Really good stuff, but nothing unforgettable. Pros: Tasty food served in a way that you can tell was carefully thought-out. Large wine list full of descriptors and recommendations. Not just 200 bottles listed by name/style alone. Very professional and tactful servers. Cons: Very small portions for the price. $24 for three scallops that were either not U10 or on the small end of U10 isn't the best. 90 minutes for two appetizers and two entrees. This is a place where I feel like I would always enjoy my experience but don't anticipate ever yearning for any specific feature of 20 Brix.

Went for my birthday. Great vibe to the restaurant. They have 7 pages of wine!!! The waitstaff seemed very knowledgable about pairings wines with food. They also do 2 oz and 4 oz pours so you can pair wine with each of your courses. So, I did just that. First, me and the hubby shared the crab cake appetizer. It was accompanied by Bok Choy and potatoes. I thought it was an odd mix. Reminded me of kimchi. The crab cake itself was very delicious!!! But, I am more of a creamy dill and lemon type of gal with my crab cake. The waitress suggested a 2 oz pour of a very buttery chardonay....ABSOLUTELY delicious together!! My sis got a pizza appetizer that was SUPER delicious with grapes, Gruyere cheese (I think) and other various yummy toppings...I highly recommend it! Tried my other sister's butternut squash soup....tasted like puréed baby food. Needed sage or maple or something to take the squash to the next level. Very one dimensional. Next, my entree was the scallops. Which unfortunately was over powered by ginger and also very under cooked (although I do like scallop sashimi...this was neither the time or place). I ordered the most popular Rose on the menu. Not the best choice either...lol... I could only taste the alcohol in the wine when paired together. The carb of choice felt very grainy and undercooked in my mouth as well. But, mostly the chef's inexperience with proper amounts of ginger def ruined it for me. Not sure if this was the best choice lol My husband had the shrimp and grits. It was yummy. I just wish the didn't use such small shrimp! For the price you pay of a high end meal, I'd rather be 4-5 extra large shrimp than 10 itty bitty things. Last, and DEF not least was my dessert. THIS WAS A WINNER! A delicious port wine and creme brûlée. Heaven I tell you, HEAVEN! I also tried someone's lemon berry cake which wAs also quite yummy. And someone else's chocolate dessert which was pretty good too. But NOTHING compares to the pairing I had. All in all I have it 3 stars because I felt better decisions could be made with their entrees and the although, the Asian infusion was an interesting idea for the crabs and scallop some flavors didn't work and the overpowering ginger seemed to show an inexperience with the ingredient. But that creme brûlée and port!!! Lol

Woah. We went here and got the "chef's" 5 course dinner and it was delicious from start to finish. Heres the rundown: Course 1: butternut squash and pepper soup. Very rich, thick and delicious. In a souper wooden bowl! Course 2: Hollys salad, romaine hearts, roasted grapes, pecans and blue cheese with a deicious dressing. Unreal Course 3: Crab cake and charcuterie to share... Again just so good its hrd to describe. Course 4: main course. I had chicken and waffles which i have NEVER ordered anywhere. And it was out of this world. Perfect mixture of sweet and savory, great breading on the moist tender chicken, and a rich yet still savory waffle. I wish i could have had 2 servings of it. Course 5: Creme brûlée, i was a little too full at this point. Pair these with any wine from their 20 page wine/beer list and youre gonna have a great night!!

I had lunch at 20 Brix and it was really comfortable and cute inside. The restaurant is warm and accomodating and has a great selection of wine. I tried one of their salads and it was mediocre. The soup of the day was delicious. I wish the bathrooms weren't on a different floor.

Another great dinner at 20 Brix. The Bacon wrapped apricots have become a favorite appetizer.
(5)Matthew B.
This place was great! The food was amazing and the service was stellar. Jeff was our waiter and provided great service. My water glass was never empty and he made a great recommendation for a wine to go with our dinner. I had the tuna which was cooked to perfection and a very simple yet complex flavor profile. My wife had the crab cakes which were very flavorful. It was for the most part a very nice atmosphere to dine and celebrate in, but I wish they had a closed of quiet part to the restaurant.
(4)Adam D.
Overall I was pretty impressed with what 20 Brix had to offer when I dinner there recently. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and their extensive drink menu. I shared The Brix Board which is assorted meats and cheeses and had the ever popular Shrimp and Grits which was delicious. They also use locally sourced ingredients which is always a plus in my book. So if you're in the Milford area I'd recommend a visit to 20 Brix.
(4)Heather K.
I am not a steak person, but I look forward to having more at 20 Brix, plus trying more wines!
(4)Lorinn W.
You've got to try their mushroom bruschetta with the egg on top. Wow!!! So, so good. Very fun place. Service was excellent. Fun trying wine on tap!!
(5)Rick V.
Been many times. Great food beverage value and top notch service. Try the grilled cheese. ..you will wish you ordered two. Oh..great wine selection and if you don't finish the wine they have a "doggy wine pouch" makes the wine not an open container thus ok to take home.

Early dinner, not crowded, Friday. Not much on the menu looked that good, we ordered crab cakes, very mediocre, my friends shrimp dinner was hardly edible, another friend had unrecognizable chicken! Our waiter was very good, but the prices were high for such poor food, would definitely not go back, we like our food fresh and recognizable, it did make my husband quite unsettled.

Great food. Love the tomato soup with grilled cheese and bacon for lunch. Location is nice as you can walk around after a meal and check out the antique shops. RRT is great if you love the outdoors - and they also carry Patagonia sportswear. Dinner is also great - but reservations are recommended. We have arrived to find out we could not get in some weekends.

Groupon had a deal here and it was great! $30 a person for a 5 course dinner.. You can't beat it. You start with a soup, move to choice of salad, choice of charcuterie board or crab cake, choice of entree, and choice of desert to share. We of course also had a few wine pairings suggested by the waitress and they were fabulous!! The star for me was the butternut squash and pepper soup.. It was popping with flavor! Everything else was very good, but was a bit disappointed in my entree. I ordered the shrimp and grits and the shrimp were very over cooked. The grits and andouille sausage made it better though! My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and ate every bite!! I tried them and was impressed with the prrfect sweet and savory balance! Yumm! Overall, I will be back to 20 Brix soon enough I am sure. I would love to try out the patio in warmer weather!

I was looking for a special spot to celebrate our 35th anniversary, and 20 Brix exceeded my expectations. Table service was excellent and the manager made a point to stop by several times. One of the most extensive wine lists I have seen and the staff was standing by with recommendations. Beautiful evening to set on their patio, couldn't have asked for a better night.
(4)Shon M.
Very disappointing. We were looking forword to trying 20 Brix. We will never be back. The beer list for domestic beer was nill, the only vegetarian option was awful and to top it off it took over an hour and a half to get our dinner.

A gem in Milford. Amazing wine selection. Super knowable servers. Best vegan dish I've had in the city.
(5)Sam L.
I went for lunch, and our waitress took 20 minutes to even take our order. Our food took forever to come out and mine was cold. The food may have been okay if it was heated properly, but it wasn't good at all. I also had a to go order that she forgot to place. I definitely won't be returning.

Overall a great place to try wines--definitely check out the "recommended" wines. I had three 3oz tastings of recommended wines, and I loved all of them. The 3oz wine tastings are a great idea--they aren't too expensive, so you can try many different wines. I also saw that they had Four Roses at the bar--what a tasty surprise! So the food--pretty great! Got the cheese plate and the salmon. Everything on the cheese plate was delicious: creamy, inviting cheeses (none were excessively sharp) and delicious spicy meats. The salmon was cooked perfectly--I'm not sure I am sold on the horseradish cream that topped it, but I was (and am) still intrigued by it. It did mix very well with the sweeter pepper sauce. Went with a group of 5 young ladies for a late dinner on a weeknight and the service was good--no complaints here. Go for the wines and the cheese board, and if you're feeling adventurous, try the salmon. This should actually be 4.5 stars: 1/2 star docked for entree price ($23 is normal for salmon, but is a little steep for me).
(4)Chris C.
My group of 15 had lunch reservations, and everything was set up for us when we arrived. Most of us had not been here before and we excited to try the food. From the comments that I could hear, the food was OK but no one was impressed. The service was OK, they were not busy at all, but the waitress did not even do herself a favor (to earn more in tips) by asking us if we wanted dessert - no dessert menu was given, nothing. Just brought the checks. So we walked over to Sugar and got some delicious cupcakes!

Had a business dinner here last night, and both the service and the food were EXCELLENT. I ordered red snapper that was cooked to perfection over a bed of wonderfulness (I can't remember everything that was in there, but it was GOOD!) The bacon wrapped sausage appetizer was also excellent. The guy next to me ordered lobster mac and cheese that had huge chunks of lobster in it, etc. This wasn't just food, it was pure tastiness. They even made brussel sprouts taste good (something I didn't think possible). If I am ever in this area again, I will DEFINITELY return! A gem of a find!

