I met Mike G here for lunch yesterday and we found that it is in the same plaza, but in a different space. The L-shaped strip mall has been altered (part demolished) and the restaurant is in a very similar space on one end of the still standing side. They are not yet able to serve alcohol, but they have the same delicious 3-course lunch (our fav Salmon Teriyaki) although the price has been raised $2.00. No worries, because it is still worth it.

Someone recently posted a picture of Mr. Sushi's Teriyaki Salmon With Grilled Vegetables and it looked really good. So I forwarded it to my fellow seafood fan and lunch partner, Anna H., who agreed that it looked pretty interesting. Lunch plans were made, the date arrived and so there we were sitting in a booth enjoying our lunch together. I really wish I'd known about this restaurant earlier. It's a clean, contemporary sushi restaurant tucked in the middle of a nondescript strip mall, and it's worth seeking out. That Teriyaki Salmon that I mentioned? It's one of their many lunch specials and let me tell you, it was excellent. It's a perfectly cooked, tender, juicy salmon filet sitting on a bed of fresh grilled vegetables. You also get a fresh small salad, a steaming cup of miso soup and a side of rice included with this meal and it's only $7.95. It's a deal folks and with the attentive service and nice surroundings, well, I'm a fan of this place, so is Anna H. We'll be going back there again soon.

The whole strip center is gone. Demolished. Where did Mr. Sushi go? Are they relocating or just gone.

Two stars because service was slow and staff did not seem very friendly when first arrived. She seemed annoyed and irritated that we came in at 8:30pm when they close at 10! Walked in and nobody greeted us until moments later. Usually when you walk into a sushi place the sushi chefs would greet u but nope not even a hello. No refill on drinks what so ever and didn't bother to ask. Sushi was decent but I've had better. I miss the old mr sushi when it was better quality and service. I won't be back...and it wasn't even busy!
(2)Mary B.
A diamond in the rough. I kept this place as a secret and now everyone has caught on. Amazing sushi specials, especially during lunch. Quick service and fast food preparation. In and out within 30 min. The lunch specials come with a soup and salad along with two rolls, all for ! 8.95. Hits the spot, not to full.
(4)Meghan M.
The sushi is excellent and the presentation is great, too! Everything we had was very fresh and flavorful! This will now be my go-to for sushi that doesn't break the bank! Can't wait to go back!!
(5)Daneé J.
I started off with a salad and miso soup which were AMAZING. The salad had the best ginger dressing I'd ever had. I finished both of those then the wait for my sushi seemed a little long. The sushi chefs seemed to just be starring into space. I assumed more chefs were in the back. The sushi was very delicious! I got two fried rolls, and was not disappointed. I am usually not a huge fried sushi gal, but it was great. Service and atmosphere were nice and quaint. Family friendly.

What a very pleasant surprise! I had been having a hankering for some sushi for quite some time so Mr. Sushi seemed like it was worth a trip. I was seated promptly in their very bright, minimally decorated dining area. It is clean, bright, and pleasant, but nondescript in terms of decor. I did not feel out of place in my jean shorts and t-shirt. There were several different types of diners, from the just out of work business types in nicer clothes to the full families with smaller kids. It was refreshing because sushi places can sometimes cater to more the date crowd. The menu is quite expansive (and reasonably priced). They did have a large amount of hibachi and teryaki dishes, I saw several other diners getting some very tasty looking dishes. I went for some of my favorite comfort foods: agedashi tofu: small, bite sized, and well seasoned. The broth had this delicious smokey aftertaste that was so pleasant vegetable rolls: they had a large assortment and some unique ones (love the use of mango). all were reasonably priced and very tasty. I loved the fact, too, my hot tea came in a full pot. I'm a HUGE tea drinker so the ability to simply pour my own (and down the entire pot myself) is always a plus. I did see their wine list, it seemed decent, but my go to drink with sushi is always green tea. Overall, I liked the ambiance (not fussy, clean, simple), the service (incredibly nice, professional) and the food. I'll definitely be back soon.

I have been here three times now. The first time - I thought, "yea - I can dig it". Second and third time - maybe I hadn't brought a shovel, I dunno. The dumpling soup - good. Very hit and miss on the rolls....spring rolls/tuna tataki - something not quite right. Sashimi - is always a win for me....yellowtail was not as fresh as I anticipated once but other selections were decent. The restaurant is always clean and service pretty attentive. Decor is on point.

