Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I love this place for a quick, light lunch - customizable lunch like Chipotle but with an Italian flare instead. I doubt authenticity (think Fusian and Chipotle) and its street food descriptor, but I am still a fan. Service is fast (though line can be long during rush hour), ingredients are fresh, and food is delicious. I like how I can order a piada, soup, salad, or even pasta bowl that's customizable so menu does have some variety. My favorite is the steak with anything on it. Note that everything seems very garlic-y (too much at times), so if you're not a fan of garlic, you may not enjoy this as much...come prepared with lots of gum or mint!

I went to here for the first time today with my mom and some of my sisters and over all the experience was pretty good. I loved the decor, how clean the whole place was, and how fresh all the food look. However I thought the staff could be a little more friendly.

As a vegan, getting a fast fresh meal can sometimes be a challenge, so I am pleased to have this great option! I have now gone to Piada several times, and I have always been happy. I either choose the pasta bowl or salad bowl depending on my hunger level. Since I am not having meat on either, I don't mind asking for a little extra helping of toppings. All the toppings are super fresh-- beans, roasted red peppers, shrooms, olives, etc. I appreciate that the salad is tossed in a large bowl before being served. Since I am at this point somewhat burned out on Chipotle & Panera, I like having Piada as in the same neighborhood.

Italian Street Food? That sounds new & interesting. It isn't really. This is basically a Chipotle with a different name & decor. I got the Steak Piatta (is that a real word?). It was okay but somewhat bland. My daughter got pasta w/ chicken & Alfredo & my son got the Italian sausage Piatta. The 2 bowls of lobster bisque were not ready when we ordered. They said it would be brought out to our table in 2-3 minutes. About 12-15 minutes passed before we had to go back to ask for the bisque. Even though we ordered our food with a big variety of ingredients, sauces & garnishes, it still didn't taste Italian at all. Had I eaten this while blindfolded, I would have guessed it was Greek or something from Chipotle. This place is also pretty pricey. $40 for lunch for 3 (we didn't order any extras except the bisque). The most noticeable negative observation was actually first mentioned by my kids. The remark was "The people who work here were really short with us." They were. They seemed annoyed at having to explain how their menu works & one woman was downright rude to my son when he asked if she could please add extra meat to his dish. She looked annoyed as she lobbed 1 extra meatball at his order. Atmosphere was dull. Very plain. Techno dance music playing was weird. Positives? Food was very fresh, restaurant was clean. Too many good food choices in this area for me to ever go back here. Not a fan. If you like Chipotle, but want to pay more...this is your place.

Good concept and food quality is good. But there is no flavour. very light flavour. Sauces are very thin and flavour less..
(3)Kelly K.
My family and I enjoy the good here. My biggest complaint would be the seating. You wait in line only to find that people who are in line behind you had a family member find a table to save. Last time I went with my kids we had to wait at the soda counter for a table, when four of the tables had someone sitting there saving a table. I'll be back for take out or less busy time.

So so Italian food. They tried to be chipotle, Italian style. Pasta is okay .. Ingredients are okay. You can only put so much into a pasta without it tasting awful. Meatball wasn't good. Don't know if I would come back. The ambiance is good though.

This is seriously what my afterlife will be if I make it through the pearly gates. There needs to be a Piada on every street corner so that I can have access to fresh pastas at every waking moment. DELICIOUS. Definitely a Chipotle-style ordering system that is convenient and lets you build-your-own dish. I went for a pasta bowl (that's huge!) with chicken and artichokes, olives, sundried tomatoes and a pesto-basil sauce. For pasta lovers, this place is just awesome. I seriously savored every bite and can't wait to rush back! I would like to try the Piada sandwich sometime and the lobster bisque.

