Was not disappointed so glad our hotel was literally across the street from this gem! I honestly don't care about atmosphere unless it's not clean of course. This place was a little tack in its colorful booths and beer signs but that's to be expected in a lot of American Mexican restaurants and did not bother me. Now for the past that matters food and service. Both excellent! I had quesadilla fajitas, salsa and Guacamole were excellent too. Prices were great $10 fajitas, they had meals for 2 under $20. Even $6 20 oz margaritas and $18 pitchers of margaritas. I wish this place wS by my house!

Great food and service. I have traveled all over the country and I think the wet burrito is top 3. The red sauce has a great smokey flavor that delights the taste buds. I was in town for a conference. If I ever travel through again I'll be stopping here.

Stopped in to Case Real recently after visiting Cedar Point. There were 6 of us and it was not a busy night at Casa. Upon being seated, we were all served water and we placed our drink orders. I ordered a large, frozen margarita. It was really tasty! Nachos were promptly placed before us and they were warm! Yum! The salsa was tasty as well, but lacked heat. My wife ordered some melted white cheese and we were given more nacho chips to go with it, even though the menu said they were not free after the first basket. My wife and I shared the Fajitas For Two and they were tasty. The flour tortillas were served hot inside aluminum foil. This is the only way to serve flour tortillas, in my opinion. It would have been nice to have some shrimp in the mix, but the steak and chicken were good. The food took a little longer than most mexican places I've been, but it was all delicious. Definitely solid fajitas!

Service is friendly and plates are HOT, literally got our foods in under 10 minutes and chips and salsa were served immediately upon arrival. Apparently they give discounts to cedar point workers??? Internet is faster than the hotel's. Great addition to enjoying Cedar Point

If you have a baby don't visit this terrible place. We recently went to celebrate my wife's birthday and the attitude of the staff was the most unwelcoming that you would find in this 'small town - good feel' Sandusky. To top it off they show no regard that you have an infant and refuse to serve you with dignity. They give attitude that it's hard to sit to have a decent meal. It's a shame that such a joint exists in Sandusky.

The latest review for this place says that it closed and is now a Chinese restaurant. That is NOT true. There is a Chinese restaurant across the street (in what appears to have been a Mexican restaurant, probably a Taco Bell, at some point), but Casa Real is definitely still open. On to the review... The salsa here was delicious! It had a hint of chipotle, which I love. That was my favorite part of the meal. The rest was so-so, nothing really any better or worse than any other restaurant of this ilk. We didn't try any margaritas, so I can't speak to their quality, but this would certainly feed a craving for run-of-the-mill Mexican fare.

This was a good place to eat after a solid day at cedar point. I'm a "foodie" so this didn't make it to my "foodie-radar" but it made it to my NOMS-radar. : p It was pretty good, appropriate portions, and the meat was well seasoned. I wouldn't say this was the BEST ever, because let's face it... It's in Ohio...but it does best out many restaurants in that area...

Great food. Great price. Had an issue with getting dirty napkins. But probably just someone trying not to waste them and not realizing it was dirty. Not that that's a GREAT excuse. But it was a good experience none the less. This is my choice Mexican place in NoVa.

It was actually pretty good! I only have 4 stars because the salsa wasn't that good, but otherwise it was cheap, they had good guacamole, and it was fast. We stayed at the la quinta across the street, and now we know where to eat and stay whenever we find ourselves at cedar point! Can't wait to try the margaritas next time!

Casa real has great service and the food is inexpensive. They serve you free chips and salsa and fill it up if you want more. I would go back if we come back In town.

After a day at Put-In-Bay we arrived here around 8pm. We asked to be seated outside but it was closed. Service, at first, was speedy. The waitress got our drink and food orders very quickly. After that, we never saw her for the rest of the meal, until it was time for the check. This was understandable since she was waiting all the tables in the restaurant, but a water refill would've been nice. The chips weren't stale and the salsa was the best part of the meal. The enchiladas and chicken chimichangas we had were filling but bland. This restaurant is standard for most cheap Mexican restaurants, nothing special.

We had spent the day at Cedar Point and decided we'd had enough of the midway fare and wanted to try and find something eclectic and interesting on the way out of town. In the midst of all the chain restaurant BS we saw Casa Real and decided to roll the dice. We're so glad we did! The menu was expansive - something like 80 different combo plates! The chips were fresh and by adding the regular salsa with hot stuff, we made a pretty tasty combo that had just the right amount of kick. Our entrees were delicious and the price was super reasonable. The only odd thing was that while they didn't close until 10, the staff was already vacuuming and cleaning up the tables while we ate our meal at 9:15. Surely odd, but we got a good laugh out of it. I still say Viva la Casa Real!

