I've been meaning to stop by this quaint bakery since it opened. Finally made it today! The shop occupies a small space in an old home on the main drag of downtown Pickerington. When you walk in, there's enough room for a small love seat, chair, and a small glass coffee table. Three people can fit sitting. Standing will get you about 3 people. More customers than that? You're gonna be crowded. A small warmer sits on the counter top. Four or five banana. Two strawberry. Two cream cheese Danish. At the other end of the counter sits a display window. A few different cupcakes; three chocolate mouse type pieces of cake. A few strawberry slices.Bottled drinks lined the lower shelve. Mei, the owner (she's from Malaysia), has large cookie jars between the two cases. On the wall, behind the counter, a drink menu and baked goods that are offered. I bought one of the Danish. There was a couple having a consultation for their wedding in May, so I took my Danish to go. I didn't get very far before I caved in and snuck a bite. Wow was it good! The phyllo dough was super moist. It flaked at a touch. The cream center was also incredible. A cheese cake-esqu taste, but a tad more sweet than the cake. Undertones of lemon. Mei's is well aware that Pickerington has very little local industry, let alone bakeries. That's why she started Bakerhouz On 8. I was happy when Mei explained that every Friday she gathers her non-sold items and gives it to the local food pantry in Pickerington. I admire people who take the step to participate in the community the best she can. I'll definitly, 100% for sure, be back!

We were celebrating our 44th anniversary, so I wanted to have a cake similar to one that we years earlier. I wanted to promote a local business so after reviewing the various bakeries I selected Bakerhous on 8. My wife pick the cake up and said the shop itself was "darling", and they had a good selection of goods. With that said we picked up some supper and headed home. Afterwards we had desert. Both of us were very disappointed. The center icing of our layer cake not only seemed different in looks, but taste. In fact my wife wouldn't finish hers. Of course I dove in. The following day I called to express our displeasure. I spoke with the owner and she explained that the cake needed to sit out for a few hours. Apparently they keep some items in a cooler. This cold made the butter cream icing, well butter-like. We tried the cake the following day and it was very good. In fact it was my type of cake. My only complaint is instructions should be provided if something affects the perceived quality of the product. My feeling is that this is a quality local bakery, and I'm anxious to try something else. Bottom line, this was unusual and the products are probably very good. This shop seems to be relatively new and is going through growing pains. They owner was very apologetic and offered to make sure we were satisfied. That in itself can go a long way. Check it out, I will.

Oh. My. Goodness. DIY Cinnamon Rolls...'nuff said. We just happened to walk by this place while strolling the newly discovered (to us) downtown old Pickerington. We thought we'd pop in just to see what they had to offer. In addition to a great selection of treats, the owner was completely adorable and so nice! It was hard trying to decide between cupcakes, fancy cake treats, cinnamon rolls, scones and cookies (including gluten free for those who need to know). The hubby got a buckeye cake (peanut butter cream cheese, ganache, chocolate mousse) and I got a cinnamon roll. The coolest part? You get to CUSTOMIZE your cinnamon roll! I'm not a cream cheese frosting person so I was relieved to see a little "topping bar" with pecans, shredded coconut, cream cheese frosting, traditional frosting and salted caramel! I asked if I could mix and she said go crazy. I put salted caramel in the middle and traditional frosting all over. Oh baby. SOOOO GOOD! I'm also sick of some downtown Cbus bakeries feeling like they can skimp on the cinnamon goo inside because they've already made a reputation for themselves. These were plentiful with cinnamon...after all, it is a *cinnamon* roll. She gave us a rewards card and we tried her pumpkin spice hot cocoa which was also amazing. The most expensive thing there was $2.50 which was the hubby's cake. For our 2 treats it was less than $5 which we easily pay for stuff downtown for one. When we sat down to eat on a bench a few doors down, the business owner came out and said "where's mine? Her stuff is SOOOO delicious!" The Bakerhouz 8 owner said all of the businesses have been very supportive and it looks like she's making a name for herself in town. We will definitely be making the drive out that way again for those DIY Cinnamon Rolls and I have a feeling the hubby's is gonna be a diabetes inducer!

Great cupcakes! Took a Friday afternoon trip to the bakery and it was awesome. Met the owner and she was very sweet. It was Good Friday so she ran out of a lot of items. We bought two cupcakes to go- salted caramel apple and red velvet cupcake with crushed nuts. They were perfect. Super moist and full of flavor. Not so sweet that you can't even eat a bite without being overloaded with sugar. I even ate all the icing on top because it was just the right amount and didn't feel like I was eating a stick of butter. Loved them. Each cupcake was $1.75. So reasonable for such great treats. Go support local business.