I have a client that brings me to Milford/Cincy every few months and I am used to seeing a lot of chain restaurants in the neighborhood, so 20 Brix was a great surprise! I made late-ish reservations (8pm) on a Tuesday and there was a decent amount of dinner diners, but as the night continued, it cleared out. We stayed a little bit after closing and the staff was VERY accommodating to us. Knowledgable staff that knew the menu and could recommend things for us to try and why we may or may not like a certain dish. Atmosphere was really nice. It's that perfect balance between a nicer establishment where you could get away with a date night, but not so upscale that you felt out of place in a nice pair of jeans. Great location on the main drag - definitely recommend trying 20 Brix when you're in Milford!

An inventive local & seasonally-focused menu, massive wine and beer lists including 3 wines direct from the barrel, and a warm and modern interior: yes folks, we have a winner! This was my pick for a recent date night dinner and from the moment we sat down and opened our menus, I was feeling pretty good about my choice. We started by sharing a flight of 3 oz pours of each of the 3 wines direct from the barrel: one from Burgundy, one from Argentina, and one from Kentucky (!), all reds. The Argentinian Cab Sav was my favorite and hubby actually loved the KY one. We also shared a order of the mushroom bruschetta as an appetizer. I like, not love, mushrooms, but this dish was incredible: a large square of bread topped with savory sauteed mushrooms, rich fontina cheese, creamy over-easy egg and topped with a handful of peppery arugula. For entrees, he settled on shrimp & grits and I chose the scallops. My sodium-loving husband called the shrimp & grits salty and they had a surprising amount of sauce which made it soupier than he preferred. My scallops were wonderful--2 large and 1 small scallops, seared on both sides and silky just-cooked-through inside. However, the side of red cabbage kraut was so overwhelmingly spiced that it overpowered the delicate scallop flavor. We also shared a "carrot buttercream lava cake" for dessert. I have to take issue with the name because it was in no-way a "lava cake"--it was instead a mini bundt carrot cake with buttercream icing in the middle. Tasty, but nothing lava about it, and fairly small for sharing. Our server was attentive and personable and service was well-paced. There's a free parking lot behind the restaurant. Menu changes 5-6 times a year to take advantage of seasonal ingredients. While there were a few less-than-flawless moments in our meal, there were enough delicious and perfect bites to definitely make it worth 4 stars and another visit.

This place is in my neighborhood and it's great! It adds SO much to Old Milford! Great spot with a huge wine selection. I have never eaten a meal here so I can't comment on the food (although I've head nothing but good things about the food) My husband and I often stop in while out running errands and have a glass or two of wine. The staff, general manager and owner are awesome! Everyone is always VERY nice and friendly. Glad to have them in our neighborhood!

I was on a date with my boyfriend. We were seated by a friendly host. We did not have to wait to be noticed or to be seated. Once we were seated I went to use the restroom (which is a bit of a trek because it's downstairs. Not a big deal but the point is, I was away from the table for longer than a normal trip to the bathroom). I was surprised to hear that no one had been to the table while I was gone. After I sat down the server came over to deliver waters. After a bit she came back to take our orders. She was curt and seemingly in a hurry. Not very friendly. I had to ask if there were any specials. She described the special which sounded okay but I would never have known about it hadn't asked. Our food arrived and it was underwhelming to put it nicely. The steak was bland and very tough. The crabcake was low quality with lots of breading. Neither of us liked our food. And to top it off we paid top dollar for it. The menu is way over priced for the quality of food we were served. The server completely ignored us, walking past us many times without checking on us. My boyfriend's water glass sat empty for almost the entire meal. I finally had to flag someone down to come and clear our plates. At that time, the server asked if my boyfriend wanted more water but the damage was already done. While we sat and sat and sat with plates in front of us, clearly finished eating, not only did the server walk past us and ignore us, but she also spent a great deal of time talking to what looked like a friend who had come in to see her. (Not a customer). Anyhow, the food was not good. The prices were high. It was a rip off. And the service was of the lowest quality. We will not be back. We still tipped 20% because we are nice people.

Just what we were looking for. Great wine list and plenty of beers to make it interesting. I had a self made flight of white wines which the friendly bartender was helpful with. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Started with the Brix platter appetizer. I had a great salad for my entree which they offered to add protein to, so I had salmon. Grilled perfectly with a glass of Pinot Grigio--I was a happy girl. We will be back for sure!

One of the city's best. The chef brews up unique offerings and sources locally as much as possible. Cincinnati's first wine/bar restaurant. Clay the sommelier will recommend a great wine every time, tailored to your preferences and the food.

Went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. We got a cheese plate to start which was really delicious. Since we both did not like chicken liver they substituted it with some proscuitto. For our main meal, my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles and I got the shrimp and grits. It was so salty I could barely enjoy the meal. His chicken and waffles were pretty delicious but also a bit salty. I was kind of disappointed but I would try the place again- maybe it was an off night.

20 Brix was amazing. We started with the Broccoli Cheddar soup. It was simply phenomenal. I never get the soup in a restaurant but this place may change my thinking about that. It had a intriguing spice combination but it was the garnish that made it. A fresh made broccoli salsa that added flavor and texture. It was possibly my favorite part of the meal. The salad the followed was almost as impressive. Holly's salad is a twist on the wedge with grilled grapes. They paired perfectly with the housemade blue dressing. The arugula salad was interesting but underwhelming next to this "wow" inspiring combination of flavors. The next course was the charcuterie plate. A velvety duck pate, cappacola, mortadella, figs, triple creme Brie, manchego, and finally a deliciously smoky blue. For the main course we selected the Steak Frites and the Waffle and Chicken. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare with a mouth watering crust. The waffle and chicken was done in an Indian spice pallet with a sweet potato waffle. We weren't fans but is was certainly an interesting take on the recipe. We finished the meal with a Flourless Chocolate cake. It was delicious and paired with some amazing late harvest wines. Our waitress was outstanding and guided us through this experience. She paired wines with every course and exposed us to some exciting new vintages. Overall a fantastic choice for a date night

Makes for a wonderful evening complimented with a very nice setting in the older part of town. Plentiful parking nearby. Seven full pages on the different wines they offer followed by two pages of beers. A well thought out menu that's like the wine and beer menus touching on a wide array of flavors. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the wine offerings. Service is quick yet you never feel rushed. They aim to please and they do well at their job... One of those places where you get the sense that you found one those perfect little secret spots.
(4)Ryan Z.
I've been here twice now... once for lunch and once for dinner. Both visits were enjoyable. The wine list is fun and inventive with reasonably priced, under the radar, wines that you won't find many other places. The food is good, although it seems like the menu doesn't change very often. It was 4 months between visits and the lunch offerings from my visit this week looked eerily similar to those on the dinner menu from earlier this year. Service was friendly, albeit a little slow on both visits. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, I have no hesitation recommending 20 Brix. Good and affordable food and drink in a comfortable setting!
(4)Ron C.
After trying the lunch and dinner menus, I can say 20 Brix has become a favorite. Chef attends to detail, whether serving familiar or inspired dishes. The wine and beer lists are more than ample for the menu selections. Al fresco seating during the current favorable summer weather has certainly increased the dining experience, but I would have enjoyed my meals even seated inside during last year's cold winter. Wait staff are more than friendly, they feel invested in the enterprise. Unpretentious and knowledgeable.

20 Brix is a solid date night choice in the Loveland/Milford area. The atmosphere is definitely upscale and romantic, but definitely not "stuffy". We have stopped in both for dinner and also just for drinks and appetizers (get the cheese plate- it is freaking awesome). Keep in mind this place is all about wine- so if you are in the mood for beer look elsewhere! They do not have a draft beer selection (they do have draft wine!), but they do have a limited selection in bottle (including some craft/imports). This is not a place that we frequent due to the cost (definitely more spendy than your average bar and grill type place), but that is not to say that it is not worth it - because the food and service definitely supports the prices. This is a great "special occasions" type of place, and also hit it up if they are having a special event- like the Summit Lake Wine Tasting event we went to recently, where they had a rep from the winery come out and to a wine pairing with a special menu created just for the event. The food is inspired and delicious, the service is professional and outstanding, and wine abounds. Make the trip out to Milford and check it out!

Had dinner with friends recently on Friday night at 20 Brix. Place was crowded- we had reservations. The atmosphere is nice and the location is great. Old Milford is adorable. Menu is limited, but the selections are great. Shrimp and grits is a favorite dish! Their wine selection is overwhelming. I gave 5 stars because everything, even down to the parking, made for a great experience. We'll be back! PS: they own Padrino down the street....it's amazing, too!

