Slow, terrible service. We ordered two mixed grills and watched as 5 orders before ours were served. They didn't get us our order until we complained. This is our second try there and the first time they told us they were out of rice and would have to order fries..at 7pm..really? Never again. Save your time, this place is garbage!
(1)Sommer H.
This place has great food. We had dolmas, hummus, and shawarma. The service was great also. Can't go wrong with this place. Good eats, good price. Ignore the paper plates, the food is good!
(5)Eric B.
All the rave reviews are not an exaggeration! We had falafel, yogurt salad, and two vegetarian plates. The baba ghanouj is unbelievable, with a base of smoked eggplant. Wrapped grape leaves are delicious and the hummus is very good. Also, did I mention that the falafel are excellent!. 3 of us ate a wonderfully delicious meal with Turkish coffee and baklava for 30.00
(5)Tessa R.
Amazing authentic food! Great flavor and customer service. Prices are really quite low
(5)Sarah C.
This place has the best food! I had the falafel wrap with hummus and pita bread as a side. It was tasty. The chickpeas had the perfect consistency - not too dry, not too soggy. Be aware that they are renovating, so seating is limited.
(5)Stacey A.
Our first time here. Tried the first 3 grilled entrees with all the sides. Everything was delicious and the owner/manager gave us falafels to try and 2 additional sides to try! The best service with amazing food.
(5)Greg S.
This restaurant is spot on! Great, authentic Mediterranean food at an affordable price. Friendly and quick service and an outdoor patio to soak in the sun. Definitely going there often!
(5)Mike P.
The food here is very very good. Not sure the exact ethnic origin but it reminds me more of Jordanian/Palestinian Mediterranean food vs Turkish or Israeli. No matter what it is very well prepared. Grill plates are perfectly cooked but a bit too much food and too pricy for lunch. The wrap combos are a great lunch deal and I am a fan of the vegetarian plate. I held off writing a review when they first opened because the service was a bit rough and didn't match the quality of the food. They seem to have worked all that out. Service is much better now. Not super fast but you are getting food cooked fresh to order so chill for 10 minutes and wait. It will be worth it.
(5)William D.
I had the Yaffa Mix and it was good - sides were Hummus and the Arabic Salad (don't recommend this one unless you know what you are getting as it has a very strong flavor). Service was maybe below average but the food made up for it.
(4)Meagan R.
Amazing food! All the cooks are fresh from Palestine so the food is very authentic. I was with a group so we were able to try a lot of different dishes. The chicken shawarma and rice was my favorite. The portions are very generous and I brought home plenty of leftovers for a full meal tomorrow. The staff was really friendly. Great customer service. Prices were reasonable. I highly recommend this place!
(5)Mark K.
The only reason I gave them 1 star is because yelp wouldn't allow a 0 rating. The menu says to call ahead for faster service but that only works if you have a menu. I walk in to the loudest and least clean Mediterranean place I have ever been to and convince myself that it has good reviews for a reason, after 5 min or so I get to the head of the line and order a chicken shawarma wrap since I figured it would be faster, 25 minutes later I recieve the dryest and smallest $5 sandwich ever it was laughable. Needless to say I will not be returning.
(1)Teresa D.
I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Do yourself a favor, get some friends together and go here. Order the hummus, it's the best I've ever had.
(5)Laura J.
Served on paper plates, the food reminded me of something you'd get at someone's home. Filling and tasty. I got the chicken shawerma with rice, hummus and cucumber tomato salad. The chicken was on the dry side but had great seasoning. The hummus was good. Loved the rice. I guess it was the entire package rather than one thing, but it was homey and good
(4)The-Sawdust S.
First time here, bring your appetite! Had the Chicken Shawerma, Which comes with Hummus and pita bread, and Turkish Salad. Great meal! The Hummus was the best I've ever had. Served with fresh warm Pita slices. I'll be back!
(5)Not Your Average ..
Great food, all day, ere day.
(5)Danny W.
This was the best food I've ever had in Ohio, the service was phenomenal, I would come back to Ohio just for seconds!
(5)Bryson B.
Best Mediterranean food around. The best chicken shawarma you'll find in Ohio, possibly the Midwest. The rice is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The humus... made fresh everyday from chickpeas they buy at the market. So good. Place can get a bit busy and you may wait, but it's worth it.
(5)T S.
The food was fresh and flavourful. The staff was also excellent and very attentive, informative, and courteous. This location is set up like an express food place, and while they are very fast...they still provide food and service that rivals any larger restaurant. Keep up the good work! This place is great! We'll defiantly be back soon.
(5)Julie T.
The food here is really stinkin' good and also very reasonably priced. The vegetarian plate is one of my favorite veggie dishes around here. The staff and waitresses are also friendly. My only compliant I suppose was that I was very clueless the first time I ate at Yaffa and no one told me whether I was supposed to sit down or order at the counter, so I felt silly. The interior also isn't anything special but the food certainly makes you forget about that.
(5)Tamara A.
Excellent menu with a wide variety of appetizers as well as full plates. I have not had anything that was not good. Even the baba ghanoush was decent (I do not like eggplant) ! The Falafel is some of the best I have ever tasted as is the stuffed grape leaves. We always leave stuffed and with a full platter of take home! We have been several times and it is close enough to where I can cruze by and get a dozen falafel just for the heck of it! Their yoghurt and cucumber salad is jut the thing when you want something light. It is not fancy. The food is served on disposable wear. The staff is friendly and fun and there are usually a couple of families present. As long as they cook, we will be there!!!
(5)Corey M.
Incredible food !!! The side dishes are absolutely amazing. The Baba Ghanouj and Hummus are sublime !!! The Eggplant salad is truly something unique and special. The Arabic salad is a wonderful spicy and accompanies the food wonderfully, as a relish or garnish. The Yogurt salad goes well with lamb. The Chicken Kebab and Shawerma are wonderful, I love the mixed grill. I don't think you will find better Mediterranean Food (Lebanese perhaps?) unless you are in the Middle East (or Dearborn, MI). Do you remember Taqueria Mixteca before everyone else discovered it? This food is better. The food is prepared fresh, so expect a wait for them to cook it. That might not be your expectation for a take-out. I do have to admit, that 20 minute wait for my big take-out order can seem like an eternity. And it can be frustrating when I can see the kitchen workers bouncing around and I am pretty sure they are not doing their work in the most efficient manner. And it can be confusing as there is a mix of languages being spoken, so no way to really understand where your order is in the que. And it can be confusing as to why they are telling me they are out of something after they started preparing the order. The food is always worth the wait. I have decided that that is just part of the deal. If I don't take a friend to pass the time, I call one. People watching is kinda fun as well. After about a dozen times waiting for food, I decided that I am glad that they are prioritizing preparing the food properly over efficiency. I see Yaffa grill as providing a side of culture along with the food. Mixing cultures is never efficient, but is it ever tasty. If I want a restaurant that has efficiency worked out to a science and gives me an American size Value of calories to the dollar I would be going to the McDonald's right next door. A failed version of that ethic can be found adjacent to Yaffa Grill, the failed Quizno's. This is the sister restaurant to Yaffa Market & Grill near the Dayton Mall. I have found the lamb and beef to be better there (Yaffa Market & Grill), which can sometimes be overdone to my taste here at Yaffa Grill.