I've been here so many times I've actually stopped "checking in" in attempt to stave off rumors of a possible addiction and intervention mutterings. Look, they're right in my neighborhood, the fish is exceptionally fresh (& I'm OCD in this department) and if preferred offer soy paper - in leu of nori. Apart from the freshness, a big make it or break it for me...Thou Shalt Not Drown Thy Sushi! You ordered sushi because you like the delicate and diverse flavors of the fish, right? Sushi obliterated by a sauce kills the very taste of the fish that you've ordered. There are no unnecessary drownings here, so for those who prefer to have their palates shellacked with eel, wasabi mayo etc. you may not enjoy dining here. If I dine in, I sit at the sushi bar where I hypnotically watch the chefs assemble each dish with fastidious detail that feels elegant without being compulsive; movement is economical, precise and a bit meditative. Note: I've never ordered off the regular menu - just sushi. Eat here. It's good.
(5)Erin R.
We really enjoyed Mr. Sushi and plan to return (we've gotten their take-out a couple of times, but this was my first dine-in experience). The atmosphere is very casual, so I didn't feel out of place having my small kids with me. I wouldn't call the service terribly warm - a little rushed/short but polite enough. It wasn't terribly crowded on a weeknight. They have booths, tables, and sushi bar seating. We had a few rolls and edamame. The rolls were a good size for a reasonable price. Your basics were in the $3-5 range, with a handful of special rolls costing more in the $8-12 range. The fish all tasted fresh & was delicious! As a mom, I really appreciate a low-key sushi joint with good value. I'll be back with my sushi-loving kids!
(4)Nick M.
I've had some really good sushi here, but my last visit I got food poisioning....proceed with caution
(3)Kent M.
Great sushi find today late lunch. Much better than previous find. Great service and nice setting for just right food experience.
(5)Leeot M.
One of the best sushi places in columbus. Staff is always very friendly and the sushi is always quick and very good
(5)Maxy F.
My favorite sushi place in town! I love a majority of their rolls. I get carry out pretty often, and when I have sushi cravings this is my spot! Always great service. The rest of the menu items though are nothing to brag about. Which is unfortunate since I love this place. I've tried a few rice and noodle dishes and thought they were just kinda bland. Great place for a date night. My husband and I love going here!
(4)Charles L.
Mr. Sushi is the best sushi in Columbus. I have no clue how they get such fresh fish in Columbus, Ohio. Everything is incredibly fresh. Unbelievably fresh. I go here as much as I can. Dine-in or take-out. Doesn't matter. This is the only sushi I will eat in Columbus. I'm a snob from Montreal that appreciates good sushi, and this place provides that for me. Love it. Their specialty rolls are phenomenal, but I usually keep it old school and order sashimi or their basic rolls, because I can't get enough of the freshness of the fish--especially the salmon and the tuna. Do yourself a favor and order some salmon sashimi or nigiri. Love this place! By the way, if you order enough rolls (I think 5) and dine in, you'll receive your sushi on an "adorable" little wooden boat, and women seem to love that.
(5)Rebecca L.
Do yourself a favor and get the kinki roll. I'm embarrassed to say it's the only one Ive gotten since I've only ever gotten it take out in passing, but MAN it is good. Miso soup wasn't the greatest. Ppl who work there are always so friendly when I pick up. I'll update my review once I get to sit in there!
(4)Patricia A.
Delicious, fast, courteous, attentive, and the lunch special prices are friggin' awesome. They also have a few noodle dishes and authentic Korean bibibamp even if you're not a sushi person. Definitely coming back!
(5)Nikalete F.
Love the rolls here. Often go here with coworkers, great service with a large group! The specialty rolls are amazing.
(5)Mindy L.
In all fairness, this is the only place I've had sushi in town other than Molly Woo's. While Molly Woo's is good, they really know what they're doing here. About once a month I have a day when I run errands from morning til evening. This is always my treat to myself for lunch that day to help make it not seem so terrible. Normally I don't spend $20 on lunch for one. Its a bit pricey but it's so good! I always get the 2004 roll (my favorite). I usually throw in a second one and try something new. I can recommend the kinky roll and the lobster roll too. I'm usually in a hurry so I don't get a dinner but if I can ever convince (or blackmail) my husband into going out for sushi I will definitely do a follow-up. Service is pretty fast for lunch and the servers ares really sweet.
(5)Quiana T.
Great quick to go order. Staff was friendly.
(4)Josie G.
I called in an order for pick up. And my Gyoza steamed dumplings were so hard... But tasty. The Udon soup was completely flavorless. I have eaten here a handful of times and the sushi is amazing. But the other food is not great.
(3)Kaleesa S.
Great service and wonderful food!! I had the Chicken Teriyaki and it was very tender. The sauce was flavorful along with the vegetables. My boyfriend got the Tempura Roll & Trust Me Roll!! I've never seen him so quiet. He loved it!! We will be returning again! :)
(5)B B.
Wow am I so glad to have found this place!! I'm very picky about my sushi and they didn't disappoint. I just wish they had a list of sauces you use to dip some rolls in.
(4)J M.
Have been going there since its inception. The quality of service has dwindled over the years. The sushi is still great and I have no complaints about it. The serving staff are at best sloppy. The lady never smiles, and the guy makes a mess of the order. We had ordered two appetizers and our main course. The appetizers arrived well after we were half way through the meal. And then only after a reminder that the appetizers were missing. It is to be noted that the restaurant was not busy at that time. And then there was no apology for having messed up the order, rather a lame excuse about the kitchen. Then the Korean Short ribs have not been available for at least 3-4 weeks and its still on the menu. I am hoping that it's a passing down turn.
(3)Lindsey M.
Great sushi, lots of options. Fresh ingredients and affordable prices. Awesome lunch specials that I highly recommend. Friendly staff and quick service.
(4)Jason K.