I decided to surprise my gf by taking her somewhere nicer than our normal Saturday night fare and made a reservation with 20 Brix. I'd been there twice before - several years ago had an appetizer and then once more about two years ago to dine on the patio and both experiences were fine. This trip was different. The waitress Lauren was pleasant and attentive. That was the high point of the evening. Neither of us are experts on wine so took our chances with a low/mid-priced pinot grigio ($34). Imagine my surprise that it featured a screw top rather than a cork. The vineyard flatbread was very nice and provided more than enough to be an appetizer and still take half home. I wish the soup and salad section of the menu had even one soup available but the winter menu offers no such item. On a cold winter night that is my preference but we settled on the flatbread to start. The shrimp & grits may or may not contain instant grits. The clumps of grits made it difficult to determine its origin but the dish itself was full of flavor with plenty of shrimp and sausage. The unfortunate part of the meal was the chicken and waffle - after having what is an excellent combination elsewhere in the city - the fried chicken was bone-in and cooked well past the point of being overdone. It wasn't just too crispy to eat but was dry as well. In short, 20 Brix provided a warm meal on a cold night but if I'm going to spend $110 (before tip) on a meal again, I'm not sure this is the place I'd do it. I think I'll stick to their appetizer menu on their patio in the future.

Went here with friends after a LONG hiatus due to having a new little one in the house. You COULD NOT have picked better weather for the evening. Almost reminded me of some of the open air places in the Willamette Valley. The wait staff was courteous and service was quick. I was impressed that they were pouring Four Roses Single Barrel behind the bar as you don't see that too often at bars anymore unless it is a bourbon themed bar. The wine selection was good, but I brought a bottle ($20 corking fee). We poured some for our waitress as well as it was a special bottle (Rule #1: if you bring a bottle to a place and don't offer it to the wait staff then you are a D-----). But you know, when you offer it to a member of the wait staff and they accept, I expect them to try it with us!!! She took it back to the back, which broke my heart as she likely poured it out...So, rule #2: If you accept said wine from table, taste it with us for crying out loud!! On to the meal. So I ordered the shrimp and grits and honestly...it was just OK. I tried to go off of the beaten path and it was a mistake. I should have just ordered the chicken and waffles. My wife's steak was also....just OK. Not enough sear and was a little "boiled". The apps we ordered were great (order the brussel sprouts). So we had a great time...but when I reflect on the meal itself, it was just average.

My wife and I went to 20 Brix for dinner with a couple of friends. The food was innovative and bordered experimental. The food was paired with equally outstanding wine. The combination of flavors and textures was really well put together. On top of that, the chef cooks from all local, organic sources. There was a mistake with my wine. The waitress gave me the correct wine and was then kind enough to ask if I wanted to keep the original glass of wine to enjoy on the house (I accepted - it was a port, so I had it with dessert). This speaks to their great customer service. We had a great time, and I highly recommend making the trip to Milford to eat here!

We stopped here for dinner last minute on a Friday night. We were lucky to get last minute reservations. We sat inside though others were dining outside. (I have a thing about bugs and dining outside.) For appetizers my husband ordered a delicious crab cake. We also split an arugula salad with a light lemon vinaigrette. Yummy! We ordered a carafe of the cabernet that was very good too. My daughter and I both ordered the market fish of the day, ahi tuna. They seared it on the outside and the inside was rare - just how we ordered it. They were able to accommodate my daughter's gluten-free request of not cooking the onions with flour. We were very happy! My husband ordered the strip steak and was equally pleased. To top it off we had the vanilla creme brûlée. Exceptional! The service was excellent- attentive without being overly so. Friendly yet professional :o) We have dined here once before. Both experiences were great!

My parents recently moved to Cincinnati so my father relied on my suggestion for a family dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. I had heard great things about 20 Brix so I thought it would be a great time to check it out. And I'll have to admit, I was a little disappointed. For starters, the restaurant is also paired with a wine shop and they claim the largest wine selection of any Cincinnati restaurant. I did like that they offered 2 different-sized pours - 2 oz and 5 oz - but was surprised by the steep price, especially for the 2 oz pours (why spend $6 on 2 oz when I can get a full glass of good wine at that price elsewhere!) We elected to get a bottle since we knew we all wanted wine. While the bottle prices are steep as well, they're not outrageous and we were able to find a decent wine. Unfortunately when the bottle was brought to us the wine was a bit too warm for my taste, which surprised me since typically red wine is served a little bit cooler than room temperature. On to the food, which was admittedly delicious. Our server started us with bread and butter, and I was immediately impressed that the butter was flavored with lime and ginger - a great touch! We ordered a cheese plate as an appetizer which left me unimpressed. I've tried many cheese plates around the city and this definitely wasn't one of the my favorites. Three of the four of us at dinner ordered a pizza as our dinner since that is what sounded the best. And once again none of us were overly impressed with the meal. Overall the food was good, just not as good as the price may suggest. And while I wouldn't be opposed to returning, I'm definitely not dying to go back.
(3)Kelsey H.
What a great "little" restaurant! My dishes were gluten-free and super tasty: the kale salad I ordered had duck confit, spiced peanuts, jicama?, blue cheese dressing. yum Yum YUM! I had the market fish which is prepared the same way regardless of the fish (onions, olives, yogurt dressing, a very greek style preparation) but I got the ahi tuna without the onions because they were prepared with flour :( They cooked the fish perfectly, and I'm not usually a huge fan of tuna! Moist and perfectly rare inside. NOTE: the restroom is down a floor, and you take an elevator. The elevator is located to the right if you walk in through the front... so don't wait until the last minute to go!! They also have a WONDERFUL outdoor seating area which overlooks the quaint downtown-ish area with all the charming shops.
(5)Rachit S.
Its actually 3.5. Great wine selection and desserts, but was not impressed by their food. Wife's dish was too salty (french onion risotto). My sweet potato waffle (i ordered chicken and waffle) was too dense and syrup was okay. Service is very prompt and knowledgeable. They have a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Definitely give it a try for its wine collection.
(3)Veronica K.
Went here on a triple date with friends, and at the recommendation of one we "pre-gamed" beforehand with some light food at home together. Good thing, too - the portions are really small. The food was OK, but for the money I'd honestly go elsewhere.

We like 20 Brix for the following: *Very good food, including seasonal chef's offerings *Inspired cuisine for sure *Extremely comfortable environment, really relaxed but very upscale atmosphere *Fantastic selection of wines *Wine bar (outstanding), seats about 10, always 20-30 open wines by the glass *Clay the GM: he's a vibrant and charming host and great ambassador for the restaurant. We met him at our table on Valentine's Day and spoke at length about the wine we had brought in ($15.00 corkage fee, not horrible, considering they have their own excellent wine shop off to the side, and the restaurant list is extensive) These people are serious and passionate, and it's in little old Milford Ohio. Great place if you can afford it. What we don't like about 20 Brix: A) Although great wines by the glass at the wine bar, no draft beer. Having said that, they have a good selection of microbrewery bottled beer plus the regulars so this is a minor issue and it's how they want to present their concept. B) Pricing is moderately to fairly expensive. It's quite easy to drop a C-note for 2 people without even trying; we've done it more than once. The value of 20 Brix, I have to say, is that it's a special restaurant for special occasions. It is definitely not a weekly watering hole unless you have a high level of self-discipline. Which is a shame, because we like it so damn much. If I wanted to own a special upscale restaurant, this would be a good one to pattern. Final Note: They do have a happy hour and there are both food and drink specials I believe. (Closed on Sundays)

This is a very nice and upscale restaurant in downtown Milford. The food is excellent and they have a full bar. Prices are a little on the high side for dinner. Lunch is a little more casual and not as crowded as dinner. There is outdoor seating and there are a few bars within walking distance.
(4)Hilary C.
Great atmosphere and great food. The wine list is endless and a little overwhelming but the waitress helped us pick a great bottle. The service was great
(5)Adolfo N.
Excellent spot for a date, or a special occasion. Top notch service and wine selection. The beer selection was solid, albeit not as robust as I would have liked it. We went for a birthday, and so we had a wide variety of dishes to share. Now, the waiter recommended the seasonal dishes, and we did not take him up on the offer, we stuck to the flatbreads, and appetizers, and while everything was good, nothing blew me away. Flatbreads, pozole, and chicken and waffles, it's really just fancy comfort food. 5 star experience, 3 star food, 4 star booze, divide by 3 and BAM, I'm a fan.

Attended a wine dinner on a Tuesday night last week. First of all we love the winery Summit Lake. The food pairings with the wines were incredible. It was great that the chef came out and described each one. The roasted sweet potato soup that we started with was delicious and I am not a sweet potato fan. Each course was delicious, but I won't do them justice by attempting to describe there here. I thought the $65/person price was reasonable for the food and wine. 20 Brix is doing it right in downtown Milford.

Great wine list. Good service with wine savvy servers. Good location with a great atmosphere.