(5)Ryan M.
Excellent food at cheap prices. Mediterranean food is pretty easy to find, but good chicken shawerma isn't. This place has the best in the area.
(5)Aaron A.
My family lived in Texas for 4 years in the mid-80's, when I was a kid, and we used to go to a restaurant that my parents referred to simply as "the hole-in-the-wall Chinese place." Physically, the restaurant was underwhelming, but the food was amazing. Yaffa is that way as well - it's a linoleum floor with cheap tables and the food is served on paper or styrofoam plates. But the food is truly amazing. Best baba ghanouj I've ever had, and I really like baba ghanouj (and have eaten at a number of places in Dearborn, MI). Great hummus, Turkish salad, and eggplant salad as well. Wow! A true pleasure eating there!
(5)Umber A.
I have such mixed feelings about this place. The good is great... however it depends on whether they have any food or not. If I didnt have cravings for good Mediterranean food I wouldn't keep going back to this place. In the past month there had been a few times when I stopped by to grab a bite to eat and they ran out of food for the day. There have also been where I called in a order and it wasnt ready. I keep telling myself im not going to go back .. however i cant stop eating at this place. They have fresh food and ingredients.
(3)Tiff A.
Fantastic food! Staff was friendly..We ordered musabaha, chicken shwarma, meditteranean chicken fajita and fatuoush salad to-go. The order took about 15 minutes to prepare, and worth every minute of the wait! Large portions and each dish exploded with the right amount of flavors. If ever in this area again..it's a must stop!
(4)Jonathan N.
Came in at lunch to get away from the office for a bit. Was directed to have a seat and that they would take my order. After 10 minutes having passed I went back up to the counter and had my order taken there. It wasn't even that busy. Portions are large and affordable. Atmosphere is more of a grab and go restaurant as everything is served on paper plates and drinks are the bottled or canned variety. There are definitely some kinks that need to be worked out with their ordering system, but the food is good enough to have me come back. I am glad to have a different choice of cuisine in the land of Fairborn/Beavercreek area aka "Chain Restaurants USA"
(4)Jeff S.
First, the hummus here was exceptionally good, slightly spicy and full of flavor, some of the best I have ever had. The shawarma was rather tasty also--definitely authentic. Second, the staff was very friendly and timely. Unfortunately they do not have any lamb, but other than that this outing was a success.
(3)Attila M.
Fantastic food! Very flavorful. Good sized portions. All the sides are great. Great service too!
(5)Nicole M.
Super tasty. Had the hummus, Yaffa grill, Turkish salad and the baba ganoush. Was not disappointed with a thing, we will definitely be back.
(5)Eleanor B.
This is probably the best falafel I've had since I've been back from Europe and the rice is amazing! I'm coming back to try everything else!
(5)S G.
After witnessing the preparation practices behind the counter while waiting for my food, I couldn't eat much. The pita bread is good - I couldn't bring myself to finish the meal. They are handling cash , mixing salads and hummus and preparing meat all behind the counter. I did not witness one hand wash or glove use. Someone walked out of the kitchen with s skewer of raw meat holding it above the area where others were preparing food.
(1)Axe D.
Great food and had Turkish coffee time. Would recommend vegetarian plate and an order of extra falafel.
(5)K G.
I had no idea this place existed. The food was great and so were the prices! I had a groupon coupon to use for dinner. So figured why not give this place a try. Very happy I did! Definitely recommend
(5)Rafael M.
excellent food, plates have a hefty amount. good service, one of the employees (a palestinian fellow, so you know it's authentic) was very friendly and attentive. would definitely go back
(5)R -.
I really love this place, paper plates and all. You can get high quality food without worrying about dressing up, which is nice if you're exhausted after evening classes and just want something different from the usual American fare. What keeps me coming back is the hummus. I've tried sating my Mediterranean cravings by buying store-bought hummus (even the expensive kind) and it just never tastes right, or has the right texture. Usually the store-bought ones have way too much garlic. My date pointed out that Yaffa makes theirs in a huge vat of sorts, which is what aerates it and makes it so fluffy. Service here is excellent. The employees seem to recognize my date now and call him brother when they talk to him, they really do appreciate your patronage and work hard to get the food right. This means that yes, if there are a lot of orders in front of yours or if a bunch of people come in to get carry-out, you are going to have to wait a bit as they work to give all the orders the special touch. But I've never spent longer than 45 minutes there total, ordering and waiting and eating time included - it just feels like longer because the food is so good! I intentionally order the grill or vegetarian platters because I know I will have wonderful leftovers, but I would like to branch out and try other things on the menu at some point. The fries that come with the sandwiches are surprisingly crispy and not too greasy or salty, which actually makes them my favorite place to get fries. In case other reviewers didn't mention it, the place does have a drink fountain now. They only opened last year and I think they are working up to adding more professional features as time goes on. I've noticed they've hired a lot more employees from when I went there last year, and they seem to have an assembly line figured out for all the side dishes. I expect they'll just get better as time goes on.
(4)Jordan G.
Great food, great flavor, and great service. Prices are also very reasonable. The yelp reviews are on point. Owner takes pride in his restaurant. Had the chicken shawerma and hummus. Will definitely return!
(5)Erika R.
I absolutely love this place. Every time I am in the area for work I come here for lunch/ dinner. The food is very fresh and is incredibly authentic (as authentic as you can get in Ohio). If you enjoy good Mediterranean food I highly recommend coming here!!
(5)Joseph D.
Dayton's best middle eastern cuisine. If you give taqueria mixteca 5 stars for Mexican then this should get 5 stars too, generally speaking. Although, they can be a little pricy on the plates though.
(5)Iti A.
This place is simply amazing. My favorite dish is the Chicken Shawarma. The service can be a little slow but they definitely make sure you leave happy. I have been there many times and one time I went for dinner they were out of chicken shawarma. I ended up ordering the falafel sandwich (so good!) But to make up for it they gave me free hummus and pita while I waited for my food! It was a nice gesture and great customer service. I definitely recommend this place!