Went here on the spur of the moment with my hubby. He had gone to the one in Columbus and raved about it! This raised my expectations and I was disappointed. For starters, the one in Columbus served wine, and this one does not (FYI). Though I did not rate them down just because of this. The food was just okay. We ordered the calamari app with the side sauce. It was okay, not soggy. The sauce was a little spicy which was just right for me, though others may find it not spicy enough. Don't know if it was good enough to order again. My pasta bowl was a generous serving. I chose the grilled chicken and diavolo sauce. Just the right spiciness to the sauce for me. Good amount of chicken. I wish they had a non-tomato sauce that wasn't cream-based. Something healthier. Because of this, I don't know if I would return. I will say that the service was good. Friendly and efficient. The tables were clean, as was the women's restroom.
(3)Debbie G.
Fast and fresh. Our only complaint is that the peppers and onions in the Piada are barely cooked. If you like hard and raw bell peppers and onion in your street food,b this is your place
(3)Erika L.
I reviewed once before when the place opened. Unfortunately I have to say they're getting stingy with their food. I didn't mind the prices before. However, they've cut back on the amount of meat you get, as well as veggies and toppings. You have to ask over and over for "more", especially for things like the amazing bruschetta tomatoes... Listen, guys. We pay enough to have a decent meal. Don't be cheap!
(4)Tina M.
I have never tasted food like that in America. Only when I travel do I taste food that is alive and so awesome you actually have a real dream about it. I did just that. I BEG them to get on in West Chester!!!! PLZ!!!!
(5)Charles E.
This is kind of like a Chipotle for Italian wraps and noodle bowls. I thought it was tasty, with a nice selections of ingredients and reasonably priced.
(4)steve s.
Green stripe pizza very good. Salad -roasted veggie - lettuce little wilted - don't like pre made salad. Like fresh one. That's why I gave 4 stars. Will come back for sure.
(4)Nick B.
I have been a huge fan ever since the first opened just off OSU's campus while I was at school up there. I was really excited when it made it's way to Mason. The food is delicious. It is basically Italian Chipotle, food is made and they put it together right in front of you as you go though the line and tell them what you want. The line can be a little slow at this location compared to what I was used to in Columbus. I mainly order online now, which is great for lunches during the work day. Prices are very reasonable.

6pm on a Sunday...plenty of seats...many needed to be bussed by one of the guys standing around the food area..this is just an Italian Chipotle... 2 small salads..looked nothing like web site picture..with tasteless Parmesan dressing, sausage paida just ok, small pasta with Parmesan dressing & tasteless chicken..bland, barely warm pasta ( less warm after salad was eaten)...just nothing to return for..Instead of $27.00 for 2 snack meals, Bravo is right up the road..not sure who the rave reviews are from...
(1)Carolyn B.
My daughter suggested meeting here for dinner as she is familiar with the one in Columbus where they first started and since I had heard really good things, it was a go. Both the concept and the menu are fantastic! Basically, you order from either a piada (thin-crusted grilled dough), pasta or salad. Add chicken, steak, calamari, salmon, italian sausage or vegetarian (not protein but grilled veggies). Sauces are cold pestos, creamy parmesan or hot red/white sauces. Impressing me the most were the toppings - they all looked/tasted fresh and were more than the run of the mill options. I chose spinach as the base for my salad, topped with mushrooms, artichokes (yum), cucumbers, red onion, parmesan reggiano, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and peppers topped with the balsamic dressing. Because of choosing the pick two option, I ended up getting the lobster bisque along with the small salad and chicken. They didn't ask which type of chicken I wanted so I'm assuming they gave me the rosemary, garlic and lemon version since it didn't taste crispy. Split an artichoke piada stick with my daughter - it was a little disappointing to see that they were already made up before we ordered. She choose the pasta bowl along with tomato bisque which she highly recommends. Can't speak to the pasta or piadas, but plan to try them on another visit. I will have to say that their selection of italian sodas and teas sounded yummy, but wasn't in the mood for anything sweet that evening. Maybe because we went on a weekday evening, we didn't have any problems finding a place to sit and the interior was very nice looking. All in all a very positive experience!

Piada Italian Street Food in Mason is a great place to go for a quick, yet freshly prepared meal. My favorite is the Chicken Pesto Pasta Bowl. If you don't want as much pasta, just tell the friendly staff who will prepare your dish to your liking. The best thing is that you can call in your order and take it home, place it on great dishes and pretend that you did all the work.
(5)Steve H.
I have to agree with Elliot at this point. I really like the concept of an Italian Choptle but the food was not executed as well and did not taste very good. I ordered the Piada (which is their wrap sandwich) with chicken. Then you go through the line for toppings for your sandwich, salad or pasta. The pasta sauces were runny and did not have a lot of flavor. The piada flatbread was not good. I should have taken the hint when nobody in front of me was ordering it. It was not great for a sandwich and when they heated it up on the stone, it was over heated and tasted a little burnt. On the bright side, the toppings were very tasty and fresh. The roasted artichoke hearts were worth the 8 bucks alone. Good salad dressings too. The staff was upbeat and very friendly. I'm not going to give up just yet because I love to support the local business. I will have to try the salad or pasta. The salads looked pretty good. Give it a try though.
(2)Ian D.
I can't disagree with these guys more. The food is good street food. It's priced well and they have some gourmet options that will surprise you. Also feel good knowing that by eating here you are supporting a local business that started in Columbus, Ohio. Contrary to rumors they are not owned by Chipotle, but they may put them or of business around here! Great atmosphere and very engaging employees. Keep it up!

