Never again. I don't typically write bad reviews, I know everyone has an off night, but when the owner says to you "I don't know what you want me to do about it." and continues to charge me $50 for a meal I couldn't even eat, well, it's on! Food? Meh, go to La Scala, better quality, better price. Atmosphere? You tell me, do you like strangers sitting in your lap? Service? We requested a table when we got there, her response? "we'll see, you may have to sit in a booth". Utterly disappointed. Had to take our overpriced, under seasoned food home. I had to pay for it so I am going to choke this crap down if it kills me.

One of the best Veal Parmegeans in the country. Service is good. Food is high quality and high quantity. Great attention to detail - the bread's butter is home made and delicious. The salad is different. Every dish is delicious. Highly recommend it.

After we tried going to Angry Bear and 101 Beer Kitchen unsuccessfully, we ended up at Moretti's. What a happy accident! We walked in and were promptly seated. The atmosphere is dark and quiet which would make it a great place for a date. Currently, there are tasteful holiday decorations. We looked at the menu and I decided on the penne with meatballs while my date got the shrimp pizza. The food took quite some time to take, admittedly. But once it came, it was great! Mine came with Italian wedding soup. It had spinach, carrots, meatballs, and noodles. It was really hot, but really good once it cooled down! I wasn't expecting anything to come with my pasta, so it was a pleasant surprise. My pasta was really good. The red sauce was slightly spicy and had visible tomatoes and spinach in it - yummy! This is the kind of pasta that you know will be just as good as leftovers, which is amazing, especially considering the portions were huge and you'll definitely have a doggy bag! My boyfriend really enjoyed his pizza, too. Our waitress was genuinely nice. She filled up my soda twice and offered to fill it up a third time and boxed up our leftovers for us as well. Although the menu isn't the cheapest around, we paid less than $40 for a nice Italian dinner, which isn't bad at all. We would definitely try Moretti's again.

Fish tacos are yummy!!! Love the outdoor eating area! Had great service and even stayed open late for us! We never felt rushed and our waiter Travis made us feel so welcomed and explained everything on the menu perfectly!

Fred B. pretty much hit the nail on the head and took the words out of my mouth: the best, most authentic Italian in Columbus.

Came here for the first time last evening. I was a little skeptical because its in a strip mall and its definitely not the classiest setting. But didn't your mom always tell you not to judge a book by its cover? BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN COLUMBUS. I say this as an Italian who's family owns Italian restaurants all over Pittsburgh. I had the manicotti, which was fantastic. The ricotta stuffing was a bit sweeter than most recipes, which made it all the better. Sauce was divine. Dinner was started with bread and homemade (I assume....) garlic butter. I opted for Italian wedding soup as my starter, which was still good, but I prefer my wedding soup to have more orzo or dittalini and meatballs! I took home my last manicotti and we had to skip on dessert, we were so full! I give service four stars. We definitely weren't "wined and dined", but our server was polite and efficient. The dining room is small, but quaint. I literally called my Nonna (Italian for "Grandma"!) to tell her that I think I just found the best Italian restaurant in Columbus!

We went with a group in the small meeting room. Service was great, food was super yummy. I loved the salad and that it was included with the meal. I had the lasagna and it was perfect!

Food was good, service was not. The bread and herb butter were tasty. It would've been even better if the bread were warm. The pasta dishes were large portions (thus softening the $20-25 per plate sticker shock) and you could tell things are homemade. The service put a damper on the whole experience though. Similar to complaints others have made, our waitress could not be bothered to serve us. She made us feel like a burden. Our waters were refilled once and then left dry for the rest of the night. We never saw her again after our food was dropped off. It wasn't like service was bad throughout the restaurant. We watched the girl serving tables next to us bust her butt. She brought more bread when her tables ran out of it (something our waitress did not do for us), she refilled waters regularly, and she checked on her guests throughout the night. Server with ID 10 on the evening of 9/11/15 needs to be canned. She's not doing her job. Also, we saw cooks smoking in the kitchen -- yuck.

I seldom like a thick-crust pizza, but the one I got from Moretti's on Sawmill was excellent! The crust was airy yet had a good crunch. The sauce did not over power the other ingredients but served as a backdrop to good pepperoni and big, fresh mushrooms. The cheese added to the pizza but did not hide the other flavors. All in all, the pizza (which we ordered through Skip the Dishes) was perfect for a Friday movie night.