My wife and I visited Mr Sushi on a Friday evening and got a table right away, no waiting as the place was not too busy. As might be expected, they do have a selection of Japanese beers. I always go for the Kirin Ichiban while my wife prefers the Asahi. I had an order of white tuna along with a rainbow roll. The rainbow roll is my go to because of the fact you get an assortment of several items. It comes with shrimp, salmon, tuna, and eel. I highly recommend it. The next time we are in the mood for sushi here in Columbus, Mr Sushi will be near the top of the list.
(4)Emma L.
I thought Mr Sushi was A-OK. Nothing outstanding, but sometimes that's okay. They had my favorites, which were all good and reasonably priced. The ambiance was cute and parking in the lot was a breeze. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely try them again.
(3)Matt S.
This place is awesome. I've been to Japan 5 times and I consider this place to be comparable and a hell of a lot cheaper. The service is amazing always. The drinks are always filled. My belly is full from the tuna belly.
(5)Heather N.
This restaurant has been recently totally remodeled. When I walked in I thought I was in the wrong location. I actually checked my yelp app on my phone to make sure I was in the right place. They have made the restaurant mo intimate with high back booths, wood accents and low lighting. I am not a sushi connoisseur, I actually don't like fish at all, but I do like the Sweet Potato, Mango roll, AAC roll and Sweet Potato/Pineapple roll, forgive me I don't remember these rolls real names. Service was attentive, and courteous. This along with the remodeling give this location a solid four stars.
(4)Shaun L.
Best sushi spot in northeast columbus. Dumpling soup is great. Rolls are all yummy. Always clean and crowed on the weekends so come prepared to wait a little. It's well worth it. Good service.
(5)Mike D.
Super thumbs up for Mr Sushi. It's a funny little place. There aren't many tables, it's a little shady, but welcoming at the same time. Their lunch specials are a good value, you get some miso water and a small salad in addition to your entree. If you're not in to sushi, I have to reccomend the Teriyaki hibachi dishes they have. They are gimongous, and really delicious. Teriyaki Salmon is a pretty decent size of delicious salmon with rice, and stir fry vegetables. I sampled the Sunday Morning roll (salmon, cream cheese, tempura fried). It was wacky. But it WORKED! The tuna roll was standard, but really good too. Give it a shot. It's worth a try, I promise!
(4)Frank D.
Wow, it has been about two years since I was inside Mr. Sushi. They have redecorated in the interior. It doesn't feel like you are in a strip mall store front anymore. Service is great, the food is really good. The layout is good. The only bad experience i had was a very loud laughing woman, but she had had maybe two glasses of wine at lunch, so... Chicks will be chicks :o)
(5)Misty D.
This is hands down my favorite sushi place. Yeah, it's "cozy" inside (meaning small) but it's suits this place. The sushi is amazing. I always order the kinky roll and the baked salmon roll. I've tried a couple of the noodle dishes too and they were wonderful. The service has always been top notch. They are so friendly! I've also ordered take out a few times. They are always ready when I get there and are just as wonder as when I eat at the restaurant. I'm ALWAYS happy to eat here and recommend it to ALL my friends!
(5)Rick S.
A few years ago this restaurant expanded it's square footage substantially, and I feel that commensurate with that change, the quality of the food and experience began to steadily decline. Despite this, we seem to continue to go back, likely because it is down the street from a movie theater we attend periodically. Tonight, though, will likely be the last. The service was rude, food was slow (despite us sitting at the sushi bar and the restaurant being only half full), and the sushi was poor to bad. By slow, I mean that it took 30 minutes to receive the sushi we ordered. By bad, I mean that some of the fish was so cold as to have the consistency of ice cream straight out of the freezer. Furthermore, we left $15 to $20 of sushi uneaten because it was so poor. By rude, an example would be that while reviewing the sushi order form with the waiter, he became frustrated and brushed my hand off of the order sheet indicating that he understood what I was trying to show him. Whether he did or not, it was inappropriate. I don't know what happened to the sweet older gentleman who used to run this restaurant before it expanded, but it is clear that when he left the quality and charm did too.
(1)Erin D.
Went here with friends on their recommendation...didn't disappoint. If you are looking for a place with good rolls and a good price then this is your place. It's not swank, and you won't get the warm towel or anything like that. Tables and chairs are basic and so is decor...but a few sakes and will you notice? Service was good and the sushi came out very quickly...impressive for ordering about 7 rolls. We also went with server recommendation of their baby octopus special. Though a little out my sushi comfort zone, was very delish. Rolls to try: Engine No. 6 Kinky Roll (oowww!) So close to home, so will be stopping here next time I get that sushi craving!
(4)Jessica H.
The people make the restaurant. It seats almost exactly 45. The new location in Dublin (opened just a few weeks ago) seats double that. The sushi is A-OK! Reference the baked salmon roll picture I posted - Martin P loved, I mean LUUUUVVED it. He also enjoyed the salmon teriyaki roll. The yam and pineapple, "The Pinetato,"roll was good, if on the small side. I think I have been spoiled by Haiku. I created my own roll with yam, avocado and cream cheese. It was pretty darn tasty. Always check the "specials" board - it seems more innovative, including a roll with fried banana on top. Try the unfiltered Saki - at $12 a bottle and 14.5%, it was DELISH! Probably one of the best I have had. The staff, though. They were AMAZING! We had such a fun night just because of them... you can never tell me employees aren't the first line of PR and Marketing. Met the owner, a delightful gentleman. Do NOT get the Natto. I tried it for giggles and because it was only a couple bucks... when the staff describes something as "interesting" that should be your first clue. Bless them though, the ones who hadn't tried the roll before were game to try mine when I offered. Watching faces, including Martin P's, was the end to a perfect evening.

