ask for extra olive juice. 2. We were charged 60 cents for two of the smallest blue cheese stuffed olives we have ever seen. Really?? We have drank martinis all over the world and never been charged for blue cheese stuffed olives. 3. The drinks were overpriced for what they were. They were not generous pours either. My grey goose was nearly $10. Not ripping Toledo or this restaurant but I have had martinis in far better places than this that have cost less. Ordered our food and everything came out hot, timely, and cooked perfectly. My mother got a chicken salad, father got a mushroom flatbread pizza, wife got scallops, and I got shrimp scampi. All were great. Scallops and shrimp can sometimes be overcooked at restaurants which turns them into rubber. These were nicely done and we were very happy with all choices. Did not have desert or coffee. Ordered a couple of beers with dinner and liked the tap choices. If ever in the area again I would not mind sitting at the bar to try a few of the local brews. I wish they had more locals on tap but I easily chose one that suited my tastes. Final thoughts were that we would definitely recommend to others or even return ourselves if the opportunity presented itself. The waitress was excellent, the food is what I would have expected for a place that bills itself as higher end, and the ambiance was nice. Only complaint I have is that it seemed a bit petty to hit us for an upcharge on olives that everywhere else throws them in for free.

Great location, great patio for people watching on a corner.....and there's where...the story ends. I have been here for brunch, lunch, dinner and a wine event and have never had anything close to great food-wise. Both my friend and myself thought everything at the brunch was warmed over and meh. And both had "issues" later that day, lol. Overpriced, especially the drinks. We aren't REALLY in Manhattan. Maybe they don't know that. Anyhoos - I go in the summer and hang on the patio, but usually use it as a launching pad before heading out elsewhere. Gross bathroom too, btw.

I'm not a frequent customer at Manhattan's but it's always a treat to go here. I've never been disappointed with the food or service. I'm a big fan of their Friday and Saturday prime rib special. There are two sizes with sides and soup/salad but you get plenty with the smaller 10 oz. portion. Sometimes you actually get your entree too quickly when you're still working on the salad. It is very reasonably priced compared to other places in the area. And I love their dessert menu! Wine selection is decent considering location and clientele. The bar area is almost always busy. The dining area is spacious so you're not sitting right on top of your neighbor. It may be a good idea to call ahead for seating depending on the day/time and band scheduled for the night.

So, this year for our family reunion I got excited because I have heard really good things about this place.........UGGGGGG DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THE BRUNCH BUFFET!!!! Disgusting...everything was dry....and had ZERO flavor.....we had 3 adults and one child and our bill was over 70 dollars......I am disgusted at the restaurants in Toledo.....I hope there regular non buffet food is better than that.....YUCK!!!

I can't give a restaurant a perfect rating when I struck out with my initial choices for appetizers, main, AND dessert -- no matter how good the food may be. Fulton Market Cevice? "We're out for the night." Scallop Espoma? "Sorry, that's not available on our menu tonight." Rum cake? "We ran out for the day." Needless to say, things did not start off on the right foot from the get-go. Thankfully, my alternative choices proved to be delicious picks or I would not have been a happy diner. The Chinatown Salmon Rangoon was an interesting and enjoyable start to dinner. I viewed it more of a fancy twist to the generic crab rangoons. For my main, I chose the Beef Wellington -- the other dish that caught my attention (after the caviar from my initial unavailable Scallop Espoma.) Generous in the cut and in the flavors, I left the potato and artichoke gratin untouched in order to save room for the important course of any meal: desserts. The tiramisu was fluffy yet rich in espresso, but it certainly was not the most memorable one I've had to date. Food-related issues aside, I have to say that Manhattan's is one of Toledo's best kept secrets. From the service to the layout of the place, everyone and everything exuded a warm and inviting manner. Live music is always a plus in my book.

Cool old building, plenty of live music and events. Upscale ambiance with a good bar selection. Big outdoor patio for the summer and private dinning area for groups. Excellent use of flavor and each dish I've had is done correctly. My personal favorite is the Salmon Fettuccini. The Scottish salmon was prepared perfectly. Always refreshing when a chef knows not to overcook the entrees and a staff that can consistently deliver that end result.