My husband and I were there to celebrate New Year's Eve. We had wonderful service from start to finish. The ambiance was nice - cozy, casual, and quiet so we could have a nice conversation at our private booth. We were greeted by the general manager who brought us glasses of champagne upon our arrival - what a nice touch! The food was delicious (4 stars, however because the food did not come out as hot as I would have like Our server was great - he was attentive but not overbearing like some servers can be. We had a fantastic evening to help kick off the start to the new year. It was our first time there and we will certainly be back!

Food was excellent. Not your typical dishes, innovative. Great unusual desserts. Love the ambiance.

Our party of 6 had a wonderful experience at 20 Brix. Very accommodating waiter. Everyone raved about the meal they each selected--especially the celery root/apple soup. Appetizers were interesting and I personally loved the wine I ordered ( Crisp, prickly Riesling) Perfect top off to meal was their dessert menu. We traveled a good 40 minutes to reach Milford, but we'll be back!

Fun fact from the 20 Brix website: "Developed by the German chemist Adolf Brix, the Brix scale is the measure of sugar in a liquid. Winemakers look for a certain level of Brix before harvesting grapes. For example, if grapes were picked at 20 degrees brix they consist of 20% sugar." I'm so glad Brix wasn't some weird trendy way for spelling Bricks, not that that would have made any sense whatsoever. Now, on to the actual review. 20 Brix is a lovely restaurant in the heart of downtown Milford, which incidentally is adorably full of little boutique shops that I am putting on my list of places to peruse. It has the look and feel of most contemporary American restaurants, and makes for a cozy dinner. I enjoyed the old Hitchcock movie playing with subtitles on the television over a chalkboard announcing the movie title! Just a cute little touch. I love that they have some wines on tap- eco-friendly and still delicious. There's a nice long wine list, with glasses starting at around $7. The bread was tasty and the menu was interesting. The fried chicken that I ordered was delicious- served on a wild rice waffle with a spicy syrup, flavorful greens, and just a bit of gravy. The husband really liked his generously-size lobster roll. Even though I had no room for it, I ordered the creme brulee, which was surprisingly light (for creme brulee), and adorably served in a dish on a little wooden board with two pools of blueberry sauce on it. Warning, it's more expensive than you would expect, but it's also about the size of 2-3 regular sized desserts so you might want to share. Great date night or girls night place, though it's on the pricier end (most entrees are over $20).

This place is GOOD! Living in Vegas, I have tasted some AWESOME cuisine. My mouth has tasted some $2 meals as well as $2000 meals and I must say is was equally comparable to some of the better meals I have had. The cheese tasted fresh and it was served at the correct temperature. I found my Turkey Grillini Tasty, the sauce almost curry-like. Only downfall? I wasnt offered dessert... Maybe they don't have any?

I've been to 20 Brix a couple of times and have thought the same thing. Overpriced, not necessarily great food. Nothing stood out besides their wine selection. When I went this past Monday service was good, but the food was ehhh at best. I ordered the burger with fries and my friend got a steak entree. The burger was decent, but definitely under the meadium well that I asked for. The fries were not fresh at all on either of our plates. I was so confused on why this food cost $15 when I could have gotten a far superior burger and WARM fries at any five guys or smash burger for half the price. I didn't taste my friends steak, but she had to work a lot to cut it, and it was a really thin steak. We shared the creme brulee for dessert and it was alright at best. The creme brulee at Applebees last week was far better. It seems like the restaurant quality keeps getting worse every time that I go. After this time I won't be returning. Too many other good options on Old Milford anyways!

20 Brix is a great little surprise. It doesn't get a lot of credit being tucked away all the way out in Milford but I am not kidding I would gladly make the trek back up there to dine here again. I went for lunch and ordered the Grilled chicken ceaser flatbread wrap and it was delish! The cibatta flatbread was very unique. I had never had that before and I love to see creative fresh food. The wrap was not overdressed. The chicken was seared and very juicy on the inside. It also had a great big slice of very ripe tomato on it which pulled it all together. Very summery and refreshing on a hot day. I cannot wait to go back and try this outstanding wine I have been hearing so much about! P.S. The staff was very attentive yet didn't get in the way of our meeting which was excellent!

We live in Miami Township, so, supporting local businesses is important to us, so, we have been fairly regular customers, but recently made the decision to no longer give them our business. Admittedly, there are times when everything isn't perfect, but, for the most part, management has responded well. However, the single constant, unfortunately is not a good one. The servers, not all, but quite a few, , are not attentive, and at times rude. Initially, we thought it might be limited to a specific server, but our experience is, "rude" is the norm, not the exception. Given they work for tips, I find this to be very strange. Don't take this as a snobby statement, but they really should consider that they are the servers and NOT the one paying the bill (and it's not difficult to hit $150 for two). Wake up 20 Brix management!! You may have an amazing atmosphere, but those rude servers will eventually catch up to your bottom line. A note of interest: the owners of 20 Brix also own Padrino...fairly good food, but for the most part, pleasant servers.

Milford is not the most exciting place in the world, buuuuuutttt it is home to an awesome restaurant/bar. My wife and I have recently dined here twice. The chicken and waffles are absolutely amazing. They have a seasonal menu, but they keep a few things on all the time. This is one of the everyday items. The last time we visited, the chef prepared an awesome kale salad. My wife had the ceviche and it was really good. The wine prices are decent and the bar is neat. The service has been excellent on both visits. I really like this place.

Let me just start by saying this place is amazing. From the food, to the wine, the service, the ambiance, and just everything about this place is a hit! Really a great concept and the execution was phenomenal. I came to dinner on Monday with a few co workers. We were all very excited to eat here, but really didn't know what to expect. The waitress came over and alerted us that Monday was "retail wine night" where they sell bottles of wine for retail. What a great deal! We started the night off with Qupe Roussanne, a nice dry white wine. We ordered a few appetizers including the squash soup (great presentation and very tasty); Mushroom Bruschetta (on a toasted slice of baguette with roasted mushrooms, an egg, fontina, and arugula...so delicious it was gone in seconds; the lamb meatballs WOW (the meatballs were extremely flavorful and tender, served in a small crock with romesco, leeks, and manchego); frencho onion risotto (very rich and creamy, cooked well). The meatballs were my personal favorite and also a favorite for the table. We got a bottle of Summit Lake Howell Mountain Zin for dinner (very bold, peppery and strong). We shared the crab mac and cheese gratin (very rich, the crab was everywhere and it was delicous...this was very well done). We also ordered several entrees including the 20 brix burger (a massive burger with ground prime filet and braised short rib); the sliced duck breast (exceptional flavor in the dish served with goat cheese, apricot, and parsnip chips for a sweet, savory crunch!); the scallops with baby bok choy (the scallops were seared perfectly and not overcooked); the roasted salmon (served with a sweet sauce, red and green grapes, and sauteed spinach); I ordered the shrimp and grits (extremely rich with chorizo, poblano, and crema corn pudding...the flavors maried very well, but the dish was too rich to eat by myself). The waitress brought the chef over to our table and he thanked us for dining at his restaurant. We complimented all of his dishes and he mentioned some of the new dishes they'll add to a new menu coming out in a few days. We finished the meal off with a few glasses of Tawny and ruby port as well as the creme brulee and the chocolate chip cookie. This was a great experience and one of the better dining experiences I have had in a quite a while. I'll come back here every single time I'm in the Cincinnati area. What a great place...keep it up!
(5)Sandra F.
Came here twice and both times, great experience! Excellent dinner and wine selections! I got the salmon and love the quality, very delicious! It's really nice that both the manager and chef greets you at the table and asks if you enjoyed your meal.

20 Brix is outstanding in every respect: ambiance, service, decor and of course FOOD. Had one of the best steaks ever here, Ohio-raised, grass fed. The kitchen has a philosophy that guides their approach to the menu, and it clearly shows. Fantastic wine list ( I enjoyed the Drouhin) and highly recommended.

Hey, look at me, everybody! I finally made it out to 20 Brix! I appreciate places like 20 Brix. Seasonal ingredients, many wines by the glass, adorable area of town, homemade bread, a great menu, really unique and delicious sounding specials... There were a few things I didn't appreciate so much. Our two-top was way tiny and I kept kicking my husband throughout the meal and trying to juggle glasses and plates. The service was quite slow - a caveat that I'm more likely to put up with for really great, freshly prepared food. The starters were generously sized and I actually had two of those as my meal (you can totally skip the fritto misto though, it wasn't too impressive). The rest of the items we tried were on point. I delighted in Spring ingredients such as foraged mushrooms, pea tendrils, asparagus and spring peas. Nonetheless, 20 Brix is a place I would whole-heartedly recommend. There are even plenty of vegetarian/pescetarian options.
(4)Dinah S.
Service was very bad. I asked if the crab cakes were lump or shredded and was told " lump" and they came shredded. You get nothing with the entree but a succotash and the peas were over cooked . We never received any bread even though bread plates were part of the setting . We never saw our server after the order was placed . We actually wanted coffee and desserts but those were never offered . We kept looking around for someone to bring the bill and a nice gentleman (perhaps the host. ) brought it . Good selections of wine but would not recommend for dining out . Disappointing experience .

