Max & Erma’s Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The second we stepped foot into the Cemetery Rd Max & Erma's I noticed a stale, somewhat mildew-y smell as if they haven't thoroughly cleaned the place in years. Our service was ok. The main reason why we come to M&E's is for the tortilla soup/burger. When I asked about swapping out my fries, our server recommended the grilled asparagus. It was well seasoned, though a bit oily. My wife's order was wrong and we couldn't track down our server until I was almost done with my meal. I found it VERY curious when I went to fill out the online survey it said that someone else had already entered my code to complete the survey. I would definitely come to Max & Erma's again but I would not come to the Cemetery Rd location ever again because of the smell.

Gave up trying to get them to get my carry out order correct. I would always order the fish and replace the fries with a baked potato. This slight alteration always caused a screw up. Either no tarter sauce, or missing slaw , or even a missing baked potato. Last time it happened they promised to mail me a coupon but it never came. I will return the no act and never return to this particular restaurant. I never had a problem with the Dublin restaurant and now go there when I am craving the fish

I'd give it no stars if possible... We went on a Sunday evening. Service was terrible. Food was awful. The order was never right - my son ordered a burger with mozzarella and it came with American. We sent it back and they scraped off the old cheese and put on the new, leaving the residue from the old cheese. The wait for our food was beyond ridiculous. Each time our server came by, the first words out of her mouth were "I'm sorry...." We will never be back.

This is the absolute worst Max & Erma's in Columbus! We went in a second time to give it another chance and was disappointed yet again. This is the second time that the server we had found it necessary to tell us how much they hate their job and working on the weekends which is not something your customers want to hear. The "cheese soup" which is advertised as tortilla soup was cold with nothing but fatty chunks of chicken,it was sent back. Then our server that made it clear how much she hates her job every time she touched our table got all of our orders wrong. Oh, and it smells like a dirty basement. The entire lunch was a waste of time and we will never return to this location again. Go to the Dublin location if you choose to dine at a M&E. Its better and not far away.

Ok, so it took me 6 months to drag my husband here, and in the past 2 weeks we've been here about 6 times. Management is great, and our servers have been friendly & awesome. Burgers were cooked perfectly (a med-rare was warm, red like it should be). special orders were done correctly, without complaint, and the bartenders were knowledgeable. I enjoy coming here for the atmosphere & the food.

I liked the Aunt Patty but wish it had more burger and less bread. The free cookie Wednesday is a nice touch and if you sign up for their loyalty club you get a free chips and queso. My service was excellent. I have been to other Max and Erma's and this expeience was by far the best. Actually this was the best service I have received at any restaurant in a while. Kudos to Max and Erma's

Max and Erma's is what it is. It rode the wave of faux-local, somewhat quality and overpriced restaurants with endless kitschy baubles on the wall. After the wave crashed, Max and Erma's contracted, as was to be expected. I have been going to various M&Es since I was a kid and nostalgia dictates that I remember it tasting a lot better. On this particular visit, it took a long time to get seated and served. It seemed like they were understaffed so maybe someone called off. The prices seemed kind of high and the quality of the food was only so-so. I was underwhelmed by the amount of fries that we all got, but the burger portions were big as always. They had a couple of craft beer selections on tap but nothing to write home about.

Sometimes I dont know if I went to the same Max & Erma's as everyone else did. Because it seems like everyone else loves it and I'm talking about the never empty place at Easton or other bravo reviews here on Yelp. I hated it. I will never ever go back again period I ordered a tortilla burger combo that comes with a cup of soup and a chocolate chip cookie. The soup, unfortunately tasted just like those 4 for 5 canned chunky crap from a grocery store. Then the burger, it was just a huge version of the big mac, only more expensive. The side of fries are not seasoned at all, tasted like bad oil. The Cookie!!!! I dont even know cookies can be made to taste that mad my Lord.... The service on the other hand, was pretty good. The Lady was pretty nice and the drinks were always filled up on time.

