This place is great. The steak salad was well worth it and the specials sound creative and nice. The waitress was strange the whole evening then she couldn't split the bill with two credit cards. Just weird.

Food was very good. I had the Blackened grouper, my wife the ravioli with chicken. As I said my grouper was good but not what I expected in a blackened dish. It is a bit on the expensive side (2 and 1/2 $ signs, 19 to 45 dollars) Décor was nice. I was impressed with the metal ceiling that was original to the buildings décor when it was originally built.

I travel to Findlay often on business, and this is my favorite restaurant in town! The atmosphere is dark but welcoming. It has a cool, relaxed vibe. I am a beer drinker, and they have a nice selection of both seasonal and local/craft beers on tap. They have more in bottles if you do not fancy the ones on tap. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts are all amazingly delicious. I always make sure to add on (for $3) one of the "fancier" side salads. My favorite is the bistro salad: granny smith apples, mixed greens, walnuts, blue cheese and a honey poppy seed dressing. YUM! The kobe meatballs or the tuscan penne (add chicken) are my go-to entrees. Be warned: the portions are quite large! Good luck saving room for dessert! Looking at the menu, I get a little worried about what the total bill will cost. However with drinks, appetizers, side salads, and entrees, including tax and tip... it averages out to be around $40 a person. I don't think that is too bad for a meal that is both delicious and very filling.

Horrible. Just left. Food and drinks were superb, however, boils down to service. Service was impeccable until a party of eight came in. Keep in mind that there were only 5 other table and four people at the bar. We became invisible once the eight people came in. 27 minutes for another drink and never removed our appetizer we were clearly finished with. If service is this horrid on a slow night like tonight. I'd hate to see it busy.

I've been flying to Findlay over the years to work the college and just found out about the Bistro. This place has amazingly fresh vibrant tasting dishes that are creative with colors and textures. The specialized drinks are just as good as the food. Service was great and attentive without being intrusive. A cozy little place that we are sure to return to. Keep up the good work Sam!

Cozy place - dimly lit, relaxing music, neat old building. Nice wine list. The portions here are ridiculously large (each item ordered could have fed 2 people). For the same price and half the amount of food, the cost could be put into the quality of the food. If this were to happen, I think this could be a genuinely good restaurant. Unfortunately, as of now, it's just okay. What I ate: Arugula & Beet salad - 2 stars The arugula was not fresh (wilted). The ratio of beets to greens was too small to be included in the title of the dish. The flavor combination left a lot to be desired (the Bree style of cheese on this salad wasn't the best choice and the celery just didn't belong). Walnuts and salad dressing were solid. Lamb - 3 stars The flavor combination here was well done with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes; however, the meat was not tender and most certainly was not priced according to the quality of the meat ($39). It was cooked properly as medium rare. Creme Brulee - 2 stars The richness I am accustomed to was not here. It was more like just a custard. Service - 3 stars Not bad, but certainly not upscale. I was not informed of the specials, which is annoying. Also, the waitress disappeared for 20 long minutes at the end of the meal.

Everything was delicious except the hot bacon spinach salad. Tomato basil bisque was perfect! Alforno would get again! Service was great up until the end... It took a long time to get our to go dessert. Would definitely go again!

Not nearly as good as it was a few years ago. Maybe management changed? It used to be a strictly Italian restaurant with a decent Italian menu. Now Italian food takes up only a portion of the menu. I saw no Italian dish without mushrooms or olives, which - if you like that, you'd love. I ended up getting penne with chicken and sausage (asking for no onions, peppers or mushrooms) but it was really heavy on the sauce and light on noodles, which were overcooked. The music - ugh, the music. What happened to Italian music in Italian restaurants? This was like bad elevator music. And it was loud. The salad even was strange - instead of croutons it had crushed croutons, which gave the salad a very strange texture. In all, it seemed they were trying too hard to be trendy. I'd rather they kept it simple and did one thing well - Italian food. But the food was so-so. My wife liked hers, though. They get points for atmosphere.

Very good place to have some nice lunch or dinner (almost fancy). Had the Kobe meatballs and they were good! Very tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the meat was soft. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are driving by Findlay.

I had the best dessert I have ever had !!!!! It was the chocolate praline pie with vanilla gelato . It had a great atmosphere. I had the roasted beet, Brie , and arugula salad to start then the lobster risotto.

Average at best. Service was slow for our table of 5. My braised short ribs were tender but lacked any kind of flavor. Our table also shared the lobster and corn fritters, which did not have any lobster flavor let alone lobster meat.. was overpowered by the lemon juice they squeezed over the dish before serving.

I ate dinner here on a Tuesday night and it was excellent. the fresh mozzarella app was amazing. the fried olives were good. all 3 entrees were excellent. basically, everything was good. very romantic and hip atmosphere. i had 2 bourbon drinks (the daily special and an Old Fashion) and both were perfect. the dessert options all looked amazing. you know you are at a good place when you are planning what you will order the next time you visit during your current visit. everything no the menu looked delicious. i did not order a beer but theri craft beer selection looked very good as well.