(5)Amber K.
Came here because it's right across from my hotel. I didn't have too high of expectations since I've had real middle eastern food from the Middle East and this is Ohio, but I was pretty surprised. The hummus and pita and Arabic salad was great. I had the mixed grill, wasn't a big fan of the lamb/beef mix, but the chicken was great. The beef was ok, just a little too much char from the grill, which detracted from the seasoning. The rice was good, my kids loved it! The portions are huge, I got my kids chicken nuggets, but mine was big enough to share. My husband had the beef shawarma which was better than my food. The biggest downfall other than the char was the prices, I don't care about the paper plates but $12.75 for a lunch is crazy
(4)R R.
Great lunch spot, quick service and very polite staff. Ordered the chicken shawarma (my 1st ever) and it was great. Very flavorful, yummy garlic sauce and I added feta cheese. Definitely recommend
(4)McKenzie U.
I'm from an area in Phoenix where Mediterranean food is VERY big, so when I saw of a Turkish place in my mom's town of Beavercreek, I was a little apprehensive. The food is very good, though, and it's all freshly prepared (you can see it all being made as the kitchen is in plain view). The owner is very nice and our waitress made sure we knew when our food would be out and if we needed anything else. Their falafel is very flavorful but also mild in terms of spice heat, still one of the best I've tasted in a while. It's a little American-ized but still fantastic, and much better and more authentic-tasting than some other cultural eateries here. Service is kind of slow, but they seem to handle it well for being short-staffed. It's not nearly as slow as other reviewers make it seem, it's fairly reasonable. Nice place!
(4)Riyad T.
Expect excellent, authentic middle eastern food, very friendly staff and quick service. Very happy this place opened up just down the street from where I live. I will definitely be back and will be spreading the word about Yaffa Grill!
(5)Jonathan M.
This place is awesome! As I sit here eating my second falafel wrap this week (it's Wednesday) I couldn't help but think of Yelp. The food is as authentic as it gets and the staff is always friendly. Usually when I get Mediterranean food in Chicago, they could care less if I'm happy with the service. This place will now be my go too for all my speedy meals!
(5)Jess O.
I usually get the kufta sandwich with a side of grape leaves. The vegetarian plate is a good sampling of sides and appetizers. I've never left hungry or unsatisfied. My orders have always been correct and service has always been speedy and friendly. On the downside, the place could use a more regular cleaning. Dust accumulates on the vents and I have seen garbage overflowing on more than one occasion. The drinks are over priced and by the can, water only comes in bottles.
(4)Bradley M.
This was my first adventure in Mediterranean beyond a gyro, and I must say, the beef and chicken shewarma are amazing. The hummus, the basmati rice, and the arabic salad were tasty. Highly recommended for those who want to venture more into Middle Eastern cuisine from the more greek-style joints.
(5)Sarah M.
We were in the area, and my husband is always game for some Lebanese food. Yelpers agreed this is a good place to stop, and who are we to disagree with y'all? This place looks like it's still just starting up. Cans of pop are served, and plastic silverware and paper plates are your tableware. But what you lose in ambiance, the food well makes up. The hummus was lovely, scattered with fresh parsley and topped with a red pepper Harissa. The pita was warm and soft. My husband and son got sandwiches, the chicken and the beef shawarma. The beef was better than the chicken, and both had this intriguing sauce, like it had a hint of cinnamon or mace, but I couldn't pilot my finger on it and the chef was out for the day. I got the kebab sampler and fattoush. I don't think I'd get the sampler again, it was nothing epic, but the fattoush was pretty stellar. The pita chips on top are deep fried, not baked like the menu says, which IMO is an improvement. Also, it had green peppers - blech. I would have asked them to hold them if the menu reflected their presence. One last thing: the hubs and I got sage tea. A regular tea bag in hot water with some fried whole sage leaves thrown on top. For $1.79 each? Hmmm, if they weren't so obviously a startup I would have commented on that. In summary, we would return if we were back in the area. Good job, guys!
(4)Mari P.
The best chicken shish kebab I have had in my life and their hummus is amazing! The service is excellent and the portions are a really good size. I eat here every other week. Delicious!
(5)Michael R.
This place was right next to the hotel I'm at and it had some good reviews, so I gave it a shot. Ordered the vegetarian plate because I wanted baba ghanoush, though I realized afterward all the plates have this as an option (big plus). Pitas were hot and the hummus and baba ghanoush were extremely good. My favorite was probably the falafel, though, which was the best I've had out of new York. Hot and made fresh. Highly recommend this place.
(5)Tif C.
This is our FAVORITE Mediterranean restaurant in the Dayton area! The hummus is excellent and full of flavor. Their pita is light and fresh. There's a full compliment of appetizers and desserts to go with any dish. I typically do not enjoy Falafel but found theirs to be incredibly tasty. We are always impressed with their quality and presentation. Finally, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We couldn't think of anything that disappoints us about this place. Give it a try!
(5)Kelsey C.
Went in for the first time and immediately felt the heat coming in the door. It was so hot inside, they didn't seem to have the air conditioning on or any fans/windows open. I sat down and the waitress greeted me but told me the drinks were canned soda, also they have no tap water so you have to buy bottled water (which is the same price as the soda....) they do use plastic utensils but I think that's normal for Mediterranean restaurants. I got the lamb and it seemed a bit dry but the hummus was excellent! I'll eat here again but only for take out.
(3)Joseph H.
First time here. The best beef shawerma that I've had. It absolutely blew my mind. This is a place that u would go to a few times a week. Probably not the classiest place since they serve on paper plates, but the food more than makes up for it. I highly recommend this tasty place.
(5)Dawn O.
We are from out of town and wanted something close...we walked over from our hotel. Amazing food!! Very nice staff and for take out it was huge portions!! If we ever come back to Dayton we will be back!
(5)Joe N.
Had a falafel here for lunch and it was very good. The falafels were crispy and the veggies were fresh. It was a nice portion for the price but i was tempted to order another one after i finished. My only criticism is the service is pretty slow during rush hour, but the staff was friendly to make up for it. I will be going back to try other items since the food from the other tables looked and smelled great.
(4)Michelle G.
The food here is pretty decent. I got the beef, lamb, and chicken skewers served on a bed of rice. It came with a side of Arabic salad (which was a mixture of cucumbers and tomatoes), hummus, and pita bread. The food was seasoned really well. I enjoyed the flavors. The beef was well done and I typically like it medium. The lamb was ground which I don't really care for. I think I would just opt for the chicken next time. I really enjoyed the Arabic salad. I didn't like the hummus or the side of tzatziki sauce. They were incredible plain. I did like the garlic sauce. I also had some of my friend's falafel and I thought it was pretty good. Overall, the restaurant is a nice change of pace from the chain restaurants in the area. I plan to go back.