Raw chicken in my pasta bowl the first time I went. I had gotten it to go, so I just picked the rest of the chikcen out and threw it away. I gave them another chance, but this time got the small pasta bowl/salad combo. I got a meatball in my pasta and creamy parmesean dressing for my salad and it was really tasty. The meatball was good, tender. But my favorite thing was the salad with the dressing. The Italian sodas are good too.

OMFG!!!!!!THIS place is AWESOME!!! I am kinda upset that I didnt go to the grand opening and get the free Piada for a year after tasting it today. It is in Mason which I rarely go to but since I happened to be in the area and hungry. I happened past this restaurant on my way to Walmart and like italian so figured i would stop. I could smack myself for not stopping earlier. They tout their selves as italian street food. but I think its more like an upscale fazoli's. They offer handmade pizza sticks and pasta along with custom made italian burritos. I like how you can customize your order with a variety of meat, sauce, and veggies and cheese..oh how i love cheese. I got all 3 kinds on my pasta with steak and alfredo/marinar mix with a dash of pesto aoli and bruschetta on top. It was Heaven! They have huge containers and I got it to go but ate the whole thing there! I didnt feel bad though because good food should be appreciated. Ciao Bella!!!!

Eaten here twice now. Both my boyfriend and I describe it as the Italian Chipotle. Which is just fine for us since we both love Italian food and we both love Chipotle. Both meals were good, I love the options. Definitely going to be on our rotation.
(5)Andrea C.
This place is what Chipotle wishes it was. The food is high quality awesomeness with a variety of fresh and unique items (peppadew peppers - hell yes!) and the service is quick, efficient and friendly. I get a grilled chicken salad with spinach and their Skinny Vin dressing and it easily trumps any salad I've had at high-end restaurants in Cincy and elsewhere. Lucky me - my favorite salad just happens to be in the boring suburbs, saving me a trip downtown or to OTR for the overrated restaurants everybody's always going on about. Perhaps the most amazing thing about his location is that it's staffed almost entirely by what appear to be high school and college students and the service has never been anything less than stellar. Even with a line out the door they get orders out quickly and correctly, handling special requests and uptight Mason housewives with a smile. This is huge, as my boyfriend and I have sworn off at least 3/4 of the other restaurants in the Deerfield area due to repeatedly shitty service. I could go on, but you get the point, If you haven't been here, go. Go now.
(5)Chris A.
Wow. This is a great concept and a delicious different way to eat Italian! I love the options to create your own meal with the fresh ingredients they offer! Also try the Italian sodas and teas. I will have to try more options the next few times I eat there!
(4)Christopher L.
This is the first time I tried piada and I'm not going to lie it isn't the best the portions are smaller than I though especially for the price they have a good selection but nothing really to go along side it. Like chips or anything not mention they kinda skim on the toppings. A little bit of this and a little bit of that not enough to be really filling I'm not really happy with the experience here and mop bucket right in the way of the hall to restroom def a no no
(2)P B.
Nice food..i dont remember what they call it, but its something like garlic bread..its too good..we tried only chicken items, they are good
(4)Janna G.
Fresh, fast, delicious with good service. We will definitely be coming back here! My husband calls it "Italian Chipotle."
(4)Maggie B.
Surprisingly Fresh, Tasty, and Inexpensive. Great option for a quick cheap bite. We shared the Chicken Fritta Piada. It was more than enough for 2 and tasty. The chicken was fried upon order and the dressing was flavorful. The spicy the peppers were a great fresh crunch and well balanced. The Piada cheese stick was also quite good and the Italian soda are a great paring for the lightish food.
(4)Eric R.
It's nice to see something a little different. Italian street food is not a term I think I've ever heard before but it suits the purpose of a quick, delightful lunch. Primarily based around pasta, Piada has a slug of tasty ingredients and sauces to toss into an enjoyable pasta dish. This makes well for an alternate but good lunch option. They are quick, well organized, and offer lots of options. Just a word of warning, they have a small option for a reason.