So if you're looking for authentic Mexican, this is the place to go. Came here for my birthday with my family (we're out of towners). I read other reviews on Yelp and they all seemed positive so we thought to give it a shot. Drinks were good, and so were the chips and salsa. I got the wet burrito and churros for dessert. The only down fall...there was a bug in my moms dinner and the waitress didn't believe us however she did take it off our bill.

Amazing authentic Mexican food. We are here twice in two days. Very good Fajitas but the wet burrito was amazing. The vegetarian wet burrito is so good I cannot describe it with words. Great fried ice cream as well as the guacamole. The staff was super friendly, fast and awesome!!!!

Really good food and service. Had the Wet Burrito and it was awesome. Beef side of the burrito was pretty salty, but the chicken side was great. They cover it in an enchilada sauce and some very tasty queso blanco sauce. I definitely recommend this place and will be back.

This place is not good. Terrible service, fulfilled the wrong order, took forever, basically violated every rule of waiting. I had tacos...they were a 3 out of 10. I ordered a pitcher of regular margaritas...it came back as a strawberry marg. not good.

Food was outstanding, better than the Mexican places near where I live. My oldest (who typically loathes salsa) was ecstatic at the quality and flavor of the salsa, he couldn't get enough of it. Plus, he found multiple things on the menu he liked, which is a rarity at most places. Wide variety of entrees, including some not seen at typical Mexican places. I tried the Pina Vallarta (a half pineapple stuffed with beef, chicken, shrimp, peppers, and onions), it was quite good. Definitely worth a second and third visit. And affordable, too!

When I came to Casa Real for my first time, I didn't like Mexican food. Now, I can't get enough of it. Their service is probably the best service I've ever gotten at a restaurant. My family and I went and ordered right away and we got our food in less than 10 minutes. Overall, Casa Real is one great restaurant.
(5)
Aaron Y.
I really enjoyed Casa Real we're from out of town and we enjoyed the the food. The service was quick and courteous and they were quick to refill drinks, salsa, and chips (a must for any Mexican restaurant). Also, the salsa was solid, they obviously used fresh ingredients. My wife really liked the chili rellennos (sp?) and I enjoyed the chimichangas. This is a solid Mexican joint...

Okay, I never write reviews, but this place rocks. My family and I are in from Chicago at Cedar Point, and these guys sat or party of six at 7:30 on a Friday instantly. They served us a giant pitcher of frozen margaritas for only $16.99!! As if it couldn't get any better, our food was brought to us on steaming hot plates. Everyone of us were sharing bites of our entrees because we liked them so much. Great job!! We were very excited to find this place at a great price in overpriced "Cedar Point land". hey we might comeback tomorrow! If you are at Cedar Point and need to escape the park for good food come here! Highly recommend!

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sandusky. Service is always fast and friendly. The food always comes out hot and fast. It is not too expensive either. I choose this one over all other Mexican restaurants in the area.

Some of the best mexican food around. Very authentic. As long as you come atleast an hour or two before cedar point closes it's a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Some of the servers were new so I won't fault them to much on a few hiccups, like a forgotten water or food given to wrong people at the tables. Easy switch. Very happy with this place.

Great change of pace from the burgers and fries at the theme park. Colorful, cute place for the whole family. Fresh, authentic Mexican fare.

I guess this I just your typical Mexican place. Food was pretty good, however the service was lacking. There were nice and all, food was brought out quick but for whatever reason we had to wait and then ask for our check even after being asked if we were done.

Ambiance: You can see from the pics this place assaults the senses with its bright orange and pale green walls but its something I actually find charming about mexican restaurants. The place was a little noisy, filled with families with kids and young people with their margaritas. The service was a little slow/negligent, took us a while to get seated and we had to flag down people besides our waiter to get service because they weren't staffed to handle the dinner rush. Food: I had the Tacos Al Pastor. The dish was three double corn tortilla tacos filled with large chunks of tender beef cooked in a savory and mildly spicy sauce. It was served with a cup of beans and salsa fresca for garnishing. Something I noticed and that was echoed in my Dad's Carne Asada plate was that the meat was almost unnaturally homogenously tender. I suspect they add powdered tenderizer to their meat which is fine although certainly not gourmet. I'd rather have cheap artificially-tender meat than cheap dry leather. The beans were a little bland and not worth writing much about. The rice on the other hand I'm torn on because it had a great flavor with an appropriate taste of tomato and spices but it was overly steamed because it literally disintegrated in your mouth and turned into mush. Coming from San Diego, Casa Real is an OK mexican joint with a few quirks. They use beef when pastor is typically beef and they use enzymatic tenderizers for their meat but the end result is that the meals are edible and somewhat tasty. I wouldn't come here looking for anything mind-blowing or authentic but it works if you're jonsin' for some mexican.