Grabbing a bit while on biz travel. Dark, quite and romantic place. Very friendly staff. Nice selection and the seafood special was good. Got the veggies and rice soup, didn't realize it was tomato based, should have asked first. Overall good experience and great price

Yet another time I wish that I could rock a half star rating. This is no way is meant as a slight to the place as I think the good is quite good, I'm just not entirely sure it is worth the price tag. The menu is full of offerings that are unique and flavorful, and the preparation/presentation has been great for both of my visits. I have been particularly impressed with the seafood, in particular the fact that I can find really well prepared grouper. The presence of carpaccio on the menu is also a very welcome site, and the dish is worth ordering for sure. The bottom line for me is that while the offerings are unique and the preparation is quite good, I'm not totally convinced the price tag is appropriate. Bistro is arguably the nicest restaurant in town, but I don't know if that in itself justifies the upcharge.

One of the best menu's in town. Probably about the closest thing to "fine dining" you're going to find in Findlay. They definitely have a good kitchen staff. The food is consistently good quality and the presentation is beautiful. Another huge plus is that it is always clean.

We eat at the Bistro about once a month and consistently have great food! The waitresses are amazing and always remember our 'usuals'. I would recommend the Pasta Pollo Vento it is spicy but amazing we see quite a dew people ordering the tomato basil soup and here that it is really good also.

**LOCAL BUSINESS** This is one of the more upper scale restaurants for Findlay. I don't find it ghastly, but every time I dine there I think the prices are too high. The cuisine is primarily Italian, but with burgers and seafood available, it seems to have a broader focus. They used to have a wonderful rosemary chicken, however as I look at the menu now, it's no longer there. That's unfortunate. The waitstaff is about average, but for being an upper scale restaurant, I grade it harder. For example, in this situation, I expect my waiter/waitress to know what it means to have my drink "neat." I suppose that ties into the whole paying more for my meal bit (and no, she didn't know). You'll more than likely enjoy your meal and the atmosphere there, however, you may have a little sticker shock afterward.

I've tried eating at Bistro on Main twice. Both times I was completely ignored by the staff until I silently excused myself. The most recent trip was with a friend and well-known food critic I tend to go food-tripping with, who looked very forward to trying this place. After standing around for ten minutes while the staff and management moved around and between us, carrying on business as if we weren't there, and blatantly cold-shouldering us, we simply left. The restaurant was empty and over-staffed, giving no reason at all for this behavior, and the prices for 'fancied-up pub grub' were, for lack of any better word, pretentious. I won't even consider returning to this hole, and would be happy to provide anyone else passing through the area another half-dozen superior restaurants where you'll always be greeted as family and leaving with a smile.

We had a memorial service for my mother-in-law scheduled for a Friday, so I called The Bistro to set up a reservation for those of the family who attended. 4 of us were from Kenton, 3 came in from Illinois. After the memorial service at the cemetery that Friday, we drove to Findlay to enjoy a time of fellowship. We got to the Bistro a few minutes early, so I went in to check to see if we could be seated or if we needed to wait until our scheduled time. The woman looked at the reservation page and said she had no reservation for us. I told her I had talked to a young man who said he had marked it down and was looking forward to serving us. She basically treated me like I was lying and she had no patience with me. I had turned around and was about halfway to the door when she asked for our last name. I told her and she then said, your reservation was yesterday. I said "excuse me". She then restated and said the reservation had been entered for Thursday not Friday after she realized she was making it sound like we made the mistake. No apology was given.

This is the first review I have ever written just as a preface of how terrible my overall experience was at Bistro. I arrived with a big party for a coworker's birthday celebration, so I already realized our service would be slow just because the size of our party. We ordered drinks around 7:30 p.m. and we did not get them for at least an hour. The only reason I give this review a 1 out of 5 is because the drinks were quite tasty. We ordered around 8:00 p.m. and did not receive our food until two hours later. I ordered the pecan chicken with mashed potatoes and apple chutney. Upon arrival, the server told us our mashed potatoes would be out shortly. We had to ask another server for them because nearly everyone had already finished their meals and we had not received them. I assumed that maybe the chutney would come along with the mashed potatoes (even though it seemed a bit odd to not accompany the chicken). The mashed potatoes came out with no chutney, and I waited a few minutes before asking about the chutney. The waitress said, "Oh yeah, I forgot. We are out of chutney. Can I get you some honey?" The chutney was the only reason I ordered the chicken and you would think the server would have remembered to tell us that either during the creation of our meal or before we ordered, that they were out of it. She had absolutely no regard for how our meals arrived and whether an essential component was missing, until we brought it to her attention. In addition to the absence of chutney, the mashed potatoes were blatantly instant. I had six other people at my table confirm to me that the potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. At this point, I was infuriated for spending nearly $20 on a meal that was missing essential components, and the mere fact that I could have received better food from a place like Applebee's!!! At least then I would not have had a false perception of what I was really receiving. The chicken was subpar as if it has been rolled in breadcrumbs rather than pecans. It was also extremely dry. I didn't even consume 1/5 of my meal before handing it back to the server. She didn't even care to ask if there was something wrong with my meal or anyone else's who had only eaten a small portion because of the low quality. They didn't even hand us our bills after our meal, so all 19 of us had to go up to the bar after waiting another 20 minutes after they cleared away our table. Since our party was so large, they added in the gratuity of 18% even after numerous people at our table had complained about the quality of food after our food arrived. If you are looking for a place to drink, this place is perfect, but please save your money and go to a place that is worth it. It is pretty terrible when you consider the quality of food at Applebee's superior to this restaurant.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