(4)Jeremy T.
Great Mediterranean food!! This is my favorite place in Dayton. If you like Mediterranean food, definitely give this place a try. Although I could tell they get many of their items at Sam's such as paper plates and drinks (not a bad thing), I quickly forgot because the food was soo good!! Thank you for bringing this place to Dayton
(5)Karen D.
Had a great lunch! The veggie platter was good and plentiful. Hubby had a chicken dish with rice. We had delicious leftovers that night at our hotel.
(5)Sharon S.
Very good food. Probably the friendliest restaurant I have ever been to. Very nice to our kids. Humus was good. Falafel was good. Loved it.
(5)Jessica S.
Seriously this place is great. I spent a lot of time in Israel/middle east and this is as authentic as you can get. Great hummus and Shwarma. Shwarma comes with all toppings and sides of tahini just like you'd get in the Middle East. Great food great job and thank you.
(5)Oliva M.
Food is fantastic, but you can not be in a hurry to fine in or carry out. Half the time they dont even answer their phones during lunch time.
(4)Mike J.
Amazing food! Got the vegetarian platter and it was delicious. One of the best hummus i've ever had. They are still new so dont expect incredible service. Still has somewhat of a fast food atmosphere but the quality of food makes up for this. The owner is a very nice guy.
(5)N Z.
I got a kebab wrapped in a pita with some tahini sauce. It was tasty, authentic, and inexpensive. It felt healthy too. Yaffa Grill: full flavors, friendly staff. Seems like the ownership and most of the staff is Arab, though I'm not sure what country. This is NOT a Greek, Pakistani, or Persian place trying to pass off as Arab, this is the real deal. At first I thought the prices were high (as a rule, good Middle Eastern food is cheap) but then I looked at what you get and a lot of the dishes come with sides and a drink, so after you consider that it's actually very reasonable.
(4)Eleana M.
Best Eastern Mediterranean food I've had in the States. Great hummus, dips of all sorts, rice and kebabs. I wish I'll have an opportunity to visit this place again. Lots of cheap options as well!
(5)Yan K.
Fantastic, one of my new favorite Middle Eastern restaurants in the area. It's a small, busy place, so more convenient as a take out spot, but friendly people and really great food!
(5)Lara C.
The food was pretty good (not as good as our favorite Mediterranean place - Olive Tree in Hilliard). The portions were shareable and the flavor was good - Shish Kabob was a little fatty for us, chicken shwarma had very very little chicken - mostly rice. Hummus was good and the pita was very good. It was pretty busy and seating is limited. We were a party of 4 tonight. When our food arrived we were provided with 4 forks, but only 2 napkins and there were no napkin holders at the tables... Our main issue was that though all of the kitchen staff wore gloves while preparing food, they kept pulling their phones out of their back pockets and texting - while wearing those gloves and then continued prepping food.... No washing or changing gloves. I am just guessing that the phones where not sterile. Over all it was ok - certainly not the 41/2 stars we were looking forward to after reading the reviews.
(3)Tina B.
This place is a hidden gem. My husband and I happened to be staying close by and decided to try it out based on all the good reviews. Boy I am so happy I did! This place is awsome! It is probably the best Mediterranean food we have ever had and we've had a lot. We had the chicken shawerma with arabic salad and hummus. It was sooo good we came back and also tried the veggie plate with a side of spicy turkish salad. It was fantastic. If you are ever within 20 miles of here and like this style food you should stop. It will be well worth the drive. :-)
(5)Lorali L.
First of all, Charissa, I love you. You are the funniest girl, and I'm so happy you're as crazy about the garlic sauce as I am. I've never had a better experience with customer service. Now for the place...The greatest restaurant in Fairborn. The prices are amazing for the portion sizes, and I'm pretty sure I'm set for a week! I asked for the Chicken Shawerma dinner entree which comes with rice and a choice of two sides- I chose hummus, and Turkish salad, which is almost a salsa, but with a definite unique and fantastic twist. Insert innapropriate licking here. For my friend (first timer), I recommended the mixed grill for its variety in meat, and he really enjoyed it, asking for baba ganoush (smokey like) and hummus as sides. A must when in the area!
(5)Carrie A.
Hubby brought home food from Yaffa last week. It was our first time stopping there and I was impressed with what he took home. I had the Yaffa Mix Grill (chicken, beef, and lamb) with hummus and Arabic salad. (Dairy free) . Hubby had the Kafta Kebab with hummus and yogurt salad. We also shared a large order of flat bread and falafel. The meats were all amazing, especially the chicken! The flat bread was awesome. I wasn't a fan of the hummus, but that's just me. Hubby loved it. Yes, hubby waited about 20 minutes for this take-out order, but I can see why. The food is all fresh and clearly not sitting around in a warmer. Good food takes time, people!! I will add atmosphere to my review at a later date when I go in one of these days. We're planning to go for the lunch buffet next to get a feel for the broader menu!
(4)Charlotte B.
Overall tasty! I read a lot of reviews of Yaffa Grill, so I decided to try it while I was staying at the Air Force base. I tried the hummus appetizer and beef shawerma sandwich combo. The food was overall very good, I just thought the hummus was going to be better. It was a little plain and could have had more seasoning. The beef shawerma was good, the beef was very savory and had a lot of flavor. I especially liked the crispy fries it came with. For all that food and a drink I paid about $10. Good price and you get a lot of food! There's a lot of seating, I went around 5pm and it was pretty empty inside. If you are looking to try something different, I'd recommend coming here and giving it a shot!
(4)Roberta R.
I'm not sure what new information I can provide; it looks like everyone else has written what I would have. The food is excellent, portion sizes are very generous, and the service is fast and friendly. The hummus was the best I've ever had and the garlic sauce that comes with the Chicken Shawarma was the bomb. The ONLY reason I won't give 5 stars is the use of styrofoam plates, paper plates, and plastic utensils. Not only is this a poor financial choice for their bottom line, but it's bad for the environment and really cheapens an otherwise great lunch. Come on, Owner, don't you think your awesome food deserves to be presented with a little more class? I do.
(4)Jonathan K.
The word "authentic" immediately comes to mind on the first bite. Ordered the kufta kebab which came with large portions of pilaf rice, hummus, and baba ganosh. Very clean and open place hidden on the end of a plaza. For 11.75 you could easily share this with 2 people. Lots of food! Servers were polite and ordering process was seemless. The confusion between full-service and half service was a little confusing. Ordered at the front expecting to pick it up and then go sit down but was told to sit down and the food would be brought to me. I would have left a tip on my receipt if I knew (no cash). Overall, great, simple, quick experience. Would definitely come back here again.