Arrived about 4:45 on Saturday. Was seated immediately. Normally we just have the burgers but we were both in the mood for something a little different. Our waiter Jonathon gave us a great recommendation on the sweet & spicy salmon & shrimp. My wife also enjoyed her Tuscan shrimp & chicken special. Service was very good. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived but was filling pretty quickly.

Went here for lunch yesterday, always have great food. Started off with the free good neighbors pretzels, they were great. I prefer to dip them in my chicken tortilla soup instead of the cheese sauce they come with. The tortilla soup was great as well. Then had my normal buffalo chicken sandwich, very good. Then ended with their free cookies! Normally have good food and service, the free stuff just makes it even better.

I've never had a bad experience at this location, but I can't say it has ever been fantastic either. Our food has always arrived as ordered and in a very timely fashion.

I don't know many places one can go with the family and everyone walks out feeling full and happy. This place is one of them. Kids eat free once a week and that makes the adults happy. The place does get crowded on that night, but everyone has to cut corners somewhere, so most don't mind. The food was so-so. This is a chain, so no real complaints. If the kids clean their plates it is a miracle, but no miracles this night. Hehe. They wanted the sundae bar but didnt get it (I don't know how we made it out of their alive), and didn't really fight about it. Food was a little above average, ambiance friendly and staff was helpful.

I stopped in here this past week to have dinner with a friend of mine. We were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken. I ordered the sangria -- which was ok. Not the best sangria, but it worked for the time being. I ordered the soup/sandwich combo given that I was sick of eating all the other stuff recently (i.e. chicken, salad, etc.) The half of reuben sandwich and the bowl of tortilla soup was pretty good. Not bad for $7.99. I was quite surprised that the reuben sandwich was very tasty given that several places around town cant get the sandwich right. My friend had ordered the same combo, but with the club sandwich on rye. Her sandwich came out on white bread instead of rye. We told the server about the error, and he offered to make the sandwich correct. Well it came out on rye bread, but it was half the size of the same sandwich on white bread! What?!?!? Really? You asked for another type of bread and they cut the sandwich practically in half? Really?!? Then the manager (I am assuming who this guy was) came over and greeted us with a 'Hi!" (awkward moment!!! No, "Hi, I am Bob, I am the manager, and I want to apologize for the mishap ...") He then proceeded to apologize to my friend about her sandwich coming out wrong. She accepted and then we finished our meal. Well it wasnt a minute or two later when another woman came up (is she the supervisor, the restaurant owner or just some chick walking the floor?), at this time, she squatted down to talk to us at 'face level'. What?!?!? Really?!? She then too apologized for the sandwich mishap. Um, ok. To top it all off our waiter came by again to apologize. Good grief people, leave us alone, stop apologizing and let us finish our food and conversation. I have been here many times and service has been so-so. I can now understand how Max & Ermas has been having some problems over the years and the other reviews for this location. I just hope things get better for this location if they want to stick around.

Went to this place few months back and there were 4 of us and all ordered soup & salad , and it took an hour to receive our food. Then last night went back to get carry out order and ordered same thing soup& salad told me 10 minutes so I wait 20 go inside to pick it up and waited another 20 minutes then got food home and didn't have the salad dressing we orderd for our salad. So we probably won't go back for a while.

We came to Max & Erma's for a quick lunch between meetings. It had that same mildewy washcloth "stank" that I smelled at Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails in downtown Columbus. What's up with that? Wash your washcloths people!!! The restaurant and menu reminded me of a Chili's...salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, etc. I opted for the Tomato Mozzarella Sandwich: Tomato-basil spread on toasted Ciabatta bread, with layers of mozzarella, fresh basil & oven-roasted tomatoes. Served with Baby Greens Salad. The sandwich was just okay to me, nothing very special. The salad served on the side was strange. A pile of greens doused in a vinagrette with a few sundried tomatoes strewn on top. Not very appetizing. A few of my coworkers got the tortilla soup and all commented that it was tasty. You can't really expect much at Max & Erma's. It's a perfectly fine place to grab some lunch, but don't go in expecting to get spectacular food.