Sandusky, OH's best Mexican, and open a little later than most places in the area. The food is really homey and delicious. Vegetarian options are really good. Margaritas are tasty, too. The service is pretty good. Friendly people who take the time to listen. Will certainly be back.

The place was very cute inside the atmosphere wasn't bad. We got stuck in the area from New Hampshire and it was right next to our hotel, so it was definitely a fair price for drinks. The only problem was we ordered two drinks that had fruit flies in them, unfortunately they came from the same bottle. The waitstaff was very nice as well as the owner he gave us a free shot to make up for it, but it also had flies in it... So obviously it wasn't the best.

Crap....again I wanted to give three stars. But..... The place seems decent enough. The margaritas were pretty darned good. But they were stuffed full of ice, which kinda honked me off because it was obvious they didn't have as much margarita in them as ice. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant skimps on the drinks. But, like I said (wrote), it seemed, decent. Then I saw the lipstick residue on the rim of the glass. I stopped drinking margarita after that... I had the Cheese enchiladas for dinner. I've had better. I would have forgiven them for a margarita glass with leftover lipstick (shit happens). But with all the ice, then less-than-stellar enchiladas...well.........I just couldn't pretend it was 3-star. The enchiladas had a bitter sauce, the cheese inside was COLD (not even melted or soft). They can do three things to improve and - I will say this - I'm willing to give it another try if I'm back in Sandusky this fall (even chances)... 1. Don't SKIMP on the drinks. Make it real, not a cup of ice with a pretend hint of a drink. 2. Maybe clean those margarita glasses just a bit more 3. HOT food, and double-check your enchilada sauce recipe - perhaps tweak it just a bit to reduce the bitter, bring a tomatilla/hot sauce essence a little more forward. Don't try to fancify them..just tweak it. I don't want artisan cheese enchiladas, just good, hot, down-home enchilada that mix well with a beer or with the margarita (unskimped, and in a clean glass). Do those things, you'll earn 3-4 stars from me. I'd like to like you more...maybe love you..,. but I won't pretend to see what's not there (yet).

This was a random find no doubt. The salsa was delicious...one of the best I've had at a Mexican joint. I ate a lot of chips just so I could eat more salsa. I got the wet burrito - it was quite good, I really like the seasoned beef and the enchilada sauce. The rice was also very tasty. I would have to say the margaritas were good but not great. The portions are not as big as what I am used to at similar Mexican restaurants, but not small by any means. One thing that bothered me is they have carpet and when a big group left they ran a vacuum cleaner after they left. It was noisy and a little strange for the middle of lunch time. Nice little quaint place though...the service was good too.

Love this place! In a sea of chain restaurants, we were so happy to find a local, delicious place to eat. I visit every time I go to Cedar Point. A trip just isn't the same without it. Tasty entrees, great variety, and fresh salsa. Servers are attentive, but never hover. Prices are very fair. Margarita pitchers are huge. And a rojo sauce with real flavor! Skip Chili's & head here.

Great food and fast service. We stopped in here after a day at Cedar Point for a quick meal. The chips and salsa were fresh and very good. My husband ordered a Mexican pizza and it was fantastic. I highly recommend.

Kind of your generic Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa on the table, ultra fast service, patio seating, quantity over quality Mexican food. I'm not saying it was bad, I ate my entire meal, but it's the same kind of thing you get at any ole place. The wait-staff was super nice. They did screw up my order (I got beef instead of veggitarian), but it happens. 4/5 yelps. Worth a visit.

We just had dinner here after spending the day at Cedar Point. Everything was delicious and the service was prompt and courteous. It was a much better place to eat than one of the junk food emporiums within the park. Definitely go!

I don't frequent this spot as often as other but only because of location. I live and work on the other side of town. But it's still one of my favorites. Their salsa has a smokiness to it that keeps you dipping to the point you feel terrible about yourself! And the Margaritas are as dangerous as any. Sit on the patio for a couple hours and you might have to cab it home. I have to say though that I especially love the coffee here. They put a dash of cinnamon in there and it's a complete transformation. If you're not feeling like getting boozy, go for the caffeine.

