New Hong Kong is a casual Chinese takeout restaurant located in the central business district of Martins Ferry. The place is not fancy which is order at the counter with open kitchen and a few tables for eating in. A pot of hot tea sits on the counter. As for the Chinese food, it's the usual suspects served here, a standard Chinese American menu including Cantonese, Hunan and Szechuan dishes and items (most under $10) plus chef's specialties ($8.25-$12.20). 29 Lunch Specials ($5.25-$6.25) served (until 3PM) with rice (fried or white) and choice of soup are offered. 29 Combination Plates ($6.50-$8.20) served with pork fried rice & egg roll are also offered. I stopped in here for dinner takeout recently. I got the C16 Roast Pork Lo Mein ($7.05) with Pork Fried Rice and Egg Roll. The food was cooked to order and packed and ready to go in just under 10 minutes. The portion of food was a good size, lo mein and fried rice packed in tight in a rectangular plastic microwaveable container and egg roll packed separately. The lo mein entree was very hot and had tender pieces of roast pork strips, onions, cabbage tossed with soft noodles, slightly oily texture. The fried rice (light yellow color) had onions, scallions and plenty pieces of roast pork (some lean some fat) in soft cooked rice. The egg roll was wide and filled with cabbage, ground pork, and seasonings. Overall, the food was fresh and tasted pretty good. This was definitely enough Chinese food for my takeout dinner.