Been there three times Couldn't stand it any time. First time we had just moved here, it was late, the drinks we ordered were watered down, the food was cold the service was sucky. The second time we brought our daughter during the day at a non busy hour. We waited 30 minutes to be seated yet there were plenty of tables open, then from there it took them 20 minutes to get our drink order 10 minutes to bring our drinks and then the food was just terrible. The last time we went, pregnant. Yep. We were on our way to walking out (I was very pregnant then and didn't care) we had waited for 20 minutes and we had 3 EMPLOYEES just staring at us like we had a dick on our face. I don't give a crap if you're the busboy, toilet cleaner, or maintenance guy you see a very pregnant woman with swollen feet, a soldier, a child, and then some random fat lady standing there, you usually go get someone and say uh hey they need to be seated. Anyhow we ordered the food, I had to send mine back they did it wrong, my mil was disappointed with hers(no surprise there it wasn't a 30 dollar plate so get over it) and they screwed up my daughters and my husbands dish. So 3 of us a fail dish and one of us just very picky. From there our glasses were empty most of the time too. Luckily for me after I ate the food came right back up seeing as it didn't settle well with me. I don't think I'll ever go back.

I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Salad, they give you a side salad size bowl wth a little chese added & a few little pices of chicken, there was maybe 2oz. & the lettuce was wet not draned well, & they charge 7.99 for it. My daughter had a very thin Rubin & what was supposed to be seasoned rice that was nasty, it was white rice with some carrot pieces in it, no seasoning on it, We won't be back.

I have always been a fan of Max and Erma's. I have eaten at a few in Maumee, Ohio...Findlay, Ohio....and now here in Columbus (well Hilliard). I liked this location as much as the rest. This was my second visit and I was again pleased with the food and the service. I have only one small complaint...the onion rings were not seasoned vary well. No biggie there....super small cross to bare. I will eat there again and I would recommend it to others.

Ate here a few weeks ago and won't be returning. Ordered the tortilla soup which I'm not sure where the chef got his recipe for tortilla soup, but what Max & Erma's serve is definately not tortilla soup! Its more like a cheesy cold chicken soup. My friend ordered a meal that was supposed to come with their much advertised fresh bake cookies. The cookie did not come with the meal, but after we paid the tab and waited an additional 10 minutes. Just a suggestion...keep a supply of cookies in the oven baking so people don't have to wait an hour for them. Service was supper slow, considering the waitress only had our table plus two others.

HAIR IN FOOD AND BAD SERVICE! I have stayed at the adjoining hotel many times for work and unfortunately this was all that was open. Every time I eat here I kick myself! My server was frozen. Not friendly. The tortilla soup is disgusting and tastes like fake cheese with Asian wontons instead of crispy tortilla strips. Not to mention when I went to eat my togo salad the next day, there was a long blonde hair in it!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm brunette. Makes me want to vomit

On a very cold and somewhat snowy day, we headed up to M&E for some lunch. I started with the Chicken Tortilla Soup which was wonderful. It was creamy without being to heavy. Just the right spice level as well. For my main course, I had the philly steak sandwich which I have had in the past. Back then it was ok but they seem to have changed it since then in a way that was a huge improvement. The steak was very thin and tender. I will get this again. On the service front, the guy who served our table was kind, attentive, and fun.

My wife and I stopped here for a bite after a long absence ( from eating here). Wow, was this a mistake! Upon entering, we experienced a 5 minute wait to even be acknowledged at the hostess stand. The food was absolutely horrible. Cheap ingredients with little imagination in the prep. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT done here. It's very overpriced and service is well below average. Time to wrap it up M&E. Throw in the towel!

The kids and I came in for dinner with a friend and her daughter. Not only did we wait very long for food that was cold and burnt, my 7yr old son's burger-bun had mold on it. Very disgusting! What was very upsetting is that he had already ate one of the sliders before we noticed the mold on the other one. Max & Erma's, where is your integrity??? In addition to all of this, my daughter's order was wrong. I ordered her a simple grilled cheese and got Mac & Cheese instead. Not to mention, everyone else had their drinks but my 2yr old. The poor girl waited on milk the entire time until right before the food arrived. First excuse from the waitress is that she didn't hear me order milk and the second was it took so long because they had to make her milk at the bar. ????? The worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. :(:( Never Again!