I've been here a couple times. As a bar, this place is great. It has a nice atmosphere inside and good quality drinks. They also have local bands that play even during the week. There is also a nice patio outside, but hipsters hang out there. If you're looking for a place to have a few drinks with friends, this would be a good choice in Toledo. But... As a restaurant, I would have to rate them pretty low. The service was atrocious. We waited 5-10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us, even though the sign said "please wait to be seated". There was no hostess. Then, we waited another 10-15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Another 15 minutes for salads and after finishing our food, another 20 minutes of waiting for a waitress that never came back. We had to flag down another waitress to refill drinks and get the check. The food itself was pretty good but I can't ignore a waitress that is beyond a little slow, just downright rude. I'm sure I could get better service at Waffle House. Until Manhattan's, I hadn't experienced bad service in Toledo and I've been here about a year. There are a lot of other restaurants in Toledo with similar quality food, comparable or lower prices and far better service.

The food was ok, but should have been better for the price. I had beef Wellington that was super dry. My wife had the salmon special that looked 5 star, & she said it was awesome!! Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? The decor itself was really nice & the live jazz band was really cool! I'll give it one more shot, but I suggest not ordering the Wellington.

Room for improvement - mostly when it comes to the food. It's hit or miss, everytime. I do like the outdoor patio in the summer though.

I ordered the Alfredo pasta with chicken. It was one of the best Alfredo sauces I've had. The chicken was a little to charred. The bruschetta was tasty, a little to dry. My friend ordered the salmon cake salad which the salmon was pretty dry. Overall it was OK, not great. I will go back. I ordered this to go. The atmosphere when I picked up the order seemed to be rather dull with a wide variety of clientele.

I had my rehearsal dinner at Manhattan's this past July and it was spectacular. The staff was very friendly and professional - they even decorated the room for us before our guests arrived! The food was amazing and the live music couldn't be beat. Relatives had flown in from all over the country to be there and I don't think I've seen any of them boogie down that much in awhile! Fantastic. Be sure to order the kielbasa.

This is my favorite place in Toledo. It has a very friendly atmosphere. The owners often sit and visit with the patrons. The bar is frequented by an older, upscale crowd with the younger crowd picking the patio when it's warm enough. If you're a regular, the bar crowd will greet you when you come in. Just like "Cheers". Great drinks, appetizers & dinners.
(4)

There is definitely a lack of consistency stopping me from giving Manhattan's more stars. Ambiance is nice, it's a great place to sit at the bar and enjoy a jazz band but the food is very hit or miss. I've had great appetizers and entrees but I've also had entrees that were near flavorless - and recommended by the server no less!

Drinks and food are great and Thursday happy hours are even better when you can receive 1/2 off on drinks and appetizers. I do love this place but can't afford to come here too often as it is a bit pricey.

Nice restaurant. I had never heard of it, but noticed it when driving by one day. The spinach artichoke dip that I had was quite good. It was a bit on the pricey side, but it is a slightly more upscale restaurant so it was to be expected. Unfortunately it was cold out when I went here, so I can't speak for the outdoor seating area, but I would assume that it is their way of keeping the smokers coming to their restaurant.

The brunch is great. The service is hit or miss though. The drinks are always poured well.

Our new favorite spot within walking distance of our new place. Good food and great service. Brunch was outstanding. We are regulars now.

This place has been great and been bad but the good times keep me coming back. A great place to go for a date if you want to impress her, just hope the cook is in a good mood that day.

We went to Manhattan's for a drink on a recent Friday night. They were really busy. The Staff was incredibly friendly and the bar tender Connie was amazing! Great music and food will keep us coming back.

I've only been here for lunch, but it is a very nice lunch spot. The food can be a little inconsistent, but when it's on it is very good. I miss not working downtown for this place.

(2)Tommy T.

(5)Don S.
(4)Alex M.
(3)Octopolis P.
Drinks and food are great and Thursday happy hours are even better when you can receive 1/2 off on drinks and appetizers. I do love this place but can't afford to come here too often as it is a bit pricey.
(3)Paul v.
(4)Jim H.
Consistently great food, prepared well. Measures up to almost any restaurant in any other city. Patio is great too. Breakfast was fantastic - bring it back!

Love this place ! Love this food! Toledo's best kept secret at the moment!!!
