Good food and atmosphere, reasonable prices and "everyday drink specials" is a plus. Waitress was not very attentive and slow in retrieving drinks despite very few customers in restaurant. I also noticed waitress on the phone with a takeout order for 5 minutes during a wait to request drinks.

For a chain barbecue joint in an area not particularly known for barbecue this place isn't bad. The meat is flavorful, the slaw somewhat on the sweet side but acceptable, and the service friendly. The dirty rice needs work (undercooked and lacking flavor) and the prep cooking could do with a bit more attention to detail, but all-in-all not a bad option for a casual supper in Maumee.

Great place to come with a big group of people since they have plenty of room and tables to accommodate big groups. I came here for a holiday dinner. The server was nice and the food was decent. They have sauces on the table for your food but I didn't really like any of them except the blue one. I had the pulled pork with a baked potato and broccoli. The price was decent and the pork was good although my friend complained that her pulled pork sandwich was dry. Overall, a decent place to grab a bite to eat but nothing stood out as extraordinary so it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

Smokey's used to have a few of the best bartenders around about 2 years ago (i.e. Nev & Sam) ...but ever since they changed their format to staying open later for bar goers, they ironically have come down on the quality of bar staff. makes no sense, So we just stopped going since its simply no longer a fun place. Wonder if management changed or something... Note to all restaurant managers who hire staff: pleasant service = pleasant time = easy money! fun service=fun time=easy money great service=great time= easy money you get the idea. lol

Grabbed the 2 piece combo. Ribs and Wings with a baked potato and some fries on the side (not pictured) All I can say is WOW! These have got to be the best tasting ribs I have ever had and with a selection of about 5 different sauces to put on them puts them over the top. I chose the spicier chipotle sauce that brought these wings and ribs over the top of other places I have had. Definitely ribs gone right here. Keep up the good work. If I'm in the area again I'll stop in for round two!

I like Smokey Bones for what it is. It's a chain barbeque place and does the meats pretty solidly. Sides are good, nothing really remarkable about the place but they serve you a good meal at a decent price. I had the 3 meat combo which included pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. The brisket is chopped instead of sliceds and pre-sauced when it comes to you which I'd rather not have. If I want any sauce on my brisket I'd rather it be my choice. I had fries and baked beans for my sides. One suggestion, get a spoon if you're eating the beans. They're pretty soupy and can lead to shirt spillage.

It's not often that I'm satisfied with restaurants in random small towns in Northern Ohio, so when I happened to come here with my wife, her sister and dad for a pre-Christmas eve meal, I wasn't expecting much. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this culinary experience! Maybe it was because I came in with lowered expectations, but I think it was their delicious sauces that got me. BBQ is something I can always eat since it's dairy-free. This place does it very well. With a name like "Smokey Bones", it had better, am I right? I ordered a grilled chicken breast and some veggies sides. My portions were unimpressive to the eyes, but just enough for my stomach. Other dishes ordered were the cornbread and fried pickle slices as apps (very tasty pickles!), a cheeseburger, a full slab of ribs with mashed potatoes and corn, and a grilled chicken salad. I got to try a little bit of all of it and it was wonderful! Their three table sauces were quite yummy. The next time I'm in northern Ohio, I'd definitely come back here. Boo yah!

Meh. A little pricey. The food was adequate. I had a chicken breast with cheese & bacon on it. The meat could have stood on its own. I Liked the variety of table sauces. Cole slaw was under seasoned. Husband enjoyed his steak but once again it would have been great without the topping. Service was very good and the table was clean. I wouldn't run to eat here again but I didn't hate it so....meh.

We will never ever eat at Smokey Bones on Dussell ever ever again. We waited over a hour to get our meal and when we asked to speak to the manager twice, he never came to our table. Yes, the only place I've ever been to where the manager does not come to your table! I don't even want to give it a one star. Ridiculous!!!!

I've tried Smokey Bones twice now, and come away completely disappointed both times. I love BBQ, but found the ribs to be pretty unspectacular. Second time I tried the turkey. Portion size was small, very dry, just blah... We also got it carryout once, and it too was awful. I was told 30 minutes, arrived on time, and proceeded to wait another 40 minutes! I asked to speak to a manager, who apologized but did nothing else. Nothing off the bill, no money off a next visit, nothing. Got it home and everyone's food was cold. Unbelievable! It's close by, but I'll never go back. Too many other much better options.

So, first off, if you are a man or love yourself some legit BBQ.....you should definitely grub at Smokey Bones! My boyfriend introduced me to this joint and let me tell you....I'm in love! We live in Vegas but had to travel to Toledo for a baseball tournament and ate here twice while in Ohio. Both times we dined in, we had amazing service. The servers were very kind, attentive, and helpful. The place was pretty packed but the wait was never long. We ordered the Pulled Pork, the Mac and Cheese, and the Firesticks. The next day, we tried the Pulled Pork nachos and they were amazing as well. If you are from the south and love yourself some Southern Sweet Tea, you might be a tad let down. It will do for the moment but nothing compares to the real thing. There is a selection of BBQ sauces that you can choose from that are all fair however the one with the green label is the best. So, bottom line, give it a shot if you're in Toledo. There's not much to do there so you might as well fill your belly with some amazing fatty goodness! You'll have a good night's sleep.

