A nice place to eat. We were invited to eat here with family. There were a total of 7 of us in our group. The interior is interesting; it's reminiscent of a lodge. The walls are decorated with pictures that remind me of the wild west. It's a comfortable atmosphere with the seating separated into little areas. To a certain extent, it reminded me of the lodge from Twin Peaks. My girlfriend ordered a salad and I went with the porterhouse and mashed potatos. Our drinks came promptly (though her drink was wrong...probably due to the waitress misunderstanding thanks to the noise level...not her fault). Once she realized it was wrong, she quickly corrected it. The waitress was very attentive throughout the entire course of the meal and was very polite and professional. It was a very busy night, so great job keeping up with us and her other tables. My girlfriend really enjoyed her salad, which was a far larger portion than expected. The steak was so large, it was brought on a separate plate from the mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked the way I asked and was good. I ended up finishing all of it and started in on one of the families. The mashed potatoes were good as well, it tasted as if they had some garlic in them, which was a nice touch. Overall, this is a very nice restaurant and worth a future visit. The only negative comments would be the noise levels (not sure that could be addressed) and the online coupon is very limited as to use. If there is an online couple, there should be far fewer limits on it.

I ate here this afternoon with my family. We went around lunchtime on a weekday so it was practically empty. The ambiance is really nice, and the restaurant is clean. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was very tasty.

7 WORDS: STEAK AND RIBS JOINT / COZY CABIN FEEL A WEEKDAY AFTERNOON AROUND HALLOWEEN We arrived late in the afternoon, just after lunch, so the seating was quick and so was the service. Our waitress was attentive, so we tipped appropriately at the end of the meal. To say the interior is cabin-like does it a disservice. The walls have the hewn-wood cabin feel, but they're clean and pleasant. The lighting, while yellow-to-sepia, is reminiscent of a cabin, but the space is carpeted and very comfy. I really love the atmosphere here, but it's far from trendy and you'll never find a hipster here - maybe their great aunt Mary... My steak, a medium rare Sirloin, came within the regular time frame and it was good. I don't usually order the Sirloin and prefer the tenderness of a NY Strip. Although this wasn't a super pleasant cut of meat - it's the meat's fault, not the cook nor the restaurants, so I cannot fault Hickory House for that. THe bill came to around 32.00, and I can definitely credit Hickory House for that. Although their steaks (this ws a dinner menu at our request) were just a little pricy, I've come here with friends just to have a "steak night out", so there's that. It's still not my favorite steak house on the East side, but it's definitely a place I like to come to once in a while. TIP: Come during the off-hours - because seating is a little cramped and the wait can become long.

This is a great locally own reynoldsburg spot! Me and my husband both love it we are regulars here. Which it would show if I didn't just DL Yelp! I've lived in reynoldsburg my whole life so I've ate here many many times and the service is always great! The food is always top notch! Most places mess up maybe once or twice due to changing in employment but they must know how to pick em or have the same ppl. We have NEVER EVER had a bad experience and will remain loyal customers!!

We sent kids to grandmas and went to dinner. We have driven by several time saying we need to try it so tonight we did! Being the night of 7/3 and "boom" happening downtown, it was pretty dead. Service was great. Ordered a drink and it was yummy something tropical with Malibu don't remember what it was. We both couldn't decide what to have so both got the porterhouse. We got our salads with great ranch dressing. I'm a ranch snob so it was really good. The server also brought warm French bread. We ordered an appetizer of onion straws. The server recommended the half order as it was large. Glad she did. It was huge! They were crispy and served with a house bbq sauce which later was great on the steak too. Our steaks came out right after we finished salads. They were hot and smelled delicious. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and my potato was perfect size. The flavor of the steak was smokey grilled and the right seasonings. It cut easily with a butter knife and melted in you mouth. We will definitely return to the Hickory House. I can understand why it's been around so long. Great job!