I had been craving some home made pasta for a couple weeks. I knew the place I needed to visit was Moretti's. This is a family owned business that uses family recipes. It is nested within a small strip mall along Sawmill Road. Pasta, bread and sauces are homemade. This location is quite small and often times very busy. Be prepared to get cozy with the neighboring table. There were a lot of "excuse me" as folks were sliding in and out of the restaurant and when the servers passed you by. Volume can get a bit loud as a result. I do suggest making a reservation or at least calling in advance if you want to venture here for dinner. There is a large bar that lines one wall of the interior. Seating along the bar can also be tight. They bring you a small mini-loaf of homemade bread with their own butter spread that contains garlic & herbs. The butter is wonderful, but without being too sinful I spread it on their homemade bread. I'm addicted to both, unfortunately. Menu items are served with your choice of soup or house salad. I enjoy their house tossed salad. Add gorgonzola cheese for extra zing. I have tried a number of items from their menu in the past. Most portion sizes are quite generous. It is pretty common to take the extra home for a second meal. My recent visit I had their Cannelloni. Its baked egg noodles filled with ground veal and covered with their tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. The tomato sauce has a bit of kick to it. Although tempted to have dessert, I was simply way too full. Service has generally been pretty responsive and personable. They do offer an outdoor patio for warmer days. It does lay right up against a very busy parking lot, but is comfortable on a nice evening.

Oh my gawd yum. Don't let the fact that it's in a strip mall on Sawmill deter you. It's crazy good. The salad that comes with entrees is inexplicably delicious. Holy moly. Marinated tomatoes? Yes, please! The garlic butter for the (plain) bread? Uhhhmazing. The bread is just a butter delivery tool if you ask me. Chicken cacciatore is my absolute fave, but the eggplant parm, spaghetti, and a lasagnas are all delicious, too. They clearly make their pasta and sauces from scratch. Note that the wine and beer selection are not particularly inspiring. But the deliciousness of the food will intoxicate you enough. Not super cheap, but check out their website for their nightly specials, which will save you some bucks. Also, the portions are so huge most anyone would be ok splitting an entree.

This is an awesome Italian place. Must order pork sausage appetizer and sausage lasagna. I crave this place after a few days of not eating here.

BEWARE!!! The owner is rude and shady billing practices are commonplace. My family and I visited the establishment last night while there were truly eight of us two of them were babies therefore we did not think that they would be included in the total guests. You see a party of eight or more and like most places they add an 18% gratuity to your check which is fine. The total of the bill came to $336 my husband rounded up to 400 and we left. in the parking lot I asked him how could the bill be that much I could not make it add up in my head. I went back in and asked to see the bill the hostess who told me she is also a server got the bill for me and I asked her to point out to me where the 18% gratuity was she admitted that she could not read the hand written check very well and had trouble finding where the server added it on. Keep in mind she has more light standing there than any of us do in this dark restaurant at any of the tables not to mention we were in the very back corner. She finally found some sort of small...very small scribbling where 18% had been added on. I simply scribbled out our $70 tip and re totaled the bill. I was upset because I felt that the server knew exactly what she was doing in making this not legible. I asked to talk to the manager the hostess went to get the manager came back out and informed me he was too busy to talk with me. I gave her my number and ask her to have Tommy the owner call me the next day. When he did not call I called him. he immediately was very brash I kept a very calm tone and explained the situation. He began to tell me that he nor his his server had done anything wrong and if I say they did that I am a liar those are his words a liar. I asked him why he was becoming so aggressive with me as I was very calm and trying to have an adult conversation. He continued to yell at me and call me names and tell me that he didn't even have to have this conversation with me. I very calmly told him that neither myself nor my family would ever be back to the restaurant not because of the incident that happened last night but the way he the owner was handling a customer. His response to me was that he did not care he did not need our business he has a big enough business that he doesn't need or want people like me in there. I have never in my life been spoken to the way he spoke to me. I told him that I believed the conversation needed to be over I wished him a good day as I was hanging up he called me a bitch. I will say the food there is pretty good the service was mediocre. We had to ask our server multiple times if we could have a refill on water. We had to ask multiple times if she would please clear our appetizer plates in order to give us more room because our food had come we were squeezed into the very back corner and we didn't have very much room to begin with. She was not very friendly at all and it seemed like we were just an imposition to her. She also kept running her hands through her hair which sort of grossed me out a little bit. And when taking my oldest grandchild to the bathroom I was shocked to see one of the servers take a straw out of a drink taste the drink put the straw back in and serve it to a table. I can only hope that table was her family. It is an extremely loud restaurant this was a Tuesday night and they were busy as busy as you can be for a very small restaurant but it was so loud it's hard to hear one another speak. Lastly it is extremely expensive the quality of the food and the cost of the food do not match there are many more Italian places in the Columbus area that are much better have much better atmosphere much better service and now I can honestly say much better owners. Lastly when I suggested to him that I would be writing an article on yelp he told me "that's not even a threat to me I don't give a damn about yelp anyone who gets on that is stupid anyway"