Yaffa Grill is a petty good place for food. If you go during lunch they even have a lunch buffet with most of the options on their menu. You could do the buffet or order what you want, but I would recommend the buffet since the food is already cooked. The hummus here was good as well as their chicken shawerma. The service is a little slow, but it's not too bad. There is also plenty of parking for the restaurant since there is a huge parking lot for Yaffa Grill as well as other stores. I will be back!

Wanted to write an updated review after getting no service / no food the last time. We like the Yaffa Grill, the hummus is some of the best around and the rice is awesome! Everything else is ok. The service this time was fine, no big issues really, A-ok experience overall.

Always love Mediterranean food! Their kabobs were tasty and flavorful and the Greek salad was very refreshing. The price of the kabobs was very reasonable for the fact that you get two sides and bread on top of it. Left very satisfied!

Whoa buddy I liked this place a lot! First off, the food was high in quality and fresh. The lunch rush gave the place a bustling vibe. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. If it's your first time here and want to dine in, go ahead and grab a table of your choice, menus are on the table, and a waitress will come by shortly to take your order. I ordered the Yaffa Mix Grill, which came with beef, lamb, and chicken, cooked skewered but served with the skewer removed, on a bed of rice, which was sweet. My favorite meat was the beef, which was steak quality, well-seasoned, well-cooked, with no chewiness at all. My second favorite was the chicken which had an Indian-tandoori kind of taste, and was also tender and juicy. I didn't love the lamb as much; it was ground and pressed, much like a hamburger patty, but shaped long and skinny. My order came with two appetizers (or sides). I chose the hummus because it was recommended on Yelp, and the Turkish salad based on my waitress' recommendation. I've never been in love with hummus but this was some of the best I have had. It had chick peas and a spicy red paste in the center, plenty of oil, with parsley and a kind of spice I didn't recognize around the whole dish. I really liked the Turkish salad. It is tomato-based, has pepper seeds, onion, and parsley in it, and tastes a little like American chili without the beans, but served cold. It was perfectly spicy and had a great kick. Both dishes came with a plate of pita bread which was served warm and if not made there then at least so passable as freshly baked that I couldn't tell the difference. My waitress was really nice and came to see me about four or five times during my 20-30 min dining experience. The restaurant was completely packed but people were filtering through easily and everyone seemed to be getting served happily. I had to ask for a to-go container because you can definitely make two meals out of one entrée.