The service was a tad slow, but the food was worth returning for. I had the sirloin and rib combo. The steak was cooked to the right temperature and was a nice size. The ribs weren't the best I've had, but they were above average. My baked potato was smallish. They have Seventh Son American Strong Ale on draft which is a huge plus. Another plus is that they are open later hours than most other restaurants on the weekend which was also convenient for us. The price was a little more than mid level chain steakhouses, but the feel is a tad more upscale than those. You can have a conversation with your party without having to scream over loud music or a packed dining area.

I try not to frequent too many places in Reynoldsburg because of a certain ordinance that they have, but I digress. This is one place that I will go. The steaks are so tender and need no sauce (Heinz 57 or A1) that would just ruin the taste of a really good steak. The rest of my party had the ribs and they were fall off the bone good!!

Let's not get in over our heads: this isn't quite a Hyde Park. And yet it's got this sort of hometown charm and the food is definitely good- a dark, woody little place with good service and good food is all I ask for, and that's what I got at Hickory House. I started at the bar, waiting for our table- drinks were on my girlfriend's uncle, and any beer tastes better when it's free, eh? The bar service was perfectly acceptable, and it wasn't long before I had to take my second beer with me to our table. While I perused the steaks and almost ordered one, I couldn't resist the siren's call of ribs. I was neither disappointed nor amazed; they were good, as were the sides. Nothing to complain about there! Ever since my first- and sadly, only- visit here I've wanted to return to Hickory House, but I've never made it back out to Reynoldsburg to go again. I really need to- I often think back to the decent prices and the good food, and I think- alright, yeah!

Visiting this place brought back memories of how true stake houses used to be! Our waitress was very attentive but not overly attentive, she was a pup according to the rest of the waitstaff. Has been there for only 8 years. We ordered our meals and opted for the salad and blue cheese with the house dressing. It was either salad dressing without much flavor or the salad was taken out of bath of water and not stained enough. What gave it the flavor was the blue cheese on top that I requested. It was no time and the meal came out. The ribs were definitely delicious, fall off the bone and great flavor. Only complaint I would say is that I would of liked a side with this meal. It would of made it perfect with a baked or mashed potato. My wife's porterhouse steak was a good on the filet mignon side and just a bit overdone on the strip steak side. I do not feel like it gave me enough reason for a 5. I might try it a second time and could have a chance.

Horrible experience. First off we were seated at a very sticky table and greeted by a woman that smelled as if she had just smoked three cigarettes in a car with the windows up. Menu options are not that great. It's like well we have pulled pork, pulled pork & you guesses it pulled pork. The pulled pork is smothered in a disgusting homemade BBQ sauce that made my sandwich like the sloppy Joes from the school cafeteria. Although the salad I had was crisp and really the best tasting salad I've had from a restaurant. But this is a house of pulled pork not salad. Our server came to our table three maybe four times. She left my drink empty for most of my meal. We will not be going back to this place. If you are in the mood for BBQ go west down broad street and go to city BBQ.

In town visiting and the hotel clerk suggested here. We sat at the bar for a couple cocktails with Wendy and ordered the loaded chips, which they homemake and load with cheese and bacon. A 1/2 order could have fed a family of four, it was huge! Served with their BBQ sauce, it was delicious! We tried our best to finish it! Wendy told us she was leaving, but that it was going to be happy hour at 4 and my wine would be $2 off. Bonus! Then Falen came in to replace Wendy and she was just as awesome! I ordered off the happy hour menu. Had the grilled chicken breast over greens with the homemade balsamic vinaigrette. It was delicious! I mentioned to Falen (I apologize for not knowing how to spell it) that I liked my Cabernet cold and she just so happened to have a bottle in the fridge! Double bonus! Would highly recommend this place, at least sitting in the bar area. There did appear to be a lot of regulars there, as others have yelped about. My only negative comment was that my husband went up to the owner and asked if he was the owner and told him he had a nice place. I think the owner should have come up to us, seeing as he had never seen us before, and thanked us for coming in. Wendy and Falen were both very knowledgeable about the menu. Had a great time and will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Stopped in one night with my roommate some dinner and drinks! For starters, you can tell this place has been doing the same for a long time. It was an older crowd sitting at the bar, and although we came at 8:30 we were the only people eating in the dining room. (Crazy young people staying out late!) We had drinks, an appetizer and entrees. The ribs were fine, but overall, nothing really exciting going on here. Perhaps the best part was our server who really knew her stuff and helped talk us through the menu. I'd go back for the drinks, but at this price-point, I'd rather go somewhere with some more exciting menu options.

