I think that a little more effort would make this place worthy of 3*. It's not difficult to make Irish / pub food good; it was a bit over cooked and led me to an overall impression that food wasn't that fresh. The menu perfect as I prefer a smaller menu, it has just the right options, and good ingredients. Beer and atmosphere very nice, service fine, overall average.

Tourist trap. Shoulda known better but we took the advice of a shop keeper. $12/person without the price of beers. Food was garbage. Had a party melt and I've had better at Denny's. Beer from the tap tasted horribly off too. Wife had fried fish and they don't even serve Lake Erie walleye or perch. Avoid it.

This was a great experience. Our server Elle was AWESOME. She was on top of everything and went out of her way to make this a great dining adventure. Thank you Elle! You're the best.

The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary from any other Irish Pub. The service was above average for a local pub. *The must try are the Bavarian pretzel sticks. The Hooley cheese blend that comes with them is spectacular!

Excellent food, decent service, fun music. Loved the onion rings and whitefish sandwich.

If i could give half stars I would give this 4 1/2. They were very quick for lunch we had out app out five minutes after order and our food wasnt far behind it (we ordered them at the same time and got our food before we finished our app). My reuben was delicious perfect amount of moisture and tangy-sweetness. The chips tasted fresh and were just done enough. My friends got fish n chips which they enjoyed, they come as full sides of fish (2) come wrapped in newspaper. The app was the irish nachos which were delicious the brisket was tender and there was the right amount of cheese. Would def come again

We were a table of 10 sat around 11am in a nearly empty restaurant. My main complaint about this place was the timing. Our service was increadibly slow. We all ordered mixed drinks which took at least 20 minutes to arrive. Overall our lunch took two hours and there was hardly anyone there. That said the food was good. We got multiple appetizers and burgers. Aside from getting chips when fries were requested once we finally got food we enjoyed it. A restaurant pet peeve of mine is when they nickel and dime you- $.25 for ranch is not a big deal but there was a lot of extra charges like this at Hooligan's.

Loved this place. Irish decor was so fun to look at and the food was amazing! my only complaint was the loud crowed sitting next to us. I for the Piggy melt. A cheese toastie with mac and cheese, pulled pork, and slaw. very good! freshest guinness I've had in a long time. poored perfectly.

I was here yesterday for the USA vs Belgium World Cup match. It seemed to be the place with the biggest TVs and I was not disappointed. I was happy with the beer selection and decided to come back today to try the food. The pretzel stick appetizer with cheese dip is a MUST. Also, my kids got the chicken fingers with chips.... The chips were so good I had to order a basket for myself. Very happy with the service on both occasions.

Had lunch with the family. They seemed to be thrown off a bit when we rolled up with a stroller, and they had a hard time trying to figure out where to put us. The kids liked their food (kids menu burger and chicken tenders), and my wife enjoyed her turkey club. Do not order the "nachos". It is nothing but a salad with potato skins. Just another restaurant, nothing special.

If you can overcome the embarrassment of ordering a sandwich called the, "Piggy Melt," then you'll be handsomely rewarded with a really flippin' good meal!! It's a sandwich with bbq pork, mac & cheese, and cole slaw. The Reuben is also tasty, but honestly, go for the Piggy Melt. Great Irish pub atmosphere and pretty typical island prices. If you're traveling in October, this is one of the few restaurants open in the later evening hours. I'll be dreaming of that Piggy Melt all winter....!

I wasn't really too impressed with this place.. came here expecting a big menu and lots to choose from, but it wasn't very choosy, and the food was beyond ridiculous.. I don't complain when I come to PIB to party and eat, but $12.50 - $14.00 for a HAMBURGER? As if! Service was super slow, waited ten minutes to be seated, and this was on a Sunday around 2:30 in the afternoon. Drinks are over priced; I'd rather drink at a bar than come here to pay $6.50 for a beer. See ya next time, Hooligans!

Cheese soup and pretzels with cheese dip. Sounds good to me. Both were very tasty and the Magners Cider is delicious. Our server was very friendly and funny. I knocked the sugar all over the floor and she was sweet about it and didn't make me feel bad. The porch is a nice place to sit, though there were a lot of bees buzzing around (this was October).

Very happy with our visit. Great food and drinks. They have bloody Mary's that come garnished with a grilled cheese sandwich! Server was super nice.

Kinda pub, kinda bar, kinda needs more dedication to the Celtic spirit! Most people are here to get their drink on and not looking for decor.

We ate at this eatery yesterday. What a disappointment! Unfortunately I didn't check the Yelp reviews prior to eating here. Almost all the other reviewers said tourist trap, and they're right. $12+ per person is outrageous! There was a sign out front saying "someone on yelp said this was the best Reuben they've ever had." I read all 20 reviews and nowhere did anyone say that. This was all after I trusted that sign an ordered the Reuben. What a mistake that was. I only could eat a little less than half the sandwich. I actually got physically ill from eating it. The waitress was nice but seemingly rushed. She offered to bring me something else. I decided to try a grilled cheese. How can you mess that up? Was I ever wrong. While better than the Reuben, I could only eat three bites as the previous plate was starting to overcome my stomach. The manager came to the table to see the problem, and how rude! I felt like I was being questioned by the police after robbing a bank! She said nobody has ever complained about the Reuben but after reading the reviews, I can't imagine that's true. Worst of all, she was planning on charging me for both meals! She eventually charged me only half price for the second meal. I would NEVER stop here if you have a brain and eyes and can spot another place. We ate at topsy turvy earlier in the day and that was delicious, but that's another review. Overall I highly recommend avoiding hooligans at all costs. Your wallet and stomach will thank you.