One of our two "go-to" spots for Italian in Columbus. Hand-made pasta and sauce... you can tell the difference in a heartbeat. Huge portions, so very easy to split an entree between 2 people. The chix parm, chicken moretti, and lasagna are excellent. Sauce on chicken moretti can be a bit overwhelming... watch your portions with that dish or you and the toilet are going to cozy up for a while (cream sauce). Side salads are OK, but enjoyable (marinated tomatoes). Bread w/ their garlic butter is delicious... when we do takeout I actually save the leftover garlic butter and use it on grilled steaks. Bar is alright, wine list kind of stinks for this place... they could use some work there. Restaurant interior is dimly lit, more intimate/old-school setting and decor. It works. Good sized bar area w/ nice setup. Service has always been friendly. Reservations are a good idea, and for dine-in or carryout, their daily deals are a great option to save a few bucks. Excellent food, highly recommend.

Surprised I haven't reviewed yet. Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant in Columbus. Fresh pasta and great chewy ravioli. Portion sizes are huge and salads are delish. Old fashioned decor, but you feel right at home. Red sauce is thick and flavorful. Yum!

I have fallen in love with this place. Freshly made daily products including a delicious homemade sausage that is great as well as tasty sauces, pasta, pizza, and a chicken marsala that my GF wife loves not to mention fantastic meatballs are all aspects that have made this restaurant one of my favs in recent months.

I have been coming to Morettis since I was in High School (mid 90's). Food hasn't changed, still the best Italian in Columbus. I love the Calamari when they offer it as an app, some of the best I have ever had anywhere! I always go with either the Eggplant or the Veal Moretti: The Veal is amazing and its enough to feed 2 people!

The location is incredibly questionable as everyone has mentioned, but once you are seated I promise you will forget you are in a strip mall. This place has a special place in my heart because it was the location of my husband and I's first date! But nostalgia aside, the food is incredible. Every thing on the menu is just amazing, the bread and the salads are also! The Shrimp and Sausage Pasta is my favorite dish! Lots of great wines offered too! Romantic and intimate. Great place for date night !!! oh ps. the butter that comes with the bread is good, but ask for red sauce to dip it in!!!!!!!!

Moretti's should post their restaurant as being "Italian-American" cuisine. For as a true Italian spot .. meh .. but as an Italian-American spot .. it's pretty darn good. Frequent readers of my reviews know I'm s stickler for authentic cuisine. I have studied historical origins of foods and when I visit a spot and see something on the menu that piques my attention .. I quickly order it up. Such was the case tonight. My little sister and her husband were in town from Southern California, so my older sis and I decided to take them to Moretti's .. which I've never been .. but is a favorite place of my sister's. I began my meal with a salad featuring "Creamy Gorgonzola and Bacon Dressing" with greens, tomatoes and onions. Rather good dressing and I was quite pleased. My sister raves about the "Veal Moretti" at this establishment AND my not really knowing what that was?? lead to a dilemna. This was solved by my partner in crime ordering it so we could share the experience. Being the "stickler" I wanted to try their version "Veal Marsala" WHICH origin is "Scaloppine al Marsala". Every trattoria in Rome offers up a rendition of this dish .. be it veal or chicken .. cooked in a Marsala wine sauce .. but the dish is indeed Jewish in origin .. nonetheless .. it has spread throughout the world and is quite delicious. Moretti's version was no different. My "Veal Marsala" featured sauteed mushrooms in a rich wine sauce and a side of pasta in red sauce. Despite having too thick of sauce .. traditions ya know .. my "Veal Marsala" was very good. The pasta in red sauce, however, was fair at best. My partner in crime's "Veal Moretti" was tasty as well .. WHICH ended up being a breaded veal cutlet buried in an "Alfredo" sauce smothered with poached mushrooms. I personally wouldn't have sogged the veal cutlet in a sauce if I were the chef, because the parts that weren't covered were crispy and very flavorful. I wanted THAT part .. but hey that's me. Still .. it was very good. Wine selection needed more "Italian" wines on the menu .. especially whites .. there weren't really any. I would suggest Gavi, Orvieto, Verdicchio or Frascati. These are as good as any white wines in the world. Find a distributor Moretti's and get some in. All in all .. I think Moretti's is a very nice spot for an "American" version of Italian cuisine and I will be back!

