This is the absolute best in Asian dining in the area. I have been eating here for over 30 years. Alice will remember your order and greet you when you return. The portions are large but more importantly the food is delicious. You are doing yourself a huge disservice if you do not at least try it once.

I've lived in the area for a long time and heard a lot of good things about Hunan's throughout the years. Finally, I decided to go try it out because I love Chinese food. Man, I was so disappointed! You do get a large portion, but the food wasn't very good. Plus, it took forever and is a little pricey considering the fact that the food, well, kinda sucked.

Alice's food is to DIE for! The chicken and mushroom soup is a personal favorite, along with shrimp chow mien.

Food is normally excellent but prices are considerably higher than most Chinese restaurants in the area, but portions are large. Chicken & cashews & hot spiced beef are quite good.

There's only one other institution of food that takes me back to a place and time in life I never want to forget, and that's Di'Carlos Pizza in Weirton (not any other location, cause I don't know what the hell you call that stuff those other locations make) Get to know Alice, she will change your life. And she never stops moving, so be ready to listen as she's walking away from you, that's usually when she gives you the secrets to happiness. As far as food is concerned, it's good. There's no Michelin stars here or anything remotely close. I've only ever had the Chicken Chow Mein...and I've been eating there 25 years, a lot. But it's honestly all I need and have ever wanted. I've thought about ordering other dishes but that one dish of onions and cabbage and celery and chicken over crispy wantons just calls out to me every single time and there's no reason to experience anything more...it's love.

My family has been coming to Hu Nan's for years. It is actually one of the first dining experiences I remember. Alice is the best hostess; she remembers us each time, asks how our jobs and families are and even remembers our favorite dishes. Alice really cares about her customers and it shows in how she treats them. I can't order Cashew Chicken anywhere else because it will never live up to Hu Nan's. The sweet and sour chicken is unlike anywhere else. You can tell the sauce didn't come from a bottle. It's not sticky, red or insanely sweet. It is truly sweet and sour. The dish also comes with peppers, onions and carrots, something I've never seen at any other American Chinese restaurant. My all time favorite thing about Hu Nan's is their egg rolls. They are always fresh, crispy and hot from the fryer. They are stuffed full of fresh cabbage and ground pork. just incredible with the super cold condiments tray that Alice brings to your table directly from the refrigerator. I've never had an egg roll better than this. Another special touch is that they bring tea to your table; you don't have to order it nor pay for it. I've always loved drinking out of the little cups with no handles.

Best Chinese in the area, hands down. I've never had a bad (or even mediocre) meal here. Their egg rolls are the absolute best I've had anywhere (and I've eaten a lot of egg rolls :p). They have fantastic soups of the day. My personal favorite is the chicken and mushroom but I also love the beef vegetable (and, as a rule, I do *not* like beef vegetable). When I go for lunch, I always get the shrimp or chicken chow mein. So delicious.... One of my friends has lived in Steubenville her whole life and hasn't been here since she was a kid. She got the chicken chow mein and was actually dancing in her seat because it was so good! She said she can't believe she wasted all these years not eating here. As a side note, I love the owner, Alice. She may not seem like the friendliest person at first, but she really is very sweet and will remember you AND what you order. Bottom line: eat here. :)

We ordered two meals (chicken and shrimp lo mein) for pick up and they were terrible and way over priced . The food tasted like hose water, the chicken was dry and the noodles had an iron taste to them. We were told that it would 20 minutes to half hour for the food to be ready, we got there at 20 minutes and the condensation on the containers indicated the food had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes. I would not recommend this place for anyone who wants good chinese!

YIKES!!!! Really? The owner is a loud mouth. Yelling constantly. She was so obnoxious to a handicapped employee that I literally just wanted to walk out. He was obviously a little slow but you could see how hard he was trying to do everything that she expected. So sad! She said "why do I have to tell you the same thing every single day and you never do it?" (IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!) He did nothing wrong that we could see. He was high functioning and very attentive. He answered all our questions and continually came by to refill our water. She was the one that did not come around when we wanted her to. Just saying.................... I ordered the shrimp chow mein because of a review on yelp saying it was the best they ever had and that this business has been around for 30 years (REALLY?) All I can say is that it had to be a relative or friend that wrote that review because it was the worst chow mein I ever had. The shrimp tasted super fishy (not at all tasty) I was literally afraid to eat it. The "crispy noodles" were on the bottom of the plate and covered with excessive sauce and chow mein that made the noodles "no longer crispy". Not my idea of "crispy noodles" more like "soggy noodle" chow mein. Just saying.................. The owner served us and it was disturbing how she just plopped down our soup like it was slop being fed to a bunch of pigs or dogs or whatever. I literally have never had this kind of service! She was given opportunity here in the USA and acts like she can treat everyone so shitty and I have no idea why anyone would continue to give someone like that their business. Our main course was delivered in the same way. She just threw it down on the table. She crushed 2 of the fortune cookies when she slapped them down on the table. Normally, when you dine at any Oriental establishment you would experience a relaxing atmosphere. NOT HERE! The owner could not shut her mouth. My husband had some kind of a spicy beef dish that was not at all spicy and the beef was chewy. His Mom only ordered the wonton soup and she said it was good but she has probably been here before and decided not to waste our money and only order soup.. The fried egg rolls that she pushed us to get that were supposed to be so good, were over fried and were not eaten for an extra charge of $4.00 for one egg roll. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was not sweet or sour, just bland. Super disgusting attitude and food, the owner treats employees worse than the food tasted and I would never consider going back. Just saying........................

Best Chinese food in the area. I moved away from here about 8 years ago and i eat here everytime I come back to visit. Alice still remembers me and what I order. She asks about my kids, etc, and the food is top notch.