My family and I where out and about this weekend and decided to try hickory house for the first time. When we walked in it was about 4:00-415 ( not busy) there was my self , boyfriend, 10 yr old and my 9 month old. We where sat in the back in a corner ( I assume because we have a baby) We waited a good 10 min and no one spoke to us. I made eye contact with 2 waitresses still nothing! So we decided to go! we took our sweet time loading the baby up in hopes that someone would come by, still nothing! As soon as we get up and start to leave the waitress then comes over and says sorry no one told her we where there! Really! And then just tells us to have a good day! This is the worst customer service I have received in a really long time. You just lost a future customer hickory house!

Mine was good but not $25 good. I can get a better cut with no fat to trim at Texas Roudhouse for much less. My wife always orders steak well done so it always taste like a shoe, but her sirloin was fatty. I love the old school feel and like the new location. They just need to step it up a notch with better service or lower prices.

BBQ Fanatic. Own my own smoker, and have done competition, and this is not true BBQ. I dont know hows its prepared, but its not smoked. The sauce is just disgusting. Its a putrid cocktail of overly sweet BBQ sauce, and tons of liquid smoke. If you wipe away the sauce, it will reveal the tasteless gray meat. Bread was stale and my salad greens were brown on the edges, like it was made that morning or worse. Service was no better. Wait staff forgot things and were slow to our attention. The inside needs to be updated. All the interior is old and dirty. The food is also WAY over priced. One of the worst meals/dining experiences Ive ever had in C'Bus. There were only a few diners eating...this place is obviously on the way out. Go the extra mile to Smokey Bones, or even Logans Roadhouse for a MUCH better BBQ/steak meal.

This place is so overpriced. There's not a big selection and if you want any cut of steak it's over $25 and chicken and pork costs over $20. Even a slice of meatloaf is $20. The only fish is salmon and haddock, it doesn't say it's fresh caught and the haddock is breaded (but big slices). The salads are a good dinner size but it's wet greens & squishy tomato. The food I had was good but unimpressive and not worth the $20 and up price tags. The waitress I had was definitely off-putting and leaned towards rude and spent most of the time gossiping rudely about others.

just tried after not going for a long time. We sat in the bar and waited and waited to be served. I guess if you haven't been going there for 20 years you don't get waited on. I wanted to leave but others we were with wanted to stay. We just ended up getting some bar food. it was only fair, the cheesburger sliders are pretty decent but the "hickory chips" are just not very good and I love any kind of potato chip. The pork sliders were not great. Just not very impressive, at least in the bar. And not getting waited on or even acknowledged didn't help.

This is a follow up to the review I wrote on 3/12/12. I had expressed a concern that the management really was not concerned with customers. I arrived at this conclusion after the incident described. I have found this not to be the case. I was contacted by the owner and found him to be very concerned. He assured me that the way I was treated was not the norm and he was very sorry about the way the situation was handled. After talking with him I was impressed with his concern. I do plan on returning to give it another try. Anyplace can have a bad day and I assume that is what happened. As stated I will try again and I do appreciate being contacted by the owner.

This place does a good job with ribs. I prefer the Gahanna location (the food just is done better there) but this place is still good. The atmosphere and service are great, and the place has a local hang-out feel.

I lunched at Hickory House after it was recommended to me by a client. I wasn't really bowled over by the food nor the decor. The server was sweet. I had the pulled pork sandwich endorsed by my server. The pork was tender, the roll was soft, the sauce was sweet and tart. The fries were thick cut steak fries. The salad was their "signature" served with sweet and sour with onion dressing. The lettuce was the lightest part of iceberg so the nutritional value was probably nil. The dressing was good, it also had blue cheese and back bits (real ones). I ate the whole thing. I guess this would be a good choice if you are looking for a more local version of Outback or TGIFriday's.