It's been awhile since I've been here and I'm not sure why. But the barmaids still remember me and that's where I emded up eating again, at the bar. And there's nothing wrong with that. The service is just great and the wait on you hand and and foot. I stared of with a bow of wedding soup and it's the best in town. I mixture of small macaroni, carrots, celery, in a special broth. Delicious!! For my main course I ordered veal, which is what I came over for. Veal Parmesaen to be specific. It was served over homemade spaghetti and the veal was sooo tender!! I'll have to make it over again before long.

we went on a Saturday at 5:00pm no reservations. No greeting and when they found out we didn't have a reservation she yells across to the lady by the bar "can we seat a walk in?" They conferred over the seating chart...still no eye contact or nice words to us. I offer to sit at the open bar... No response. She grumbles around and finally says " seat them at table ? But we have a reservation coming in at 6:00". Wow that made us feel completely unwelcome and a burden. Food was great but we weren't wanted for sure. Not going back

Moretti's is located in a small strip mall and from first glance a person may not think it would be a good place to eat but nothing is further from the truth. It is a small place but very clean. First off I would recommend making a reservation as the locals really like this place. We tried to eat here the night before but there was a 90 minute wait. Also, in the hour plus we were there, I know they had at least 5-7 takeout orders picked up. The average price for a meal was around $22.00 but you really get your monies worth. They offer some wonderful Italian food. Once seated, they bring out a loaf of bread and homemade garlic butter. The bread isn't warm but it is golden brown and very fresh. There were 4 of us and we ate 3 loaves. I had the chicken parmesan which came with Alf redo noodles in red sauce with a house salad. The salad included the normal salad items along with some green beans, spiral and round spaghetti noodles. The house dressing was light and taste. The main course was very large and delicious! The juicy, tender chicken breast was covered with cheese, mushrooms and the tomato sauce was thick and really flavorful. My husband had the sausage lasagna and he really liked it but it was too spicy for me. Anyway, everyone had something different and we all come away very content and with enough food for another meal. Service was excellent and the waitress seemed to read our minds because she always showed up when needed but not in a pushy fashion. The next time I'm in Columbus, I will truly eat here again.

I wanted to take a picture of the tiramisu BUT the meal was so good, upon its arrival we swamped it before the waitress could come back with the left offers in a box. With homemade sausage, bread, pasta, butter spread it really is satisfying and it feels "real" in the sense it's not like chain restaurants, and not cutting corners that some independent restaurants suffer from. I would recommend it to any one. Also, you will have left overs, it's enough for two separate meals. The Italian wedding soup is as good as they say too. The service was prompt and thoughtfull too.

First impression as I walked in- smelly old dish towels. That really set the mood for my dinner date. I had high expectations for this place because my friends raved about it. I ordered the Chicken Cacciatore with wedding soup. First off, the wedding soup was a bit salting so I didn't drink much of that. I tried my friend's salad and it was pretty average with the typical lettuce, tomato, olive- nothing out of the norm. The chicken cacciatore tasted good but the handmade pasta was a disappointment. I ate fresh handmade pasta in Italy, China, Veritas tavern(restaurant in Delaware, Ohio), so I know what fresh taste like. The texture was harder and stiff like pasta that's been out for a while and starting to dry up. The portion was humongous- cut the price & portion in half and improve the quality of handmade egg noodle.

This is one of the best Italian Restaurants hands down! I've been there several times and my friend even had her rehearsal dinner there. Needless to say my tummy was uber happy. I love their calamari, salad (with pasta in it, freaked me out at first) and their lasagna. I can't wait to go back...