I ordered the brisket and they brought me something very chewy. I informed the waiter and he apologized and brought me something completely different. All the other items were bad. The fries was old, the salad was sagged in sauce, the salmon was too dry. I do t think I'll ever go there again.

I came here with eleven others for a friend's birthday celebration. I ordered the Nutty Chicken Salad with grilled chicken. I would give this dish a 4 out of 5 stars. Quality ingredients but the ratios were off. There were not enough greens for the amount of pecans and goat cheese in the salad. My boyfriend ordered the Loaded BBQ Burger with fries. He said it was flavorful and enjoyed the different textures (patty, pulled pork & onion ring), but nothing he would go out of his way to get. They were very skimpy with the amount of pulled pork in the burger...it wasn't as "loaded" as the name would suggest. The fries were just okay. Cost is about what you would expect for a restaurant like this. Our dishes were about $10 each. Service was mediocre. The waitress never refilled my water and my boyfriend had to ask several times for more iced tea. Refills should never be a problem in restaurants, especially when there aren't many other patrons. We probably won't come back unless someone else suggests it. Food was acceptable but if we were to dine out, we would choose a place with better service.

Yuck! I had club sandwich for lunch. It was on fake toasted bread (the bread was made to look toasted, however, it was not) and was horrible cold. The over priced onion rings were like BK rings. I had a stomach ache the rest of the day. So much so, that I didn't eat dinner. Ick, never again.

I didn't much like my brisket. Tough, dry and not especially smokey. My friends who had ribs liked them bettter but weren't overly impressed--ribs might deserve 3 stars. Service was adequate, if not very knowledgable. Good beer selection, with $4 for a 22oz craft beer on tap, this was the highlight.

Crap. I really like to be stingy with my 5-stars, but I just went to Smokey Bones and had to upgrade them from the 4-stars I gave them previously. I got a full rack of baby back ribs, which (surprisingly) were tough and rather disappointing. My waitress inquired about my food, and I told her it was a bit tough. She immediately offered to get me another full rack, and about 10 minutes later, I had one sitting in front of me. The second one was up to their usual standards; it was awesome. They know how to take care of you there. My other complaint in my previous review was about their side salads. Their menu looks like it has been updated recently, and they now offer side salads for $3.49. However, with some (most?) of the meals, it is only $2.49 to add a salad. While I would still like to see a side salad as a standard side, the price to add one has at least entered a range I consider "reasonable".

We went here on mothers day for dinner. We had a party of 10, and our waitress was very friendly and always made sure our drinks were full. It was my first time eating here. I ordered the BBQ Chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes and gravy. My chicken was just alright, it didn't have much flavor besides the skin. I dipped it in the chipotle BBQ sauce they provide at the table, and it helped the flavor a lot. The mashed potatoes were surprisingly bland, and I think the Walmart deli mashed potatoes are like way above these. I like my mashed potatoes thicker, and these were very "mushy", like too much liquid was mixed in. The broccoli was fine, it just tasted like regular steamed broccoli. My family had mixed feelings on their food. My uncle and grandpa both got ribs, however they were very differently cooked. My uncles were extremely dry, and had to spit out pieces that he had to chew for several minutes before realizing it was too tough to eat. My grandpas ribs were perfectly cooked and near falling off the bone. My mom got a burger, and presentation wise it came out looking less appealing than an angus delux from McDonald's. The tomato was not a juicy red, but more of a pale sad tomato. She said her fries were great but the burger kind of tasted like one of those burgers you buy at the grocery store that come in a box. I don't think I would every go back here myself, I like Famous Dave's on Monroe street much better.