Arrived for an early dinner on a Friday night. Located in strip mall-i was not deterred. I have had some of the best sushi in unassuming, hole in the wall type places. The decor was nicer than expected for the location and the space was unexpectedly roomy. The staff was attentive upon arrival and promptly took our orders and accommodated our children's needs. My husband and I ordered a chirashi dinner to share, as well as two rolls. Usually the chirashi dish is the "tell" as to whether or not the place has good fish and trained chefs preparing it-the cut is everything. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.... First, the miso soup; which was good- a solid miso, not the best I've ever had but flavorful and with the appropriate amount of tofu and seaweed. The edamame was fresh tasting and not over cooked, which I hate and is totally unacceptable. Who wants mushy soybeans?!? Our sushi arrived promptly and we jumped in... The chirashi was very good, once again not the best I've had but it was fresh...thank god. The cuts were sizable portions and cut well-nothing too artistic but clean cuts. We enjoyed the variety of fish presented and especially liked the salmon and fatty tuna. The rainbow roll was ok, I liked our other selections better. The fish on top of the roll seemed a little skimpy to me. We added avocado to our spicy tuna roll and thoroughly enjoyed it. The spicy tuna had the right amount of fire without being mayo laden, which restaurants do to cover up the poor quality/freshness of their fish. I also really liked that the rolls were tight and neat without too much rice; once again, enabling me to taste to fish, which was solid. All and all- I left full and happy! Glad to have this sushi place around the block. I will be back.