So, I lived in C-bus for years, and this was one of my go-to Italian favorites! Located in an unassuming strip mall, once you open that door, the smells smack you right in the face, and your mouth begins to instantly water. Ambience: first off, this place is SMALL. The bar area is cool, with a long bar stretching what I believe to be the length of the restaurant. Makes for a cool place to hang out b/f you have dinner, but if there's a wait, just stay at the bar and have your dinner there. There are a few booths by the door, but the main eating area gets awfully crowded and the decibel level is at an all time high during peak hours (around 630pm-8pm). The decor is a little dated, and the tables are extra close to each other, so you'll get to know your fellow dining neighbors really well, but it's all good, b/c the food you're about to have makes it all worth it. Food: They had a appetizer special--calamari. THIS was no ordinary calamari appetizer. These things were breaded lightly, but were huge honking sized calamari pieces served with their signature tomato sauce. Fabulous....just FABULOUS. I always order the sausage lasagna/casserole. It comes with soup or salad, but I always order it with a salad with gorgonzola cheese. Pay the extra money for that stinkin' cheese. It's creamy and delicious and gets you going for your entree. The salads are always fresh, crisp and ultra cold, served with spaghetti noodles in a zesty vinaigrette dressing. I've had their wedding soup also, and it's just as delish (I don't know why other Yelpers have complained about it being salty when it's incredibly flavorful!!). Now about my entree: HOLY HELL...now, I've been to Italy, and food is served simply and incredibly fresh. My casserole was exactly that: simple and incredibly fresh, made with their homemade sausage, tomato sauce, spinach noodles and ricotta cheese. Sausage is full of flavor, but the tomato sauce is tangy with a hint of sweetness. Noodles are not soggy, and the green color adds to the lovely presentation of the dish itself. Get this dish. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. My fellow diners ordered the Chicken Morretti, Chicken Picatta and the Pep & 'Shroom pizza with anchovies. They all loved and raved about their orders, and after sampling from each of their respective dishes...yeah, I'd rave about them too. And for all you naysayers of anchovies: BOOHOO to you b/c good 'chovies add incredible flavor with that yummy saltiness so needed to sometimes bring up the level of a dish. Desserts ordered were tiramisu and the chocolate chip cannoli. Huge and way way above average. Don't forget to order these, if you have room after your entree. Service: it's hit or miss, and you gotta be patient, so that's where I have to take off one star. They are incredibly busy and it's a family owned restaurant. I expect the service to not be outstanding, but they still get the job done. Allocate at least two hours...order a bottle of vino (#127 from the wine list is pretty damn good!) to chill out to. Go but make RSVPs. Your stomach and taste buds will thank you for it.

Looking for something different for dinner, I consulted Yelp. After reading the other reviews for this Italian eatery I decided to give it a try. Other reviews had prepared me for the strip mall location. The interior was nice. I decided rather quickly on salad and the the sausage casserole. On Tuesday this selection was $14.00.There was plenty of food and I was only to eat 1/3 of my salad and 1/2 of my main dish. I had it packaged to go and I may just use the refrigerator and microwave in my hotel room for a low key lunch or dinner tomorrow. With that in mind I could have a great cup of coffee and dessert tomorrow. Now the search is on for this perfect combination! I know my fellow Yelpers won't let me down, they never do.

Homemade pasta! I had the Pasta Primavera with spinach noodles and asked for a mixture of the tomato and cream sauces. Excellent dish. The entrees come with bread and soup or salad. The house salad was good, even if a little unusual since it had pasta in it. I'll definitely return.

I was difficult to even rate this place with 1 star but I had to. Nothing positive to say about Moretti's. I tried it for the first time last week and had was sick for the next 48 hours. Go to the grocery store and buy some Prego and pasta, it will be better than anything on the menu here. Bland "Italian" food, I don't get what the hype is all about from the other reviews.

  • Nate L.

My experience with Moretti's was quite favorable. Granted, I had company and that tends to distract me from the actual food. The biggest draw back I saw was the huge portions served. I couldn't even finish half my plate. The soup offered was hearty and the bread worked well when sopping in the soup. I also saw no noticeable problems with the waitstaff. The reheat on the leftovers wasn't so great; it's much better the first time around. If I could have received half a plate of the Chicken Moretti, I would have been completely satisfied.

  • Rory B.

The pasta is great. The portions are huge (ravioli the size of baseballs) and the specials are a great value. The downsides are the salads (some reason super salty every time) and the bread was always cold. I just skip the salad and go straight for the cheese ravioli or the chicken parm.