Smokey Bones is a chain restaurant that currently seems to be undergoing a bit of an identity crisis... it used to almost have a "rustic lodge" feel, but currently is sporting unattractive chalk-drawings in garish colors and pictures of seductive sexpots on its menu. I think this is to give it more the "pit dive\sports bar" feel, but I liked the old atmosphere better, myself... Whatever the case, they always have had little speakers on the tables which you can tune to whatever TV you choose (or just leave it off), which is a nice idea. I'm not sure how well it works in practice since I usually come here with family and want to talk, though. Anyways, the specialty here is BBQ, which is served in a variety of ways and flavors, my favorite being the BBQ chicken. Done right, you get crispy skin and tender meat to which you can add more sauce if you like. My last visit, though, I got a simple pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good. As is usual for the pulled meats at SB, the pork itself was a bit dry. The taste is alright, though, when paired with a choice of BBQ sauce. These are located on the table in a holder. You might consider using a napkin to hold the little pitcher as they tend to be sticky. Alas, such is the nature of BBQ sauce and BBQ joints. Other items I like are the cornbread and doughnuts. The cornbread is served as an appetizer though you probably could eat it for dessert if you apply enough of the honey-pecan butter. The flavor and texture are smooth and mild (none of the baking soda tang or grittiness you get in a lot of cornbread), and the size is large - great for sharing. ...honestly, it's more like cake than cornbread. The doughnuts, meanwhile, are served with cinnamon sugar in a paper bag which the server shakes at your table. They come with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces, but taste fine by themselves. The best part is the soft, doughy cake-doughnut texture. SB also offers salads and BBQ baked potatoes - my dining companion spoke well of the latter. Currently they are also pushing build-your-own burgers ....Again, this is to enhance the "sports bar feel" I assume. Personally, I think it's a bit weird ordering a burger at a BBQ joint - kinda like ordering steak at a seafood restaurant - but I'm sure they're quite good. They certainly have some interesting looking toppings (pepper bacon and BBQ onions could be quite tasty...) Service can vary, of course, but normally it's quite good to excellent. The server on the last visit was of the latter category, and aside from being friendly and helpful also went out of her way with the coupons we had to ensure maximum savings. Saving money always tastes good, esp. considering the cost. To be perfectly fair, prices at SB are on par with a lot of the sit-down BBQ joints I've been to - around $12~14 for most platters, ribs around $17~20, and sandwiches between $7~10. Note, though, that SB also puts out a lot of coupons, including some $10 off $20, so grab a friend and split the cost. ....or order a full rack of ribs and get them half off. One other thing - SB does a pretty good job for big groups if the table-loads of families that always seem to be there indicate. I only ever go with a party of four at most, but it's a place to keep in mind if you get stuck hosting the family reunion... They do takeout too, even for up to 100 people. I expect you will want to call far in advance for that, however...

Good steak seasoned well and cooked just as I asked. The waitress wasn't the best. My wife had the pulled pork which was tasty, but the variety of sauces at the table were not labeled and she wasn't able to tell us what they were. Prices were reasonable and the decor was relaxed and matched the food. Nothing fancy.

Smokey Bones is a perfect place to grab a bite of BBQ. The interior is reminicent of a log cabin that contains many TVs (for the sports fans) and each table has its own speaker to tune into the TV of choice. Moving on to the food...it was pretty decent. The pulled pork was very good and the rest was pretty standard (I was a fan of the corn side dish). I've been there a few times and each visit I had good, prompt service and pretty decent meal to go along with it. If you focus more on your food then entertainment when you go out to a restaurant, I would point you to Mancy's restaurant, Shorty's.

Decent food, a little over-priced. A soft drink is $2.59 at the time of this review. This is a good place to go once in awhile but not really anything special. To me I relate it to Applebees just "Barbeque" instead of "American" dining. My "baked potato" seemed more microwaved simply going by the skin of the potato. It was more mushy and soft than crisp like a normal baked potato. Overall the food was average, service was average.
(3)
Akhom K.
If you like to sit down and have a few drinks with some friends, here is a place to do it. They have a large drink selection and some of the best margaritas in town. Applebee's meets Mancy's here, the American grill meets Mancy's quality and great decor. I even saw hip-hop star Busta Rhymes pull up to this oversized log cabin. The service is friendly, and usually short to no waiting. I usually don't eat pork besides some baby back ribs, but the pulled pork sandwich is what I always get. I like the idea of trying something new, but why change/fix it if its not broken?

We had a party of 15 and they seated us right away. Red lobster had a 1.5 hour wait. Their smoked wings were incredible. The service was a little slow but I talked with the manager Zach and he was super friendly and helpful.

Awesome food, service, and atmosphere. I always stop here on my way through town. You can't go wrong here. My only complaint is there isn't one close enough to me!

(3)Faith C.

Note to all restaurant managers who hire staff: pleasant service = pleasant time = easy money! fun service=fun time=easy money great service=great time= easy money you get the idea. lol
(2)Joe C.

Boo yah!
(3)Joey M.
Great food they had a margarita special which was nice the bartender was great manager was great we were staying next door at a hotel so this worked out perfect I would definitely eat there again You could barely hear the music most Smokey Bones have it a little louder so that it is part of the foreground and not the background
(4)Carrie S.

(1)Destiny B.
A very comforting feeling place great food small portions we went at 730 so it wasn't too busy when we walked in no one greeted us it took a while to be seated it took very long to get drinks and food but man it was good I would go again
(4)Pat W.
OK food at an OK price but nothing stands out. The atmosphere is lodge like and is Cozy especially in winter. The service is usually pretty good.
(3)Brian R.
(2)Ian P.
It was terrible all around took 45 min to get a seat then when we sat down there was tons of open tables I got the brisket and it was slimy with little flavor the corn was obviously out of a can and the portions were small I'll never go back

(5)Major R.

(3)Stine M.
(1)Robert B.
(2)B G.