Tasty, fresh, wonderful assortment of ingredients, crazy fast and friendly service. There seem to be imitators of the Chipotle assembly line overtaking all cuisines (or, I guess, credit would actually go to Subway, however, the freshness factor and ingredient quality seems to be more of a Chipotle thing). A coworker was raving about Piada, and suggested that we go there for lunch. I scanned the menu online, and was pleased to see that it had some diet - and healthy friendly options (not just the usual weak crappy premade salads alongside a smorgasbord of nothing but noodles and pizza overload). We arrived during the usual busy lunch rush hour, but again, the assembly line made ordering and getting your food very quick and efficient. Since I was new to the concept, even though the workers were extremely busy, they were very patient and friendly with explaining my options and what all were in the ingredients. My coworker got a pasta bowl (I believe the only pasta option right now is angel hair, I assume because the the emphasis on freshness, and the thin pasta cooks so quickly). I ordered a salad bowl, with chicken and pancetta (um, yum! Where else can you get that option!?). I loaded up that bad boy with sundried tomatoes, Parmesan, roasted bell peppers, just about every fresh delicious ingredient that they had. We seated ourselves quickly and we both tucked in with gusto. My coworker had already been to Piada before, and he loved his pasta. My salad was absolutely delicious - restaurant quality even. However, I was not impressed at all with the calamari - it was cold and a little rubbery, and the breading was soft and falling off. I really only ordered it so I could sample it (damn you, gluten!), so my coworker polished it off since his pasta was not a huge portion. Overall, I would definitely go back for that salad again. I think the big drawback for me however is the price: you are guaranteed freshness and quality, and both are readily apparent in the food. However, my total bill was about $15, no beverage, and that just seems high for more of a fast food lunch. Again, however, next time I would skip the calamari and just get the salad, and I feel like the salad was a good value.
(3)Heather L.
Italian style Chipotle. Pick your own pasta, salad or wrap fillings... No limit. Always fresh toppings. I like the meatball pasta bowl, calamari salad, lobster bisque, and cannoli chips! Super friendly staff too!
(5)Suz M.
I was out shopping with my mom and we were both hungry. I suggested we try someplace different, as I couldn't face any typical fast food. It was a little confusing on how to order and what to order, but I eventually figured it out. I got a veggie piada and my mom got a bowl of past (can't remember what, but probably with just a marinara sauce and some vegetables.) I got zucchini and mushrooms and added on artichokes (for no extra cost!) The piada is a wrap sandwich and was super tasty. It cost about $14 for the both of us without drinks, so it's a little on the spendy side if you're looking for a cheap lunch. However, I definitely recommend it, and I can't wait to go back and try it again.

Quick Summary: Fresh and delicious food, that's made quick before your eyes. It's a great place to stop for a yummy lunch that won't break the calorie bank. Certain cuisines evoke certain images and expectations in my head... like Vietnamese food or Mexican... I just can't imagine those ever being 'fine dining' and with French and Italian... I can't see those ever being 'street food'... but alas Piada does a very nice job of brining that feel of street dining to a cuisine that normally involves sitting down and picking out a complementary bottle of wine. The best way to describe this is Chipotle but with pasta. You pick your pasta, your protein, your sauce and voila! A quick, fresh, delicious meal... and if you pick it right, it could be pretty healthy too. I went with their salad and Tuscan chicken. nicely prepared and fresh veggies, it filled me up without making me stuffed. I liked the variety of soft drinks they had as well. Yes I know if I'm trying to be healthy I need to avoid these... but Italian sodas are soo much better than our regular sodas. Definitely recommended as a workday lunch stop or for a quick dinner before catching a movie!