Nice Irish bar and restaurant. Stopped in for lunch on a busy Saturday . food and service were very good. The best place to sit is on the front deck if you can get a seat

Great place! Love the service and the food!

Very typical Irish pub with your regular ass pub fare. It reminded me of every other Irish pub that I've been to. Dark woods, a little bit of stained glass, the freshly puked-on by a leprechaun look. Service was pretty excellent considering our party of 12 loudmouthed drunkards. We even had car bombs with our meals. Our server was super friendly and sweet as pie. The reuben was pretty standard. I enjoyed it. I think I scarfed it down fairly quickly. I'd go again if I ever found myself stuck on PIB.

Awful service, ran by kids.

Typical pub far, Server was nice. One Vegan option portabello sandwich, gotta switch out the bread though. They def know how to pour there beer right!!

Typical Irish joint? Yes. A little on the pricey side? Yes, but a lot of places on the island are so it's not completely unexpected. The menu is a little odd but sometimes it's fun to delve into something new. And as it turns out, I quite enjoyed their signature drink...Jameson and ginger ale. I enjoyed them so much that I consumed three of them so maybe that's why our group found this place so delightful while we sat out on the patio in the pouring rain! The outdoor patio is covered and is great for people watching. The inside is that "wood look" that Irish places have going on and is kind of dark. But the restrooms are clean and the staff is friendly, though the service was a bit slow. The food was actually very good. Plus I got sweet potato fries with my portobello sandwich so that was like icing on the cake. My sister got the Irish Picnic Salad that looked amazing. It was overflowing with blueberries, seeds, nuts, peppadews, and a fantastic mango chardonnay dressing. My mom was just so-so on the fish and chips but it comes with four gigantic pieces of fish. My dad had the reuben and that was evidently very good as it was gone almost as soon as it arrived at the table. Not a bad place at all.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! Possibly the best Ruben i have had in my entire life. It is a bit pricey, but you are stuck on an island with a bunch of crap places to eat... We went on the advice of a friend and the 10 of us were very happy. Great for large groups and there is something for everyone on the menu. There is this very cool parlor room thing also for a private group . Highly recommend! Too bad its on an island and we cant go more often.

Came here with my and and her family while spending the day on the island. The two who got the reuben said it was really good. My wife got the shepherd's pie which is one of her favorite dishes and she couldn't stomach most of it. The lamb was clearly not fresh. I had the brisket bbq sandwich (had a weird name that I don't recall) that was just pretty good; the pretzel bread that it was served on made it much better. Be warned that the description makes it sound like a brisket sandwich rather than a BBQ semi-sloppy joe. I was surprised the meals came with potato chips as I was hoping the word "chips" was referring to the Irish word which, in America, is french fries. But they were actual American potato chips. The service was average.

4 in comparison to the other island joints. 3 in the real world. Guinness wings r our fav app.

If you can eat on the porch. Great food ... they have this cheese dip with bacon or something in it and it's amazing!! Also, they have Magners on draft which I have only found here and in NYC... obviously not a very common occurrence. I enjoyed this place.

Great "little" Irish Pub. Sit outside on the deck, as the inside tends to be loud and noisy. Wonderful food, super cold beers, and the service was helpful and polite. If this place was on the East Coast, I'd give it a 3. But as most people know, Put-In-Bay is very limited when it comes to selection, and this is one of the better ones.

I'm surprised to see that no one else has reviewed this. Probably because it's rather forgettable. The Fish Sandwich (9.95) was fast food sized (or smaller) and on a grocery store bun. It was cooked nicely, and tasted good, though. The fresh chips were really tasty, but it's not too hard to fry a potato, now is it? The Rueben ($12.00) was nothing spectacular... it was served on charming swirl rye bread.. but.. $12?!? Tourist trap prices, I must say. Our waitress was nice, and from what my family was told, it's one of the better places to eat on the island.. which really kinda scares me.. Considering the price, and the lackluster food, we probably would have been better off at Subway, or dining on the mainland.

I am normally not impressed with Irish pubs, because as in Ireland, the food is nothing special. Fortunately we discovered this gem when trying to find somewhere to watch The World Cup soccer match. They have loads of great beer and even flights if you want to sample some. The loaded nacho appetizer was fantastic! They use potatoes instead of traditional nacho chips and then load it with a brisket kind of beef, red peppers, lettuce and their special cheese. It is to die for and super filling, which is why we ended up just ordering the cheese plate instead of a meal. The cheese plate was presented really well. 4 kinds of cheese with various crackers, large group of tasty grapes, sweet walnuts, strawberries and a mustard dipping sauce. We loved it. We had several servers because we were there for hours and they were very attentive, as were the two managers who stopped by frequently. Give this place a chance!