Good food, quick friendly service, and cute family friendly atmosphere! We were in Sandusky to visit Cedar Point, and we needed a good dinner after a long day of driving. Other reviews were spot on, and we really liked this place a lot!

A place like this makes me wish I hadn't filled up on chips and salsa when I got there, because the food was so good (not that the chips weren't, of course.) We came here after a very long day at Cedar Point, completely exhausted. Not expecting much, we went in because we were starved. man, were we wrong. I got the carne asada tacos - it was just little pieces of delicious steak on tortillas, with beans and hot sauce on the side. Since I'm not much of a lettuce person, this was perfect. I did order a side of shredded cheese though to add on, but that was so good. Friends got the combo fajitas, and they said their food was great, too. Makes me wish I didn't live in St. Louis, so I could go here more often.

I love Mexican food, and I had to try it in white bread America. It doesn't get more white bread than Sandusky, Ohio. Casa Real's main draw is its flourishing menu of dishes. Lunch specials start at $5! Margaritas at $3! Chips and salsa adorn your table as you sit in a homely atmosphere. This is clearly a family business, one with the parents cooking and the kids serving. I must admit that both times I was there, I had the carnitas. They were too delicious not to order again, even though the menu had other tempting options. Guac tastes a little store bought, but was still tasty. Lots of drinks options, and mixed drinks are stro-ong. In a town where all restaurants close at 8ish, they stayed open until 9pm. Dios mio! Bottom line: good, cheap, authentic Mexican eats and drinks. A bright spot in an otherwise dull city. By the way, you know that Tommy Boy wasn't even filmed here? It was filmed in Canada. CANADA!

Hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Its not a fancy place, has a bar. Its next to a hotel and from the outside, looks kind of shady. I ordered takeout of the wet burrito and nacho with cheese. I have to say, I was surprised with the burrito. It was really good, came with rice. I give this place 3.5 star. I'd have to try other things on the menu to rate higher, but I'm just visiting.

OK, so for starters I am hispanic myself and it just bothers me going to "authentic" Mexican resturaunts only to be disappointed by the quality of flavor and or service. I have to admit CASA REAL does a good job at creating their own little piece of Mexico, especially in ohio! It was an all around excellent experience especially with how expensive it can get at Cedar Point and anywhere else in Sandusky. I recommend the number 27 on the menu which i believe is the "taste of guadalajara" or even the big burritos they have, YUMM! Their salsa is amazing, its exactly how grandma makes it, its fabulous. The wait staff can wake up a little though, just make sure you have everything you need when its time to eat; forks, knives, napkins, drinks, and the amazing salsa! I recommend this resturaunt to anybody going to Cedar Point who want good food at a good price. 5 stars!

Came here because of the good reviews and were not disappointed! Really good flavor, we both had the wet burrito which was really good. The fried ice cream was okay, I've had better but it was still very tasty, a little heavy on the whipped cream. Overall very well priced, good food, definitely better than your average Mexican chain, would recommend!

After a long day at Cedar Point watching the masses of people waste their money on expensive garbage. We decided to drive 10 minutes across the causeway to eat off park property and get something delicious and priced right. I must thank all of the people who gave honest reviews of this place giving me enough confidence to make a visit. The chips and salsa was excellent as well as each combo dinner my friend and I ordered. , Great service, friendly staff and great prices. With 4 and a half stars I want to assure anyone else visiting and reading this to save their appetite and try this place out.

When i am on the road i love eating Mexican Food because it's good, delicious and a great deal overall!!! Casa Real fit the bill to a T (bueno, bonito y barato!!!) I ordered the fish tacos to go and I did not make it out of the parking lot without having some tacos, salsa, and chips. The service was great!!! The food was fingerlicking good!!! It was a great experience and I know where to go next time I am in the neighborhood...

If you eat anywhere else, and you love Mexican food, you are making a mistake! Our family of 4 with two young ones loved this place while visiting Sandusky. I was impressed by the margaritas, Queso fundito, as well as my entree. The salsa and chips were very good. We stuffed ourselves and left happy to have gone beyond the chain restaurant selections in the area. I will always come here when visiting Sandusky.

Went there with my wife and 3 kids (13 to 6 years old) after a long day at Cedar point. We're pretty particular about food, and were absolutely thrilled. Excellent salsa and chips, the drinks weren't watered down, great taste and portions, and the staff were smiles and attentive. I was planning on going back the next night if the rest of the family would have done mexican 2 nights in a row! Absolutely recommend it.