Been rolling here for quite a few years since my family are regulars, and the owner always hooks us up. Sure that can skew any real review, and I do have to admit that the service can be a bit spotty, but the Sushi is spot on for the Midwest. I always get a ridiculous amount of Sashimi since the fam' is buying and also because of the freshness and precision knife skills. On top of that, the size of the cuts are over the top huge, which is always necessary since it's sashimi, which never really quite fills me up. All in all this place always delivers, just don't go thinking you are going to get in and out without a bit of a wait. My tip? Get yourself some Sake and Brew and do some chilaxing, all while taking in the sights of Mr. G's fine lookin' wait staff... Enjoy Suckas'!!!
(4)Kimmy S.
Wish the babimpap had more meat, it was only a spoonful while, the rest was veggies. Sushi is always good.
(3)Justin K.
My favorite sushi place ever...spicy tuna is killer! Go at lunch for great deals that come with soup and salad. Maki Combo - 3 rolls, salad, soup for $8.99 This is hands down my favorite sushi place due to the taste, quality, and value. I moved about an hour away from here, but have quit going to other places in my area (Dayton), and only get sushi at this place.
(5)Michelle S.
Looks like they have decorated the place to make it a bit more fancy. I think they should've stuck with what they had and saved their money. When I first walked in, it was really dark and you could barely read the words on the menu. Our table asked the waitress if they could brighten up the lights a bit but the lady said that it doesn't get brighter. Turns out at the end of the meal, you were able to! Maybe she didn't understand English that well. Our waitress didn't speak English very well. It was hard to communicate with her because she spoke broken English. She was very nice though so I gave a decent tip since she tried...I mean it wasn't her fault for not speaking English fluently. I'm just thinking, if you're going to hire someone that interacts with many customers...shouldn't they be able to communicate though? The food wasn't that good. I like Edamame restaurant better. I ordered the spicy chicken and veggies. It was decent and good portion size but it tasted better the next day as a leftover. I ordered the jubilee sushi and they put way too much cream cheese. I had people at my table try it and they agreed. My bf ordered the Resource Roll which was pretty good though.
(2)ZZ K.
Who would have thunk it!? This little gem hidden in a crappy little plaza serves up some tasty sushi Just when I thought Columbus has no more than 1 decent sushi place...Behold, there are now 2!! Good service, tasty rolls and great lunch specials. If you are looking for good sushi (and are not concerned with a hip atmosphere...Don't hesitate...GO!
(4)Michael C.
Yum!
(4)Amy M.
Prior to their remodel, this was my hands down favorite place for sushi in Columbus. Maybe being closed for a month lost them most of their sushi chefs and staff, I'm not sure. But the quality and consistency went downhill after that. It's still good, just not great. But here's a tip: ask to have Leo prepare your sushi if he is working! He is one of their original sushi chefs and I've never been disappointed with what he makes.
(3)Christina y.
Fish is always fresh. I suggest the spicy salmon sashimi for an appetizer
(5)Travis U.
I'm weird. I don't like sushi. It's pretty gross to me all-around. Somehow, I like Mr. Sushi (probably because I don't order sushi). My coworkers love this place, and I love to not be left out, so I tag along. They have chicken teriyaki or something that is pretty damn good. I wish they'd put in some more vegetables, but whatever. I'm just glad I have an alternative to get there. My coworkers say the sushi is great, so take that for what it's worth. The people are always nice and accommodating and the place has really been upgraded inside.
(4)Farrah S.
Mr. Sushi is phenomenal. This was the first place I tried sushi. I've had rolls from many other restaurants, and in several other states, no other place compares. Their rolls are are always fresh, and never disappoint. The restaurant is small, but comfortable. They have reasonable lunch specials, smaller rolls are around $5, larger around $10. My favorite is the pacific roll, a spicy tuna with tuna over the top. The staff are helpful, timely, and very friendly. I have told everyone I know about this place, and can't say enough good things about it. Absolutely my favorite place to eat!!
(5)Gwen D.
My brother has been telling me for years that I should check out Mr. Sushi, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to actually get over there. Maybe it's the fact that it's in a tiny strip mall near a (not kidding) combination Indian food grocery and computer repair store. But I digress. It's really tasty, and the price is definitely right. The service has always been friendly and attentive when I've visited. They have a great sushi lunch special that gets you two rolls, some tasty Miso soup, and a salad with that magical ginger dressing. I also recommend the lunch of teriyaki salmon and veggies - GIANT serving of salmon, deliciously prepared, moist and flaky, with a sweet teriyaki glaze. I think about the Pinetato roll (grilled pineapple and tempura fried sweet potato) far too often. It sounds simple (okay, it IS simple), but it is also so delicious! The sweet bite of the pineapple, the crunch of the tempura sweet potato... mmm mmm good. The Sunday Morning roll is so wrong, but so right. Salmon and cream cheese rolled, and the entire thing fried? The cream cheese gets all gooey and melty, and you feel a little weird about eating deep fried sushi, but you have to just keep going. I'll leave you with a story that I promise IS going somewhere. This one time, my husband, my brother and I all went to Mr. Sushi for lunch. It is important to note that my husband has a shellfish allergy, my brother is vegetarian, and I'm allergic to avocado (true, but tragic, story). The server bumped into my husband and spilled some soup on him. To make it up to us, she brought us a complimentary magical appetizer known as Naruto. The Naruto appetizer contains, among other things, crab (or maybe "crab"), shrimp, avocado, tobiko, and is wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber. Since clearly the boys weren't going to be eating any, I decided to pop the avocado pieces out and risk it. And I'm so glad I did! It is seriously good and I'm considering wrapping all of my food in cucumber from now on. I had it again tonight, and no one seemed to mind that I ordered it avocado-free. Thanks, Mr. Sushi, for your consistent deliciousness!
(4)Keith B.
I had the hot pot bidimbot or whatever the fuck it's called. No sushi for me. Although they screwed up a coworker's order of sushi (...despite ordering raw food, his order came out after all or pots). It was odd that when my friend asked for Kimchee their was a look of terror on the server's face and she said "...not for customers" It was interesting, but mostly rice. But my friends from OK/NY both rave about the stone pot, so evidently, I just need to try this dish again elsewhere.
(3)Christina C.
I tell everyone about the Mr. Sushi roll... everyone. Came here for the second time today to celebrate a friend's birthday and ordered eight lovely, large sushi rolls - see photo. Each and every one was delicious - including my favorite, Mr. Sushi. The presentation was wonderful and the service was great. It lacks character and doesn't offer much by way of a "dining experience" but we managed to enjoy ourselves, and our meal, just the same.
(4)Kimberley D.
Service was excellent. Very attentive staff. Food was fresh and beautifully presented.
(5)Frank P.
I've been going here about once every two weeks for years now and one thing that keeps bringing me back is the consistency of the sushi and food. I've not once had average tasting sushi, the fish has always been fresh and appetizers good. I've been to most sushi spots in Columbus and this is my #2 spot. Only sushi dot com in Dublin to me is better but its a longer drive just to go have some sushi. I travel around the US quite a bit and have had sushi in a lot of cities. The pricing is good if not excellent for what you would pay in other sizable cities, the remodeling makes for a good atmosphere although I find that the booths are downright uncomfortable to sit in. Favorite roll: KINKY Give it a shot then post your review......
(5)Sabrina L.
When you call you store Mr. Sushi, you better have good sushi! I definitely wouldn't say that Mr. Sushi even has close to the best sushi in town, but it is better than adequate. Here are a few things I liked: 1. The pinetato roll is a pretty brilliant combination. Fried sweet potato and grilled pineapple? Yes please! If there was a such a thing as dessert sushi this would be it. Sort of a light, sweet taste that I wanted more of when I finished. 2. Rice on the OUTSIDE of the avocado roll. Thank you Mr. Sushi! I'd say it's about half and half at the restaurants around town when it comes to putting rice or nori on the outside of an avocado roll. They're both fine, but I much prefer it the way Mr. Sushi did it. 3. Lots of good specials. The specials board had some combinations I don't think I've ever seen anywhere else and they looked pretty good. Unfortunately I didn't notice them until after I ordered but it will give me something to look forward to when I go back. As for the restaurant, it's on the smallish side, and for some reason the waitress kept whispering "spicy mayo" under her breath in a way that was unnerving, but I would definitely go back and recommend it for someone in the Gahanna area.
(4)Mike H.
Spicy Tuna Roll: Ok but not that great. It seemed a little overly mushy and didn't have a lot of flavor. California Roll: One of the better california rolls I've had. Despite other reviews, I thought the vegetables were really fresh and crisp. Baked Salmon Roll: I would never usually order a roll like this but I did based on the reviews here. It had decent flavor but I prefer my rolls cold or room temp. The small fruit bowl at the end of the meal was a really nice touch. Service was good.
(3)Joe H.
Excellent sushi, for an excellent price! Definitely coming back.
(5)Nate L.
This place has everything I want in a sushi restaurant. Fresh and great tasting rolls, friendly service and creative roll selection. Very small inside and not much for decorations, but the people and food are full of substance!
(5)John Paul P.
Hands down, my favorite sushi is at a Korean-own restaurant in the middle of Ohio. A simple baked salmon roll. It was simply flake/melt in your mouth delicious, with a good texture/crunch and mild bite. I have never fallen in so much love with a roll before. Service was solid, and I've never encountered a wait or any delays. One nice thing is the free dessert at the end, a light agar and fruit combination. They do have some more unusual hours on Sunday, only open for dinner from 5-9 pm.