We fancied a late wine soaked lunch and 20 Brix was simply ideal. Located in downtown Milford 20 Brix offers a quiet escape after a day of boring Saturday errands around the east side of Cincinnati. There are several things I find appealing about 20 Brix. *unique and wide ranging wine list *knowledgeable servers *a menu that is more than crab cakes , chicken caesar salad, and creme brulee (they do have those items / but they have much more) To start ,we each chose a glass of wine * Pinot Noir : Stoller Vineyards, Dundee Hills Oregon (Rob Choice) *Kerper Riesling Spatlese, Mosel Germany 2009 (My Choice) to share with a generous plate of fruits / nut/ and cheeses. I would tell you what we thought of the wine, flavors and hints of such and such, but we are not going there. We loved the wine and each ending up having 2 glasses of our selections. I ordered a German. (black forest Ham on marbled rye pretzel) it was good . I ate half and took the rest home. Rob had a pork wrap and ate every bite. We were forced to order dessert so I could try something I had never seen on any menu. *Day Old Donut??? Wow !!! Here is how they did it: Two glazed donuts pressed in a panini maker dressed with raspberry sauce and confectioners sugar. It was like eating a warm crisp donut flavored pancake dipped in raspberry. My only complaint was.......MORE RASPBERRY SAUCE PLEASE!!! In conclusion: wine, donuts, and cheese plate will always receive a big YES from me. Try it .

I have been wanting to go to 20 Brix for some time and finally made it for dinner last night. We went with a large party to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I was a bit concerned because we had several children with us, but they were very accommodating and it was not a problem. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to eat here. It was fantastic. The place is beautiful ... service unbelievable ... and the food, well, I grew up in Milford and the fact that there is a place of this calibre in my hometown astounds me. All of the food was delicious, beautiful, unique, and impressive. I had dreams last night about the mushroom bruschetta. I had the crab and dumplings, which was delicious, and the fabulous kale salad. Chef Paul is definitely a master at his craft. I would recommend this very highly and can't wait to go back.

20 Brix never disappoints for us. We went this past Saturday, and we planned to arrive at 5:00 pm (we were going before a concert, so we had to go early). Therefore, I didn't make reservations because I thought, "5:00 on a Saturday? Should be empty!" But no, they were fully booked. Luckily, the kind gentleman at the entrance pointed us toward the bar, which was nearly vacant, and said we could do a full dinner there. Sold! We didn't partake in wine that evening, mostly because we still had to go to a concert and didn't want that sleepy wine effect to kick in! But the cocktails were great, and the service from the bartender was even better. She knew the menu well, gave us suggestions, and was spot on with everything. We had the fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, scallops, and a swordfish special. Everything was excellent, we were all sampling each others meals and there wasn't anything I tried that I didn't enjoy. My shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious. I started with a salad that had a jalapeno honey mustard dressing, and it was very good. I wished the dressing had more kick, but overall, it was very well-rounded and very good. My husband had the fried chicken and waffles, which are just ridiculous. It's served with a dipping sauce that is like a spicy maple syrup... Mmmmmm.... awesome. I hate to admit it, but he also ordered the appetizer that is essentially a slab of bacon, served with polenta, caramelized onions, and some kind of tomato-jam like stuff, and it was out of this world. Luckily he shared that with all of us so he didn't have a heart attack on the spot. We love 20 Brix, but our meal seemed lacking because we didn't have the wine. Their wine list is awesome, with build-your-own flights and a great selection. We'll be back very soon to have a more leisurely dinner with wine and dessert, in this case we wanted to be upright for the concert so we skipped both of those!

Very nice place for dinner. Great wine selection and friendly bar service. However, I had the short ribs salad. It was absolutely inedible. The meat was not braised as it should be. Short ribs are a cheap cut of meat and is tough if not cooked long and slow. I think they grilled them. I could barely cut through the meat. I won't be back. Jeeze didn't they taste them before they put them on the menu? Very disappointing.
(2)Phoebe G.
Great food and great service! The suggestions for wine pairings were wonderful and I strongly suggest doing a flight of wine. Our server knew her stuff. The food was delicious - they have a wonderful lobster mac and cheese. The only problem was you had to walk forever to get to the bathrooms...down the hall, on the elevator to another floor, then down another long hall. Great fun though!
(4)Alex S.
Ah, 20 brix, a place I thought I would never get to. It's kind of become a running joke with my girlfriend, because I've heard such wonderful things about it, and we're always game for going - but then it's just so far away. We'd always be like, "You want to? ... Ugh, not today." Damn you Milford, why can't you be closer! However, we were finally going to visit a friend up that way and had some time to kill - and so, I finally got to try 20 brix ... sort of. We didn't really have enough time for a meal, but a glass of wine sounded wonderful. We walked into the mood-lit establishment, which I could easily see why it's a great date spot. Lots of two person tables with people close together. It's clearly a nice romantic restaurant. We sat at the bar and were greeted with smiles from the woman behind it. She handed us drink menus and I was impressed. There were pages and pages of wines, all by type, with nice descriptions and even selections they thought you should try. Very nice. I sat there quite happily with my wine and my gal. The one thing that freaked me out was the bathrooms, which were in the basement, and to get there, I took a crazy elevator with wooden panels that looked like it was a room in a library. When those doors slid open, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to enter or throw my overdue books in and run. I glanced at a food menu and everything looked a little too over-priced, but I can't really make that claim until I come back for food ... which I will, whenever I make it back to Milford ... I swear, it will happen! ... ok, maybe I won't.

My favorite Wine Bar in Cinci has been featured in Wine Spectator & on the Food Network. Sit inside or out on the walks of Historic Old Milford. The staff has excellent knowledge to guide you through the impressive selections, whether you want a glass, a flight or a bottle. The modest wine store affords a selection of vintages that ordinary consumers cannot normally purchase. They won't let you be disappointed. If you are lucky enough to be there when Hunter (Owner) or Clay(Sommelier) are there, you are in for a rare treat! Although, there isn't an official Cicerone, Court has an excellent seasonal selection of beers that pairs well with the menu. Executive Chef Paul Barraco, who is home grown, works impressively with the continuously changing wine varietals. The food is paired with the wine, not the other way around. Wine 5 stars / Food 3.5 Stars

We chose this place for our 20th anniversary. Although the service was top notch, and the beer selection was good, I did not enjoy my meal. It was a risotto that was so hot that twice I burned my tongue on it. I had to sit there and stir it for 10 minutes before I was able to resume attempts to eat. On the other side of the coin, my husband truly enjoyed his meal. But I probably won't go back.

My friends and I are on a mission to find the best burger in Cincinnati. We try a different location every month, but I was so jealous to miss their amazing experience at 20 Brix. All of them considered the burger to be a close second to "Terry's Turf Club", but they were really blown away by the hospitality of the owner. At the nearest opportunity for a date night (the evening after Valentines Day), my wife and I hopped in the car and made the long trek to Milford from NCH. I wish the location were closer, but that's my own fault for living in Siberia. It's a nice little corner restaurant across the street from Sugar Cupcakery. The only odd thing about the layout is that you have to take an elevator to the bathroom, otherwise the ambiance is relaxing and peaceful. We started with the squash soup, which was so good that my wife asked for the recipe. Two kinds of squash, pomegranate seeds, pepitas, fish sauce, thai spices, honey. It was delightfully smooth and balanced. We decided to have beer and wine as both menu options were brimming with diversity and quality. My beer was the 21st Amendment, which was a special seasonal with 8.5% alcohol. Our bottle of wine was a Spanish blend called Autor. It wasn't as bold as I like, but it was pretty good. I ordered my burger medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat quality was moist and flavorful with high quality beef and steak in the patty. It had a nice sauce and a fresh bun, and in my opinion, it was better than any burger I've had in Cincinnati, even better than Terry's Turf Club. My wife went out on a limb and ordered fried chicken and waffles. While the chicken was meaty and flavorful, she wasn't fond of the sweetness of the waffle. We were happy with the service and were pleasantly surprised to receive a visit from the chef. We'll be sure to come back when we have money for another date night. Highly recommended!

Made reservations without knowing a street fair was happening in Milford. The community was buzzing with family fun for all. We sat on the patio on a beautiful late summer evening. The service was prompt and attentive from the start. Our dinners were excellent. We ordered the fish special and it was perfectly prepared. Our other dish was the burger which exceeded expectations. We would definitely return to this little town charmer.
(5)Jeffrey D.
Terrific. I had the trout and it was to die for. Was fabulous. Could not believe the wine list. Largest wine list ever seen. Wish I had a designated driver. Atmosphere in downtown Milford is charming and nice. Enjoy the place.

