After reading several reviews, we thought to give Bootleggers a try. The location on the water is absolutely perfect! Unfortunately I can't say the same for the food and drinks. First, the menu items are way overpriced. I ordered the Priscilla's salad and for $15 I expected a large dinner sized salad but instead was served more of a lunch portion. We ordered the Miami Vices for drinks and they were not good, the texture of the blend was poor and the flavor was not good. We spend a lot of time up here and I believe there are much better options for you money. We mostly likely will not return again due to the menu price of average quality food and drink.

We came here to celebrate my father-in-law's retirement. We are from Chicago and use to some amazing restaurants. This restaurant kept up with our foodie expectations. My husband and I got the 30 day aged sirloin and free range chicken with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes. I love the quality meats and the great combo of ingredients. My mother-in-law got another chicken meal and my brother-in-law got the salmon. We all absolutely loved our dishes and the presentation was good too. Our server was kind and attentive. It's a nice view on the patio. Next time we are in town- I would most definitely come back!

Very excited to try this restaurant. We have a lakehouse in the area and have been trying to step out of our familiar routine restaurants. When we arrived we were pleased by the beautiful view. We wanted to sit by the water but we were told "We can't seat you at a 4 person table since you only have 2 in your party". We ended up at a 2 person table smashed against a window with our legs hanging out in the aisle. The restaurant was not busy which left empty 4 person tables along the water. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Both were ok....not worth the price however. Same was true for the dinner menu. While appreciated free range grain fed...this place is absolutely overpriced. We dine at some really great restaurants in Chicago that are not even this overpriced! I wish I could at least say the waitress was pleasant but that wasn't the case either. At least we had the semi-view. I hate to give a local restaurant such a bad review but with so many other options out there...they really need to step up their game!

This review isn't for the food, but more for the patio and beer. Both of which are summer staples for me. I was in town for a friend's wedding and a group of us met at Bootleggers for an afternoon refreshment by the Lake. The location is perfect for people and boat watching, and the service was friendly and fast. Our server kept the drinks coming and the smell of Lake Erie behind me pretty much eased any bit of tension I would have had. Not sure if I'll ever be back to Port Clinton, but if I do I'll definitely stop in for another visit!.

Overall great location and view. Way overpriced for the food quality---fried walleye-$24.95, you pay extra for dinner bread-$3.95. Food was acceptable but not for the price. Really to bad as we are staying at a rental in Port Clinton and there do not seem to be any good lakeside restaurants.

We saw this place just passing through, wasn't even on YELP. We gave it a try. Wife had fried shrimp with grilled zucchini and I had fried Walleye with garlic red potatoes. All of it was great. Service was great. We will return.

Out with some friends for some drinks and two appetizers. After we ate one appetizer our waiter finally came back to our table and I asked about other appetizer and he argued with me that I didn't tell him I wanted it. First and last time we will visit.

Our large group visited while in for a family reunion in Marblehead, mid September. My sister adores this place. Beautiful. On the water. There were other suggestions, but to her this was a place we couldn't miss. We now agree. We loved the walleye, the service and the cold beer. Although it was the end of the season (the following weekend they were closing for the fall) they made every effort to make our dinner the most memorable! Kudos to y'all. Even the people from Texas appreciated the attentiveness and excellent food!

This is my favorite restaurant in the area with a great patio along the dock giving a great view. The menu is very well rounded with a lot of interesting choices. The steak, clams, and sun dried tomato chicken were all wonderful. It was nice to see a small restaurant in the area serving free range chicken and aged, grass fed beef. The service was also great. The menu is a little pricey compared to other restaurants in the area, but i think its justified. I will definitely return when im back in Port Clinton.

Well, my friend and I stopped up here this past weekend and I was quite disappointed overall. We went in because it had shown decent reviews here on Yelp and it was by the water which was nice, considering daily all I see are tall buildings. However, our server, Gary, was less than charming and terribly not attentive. He was actually one of those people whom you could tell hated their job. I explained I was terribly hungover and I was just wanting a side of fries. He stated rather rudely they don't do "ala carte" orders. Seriously? I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't allow you just to order fries. Flabbergasted that I had to buy a $14 burger (which I didn't eat until almost 14 hrs later) just to get a side of fries was absurd. My friend's drinks were rather weak and we had to eventually ask another server to grab our waiter for us to get our checks (if that tells you how attentive he was). I think Gary needs to get a better attitude or they need to let him go. Your customers can sense when you're not happy with your job/life/what-have-you. Really what you're paying for is the water view. The burger was average - no seasoning or anything done to the meat. Honestly Wendy's burgers seem more flavorful sadly. Needless to say we won't be back.

We came here earlier in the week and had a wonderful dinner, left pleased and with full bellies. Having plans to be back later in the week with several other families for a fishing charter we made plans to come back with our group. We even spoke to out waitress, who assured us they could accommodate out large group of 19. Fast forward to today. We finish our fishing trip and head to the restaurant. I told the hostess our party had 19 and she said they could not accommodate us and turned away and refused to acknowledge I was still standing there. I walked away and spoke to the rest of our party who went up and told her our party didn't have to sit together (we are families of 4&5) . She made excuse after excuse as to why she could not seat us. We left disappointed and will not be back.

My family and I had a great lunch and the corn shrimp chowder is outstanding. The salmon deviled eggs were yummy as well. It was refreshing that they had a full menu to choose from given that we were there a few days before official season started (Memorial Day Weekend) and a lot of restaurants were either closed or had a greatly shortened menu. Great location on the water. Had some yummy local Catawba brews too. Would go there again.

My review for bootleggers is 5 stars because I loved the atmosphere & food. We sat on the patio but a storm came through & we had to move inside. I had some DELICIOUS clam chowder that was a perfect compliment to the weather. Also the Yellow Perch sandwich which was also quite good. I tried one of their frozen drinks, not the best ever but good. I would visit this place again but only in the Fall. My whole thing that ruined this trip & kinda region for me was returning home with an awful skin infection I believe is from Hogweed in Port Clinton or being in Lake Erie in the beach in Huron. I advise anybody traveling up here to be very cautious & not even get in that water right now!

I stop by Bootleggers a few times each boating season. Nice open air place on the waterfront. U've always ordered a perch sandwich and a draft. Today, I actually looked at the menu...wow. I never expected the elegant dishes. I ordered lamb chops with a mandarin orange / mint sauce. The sides were grilled zucchini and roasted fingerings. The chops were cooked exactly as ordered..med rare with the fat rendered and little crunchy. Being skeptical, I ordered the sauce on the side. Again, I was surprised at the perfect balance. I guess I'll need to visit more often...three pork chop dishes that sound great.

Visiting on business, and it was one of the spots on the GPS. Excellent food, great service (at the bar my usual since I dine alone) prices were a little high but it is a tourist place. My only complaint was the draft selection. Overall definitely recommend.
