Despite my inherent suspicion of any restaurant/bar in the X.X.Name genre (M.R.Ducks, G.L.Hunters, etc.) ... this one is decent. Restaurant of sorts on one side, bar on the other, sports bar theme going on. One guy in our party had wings - they smelled great. Rumor has it other stuff is good, like the fried greens. This may be better than 3 stars, but most of our party didn't eat, so it's hard to tell. Just a few old friends together in town again, and BB Rooners served us well. The odd thing was that the place was fairly empty on a Saturday night. Just a few parties, and maybe half dozen people at the bar. On a holiday weekend. Not sure what was going on ...

Rooner's is the place I spent a lot of my Friday and Saturday nights growing up. Their appetizers are great. How hard is it to mess up fried food, though? I've never had a meal I was pleased with, and when I tried the buffet they advertised I was less than impressed. The service is hit and miss-- sometimes you get a nice girl or guy, but sometimes you get an overworked and upset server. There are better places to grab a bite in Salem and the surrounding area.

Twice not once....food was awful. Hey we both are great cooks...him being "the best" and we know what food should taste like. The fries were just like McDonald's but not even that good and cold....and they were NOT BUSY. The waitress never came out while we were on the deck to see if we needed anything in the half hour we were there. Not getting a "3rd Chance" for sure!!! Sorry, not really :(

Walking thru the door I was greeted by no one. I asked a nice lady for a table for 6. A man sitting at the bar turned around and pointing to a table that had reserved on it said "You can sit there". I asked if he was serious, he then rambled some nonsense. The waitress then took us to another table. Captain Ahole from the bar then decided to come over and started notifying us that "HE" was the owner and was apparently in the mood to piss in the corners to mark his territory. Won't go back, will bash his restaurant, and hope he chokes on his crappy food.

Rooners has always been a staple in Salem. And I've yet to figure out why. I don't find anything particularly appealing. They have a nice sized deck that looks out to a parking lot. The food and drinks are over priced. I've never had anything that makes me want to go back. I usually only end up there if a group of friends insists on going

I met a friend here for lunch, it's not one of my favorite places but it is conveniently located... So my expectations are pretty low going in.. Our server, I won't name names, discouraged my friend, who arrived first ,from sitting where she wanted instead tucking her into a small dead end corner booth. He brought her a drink, but no menus... She was early, I was a bit late so when I found her in the corner I walked right past our server.. I sat, waited 10 mins before my drink order was taken (still no menus) when I did get my drink I had to ask for menus... They no longer serve a lunch portion of anything except salad.. So an order of pasta with no meat cost me $11... Half way through eating our server dropped off the check stating "no rush".. Then proceeded to come back to our little corner no less than 8 times looking for payment... After about the fifth time we figured out he must be ready to leave.. After three more trips we hear "hey I'm done working do you think you could pay your bill?" Then he huffed and said that he coooould transfer it if needed.. We guessed that we were no longer going to have any service even the lousy bit so far.. I have worked in the service industry 25+ years and my friend is a restaurant general manager.. Way to go kid, you just lost a nice tip (we left 18%, usually much higher) and you also lost 2 customers.

I like the reuben but the bread cuts your mouth up pretty bad. The lunch buffet has a very nice spread. The service is ok, its hit or miss. Dont sit in a booth unless you want your butt and back to hurt. They have absolutly no padding at all. Its a huge wood booth with a straight back. The atmosphere is great, I like it alot. They also have a full bar which makes it nice. The locations is great downtown as well. It doubles great for bar hopping because it is around other bars. NEW UPDATE: I am dropping the stars. I ate there last night and it was a disaster. The waiter was clueless. I got spaghetti with a side of applesauce to go and a Cajun fish dinner to go. They forgot the applesauce, the spaghetti had a inch of sauce water in the bag and the "Cajun fish" had absolutly no flavor. I will not be back.

Stopped by on a Thursday night because the wife and I just didn't want to go home yet. We're going through a phase like that. It was pretty good. First, it's basically a pub. We sat on the outside deck. Nothing special to look at, but 3 months from now, we won't be able to sit outside. There's a bar outside. The drinks were good, interesting but limited mix on tap. The menu was standard pub. We only ordered the onion mound (a spiral sliced onion, battered and deep fried). It was good. Parking is dicey, on-street or a couple of public lots. It's not far and it's not like the lots fill up. I'd go back when in Salem again.

Lately this place has really gone downhill. Food is overpriced and sometimes portions are small. Only eat here if it's a last resort.

This is a very solid restaurant/bar and always a good choice. The food never disappoints, the service is always friendly, and there is a rather nice deck out back. Great bar to go to in the summer either for lunch, dinner or drinks. If you own a motorcycle this is best the area bar to stop at all bikes are welcomed and easily watched from the deck.