Wonderful! First visit and will be back. Got a to-go order of kufta kebab with baba Ghanouj and hummus. Lots of food. Chose to save some for next day's lunch. $11.75

Good Mediterranean food and the price is very reasonable.. Not a very fancy place but the food is great.. It's the first time for my Sister eating Mediterranean food and she enjoyed it.

The food was delicious but the service was lacking. I will give them slack because there was 2 big parties and 2 waitresses for a full restaurant. I had the beef shwarma and it was enough for 2 meals. I will definitely go back

Came back today for the lunch buffet, food is still amazing and there is marked improvements in the service. The lunch buffet is a pretty good deal, for $10 you have the option of chicken, beef, hummus, falafel, baba ganoush, and more! As a tip, try to get there between 11:00-12:30 as they don't refill the buffet as it gets closer to 13:00.

What a wonderful surprise! Normally, travel to AFRL in Dayton is not exactly a culinary expedition. In the past, I enjoyed Submarine House for their delicious and decadent cheese steak sandwiches, but they closed the nearby location. After that, it was all about The Pub at the Green (still the best evening destination for me). But, I needed lunch, and Yelp led me to Yaffa Grill. THANK YOU YELPERS! I fell totally in love with this place. My expectations were tempered by past experience that, sadly, Yelp reviews sometimes scale to the quality of the local food offerings, and I expected no more than a 3-star lunch. Boy was I surprised this time. Wonderful, friendly staff, you can tell they love their restaurant, know they make special food and love to talk about it, and reverently serve up plate after plate of perfection. Yes, these are paper plates. Yes, this is a very casual decor, and you do order from the table and pay at the counter. Who cares, when they make food this good just broaden your horizons and enjoy the experience the way they choose to deliver it. If you can't appreciate what I'm saying, you probably aren't worthy of this food anyway. Everything I ate for lunch that day was amazing, and the best of it's type I've ever eaten at any Mediterranean or related establishment (Greek, Lebanese, the salads are even reminiscent of some I've had at Persian places). The waitress was so enthusiastic she gave me several free samples to try, and I was so glad for it. I had the vegetarian sampler, which is an amazing deal and way to sample the food if you want a light lunch, and you get a ton of food. You get 5 pieces of falafel with tahini sauce, tabbouleh salad, at least 4 pieces of grape leaves, baba ghanouj, and pita bread. The waitress insisted I try the eggplant salad, and the yoghurt salad, and the turkish coffee, so I got some samples of that too! Every single thing was the best I've ever had (well, the pita was just pita, and for me it would have been better slightly toasted and warm for texture), but the stuff that mattered was out of this world. You think you've had good hummus? Wrong! This was just so amazing! Falafel?--wrong again! Crispy on the outside, break them open and not only do you find steamy chickpea richness inside begging to be dipped in tahini or hummus, but you discover that they are bright green inside! No idea why, but it's a nice visual bonus. Delicious. I loved this place so much, I was back for lunch the next day to sample some other side dishes, and the meat! The waitress steered me to the Beef Shawerma. I thought I knew what this tasted like, but I was wrong! What they brought me was something entirely unexpected and different, really amazing, succulent, and delicious. Loved the arabic salad too. I left full, happy, and also sad that an airplane to Dulles awaited me in the evening. Feeling a bit guilty that my girl wasn't there to enjoy it with me. But wait, who says she can't enjoy it? On the way to the airport, I made my 3rd stop in about 30 hours at Yaffa to bring food back to Virginia! No trouble with TSA, and they packed it so well there were no problems or spills with my large bag of interstate takeout! It became dinner at home, and leftovers for breakfast, and I think even one more snack after that. Sadly, it's gone. Happily, my stomach will now growl with excitement the next time Dayton beckons me for travel, as I know where I'll be going first to eat, this time probably to try the Shish Kebabs. :)