Incredible dinner with our amazing server Cambry. She was very knowledgable about the wines and pairings. We went for our anniversary, which was made even better with a complimentary chocolate dessert and Orin Swift wine! I enjoyed that they have 2 oz wine so you can sample their wide selection of wines. Try the cheese plate. It was delicious. Unrushed and relaxing evening.

I finally made to this place tonight after having wanted to go for a 1 year. My experience was one of the best I have had in Cincinnati. I enjoyed the driving on 50 West passing Mariemont and Terrace Park and beautiful town on Milford. I just love the surroundings of this place. For the food our party loved everything from the wine the server recommended to the dessert. We shared everything - the farm lettuce salad, french onion risotto, crab cake, kobe short rib, and duck breast. Everything seasoned perfectly and cooked well. I thought the sauce on the short rib was little overwhelming but I was fine with it. Every ingridient tasted fresh. The server was friendly enough and helpful. I did not have any problem. She kept our plates clean and drinks filled. She was there for us at the rigt times. I really appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant. Very cozy and not lousy. The restaurant itself is not that big, but I thought it's spacious enough. You don't have to worry about squeeze into your seat or bumping with other people. Overall, I have to give this place 5 stars and will come back soon. I must say this is the best experience so far when I look at all the aspects - the staff, location, decor, food, price, and menu.

Once again, I'm torn between a 3 and 4. I hesitate with the stars for small reasons but reasons nonetheless (sorry, I'm a harsh critic!) 1. The bread made me cut my cheek. Yeah, I know, I claim I always love free stuff, and it was probably more my problem, but my mom actually gave up on her roll it was so hard, crunchy and downright impossible to tear, even with both my teeth and hands fully engaged. (Quite the picture, right?) I was determined to get to inhale the cinnamon butter presented with it so didn't give up until I really got it in there and came down hard on my tongue. That made drinking acidic wine very, very uncomfortable. Sorta spoiled the rest of my experience. Lame, I know. 2. The appetizer was just so-so. Mushroom bruschetta. We both called it out on the menu immediately so had to get it but we wound up disappointed. The bread was much softer (thankfully) and the balsamic was some of the best I've had, but the mushrooms were barely there, the cheese was glopped only on one side and the egg wound up overpowering nearly everything else on the plate. 3. Finally, as I'm currently living in DC the prices didn't really phase me, but I think my mom experienced a bit of sticker shock when she saw the bill ($100+) for an app, two wine flights and two entrees. But. But. Our server was very sweet and helpful (ably directing us to which wines we might enjoy) and the wine list truly is huge. The salmon entree was tasty and cooked all the way through (as my mom had requested), but the eggplant doughnut on top was probably the hit there! My scallops were truly well-cooked and the singed brussel sprouts were the perfect salty accompaniment. Presentation of every dish was lovely.

The Staff here make everything worthwhile...Paul the Chef is top class, Hunter the owner is great and Clay the GM Sommelier wonderful. Very classy joint, and the staff are very knowledgeable about wine and food pairings.Do yourself a favor and go and sit at the bar and enjoy. The most knowledgeable wine staff I have seen in 20 cities across the country.

Ha, this place is completely in the middle of nowhere for me. But it was well worth the drive. The wine menu is laid out in a very, very thoughtful manner, though I'll say it's geared more towards a non-educated wine enthusiast than a connoisseur. Nothing wrong with that. The service was very capable of recommendations. The buffalo mozzarella was outstanding. Finding true fresh mozzarella seems oddly difficult out here (seriously, why can I only find vacuum-packed stuff?), but this was a home run. The chicken and waffle was solid as well. The chicken was perfectly cooked and nicely spiced. The waffle was quality. The only real downside of this dish was the chicken au jus the waffles sat in. It was very heavily salted and really ruined the balance - any part of the waffle that had absorbed this was nearly inedible. Any part that hadn't was quite nice. Dessert was a mixed bag. The cookie tasted a bit like toll house. Everything else was good. This was a long ways from downtown, and at one point involved a turn into darkness. Repeating myself - It was well worth the drive.

At my server's suggestion I chose the Swordfish Polmpettas made with Farro and nuts with Raisens. I am not normally not a big fish fan but I decided to give this a try. Boy am I glad a did because this Sicilian version on fish meatballs in just the right amount of a delicious red sauce was outstanding. I was so pleased that I was sure to eat every bite. I ordered Vanilla Creme Brulee to go (hard to preserve the presentation I know) but I was too full to eat it right away. Since it is my favorite dessert I couldn't resist. I was a bit surprised by the $9.00 price but it was one of the best versions that I have had.

Ate here with a group for lunch and we all picked something different. The place was pretty empty but the decor was immaculate and looks like it would be a nice place for an evening wine tasting. They have a huge selection of wines and some craft beer. Didn't get to try the wine or beer, but plan on coming back for sure sometime (once I move to the east side soon!) I had the crab cake sliders and the crab cake was very good - perfectly fried crust and the lump crab inside was delish. There were only 2 and they were tinier than I expected so I also ordered the tomato basil soup which was a tangy creamy bisque with pesto dribbled on top instead of mixed in. All in all, everyone really liked their meals but the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars was the service. Although they were certainly friendly and helpful enough, getting the food out was too long. A good 45 minutes we waited after our order and there were only 7 of us with a nearly empty restaurant. Still would definitely go back - probably for just apps and wine tasting on an evening though.

This evening had the red snapper special off the new spring menu. It was prepared with a carrot accompaniment with both steamed carrots and spiced purée. Fantastic! Also known for wine parings which were very well chosen. Lastly, the background music was jazz which I love. This restaurant hits all the right notes. I've found a new staple! Move over Brown Dog.

I visited 20 Brix last weekend and had a pretty great experience (aside from the fabulously drunk woman at the next table talking all about her digestive allergies and the trouble they cause--PERFECT dinner conversation.) My guy friend who is an analytical flavor chemist practically licked his shrimp and grits bowl clean. He labelled it "the best meal he's had maybe ever." I had the risotto that's listed as an appetizer or small plate and ordered some brussels sprouts for the two of us. The risotto was pretty tasty--nothing absolutely amazing but definitely something I'd have again. The brussels sprouts were AMAZING. They have this mustard sauce that I almost licked the bowl to finish. It's a perfect pairing with the sprouts, bacon and onion in the rest of the dish. Even if you don't like sprouts or haven't eaten them much, you'd love these ones! I'd go back just for the sprouts. The service was so-so. We were there during a busy Friday night though so I can't complain too much. It wasn't terrible but we were left at the table for quite some time before ordering than again when we were finished. This restaurant is a little pricey though. Maybe a little too pricey for what you get but not absolutely terrible. It was also kind of strange because we hadn't made reservations and were told that it would be about an hour wait when we arrived. We left and wondered around Old Milford for about 30 minutes and when we returned, there were still about 5 empty tables. We ended up waiting about 10 more minutes and were only seated after a table of a man and his 3 boys left after realizing that they weren't in the pasta restaurant. None of the other tables were sat while we there. I don't know if they were holding tables all night for late reservations or what but it seemed strange. Overall, a good experience and if I'm ever in Milford again, I would certainly go back.

We ventured out to Milford for Cincinnati Restaurant Week last night (9/12), and it was worth the twenty five minute drive for 20 Brix. The restaurant is located in old downtown Milford, its just so charming. When we arrived in the restaurant we were greeted promptly by the maitre d' and he showed us to our table. We were greeted within a few minutes by our server Robin letting us know that Mondays are retail wine night. They do have an extensive list of wines so we chose a $50 bottle and after the markdown was only 35. :The restaurant week first course I got was the roasted cauliflower veloute with salsa verde swirled on top. It was nice, rich and creamy and gave the cauliflower a great taste. My companion got the caesar salad with a grilled lemon vinaigrette that she loved. : For our second course we both ordered the risotto which had sweet corn, local tomatoes, chiles and cheddar cheese and also spring onion. The risotto was perfect, it was rich, creamy and flavorful. After eating this course the Chef came out to our table to see how the meal so far was going and it was a nice gesture. : The third course for me was the signature shrimp and grits and my companion got the vegetarian mushroom polenta with wilted greens. The shrimp and grits were even better than Hugo for me, although I like the demi Hugo sends out with the dish. : For dessert we split the Lemon Berry Mascarpone cake served with a bumbleberry sauce. It was rich and yet fluffy and the added lemon zest in the cake made it an amazing end to a wonderful meal. As I stated above Monday is a great night to go, since retail wine night. I would put this restaurant up in my top ten in Cincinnati.