We decided to eat here after a long day at Cedar Point. Casa Real has an extensive menu (with several vegetarian options) of real Mexican food- not the American knock off fare you get at chain restaurants. The margaritas are nice and strong, there's happy hour deals, and the service is fantastic. Definitely eat here for dinner or lunch instead of the overpriced food at the park or the nasty chain restaurants down the road.

Gotta be the best place to eat in Sandusky. For the price of Perkins down the street, you get an excellent, fresh Mexican meal with very fast service. Granted the place wasn't busy on a Monday night, but our food made it to the table in about 5 minutes.

2nd best mexican food in sandusky next to my Mothers. Don't fill up on chips in salsa, you'll regret it. I highly recommend the Molcajete. It comes out sizzling hot. I always seem to get this as its my favorite. The rice is something to be questioned though... I never could understand why mexican restaurants could never seem to make spanish rice the right way.

Not bad at all for Midwest Mexican food. The service was great and the carnitas were good. The fancy big seafood dish was good too. Nice ambiente!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(5)Jim S.

I ordered a pitcher of regular margaritas...it came back as a strawberry marg. not good.
(1)Dave H.
Surprisingly good, and I'm from El Paso, Tx. Of course I wasn't expecting much for that same fact. Good prices too.
(4)Dan R.
I must concur with most of the reviews: this place is the real deal. Great food, awesome service, reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
(5)Jessica H.
Amazing food, great service, and for the kids coke in glass bottles. I would eat here again.
(5)Joshua H.
Their tortilla chips with the exceptionally tasty salsa was amazing! Had the deluxe quesadillas which was pretty normal.

Best place to eat in Sandusky. This will be our new place to eat whenever we are in Sandusky.

(5)Aaron Y.

(5)Jack M.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sandusky. Service is always fast and friendly. The food always comes out hot and fast. It is not too expensive either. I choose this one over all other Mexican restaurants in the area.
(5)Sam G.
(5)Melanie C.
Great change of pace from the burgers and fries at the theme park. Colorful, cute place for the whole family. Fresh, authentic Mexican fare.
(4)Corey K.

(4)Kelli F.
Awesome. We wanted mexican while staying at castaway bay and stumbled upon this place. Fantastic.
(5)Gabe G.

Tasty tex-mex near Cedar Point. Very nice prices and the food is good! Enjoy!

(4)Jill C.
Great food and fast service. We stopped in here after a day at Cedar Point for a quick meal. The chips and salsa were fresh and very good. My husband ordered a Mexican pizza and it was fantastic. I highly recommend.
(4)Alice Y.
(4)Brandice M.
We just had dinner here after spending the day at Cedar Point. Everything was delicious and the service was prompt and courteous. It was a much better place to eat than one of the junk food emporiums within the park. Definitely go!
(5)Tina W.
(4)Heidi H.
There are several local mexican restaurants that are quite similar. Free chips and salsa offered at each meal. Easy access to anyone driving on Rt. 250. Fantastic food and fun!
(5)Irene K.
Our friends love it and go there a lot so we tried it. The food was good. The atmosphere is fun and festive.
(4)Amy H.
Good food, quick friendly service, and cute family friendly atmosphere! We were in Sandusky to visit Cedar Point, and we needed a good dinner after a long day of driving. Other reviews were spot on, and we really liked this place a lot!
(4)Andie H.

CANADA!
(5)Stephen K.

5 stars!
(5)Elizabeth C.
Nothing special. More than one bowl of chips cost extra money. Servings were small. The food was okay but not great!
(2)Ashley R.
(5)Donald W.

(5)Drew L.
(5)John W.
Great place for some very good Mexican food. Excellent salsa as evidenced by fresh cilantro which is always a plus! We left happy.
(4)Tom W.
good authentic flavors. casual atmosphere. quality food cooked with care for a reasonable price. i will go back when i visit cedar point.
(4)Christie B.
(5)Craig M.
Gotta be the best place to eat in Sandusky. For the price of Perkins down the street, you get an excellent, fresh Mexican meal with very fast service. Granted the place wasn't busy on a Monday night, but our food made it to the table in about 5 minutes.
(5)Troy I.
(4)G E.
Not bad at all for Midwest Mexican food. The service was great and the carnitas were good. The fancy big seafood dish was good too. Nice ambiente!