Reviews were mixed, but I was looking for a healthier fast-cas option. This hit the spot, bit of a wait at 7pm, but was pretty cleared out by 7:45. Menu is simple and not overwhelming, they focus on a few things, but you can customize a bit. The whole thing looks, feels and setup is very much like a Chipotle franchise. The line went pretty fast and my salad met me at the end of the line. I got the Balsamic Chicken Salad, regular sized, for $7.95. I also added the Garlic Dough & Italian soda for a "Street Combo." The Salad was was fresh and made well. Good ratio of ingredients and portion was filling. It was comprised of Grilled chicken with a Balsamic glaze, red onions, bruschetta tomatoes, spinach, feta, spiced pecans & balsamic dressing. The Piada Garlic Dough was fresh and very tasty, I really did not want to eat the whole thing, but couldn't resist! Lemon Tea is quite sweet, like a tea lemonade mix. Overall, I think this place does a good job and the specific menu will help them to focus on what they do best. Cannoli Chips look really good, may have to come back and try them next time!
(4)Sable B.
To be honest, I was hoping for more options and more 'street food' but I like the place. You can choose from a salad, bowl of pasta or piada (it's a burrito!). Then you have options, much like at Subway/Chipotle/Qdoba. Pick what you want and then you're on your way. I grabbed a piada this time, but think I'll go back and try the pasta. And the soups. It's good food and everything was incredibly fresh. My only wish is that the calamari be warmed up before it's used. It wasn't cold... but chilly? It was a bit odd.
(4)Tara S.
Really enjoyed this "build your own" salads, pastas, or Italian wraps. I had a salmon salad with loads of the "complimentary" toppings, and the Skinny vinaigrette. Really delicious and I didn't feel guilty after eating it! If they served beer and wine it would be perfect. Husband had chicken diavolo pasta and liked it, just enough spice. Also, they have really nice, helpful employees!
(4)Caroline C.
Knowing a little bit about the development group behind this restaurant (ties to BDI, Bravo/Brio, Doody family) I would have guessed that a 'piada' was something totally made up. But apparently, at least according to wikipedia, this is a real thing. I doubt in Italy that a piada is the size of your head, but hey, this is America! I would say that Piada was a total disappointment, but really, what should I have expected? A description of "the Italian Chipotle" isn't really all that enticing to begin with. Sounded like carb overload. But aside from all that I really just wished it had tasted better. The piada wrap tastes a little burned... and not that sought-after char like some pizzas, but just like, burnt particles. The layout of all the ingredients was gorgeous. Everything looked so fresh and tasty. But alas, looks were deceiving. Once everything combined into a piada, it just tasted muddled. Not at all fresh or delicious. If I find myself here again, perhaps I'll try a salad and hope for a more harmonious blend of flavors. **I do want to mention that the staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. Since it's a relatively new place I'm sure they get asked the same questions over and over, but they didn't seem to mind.
(2)Tina G.
Most Piada locations are nestled in plain view of some of the hottest spots in the Columbus area. This location might be a hot spot in Greater Cincinnati but with traffic as it is here it is not easy to get to. I would imagine it's convenient only to the P&G office across the street. Go on the weekends for lunch or a late dinner on the weeknights. You probably won't have to deal with the congested traffic that is far too frequent. Piada food rocks. Love the stick and pasta bowls.
(4)Alyssa K.
I'm surprised this place only has 3 1/2 stars. My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here. Like other people have mentioned this restaurant is setup like Chipotle. You can make your own piada which is an Italian style burrito or quesadilla, a pasta, or a salad. If you don't want to make your own they also have a small menu of chefs special options. Because it was our first time we tried a chicken pesto pasta and a steak piada off the little menu. They also have a fun little menu of sides such as calamari, crispy chicken, and cannoli chips & dip. We got a side order of cannoli chips and dip for dessert and they were really good. It's basically a deconstructed cannoli. They give you the outer cannoli shell broken into little chip like pieces and covered in powdered sugar & the dip is the inside filling of a cannoli with chocolate chips. Although I wonder what an person would say about the cannoli side that they have here, I have a feeling they would say that it's too sweet~ They also have a cute Italian soda machine. The raspberry soda was deLISH! My only complaint about this place is that although the food was good I came out feeling super overloaded with carbs... But I guess that's the nature of pasta so just know when u go!
(4)Andrew N.
Super fast. Staff is fantastic. Great taste food. Salads are yummy. Tuscan chicken has just the right amount of spice. You pay for what ya get and that's quality. If you want fast and cheap go to subway.