20 Brix has a lot of good things going for it. Large wine and beer selection. Makes use of local ingredients. They care about food quality, presentation, and service. I have been here a few times. I will say that most everything I have had has been both intriguing and good. This past visit I was stumped by some overcooked fish - two different varieties served at our table. The salmon was served with a smoky sauce that overpowered everything in the dish. I felt sorry for that dining partner. I enjoyed baby bok choy, oyster mushrooms, orange hollandaise sauce. Lemon blueberry cake. It's a winner. The service was good. The host had the most wonderful smile and was also quite gracious. They have a lovely patio that I would like to try some day when the weather is more complimentary.

The staff, the food and the wine are wonderful!! The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very knowledgeable on the menu and about the wine. They are always showing some sort of old film on the T.V. near the bar. I really love the menu items, the figgy piggy sandwich, the German sandwich, the crab cake sliders and the pizzas are all wonderful! I ordered the cheese tray before and it was a little pricey for the amount of food on the tray and they don't provide enough bread with it.

I dined at this restaurant last week along with 22 of my colleagues for a wine tasting night. The food and service were great considering the number of our party. Incredibly delicious and a great wine selection!

First of all, this area of Milford is adorable with its antique shops and other stores. What drew us into 20 Brix was the patio and the delicious looking food that we spied people eating. We started with the bruschetta and I have to say it was some of the best I've had--fresh ingredients and a decent size to share. For my entree I had the crab cake which came with a mixed greens salad and fruit. Again, the high quality ingredients made this lunch delicious. It was a perfect size and left me full but not stuffed. The wine list is extensive but it was too early for me to partake so I opted for a sparkling water. During our visit we didn't see too many local beers on the menu which was a bummer.

I've only been here once, but I plan to return. I went here with friends and we spent way too much money (we're wine people). The food was excellent, well-prepared, and savory. I agree with recommendations for the conversation platter. We ordered that, and it was a great pairing with our pre-dinner aperitif. As for the wines, I don't think you could go wrong here. We did a bit of exploring, and enjoyed some fantastic wines that we had never tried before. Just watch out, because after a while, the cost starts sneaking up on you. I'm surprised to see the experiences others have had with poorly prepared meals and bad service. When we went, we saw no indications of any of those kinds of issues. But, having only been to 20 Brix once, who knows. All I can say is, our experience was outstanding, and we look forward to returning.

been here numerous of times and everything ive had was fantastic. Not only that, but these creative and original dishes were all reasonable prices. I feel that any "foodies" or "cincy locals" should embrace this place for all they have to offer. Its worth your time!

20 Brix is consistently good. I can always count on a great meal. The decor is inviting, and the service is warm and reliable. The food is delish, and the wine selection is fantastic. For appetizers, we almost always get the conversation platter, which is a generious portion of cheeses, meats, fruits, nuts, and bread. I highly recommend it. The pizzas also make a great appetizer to share. Hands down, my most favorite entree is the chicken and waffles. Perfectly crisp chicken paired with savory waffles and a semi-sweet syrup.......yumsters! I can't resist ordering this every single time. However, the scallops are usually very good, and the shrimp and grits is a crowd favorite, as well. I wish the dessert menu was a little more creative. I can't remember anything I've had in this category that blew me away. Overall, I love this place. It's always a solid choice for a great night out.

Hmmm. Wish I could write 2 reviews. First, from my recent experience during restaurant week from my point of view. Restaurant week menu --wonderful. Shrimp and grits were to die for and the scallops on a hot rock were both fun and yummy. Service good . Now from my friend who ate with me. Salad very good and so was the ap. But when they brought my butterfish it was raw and cold inside. I sent it back. They were most apologethic and said they would fix it. I waited. And waited. Finally my friend asked about it and the waitress had forgotten her--gave some excuse that she thought my friend had already eaten and the plate was gone. The fish came very quickly and my friend said it was OK. But they really should have comped her wine or something because of the long long wait and no one offered anything. So Good for me and ok-ish for her. Or maybe just Meh.

I will start off by saying I was blown away by the food offered here at 20 Brix. Looking at the menu at first seemed a little daunting, considering there were so many options. I ended up ordering the Steak and Frites for an entree and a number of sides, including the brussel sprouts, corn bread pudding and the broccoli. I left full, happy and excited about what I would order next time. Great place to go for a date or meet up with some friends.

Went for Restaurant Week and the experience was decent. Service was very good, as per usual. We appreciated that the menu included suggested wine pairings with each offered course. But the selections were a bit curious; I think they were catering to people who have a strong preference toward either whites or reds, because there was one of each per course. I suppose that's thoughtful, and I'm not a Nazi about having to drink white wine with fish, red with meat. But some of the recommendations I found suspect. The food was hit or miss. The carrot and ginger soup was decadently creamy and delicious with just the right amount of spice--poblanos were a wonderful touch. 20 Brix usually does soups extremely well. The chicken risotto was a miss. The texture was right, but flavor was anemic--tasted fatty without being rich, like a one of those microwave pasta in a bag meals. The shrimp and grits were velvety and very well seasoned. The shrimp were tiny, but the grits and sauce were a real treat. I was disappointed I finished the risotto because I didn't have room to clean my plate with the shrimp and grits.

This place is very warm. The lighting, wood and the olive paint make it that way, and you would expect nothing less from a wine bar. I am not a drinker, so my review is based solely on food and service, both of which were great. They have a varied menu of salads and soups for lunch. Their tomato soup with basil was smooth and seasoned well. Had their crab cake sliders as well and those also tasted good and fresh. The pickles they served with it were strange thou, they were very tangy. Like I said I am not a drinker but I have never seen such an extensive wine list. They also tell you their own personal suggestions for each type which seemed like it could be fun. You could order 2oz glasses and probably be there all day trying different kinds, until your liver gives up that is.

We stumbled upon 20 Brix a few weeks ago and had a pretty good lunch. They would have received a 4* if not for one mistake, which I'll get to in a minute. One portion of the restaurant is a retail store which had a decent selection of wine and beer. It kept us sufficiently entertained until the rest of our party arrived. Their wine menu is impressive and the suggested wines were helpful, though our waitress was a little unsure of herself and went to the bartender to get us recommendations (pretty sure she was new). We each tried 2 oz. glasses first, which was a nice option. We ordered the conversation platter first, which had a beautiful selection of cheeses and sausages plus fruit and nuts. It was well balanced and presented; I was impressed. We also had the bruschetta with goat cheese and proscuitto and a delicious basil sauce and some sort of balsamic reduction (at least, I think that's what it was, it's not listed on the menu) that I was tempted to lick off the plate. Yum. Before our entrees came out, we ordered another round of wine. The bartender's recs were delicious, except my mom ordered a chardonnay and ended up with some sort of cabernet sauvignon. She drank it and didn't complain since the waitress delivered the drinks then disappeared for a while. I ordered the "Figgy Piggy" sandwich, a nice combination of prosciutto, triple cream brie, fig preserves and arugula. The flavor combination was really delicious. However, the sandwich was served with a side of fruit- strawberries, raspberries and grapes- that would have been great, except that the were caked in dirt. Not just a little dusty, but actually caked with chunks of dirt like they had just been pulled out of the ground. I don't know how they could have gotten past the chef looking like that. I very politely returned the plate to the waitress. She seemed surprised and not very apologetic. She brought the plate back immediately-the fruit had been rinsed. But, upon closer examination- as in, when I started to eat it- I realized that it still wasn't clean and that there was a live bug in a raspberry. Ew. I was so offput that I didn't touch anything else for the rest of the meal. They didn't apologize or offer any kind of comp, which was surprising. My mom also got the same sandwich, her fruit was clean, so it must have just been a fluke. But it was certainly upsetting to see a live critter nestled in a raspberry I was about to eat. As I said, the food was great, the wine list was great, the service was fine. I'll probably go back, because, having worked in restaurants, I realize that things like this happen and the food was good enough to earn a shot at redemption. But, seriously, a live bug on my plate? Ew.

We went here for Cincinnati Restaurant week this last week. We got to try a three course meal for $26.10 a person which is a real steal at this restaurant. This is intelligent food cooked very well with interesting mixes and flavor choices. I had some outstanding little chicken wings that just fell off the bone they were so good. The other two courses I chose were the oyster & pearl soup (great texture and flavor, not fishy at all.) and the scallops were absolutely to die for. They were large and a delicious flavor served on top of a bed of spinach and puree'd potatoes. Foodies will enjoy the wide and unique wine, beer, and food combinations. They take pride and point out that they love to pair wines with meals for people. I agreed to a glass of chardonnay, the waiter came back to make sure I was ok with a $14 glass, which I declined hastily. He then offered an additional wine which was absolutely fantastic until I realized he had sold me on a $12.50 glass of chardonnay. It was a good selection, just a bit more than I like to spend. I would recommend this to any foodie that wants to try something unique in the beautiful downtown of historic Milford.