Incredibly slow and poor service. We were a group of 7 and so we expected some "slowness" and planned to be patient. However, there was a group 6 seated at the same time and we watched them receive prompt service. They finished at least 45 minutes before us. Free cookie Wednesday, but we were faced with the choice of waiting 10 more minutes for the cookies (and check) or leaving without the cookies. Two of us ordered side salads. Well after the salads came out our server asked if we received bread sticks. We did not. So he promptly brought out one breadstick for the two salads. 6 of 7 meals came out at one time. The 7th meal did not come out until most of the others were finished with their meals. Server blamed the system (IT problem), but it didn't seem to affect any of the other tables around us. No recognition of the slowness or delay on the one meal. With a new Rusty Bucket across the street with good service, and a number of other good restaurants in the area, it will be tough to come back.

We use to go to this Max and Ermas every week. But the last 4 times have been very bad. The food order is screwed up or the apps come out 1 minute before you entrees. Not a great place any more. Sad really. That use to be our place. BYE BYE

We used to be a regular at this max & erma's, but the last few times the service and food was so so. And then there was today ... We went for an early dinner (4 pm) and got up and left without seeing any wait staff m I don't know if it was between shifts or what, but we saw a waitress stop at the table next to us and she didn't even stop. It will be a long time till we stop at this one

We went here for the first time. We had passed several of these restaurants since recently moving to Columbus, but had never been. We didn't care for their table set up. They sat us right next to another party. We couldn't really have a conversation. Then halfway through the meal they seated a party of 14 close by. Of course that wasn't their fault. We initially had a waiter that was friendly and attentive until the food was served. Then he was nowhere to be found. (He was not serving the large party). We ended up going to the front to ask the manager for our Check. He took good care of us. The food was excellent!

Awful dinner. It went from bad to worse. Seated by the kitchen (got to hear all the loud conversations in the kitchen) stuck with an inexperienced but cheerful server who made mistake after mistake. Asked for sweet tea, got regular tea -- twice, got soup at same time as dinner and not at same time as others at the table got their soup, no dressing on the side as requested, in fact no dressing or bread stick at all, no water or tea refills while server hid in the kitchen. Ended with a very dirty women's restroom. Never again!

Ok so I'm in town for work from out of state .. I've eaten here 3 times now and after tonight never again... Last two times food was average at best with horrid service . Sanatigans amongst employees , female serves losing their cool in front of customers , bartender playing games... But tonight service was the worse I've had in while and food was worse then last 2 visits .. Chicken tenders good but fries plain and 3 had 3 had seasoning , coleslaw no flavor...oh I waited 12 minute for silverware ... Really? And then server was like so non pleasing then brings me drink with no ice and walks away... Huh??? Then TCM sandwich my buddy had NO FLAVOR with extra salad ??? $10 come on.. Then talk up free cookies ... And come out cold and stuck to pan and frosting was rock hard with cookie hard to couldn't even eat it .. Server tell me to my face sorry today we mass produce them so there not good .. What??? Really then tells me she will tell manager and by the graces of God manager is at my table in under a minute everything ok??? Ok I say but you know it's not , you just walk away where's the service ?!? Never again ... Wow what a shame

The food and the service is average. Its a good place to bring kids, but the menu needs healthy options. It is very hard to find anything below 1000 calories.

