We ate last-night at the Kings Country Inn. We had sautéed frog legs, it is the best in town. Also had a scrumptious baked potato with all the trimmings, hot slaw which was homemade hot and delicious. Started off with a salad that was fresh and excellent. Finished off with desert heated homemade strawberry rubbarb pie with vanilla ice cream. The large glass of cold beer was good tasting and at $1.60 is the best value in town. The help is very friendly and caring especially the server Julie. The small diner is like home. We visit quite frequently and enjoy every time we go. Roger & Joy

Not the cleanest. Food is good service is good. Pies are pretty good too. Just dark and dingy. I go when in the mood for fish.

Definitely a fan! Their fish is the best, but get there early during Lent - the crowds are a bit much. The Jack Salmon (walleye) is very good, and of course their Fishettes are awesome. Definitely try the hot slaw! Never had a dessert, never have had room -- Large portions.

We visited late on Friday afternoon. We anticipated a Lenten, fish eating crowd and we were correct. By the time we left at 5:30, it was packed. There is a small bar in this old time restaurant and it must be a cheap drink. My hubby had a nice sized glass of Amber Bock for $1.50. Don't see a draft beer that cheap too many places. We had the fish. I had 1/2 order of the "fish-ettes" and my DH had the fish filet dinner. My 3 fishettes were nice size and lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. His filet was thin and breaded heavily. Kind of salty too. We would both go with the fishettes in the future. We saw a burger go by our table that looked great. We had tater babies as our side and paid a $3 upcharge for the salad bar. The tater babies were breaded potato wedges. We saw later that there was mac and cheese as well as stewed tomatoes available as sides that we weren't aware of. It pays to be a regular at a place like this. But everyone treated us very nicely, even though they didn't know us. I have to comment on the salad bar. It was good. There was even do it yourself hot slaw. They had a pea salad that took me back to my childhood. Homemade pie! Lots of variety. I took a piece of the peanutbutter to go. Oh wow. It was so rich and good. We split it and it was perfect. We will return to this out of the way gem. It was a bit of a drive, but worth it. You won't be disappointed.