Great food, great service. We love this place!! Amazing shrimp and grits. Loved the forager flat bread pizza. My husband had crabcake sliders and loved them.

Have their Chocolate Moose. Best I've ever had outside of France!

Nice, upscale restaurant (for the area). You can sit outside or inside. A not so impressive salad and 5oz of wine cost me $20. But, the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is great. This place leaves no stone unturned. They could stand up against comparable places in hyde park or downtown.

We were a bit hesitant at first to try this place, considering the location. What a nice surprise! Being that it is in the heart of downtown Milford, it is by far a diamond in the rough. An extensive beer and wine list. The only drawback to any of the menu items : The duck. The duck entree is over cooked, and that is such a shame because the cherry reduction that is served with the duck is divine. I say the duck is always overcooked because we went there two weekends in a row and ordered it each time hoping that it was just a mistake. Nope, just over-cooked. Other than that, the cream corn soup is wonderful( I came short of licking the bowl clean), the Shrimp and grits are pretty tasty, and the scallops were buttery. Apart from the above mentioned items, the menu is simple. Try the specials for the night, you will not be disappointed. I had a wonderful duck-confit pasta, very nicely done. Leave room for dessert, their marscarpone cake was deelish!

Very good atmosphere, food and service. My husband had the shrimp and grits and said it was awesome. I just wanted something small and the server discussed the various salads...I went for the 20 Brix salad and it was good. Very different and good. Service was excellent, food was very good and we hope to return. The server said the crab cakes are very good; I heard the chicken is awesome. The new burger is said to have Terry's Turf lovers talking about it's delicious taste.

Took a little jaunt out to Milford this weekend to try out 20 Brix. General, I wouldn't begin with a tangent but what is with the "degree" symbol by the 20 in the name "20 Brix" (no, I refuse to type the degree symbol). So, is it 20 degrees Brix? An ode to that forgotten nightmare of a pop band 90-something degrees? Speaking of forgettable, let's talk about Brix' food. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Slap me insane, folks. I tried Shrimp & Grits, yet again, in Cincinnati and expected a positive result. Silly me. The $22 Shrimp & Grits had 4 prawns and grits. The manager described them as "breakfast style". I describe them as "yuck". The other dish tried by my table of two was the Spring Pea Risotto with hand made Italian sausage. I think the meal was supposed to be like "Where's Waldo?," only it was "Where's the handmade Italian sausage?" We found exactly 4 eighth of an inch (or less) tiny pieces of sausage in a sea of risotto (which was orzo pasta) and snow peas. It was edible, but forgettable. I was almost forgot (pun intended), we had salad too. We had the caesar salad. It was not terribly good. The only reason that this restaurant gets two stars is SERVICE. The service in the restaurant is 5-star quality service. A party of 22, that was sat nearly the same time as we, did not affect our service in any way.

We did the tasting menu - fabulous.

I met a friend here to get re-aquainted. The atmosphere is very welcoming and so are the staff. We received excellent wine recommendations and the food paring was pretty good. I had a salad and the crab cake, both were very good. My friend had the pizza and it was delicious.

We went to 20 Brix for lunch today and the arugula salad was very bland and overpriced. In addition, the side of roasted vegetables had absolutely no flavor. The waiter was too busy talking to another table to pay any attention to us. I've been to this restaurant in the past and the food was good, but apparently, things have changed. I would not recommend 20 Brix to anyone.
(1)Chris V.
Excellent food makes 20 Brix worth returning to, the chef is always introducing new and interesting ingredients. The menu changes regularly, in addition to daily specials. Service is top notch, and oh yeah, they have that huge wine selection. Great bottled beer choices too.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this great restaurant several months ago after hearing about it on NPR. After about 8 visits, I thought I'd write a review. The wine list is rather daunting at first, but most of the staff I've talked to is well versed in it; and are adept at providing recommendations for pairings with entrees. The 2oz pours are great for a tasting flight in case you don't necessarily want to commit to a full glass. I was just there last night for dinner with a friend. They had just a rolled out a new menu the Monday before last night. The menu is very approachable, and the two entrees we both got were unbelievably good. By far, this is the best meal (and certainly the best restaurant) in Milford I have EVER eaten. If you go soon, don't miss the calamari app (this is even better than the calamari I had at a 4 star restaurant in Chicago). Also the Brix-House (cute play on words) salad is my favorite on the menu of the three, and is probably enough for two people to split if you're each getting your own entree and an app. There was a pinch of taragon in their salad, which made for a wonderfully interesting combination of flavors with the salad's pine nuts and feta. As for entrees, I had the scallop entree which I highly recommend, but if you ask for it make sure they just drizzle their carmelized butter sauce, if there's too much it can be a tad rich, but in no way does it detract from any other part of the dish. The deliciousness of the spring pea risotto cannot be overstated--slightly spicy, well balanced, and rich. My roommate rarely (and I mean rarely) finishes his entire plate--and there as was a lot of risotto there--I thought he would lick his plate if no one was watching ;) The bartender, Vicki is absolutely a delight. She's usually only there on Thursdays, which out of all 8 times in 5 months we've has been so far there has been only day that we've gone. The service has always been on point. The only detractor I would mention is that sometimes the kitchen can get a little in the weeds when they're busy. That's true for any restaurant of course, and I imagine that the little touches they put onto their entrees certainly add to the time it takes the entree to make it out of the kitchen. Parking is on-street, but in Milford at 745pm it's not far to walk at all. 20 Brix is definitely worth a visit, whether you're from this side of town or not (and then again for 7 more visits at least). I couldn't be more glad to have them so close to where I live. Congrats on a fantastic restaurant in my book!

I have loved this place in the past, but it is off my list now! The food was too expensive for the small potions. I was very disappointed.

We chose 20 Brix for restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. Out of 6 dishes we ordered, most were outstanding, none disappointing, and the attention to wine pairing was quite impressive. The atmosphere was elegant, yet comfortable, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Great restaurant. We dine here about once a month. Each time we are pleased by the changing menu. It varies with the seasons and the chef's interests, but always includes a few of our favorites. The Conversation Platter is a greater starter. I have enjoyed every fish dish I have tried. My wife loves the shrimp and grits. The service and attention from the management are professional but warm. Lauren is our favorite server. Ask for her by name.

It was well over a year over due, but it was an incredible experience none the less! My first time to 20 Brix was with my family, 6 of us, and we had early reservations at 5:30ish. We ordered the Pork Belly to share as an appetizer with a few glasses of wine, while I chose to go the craft beer route (decent selection!). For dinner, I don't remember what everyone else had, but I ordered the special. People, just remember, the head chef at 20 Brick, Paul Borroco, is a badass and the specials are called that for a reason! They are a plateful of tantalizing, perfectly meshed flavors that will leave you wanting to write a Yelp review of praise. Our visit was in December, so I don't remember exactly what I had, but it involved some kind of fish that I had never had before. It was delicious. Every one else loved their meals, wine, beer, and desert. We spent $300 I believe, so if you want to save a little money, don't hit the booze like we did. Side note, there wine list was very well done. Go to 20 Brix, it's worth the (scenic) drive to the cute town of Old Milford!
(5)Robert M.
Wow, one of the top new resturants in the city. Fun wine list. Good Food. Be sure to try one of the wine guys recommend wines. Had the conversation platter, good for two, proscuttio wrap figs, nice. Risotto with chicken, excellent, For dessert the choc mousse. Yummy
(5)Isabel Y.
A good restaurant, not anything spectacular to be honest. But the wine selection is great and the bartenders are friendly. Finally a nice restaurant to visit in Milford that isn't TPCC's dining room. Thumbs down on the parking situation though.
(4)Steve D.
This is a true gem in what hopes to be a revitalized "Old Milford." 20 Brix offers the best wine list from small vineyards. The food is spectacular. Start with some of the small plates like Arancini and 20 Brix Crab Cake with a bottle of Helix. The entrees are a good mix of beef, seafood and pasta.
(5)Patrick B.
Great drinks and loved the steak frites. Atmosphere outside with blooming trees was fantastic save one annoying detail: our entire ~2 hour dinner was accompanied by John Mayer songs. Without making this about John Mayer (whom this reviewer finds bearable, even nice, in small doses), come on, how tough is it to stream radio or hook on an iPod shuffle up to wireless speakers?

I ate at 20 Brix while I was visiting from Portland. This restaurant could easily be located in any foodie town. I had the shrimp and grits and really enjoyed them--lots of shrimp, homemade sausage, and cheese grit goodness. My dining companions had the porterhouse pork chop and the brucheta. Both were good. The only downside to this restaurant is the wine list--pretty extensive but also a little pricey. I wasn't impressed by the cheapest pinot noir on the list and thought some of the $50-60 bottle should have been in the $40 dollar range. I was happy to eat in a non-chain restaurant in Ohio, though. Compared to Portland the restaurant scene is quite grim.
