I should have known by the fact that there were virtually no cars in their parking lot on a Sunday during the lunch hour that this place had issues. A place like this seems like one of those places that church types go to after a service, but no. When I came in, there was only one table occupied. Perhaps the congregations in Monroe opt for one of the chain restaurants down the road, and frankly, I don't blame them. I ordered the salmon burger. It had some grandiose name like "Great Alaskan Salmon Burger" or whatever, but it was quite a big name for a frozen salmon patty between a Kroger-brand bun with two packets of generic tartar sauce on the side. Also, the burger doesn't come with anything else. You can make it deluxe (tomato, lettuce, etc.) for an extra fee, and order fries (which I did) for an extra $3. The fries weren't too bad. At least they didn't taste like Ore-Ida. If you're in Monroe, settle for one of the chains instead.

First time here. We stopped in for breakfast. Good biscuits and gravy. I got the 2 egg omelet. They do have an 8 egg omelet on the menu. Giant pancake the size of the plate also on the menu. Dinner menu looks great. Going to have to come back for that.

We have only been to Silvia's for breakfast, but it is good. The waitresses have been super friendly. Their pancakes are huge! One is plenty. They serve their Goetta thin and crispy, which makes it great. My wife had the biscuits and gravy once and they were okay, but she grew up in the South and can be quite picky when it comes to biscuits and gravy or grits. The prices are very reasonable for breakfast. It was a hit with the whole family.

independently owned diner fare. burger was decent, fries were good, BLT had a generous amount of bacon. zero atmosphere and average service.

Home cooking with the largest portions you have ever had. One pancake could feed three people. Good food. Very friendly service.

Cold greasy hash browns, $2.50, cold breakfast that was sitting on someone else's table for 5 minutes, $5.00, one cup of coffee, server did not check to see if we got our food, didn't come for refills at all until we were finished eating, men's room filthy, place was not busy at all on a late Saturday morning. Large menu, probably most things are frozen. Goetta was not very flavorful. Very average, expected much better. Too bad.

We accidentally found this place. The food was mostly homemade. What was home made was amazingly delicious. Grilled shrimp...hubby said best he has had in 15 years. Pot roasted brisket and real mashed potatoes with a delicious gravy. I had greenbeens (canned) but I love plain canned greenbeans. Potato salad looked good but we did not try it. Tons of food for a fair price. Desserts looked like someone's mom had made them. Home made dinner bread. Try it and you will be really glad you did.

We have eaten there twice and had good food both times. The portions are plenty! When in Monroe, try Sylvia's for a hearty meal

A little known place if you are traveling but I'm letting you know ahead of time if you are traveling to stop in here .You will not be disappointed. Great menu and get this, they make their omelets with 8 eggs! Great dinner menu also with Catfish, salmon, oysters. Flounder, Prime Rib and Chicken Fried steak and more!

Slow and a little pricey. The severs and staff are very friendly though as well as the food is very good and large portions.

This business has closed permanently as of June 2015. Please note this somewhere so people do not waste their time finding it.

Friendly servers, good food, reasonably priced! All the ingredients for a good place to eat.

The food is good, although it's a little bit of quantity over quality. Decor is diner-ish.

Great home cook'n. This is the must eat place in Monroe. Highly recommend the Turkey Bacon Club w/ Potato Salad. Other recommendations are BLT, Fried Chicken w/ Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans. HUGE PORTIONS!

I always have a great experience whenever I come here. The portions are HUGE; almost everything is great and made from scratch. You can never go wrong with any of the daily specials and any of their breakfast specials. This is the only place in the area that I can get Goetta in a restaurant. I have to agree with others here that this is the place to eat in Monroe!