Let me say first off... I have really become a fan of sushi in recent years. So when I found out another place had opened near home, I took the Mrs.' suggestion to try it out on a lazy Saturday evening. Admittedly, I do not get too adventurous on my first trip to any place. Coming from a family of outdoorsmen/women (hey, we're a fun bunch) who love salmon, I went with an old standby, the Teriyaki Salmon roll. But when I saw a Baked Salmon Roll...? Oh yeah... had to have it. It was everything I wanted and more. I didn't even take the time with wasabi and ginger... I just couldn't wait to get that next bite. The Natto Roll was something we tried on a lark, because we asked the servers about it and the response was... well... lukewarm. Even the sushi chef we asked said it was "meh." The main part of it is some sort of beans that are fermented... appetizing, right? However, J was intrigued enough to give it a shot... I smiled and nodded. She had a couple, I had a couple, and a couple servers who hadn't tried it before... did so. Seemed there was a consensus... and it's NOT the flavor of the beans. It's the texture. However, we shared a really good laugh with the staff. This, of course, brings me to the staff. Seriously, from the ladies waiting the tables to the sushi chefs to the owner... everyone was attentive, friendly, and no menu or ingredient question was too big or too small. Makes for an excellent dining experience. Never underestimate the importance of great atmosphere.

I used to eat here all the time before they closed for remodeling. I finally tried this place again about a month ago and, lucky me, got a wicked case of food poisoning. So, um, no thanks.

My experience yesterday at Mr. Sushi was terrible. First of all, I am not sure what type of area this place is in, as it looked like a nice strip mall, but the child abuse that I had the opportunity to see in the parking lot from the restaurant window started the evening off poorly. I ordered the miso soup and when it arrived, it was quite tasty. I then ordered an eel roll, a yellowtail roll and a couple of pieces of negiri. None of the sushi that I had tasted fresh. My friend ordered a mixed sushi sampler and came to the same conclusion. We both left unhappy and feeling less than well. I will not be back to Mr. Sushi.

The remodeled Mr. Sushi is double the size and gorgeous inside. they get an extra star for that. We placed our order to go and sat at the bar while we waited. Thankfully, we had no issue with kitchen time and had our order ready to go after a totally reasonable wait. The spicy tuna rolls were just as good as I remembered. :)

I eat at Mr Sushi at least once a month. I've never had bad service and think they have the best sushi in the city. My favorites is the baked salmon roll. There is a crackalicious sauce that they use. I have literally had dreams about it! Also, their dumpling soup is amazing. I will say that the ambiance isn't what it could be but I think you find that a lot of good restaurants have this problem.