The day before an old friend and I were to disembark for the Middle East, we ate @ Yaffa, one of my friend's best-loved eateries in all of Ohio, where he has lived w/his family the past ten years. He joked that we would be fortunate to find anything in the actual Middle East that was anywhere near as good as Yaffa Grill. Turns out my friend was right: the food at Yaffa wound up being far superior to just about anything I personally tried in the Holy Land. I especially loved the gigantic sea bass, lightly battered and crisped. The owner/chef, upon learning it was my first time @ Y.G., gave us a large sampler platter including hummus, pureed garlic, and of course, baba ganoush! Any Yelp review where I get to legitimately mention the Baba Ganoush is mega cool, and like everything else there, including the gigantic Greek salad w/lamb kabobs, was the bee's knees. This was a true dining pleasure and experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to not only recommend Yaffa Gril, but to return and spend mucho dinero there. Cheers, to their lasting success....

These are the restaurants I love to find! Nestled behind a string of chain restaurants, Yaffa Grill offers a delicious break from the norm! I enjoyed a chicken schwarma pita with a side of hummus, and it really reminded me of being in the Mediterranean. The flavors are fresh and vibrant! Don't let the paper plates reduce your liking of them; they obviously care about the quality of their food more than doing dirty dishes!

Food was great. Staff and owner need to go. First off, decide what you are. You walk in to a casual restaurant and the first thing you see is a large menu board above you and a staff member at the cash register your inclination is to order food at the cash register. Each time I've been there I've been told to sit down in a rather annoyed tone by the person at the cash register (most visits smelled like cigarettes). Fine, I get it... I sit down and you take my order. Then the food is brought to you. Enjoy the food and hope the waitress I observed sneezing 3x in the kitchen isn't too sick because I don't really want what she has... At the end of the meal you have to pay at the cash register. There are self serve garbage cans in the dining area. Here's a tip, you're either full service or self service, this half-baked hybrid concept is annoying. Here's the real beef... we were foolish enough to eat here THREE times to try the food and to -try- to place a large catering order for party of 30 adults. I left my contact information once and talked to the owner twice. Did I get a call back? Nope. Nope. Nope. I guess some people just don't care about quality and the customer experience. Needless to say this was all a great excuse to write off Yaffa and to try Pita Wrap Grill down the street. Pita Wrap Grill got our large catering order and their food and hospitality are A+++. We've got a new authentic arabic restaurant, just a minute away from Yaffa.

Wonderful food and service. I had the mixed kabob plate (chicken, beef, and lamb), with baba ghanooj and hummus. It came on a bed of rice and everything was delicious. My companion and I split the plate and a Greek salad and were completely stuffed. The price is reasonable and the portions generous. Will definitely return!

I lived in Dubai for 3 years and I know a good Mediterranean food! This place is the real deal!!! I'm visiting the family of my fiancée here in Dayton and read about this place here in Yelp. Lately the ratings here in yelp were kinda questionable but this place totally deserve a 5 star! This is so authentic from meat tenderness, rice, white sauce, hummus and ba ba ghanoush! The fattoush was also sooo good! Man, I just hope people here can appreciate this business and support it cz it will be shame if they close down. Order the mix grill and its to die for! Spread those white sauce on it and enjoy!

Had the chicken shawerma, arabic salad, and hummus! Wow! All amazing. Service was fast. What more could I ask for. I'll definitely be back.

Small diner like setting. Amazing staff! Very authentic food. Just a wonderful find! We had the kufta and the falafel sandwiches. Many people who know the authenticity of the food were here as well as several apparent Midwesterners.

This place has awesome authentic Arab food. Their hummus and their chicken dishes are so fresh and flavorful. They're quick and efficient, their order is always ready whenever they say it is. The prices are reasonable too, and the people there are very friendly. I would recommend this place to all and everyone.

This has a pretty good buffet for lunch. The place is still under construction. But it doesn't affect the dining area.

Hands down the best Mediterranean food I've ever had outside of Europe. The kabobs may not look like much, but just wait till you taste it. Definitely don't miss the hummus. If you order an appetizer and main entree, you'll have to take the spectacular baklava home with you because there's no way you'll have room for it. Thank goodness they just finished their expansion, because waiting for thirty minutes at the door for a table while smelling that awesome food was torture. Other reviewers have criticized their paper plates, plastic utensils, and canned sodas, but I guess they have different priorities when they go out to eat than I do. I say, if Yaffa Grill needs to serve on disposable plates to keep their concentration on the food, go for it! I'll gnaw that kabob off the stick like a dog with a bone if I have to. Having said that, cleaning the bathroom every once in a while wouldn't hurt, and it'd also be helpful to put soap and towels in there.

Excellent Mideastern food. I had the kafta-ka-bob on pilaf with hummus an baba ganoush, my DH had the Yaffa Mix Grill with Arabic salad. We both loved our food. The only minor iussue is the plastic utensils which are not very good at cutting meat.