For me, Max and Erma's has become a thing of the past. I'm only 37 but I'm old enough to remember when each table had a telephone and you could call a total stranger and say Hi! The decor used to be original, the atmosphere was fun and the food was quality burgers, fries and genuine greasy fried appetizers. Now it's just another generic "family oriented" crappy chain restaurant. Shame on me for continuing to submit myself time and time again hoping for something different. I believe that's actually the definition of insanity! Anyway, my last two visits have been abysmal with today's dinner being the final nail in the coffin. This afternoon we visited this Cemetery Rd. location with my 88 year old Grandpa and his 88 year old lady friend. We requested a specific table nearer to the door (for obvious reasons) and were met with an eye roll from the hostess. We waited patiently while a table was cleared for us and we were seated. About five to ten minutes later our server arrived, thanked us for our patience and took our drink order. He was friendly and polite, he was the best part of our whole dining experience. After bringing our drinks he took our order and disappeared, only appearing a couple of times to bring my husband his salad and a couple of refills on his soda. We waited 40 minutes for our meals. Let me assure you we didn't have anything special, we had a pick two (salad and soup), two half-size Apple Pecan Chicken salads and an order of Chicken Parm (which I'm pretty sure starts out frozen). The food was fine, no complaints there. Its a chain restaurant and we had properly prepared chain restaurant food. Fresh salads, predictably flavored soup and entrees. While we were waiting the 40 minutes for our food I was checking out the surroundings and watching the staff. Allow me to point out that when we were seated both tables on either side of us were dirty. Another server cleaned the one to my right after we had been sitting there for about 30 minutes. No one ever cleaned the one to my left. Every table that was within my sight was being waited on by our server, including two large groups. I only ever saw one other server, the one who cleaned the table to my right. The hostesses congregated at the hostess stand doing hostess things, Ie: basically nothing. Once our food arrived our server checked on us a couple of times and brought a few refills. The manager did a breeze by as were eating, asking how things were without actually stopping at our table. Clearly he didn't really care to be bothered by the people who make his paycheck possible. Shortly after we had finished eating and were waiting for our cookies I saw the other server tell our server he was being given another table. He asked if anyone else could please take it and she told him no one else was available. He was visibly frustrated. When he came by our table to take our checks I complimented him on his hustle. I also asked him to send the manager by our table so I could tell the manager how well he was doing. This is where the whole evening went bad. The manager came to the table and I said to him: "I wanted to let you know that our server is doing a great job. I know he's been busy because we've been here over an hour and no one has even bussed this table next to us. I can tell he's frustrated by how many tables he's been given in quick succession." The manager then replied: "Well, I've got servers in the back who have eight tables while he's only got four so I don't know what to tell you about his "frustration". Then he proceeded to tell me it's the server's responsibility to get that table cleaned. Now maybe they have some issues with this server, I don't know. But I've never had a manager take a compliment and turn it into something negative. I know I just stared at him for a beat before finally saying - "Wow, I just wanted to praise him, I didn't mean to make you defensive." he of course continued on the defense by saying he wasn't being defensive and then walked away. All of us at the table were left flabbergasted. I emailed Max & Erma's cooperate office and suggested additional training and a proper reprimand for this manager. Now I know Max and Erma's has been struggling having filed for Chapter 11 back in 2009 and has been trying to "re-brand" themselves to the public. Unfortunately, remodeling your restaurants and creating new cocktails and food items for your menu should not be your primary focus. Hire people who are excited to bring forth your image, train them extensively and of course pay them well! Starbucks and Disney World are some of the most popular places on Earth for a reason. Their staff creates an experience for their guests. Once that experience has been created people will line up for your product. For me Max and Erma's is done. The time before today I discovered they changed their recipe for the buffalo chicken sandwich. I personally no longer have a reason to come here.

This Max & Ermas is not great. Today the chicken tortilla soup was lukewarm and the salad was missing an ingredient and the breadstick. I usually do carry out rather than dining at this location. I am usually pretty happy with the food when I do carry out, although you can count on being put on hold for several minutes every time you call.

The moment we walked in, we should have walked out. The smell alone was that of a dirty restaurant. The two sofas in the front to sit down on were filthy. There was no way I was going to sit down wearing khaki pants. I would have certainly come up with lovely stains on them if I had. Even the backrests of the booths were dirty. Gross. Moving on, the service was very good, that's what the one star is for. The food was pretty bleh. Two of my daughters had grilled cheese sandwiches, one wasn't even melted in the middle, and both of them were stale, must have been sitting out for a while before they were brought to our table. The macaroni and cheese my other daughter had was clearly at least two to three days old. Gross. My chicken sandwich was ok and the tortilla burgers my son and husband had were good. That's it. Nothing else. Never returning. Clean it up, it's gross.