With a name like "Mr.Sushi" you would have to think this place is a joke right? But I tell you, it is not. I have been here a handful of times and have never had a bad meal. The rolls are all made fresh and are good size. I have seen bigger rolls but I feel they are good size and are not over priced. All of the "raw" rolls I have tried have been very tasty and have always been very fresh(you know, no fishy taste). Mr. Sushi also offers food other than sushi. Hibachi, teriyaki, tempura, and noodle dishes are also on the menu. I have not tried any of them, but they look good. I have tried the dumpling soup. It is a must have. As far as the seating goes, the restaurant is in a strip mall, so it is a little cramped during dinner. It is not a fancy place that you go for the "dinning experience". But it is nice, clean and has a friendly staff. End notes: Very good sushi that will not break the bank.

I went to Mr. Sushi. I should have gotten the sushi. I went to Mr. Sushi for a friend's birthday party. They had all informed me of the excellent sushi, and I was excited because not only do I love sushi but I love Japanese restaurant entrees as well. I suffer from a rare, genetic disorder called SWFMUD (Sushi Won't Fill Me Up Disorder). Being quite hungry, I decided to watch my friends eat their sushi rolls and order myself an entree, Tonkatsu. I always mix up Tonkatsu (pork cutlets alone) with Katsu Don (pork cutlets over rice with egg). I should really stop that. Everyone who got sushi really enjoy it immensely and if I go back, that is what I will surely get, as it looked pretty good. They definitely have some interesting rolls that you don't see anywhere else. However, my Tonkatsu was bland and hard. Now onto the service... My friend ordered a beer for her birthday, a Bud Light. But the beer she got was expired, by over two months. She took one sip and was like "there's something fishy here." She found the expired date, and she told the waitress. The waitress looked through the whole beer cooler and found that was the only one expired, and offered to get her a replacement free of charge. My friend declined. Then, I brought home a spicy tuna roll for Rachel P. According to her, it did not taste like tuna at all. It tasted like "breadcrumbs to be honest with you." Weird, weird, weird. My friends at the restaurant were mostly impressed by their sushi rolls, which were exotic and out of the ordinary. But a very ordinary spicy tuna roll tasted like... breadcrumbs?! Mr. Sushi, I have a bone to pick with you. But if I had the opportunity to go back, I'd just put down the expense for two exotic rolls, even though I'll need a light snack later on in the evening. Damn you, SWFMUD!

This is a tiny little sushi restaurant, but it's just as good as some of the more well-known places in town. The interior is nondescript, but where Mr. Sushi shines is presentation. It seems like every time I come here, my food is served on a different type of vessel, whether it's an ornate dish or a wooden boat. I typically order only nigiri, and it's delicious here, with that melt-in-your-mouth toro I'm always looking for (though at $5 a pop, I usually can only order one or two). My wife loves the sweet-potato rolls here, and I've seen some interesting and unique concoctions on the specials board (though I've never ordered one). Mr. Sushi also has Korean dishes, and I tried the bibimbap once; it wasn't my favorite thing ever but that's just my personal tastes talking. A nice touch: you get a free dessert. It's just a few sliced pears or melons and some sort of milky jell-o stuff, but it's a nice, light way to end a meal.

If it were possible to give a restaurant zero stars, that's what I'd do in this case. The fish and vegetables were AWFUL!! That's because they've been uncovered and over-prepared. The avocado was all shriveled up and the fish didn't look good either. When I mentioned this to the owner, I got a "so what" look in return. That'll be the last time I stop here.

The huge veggie roll is incredible. Not sure what vegetables are actually in it but who really cares? Fast, friendly, and I love how they show you the roll before packaging it up. Only sushi place I trust in Cols.

Tough to find a seat because no one was seating. Sat a the bar had to get our own menus. Server basically dropped all if our drinks with one person and walked away. Service got not no better through out the night. Understaffed. Recent expansion has caused growing pains. Food was good not great.

I love all the rolls they have here. I haven't found one I didn't like. The atmosphere is friendly. The prices are reasonable for what you get. I definitely recommend the baked salmon roll. The hibatchi is ok, but the sushi is what you really come in for.

Great food - terrible service. Our male server came over to the table before we even got our food and oddly enough, told us he was going in the back to eat his dinner and someone else would bring our food. Hot food arrived after the rest of us had finished our sushi. Odder still was when we told him friends would be joining us for a quick drink at 9:45 pm (they close at 10:30) and he said he had "plans that night". We promptly paid and left. He ruined our experience there despite 5* food.

I've been chowing down here for the past year and a half. It blows my mind that this joint is in a strip mall, of all places. Recently a friend of mine who has lived on the coast of Maine joined me for some grub. He was quite skeptical....but even he was impressed with the flavor. Excellent food...excellent service....lots of smiles.