I really enjoy this place, it has great vegetarian selections and the new lunch buffet is really a great deal. I took my wife here last week and she also had a great lunch. She enjoyed one of the chicken dishes that they also served at the lunch buffet. A great place to visit for lunch if you are close to Wright State or Wright-Patterson.

I love Yaffa Grill. I follow a vegan diet and they have a lot of options. Their Eggplant Salad and falafal are the best.

The Mediterranean cuisine is first-rate. The Owner is the chef, he takes personal pride in everything, and the night I visited, his extended family had arrived for dinner. It couldn't be better: "home cooking"; lots of happy people; everyone was fully enjoying themselves. I ate too much, because the portions are larger than I'd expected and the food is all great. I had lentil soup, stuffed grape leaves and the Yaffa mix grill - grilled steak, chicken and lamb, all over rice. All entrees are served with two sides; I had hummus and baba ghanouj. The main courses are grilled to order and are fabulous! This is a high-value restaurant, with modest prices, paper plates, plastic utensils, a cold case for drinks, and plastic laminate tables. There's there is wait-staff. Eat in, or take out. It certainly must be successful, because they're about to double in size. It's right off the highway; there's plenty of parking. It's within walking distance of plenty limited-service hotels: Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Homewood Suites, etc.

This place is fantastic! The hummus is the best I've ever had and all their meats are full of flavor and cooked perfectly!

Positives: Shawarma was very tasty and for $7 you get the sandwich, fries, and a drink. The service was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere wise, it's a small, diner like restaurant at the back of an equally small market. I like that kind of thing, but your mileage may vary. Negatives: The sandwich was smaller than some places, but for what it's worth, I'd guess the super-sized version is a bit of an American adaptation. I found the size to be adequate. The fries on the other hand were plentiful and crisp with the right level of saltiness. The market seemed mostly to consist of packaged goods and some meats. In Toledo and Detroit area it is easy to find Middle Eastern markets that have a lot of fresh produce and a large enough selection of goods that you can do all of your shopping there, so this place suffers somewhat in comparison. Also the selection of available dishes available at the restaurant was a bit limited in comparison. Conclusion: Good food and friendly service, I will definitely go back when in the area. I look forward to trying more of the menu. I'm new to Dayton, but so far the best Mediterranean type restaurant that I've been to here.

Wow!! Best middle eastern food I've had in a long time. The chicken shwarma was crispy and perfectly spiced, hummus and Arabic salad were really flavorful and the pitas were hot and soft. Quick service, easy in and out - what a gem!

What an awesome place . The food is outstanding and extremely reasonable in price. The owner is super friendly and will explain the menu. He even provide us with samples which were all off he chart. HIGHLY recommended!

Since Moose's in Springfield closed recently, my family has been missing Middle Eastern food a lot. Going from 3 x per month to zero was rough! I am happy to report, however, that we shall no longer have to go without our beloved shawarmaa, our baba ganoush, our sumac sprinkled on our hummus, our falafal! We have found our new fix, and it is called Yaffa Grill. Such a broad range of flavor profiles; not the "one note" chain garbage. This food captures a spectrum of flavor - from the bold to the subtle. The only part of the experience we found more satisfying than the meal was the hospitality showed to us by the owner, himself. Truly generous. Truly interested in treating us as his guests. We can't wait to become regulars.

Great place for a great meal.. I got the mixed grill, with baba ganoush and Arabic salad.. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly..

They expanded. Good thing. However, they started serving a buffet. I hope they keep the quality and lose the buffet... We'll see

I'd stopped by the Quizno's Subs across from Wright State a few weeks ago, only to see that a new restaurant had taken up next door! "Ah-ha!" said I, "Mediterranean food! Yum!" I'm a late comer to Mediterranean food, having only first tried it down in Orlando on Jules' and my honeymoon. But in the last few years, I've had some great experiences. Moose's Restaurant in Springfield, Cedarland in Dayton, and Pasha Grille over at The Greene have all given me a glorious taste of Greek/Turkish food. Yaffa, in terms of food, is quality. Jules and I arrived for lunch last week and we left stuffed. My kufta kabobs were pleasantly spicy, the rice pilaf was done to satisfaction, and the server pulled us a wide variety of Mediterranean salads and sides that really satisfied. I can't say the food is better than Moose's, really--Moose's garlic sauce pushes everything over the edge! But, it's good, it's fresh, and it fills you up. If I do have a complaint about the food, it's the pita bread. There are numerous bakeries around Dayton, but Yaffa's bread come straight from a plastic bag. That's a big disappointment for me, because it'd be easy to do it better. What kills me about Yaffa, though, is the ambiance and decor. The restaurant barely feels like it's open, with bare walls and little in the way of decor. There's no soda fountain or the like; Jules and I were served our drinks with cans from a mini-fridge and given plastic utensils to eat with. Plus, for whatever reason, the friends of the owners have made Yaffa into something of their personal hangout, sitting and laughing loudly, while not actually eating or ordering anything. If it sounds like I'm overly negative towards Yaffa, I don't mean to be. The food was truly good and there was plenty of it. But, if you're planning to go there, stick to take-out. You'll get the pleasure of the food without the negatives of the ambiance and decor.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The service was the best I've had in my life. The food is incredible. We had an assortment of pretty much everything. I wish I had four stomachs to fit more food.