I love Mr. Sushi. As far as I'm concerned, they have the best sushi outside of campus/downtown area in Columbus. I'm also in love with their miso soup and salad. I don't know what they put in their salad sauce, but it's better than any place I've tasted. I've been there multiple times, and while we did have to wait a little longer once in a while to be served, the waitresses have always been very courteous. It's a small place, but decor is relaxing and the cozy atmosphere is great for a quiet date night. Definitely recommended for sushi lovers!

I really enjoyed this place. Very affordable. Had the spicy tuna roll and spicy eel roll and enjoyed both!

Good sushi, nice atmosphere and resonance prices. Wait staff was new to the US and was not familiar with some US restraint protocols. Overall a nice surprise for Columbus OH.

I wish I could leave zero stars. My husband and I went to Mr. Sushi probably not long after it was opened. Both of us got really sick!!! We saw some woman put together our salad in the kitchen with her bare hands after cleaning the dining room. Never again!

Tasty sushi, service was so-so, reasonable prices. Do not go close to closing or you will be hurried out. They remodeled recently and the place is quaint.

Some of the best sushi in Columbus. I have been here a few times, and have never had a bad experience. Good sushi and good service. I always leave there feeling way too full.

You would never expect this to be the best sushi place in Gahanna, but it is! I have been here several times, mostly for lunch and it has been superior each time. First let's talk about the ambience...okay it is a very small restaurant inside a strip mall in Gahanna. There are may 12 tables and a 6 seat bar and you can literally hear everyone in the room but who cares? It's all about the food here. Eating here is like finding hidden treasure! The quality here is excellent, I tend to prefer the normal rolls but my coworkers have order the sashimi as well and been impressed. They offer 2 rolls, a small salad and miso soup for $8.99 for lunch. The price is great, the soup was not but the salad had a nice taste. Also, pop is served in cans which is kind of quirky. Everytime I go it is very busy, I recommend trying the fried sweet potato and pineapple roll (What? yes!) the baked salmon roll, and even the california roll is good for those that like the classics.

I had heard good things about this place. It is just okay. Good miso soup. They put hot rolls in with cold ones in our sushi order. This might have been why I was less than thrilled.

Zero stars - And I was very hungry, if that says something. Dark, discolored shrimp (not from being raw). Warm sashimi&sushi. Squished sushi. Sashimi cut poorly. The cheap type of bagged salad. Cheap everything. Chefs don't have the items individually wrapped in the case. Staff is friendly but very preoccupied and stressed. Highly recommend NOT GOING. Surprised we didn't get food poisoning. Try Edamame - just down the street. Worth the two min drive & it's clean with quality food.

My mom and I headed over to Mr. Sushi after a day-long shopping spree. By the time we found the place, our stomachs were growling like crazy. (Note: it's tucked in the way back corner of Vista Plaza.) The place is small, cramped, crowded, and reminded me of a family-owned Korean restaurant of some sort. I can almost guarantee a wait seeing the small dining space and the lack of servers. In fact, we snagged a seat right as a party of 4 was leaving. It took one (of the two servers) a good 15 mins just to wipe off the table. By that time, my mom and I were feeling voracious and seeing how the sushi chefs are working up a sweat, we opted for the lunch menu instead. Both my seafood bibimbap and my mom's regular bibimbap paled in comparison to Kaya's and Silla's. I've ordered enough bibimbap in my life to know if it's done right and/or fresh. My dull looking seafood concoction just didn't cut it. I turned to the spicy hot sauce but to no avail. My dish had been serve with about a two ketchup packet amount of the hot sauce. I normally squirt an equivalent of ten ketchup packet amount of that potent sauce on my bibimbap. Then I quickly turn to my cold drink to douse my burning tongue. My interesting encounter... Woman dressed from head to toe with Louis Vuitton to me: What's that dish? It looks delicious!!!! Me: It's the seafood hot stone pot bibimbap. Woman (gave me a WTF look) to the server: I'll have whatever she just said. I obviously cannot vouch for the sushi, but I don't think I'll be back to try it. Especially not after the headache and stomachache that resulted a couple of hours later.

First of all, you do not order sushi for take-out. Second, I believe that bibimbap is a Korean dish and why would you go to a place called Mr. Sushi for that? I am a picky ass little bitch when it comes to sushi, and I have to say I was rather impressed with Mr. Sushi's presentation. Four of us ordered and ate a ridiculous amount of raw fish and there was nothing to complain about. The rolls were well formed and tasty, and the nigiri was picture perfect. It was impressive how well this nigiri was presented, especially for Ohio. Service might have been a tad on the slow side, but its a small place, just wave at your waitress and she comes right over. Definitely recommended...

Take out or not (I did not realize that there was some rule that I could not take my sushi home) the fish was bad. How about reviewing the restaurant as opposed to chiding the other Yelpers for not conforming to your ideas of what is appropriate?