  • Erin D.

Have heard so much hype about this place...that it disappointed a little. Small dining space, bar looked pretty nice, will sit here next time. First sat at a tiny 2 top against the wall and felt so crowded and asked to be moved. Salads were great and a generous portion; good greens, light vinaigrette and also included a few noodles of pasta. Hubby had their sausage/pepper/chicken combo-very tasty! Definitely would order again. I ordered the classic lasagna. I wasn't as impressed...had better. It needed salt, once I added, improved dramatically. I also think I prefer beef lasagna over all veal. The chocolate chip cannoli was the best I have ever had. Lots of ricotta and very generous portion. Was close to licking the carryout container, but restrained self. Good place, not cheap, but if you have ever made homemade pasta you would understand why.

I take it back, Columbus does have one good Italian place as it turns out. Moretti's was in fact great and i'm hard pressed to to say boo about anything. Ok, the bread was served cold, but that's about it. The Italian wedding soup was hearty and authentic, the crab cake appetizer was more of an entree and the lemon sauce was top shelf. We did a chicken parm and pep/mushroom pizza. Both were big portions coocked perfectly with nothing tasting out of a box. I'm looking forward to trying the Chicken catetori next time. Things are a little cramped, but i can understand them wanting to make the most out of a strip mall location. I found staff to be very pleasant, but i think they could use a few more waitresses on duty.

It's a good place to go to relax, have a few glasses of wine, and enjoy some good, filling Italian food. It does get busy quickly, so your best bet would be to make a reservation ahead of time so you're not stuck waiting for a table. The portions are pretty big, and all the dishes I've had there so far are hearty and bold, as opposed to lighter fare. Unless you brought a really big appetite, you'll have leftovers for lunch the next day, and really, what's better than some nice, spicy sausage lasagna you've thrown into the microwave for a quick, satisfying meal on your break? (and the in-house sausage they make is pretty good, too) The entrees all come with soup or salad, and if the soup is Italian Wedding Soup, you might as well opt for that over the salad. The staff are all courteous and quick to bring drinks, refills, and the food always comes out with enough time for good conversation, but not so long that you get to the awkward pause when some of you start to wonder where your meal is. I really enjoy going here on those nights that I feel like eating Italian, but not so big on cooking it. But again, if you're going, get a reservation, so you don't need to worry about wait times. It's on Sawmill, and we all know how busy that street can be.

I love Italian food. Probably one of my favorite foods to eat. This restaurant is incredible. It is a small restaurant, but honestly who cares?! The food and service makes up for it. I encourage you to try their fettuccine Alfredo. It is made fresh daily and it is the best I have ever had in my life. You can order it by itself, or with one of their platters on the menu. The prices are good, and the portions are huge which is a plus for me! Their pizza is incredible as well. My wife and I usually split a pizza and a meal which is plenty for two people. The salads are incredible as well. I recommend trying to sit in a booth because the general seating area can be a bit tight at times. The fettuccine alfredo is divine. You will thank me.

I love the food here and give it a 5. I hate the atmosphere here and give it a 2. I have roasted in here in the Summer and frozen in the Winter. They need to get a good heating and AC contractor in here to get it figured out.

I chose to go here for my birthday dinner based on all the positive reviews here. Thoroughly disappointed. There is no ambience here whatsoever unless you're at the bar. We got the calamari special. The breading for the calamari is sweet...pretty strange. The marinara was good though. My husband asked me how the wedding soup was... I said it's good chicken soup with macaroni pasta. Our entrees were decent ... veal marsala with mushrooms sliced 1/4" thick, chicken piccata and chicken parmesan. We weren't too crazy about the homemade spaghetti, which was served in mounds with our dishes -- too much. If you are looking for a lot of food, come here. For a finer dining experience, definitely go elsewhere.

I ate at Moretti's for the first time last night. Very nice decor (especially surprising since it's in a strip mall). Our waitress was great; it sounded like she's had just about everything on the menu and loved it. They had a calamari appetizer that evening and it was delicious. Most restaurants do small pieces of calamari, but these were huge! For my entree, I had the sausage casserole; the restaurant makes it own sausage (it had a nice little kick) and their own spinach noodles. The portions there are very large, and I look forward to enjoying my leftovers.

I ate here for the first time tonight. I had the lasagna, it was awesome. I read all the reviews before going, do not let the poor reviews keep you from going, Great food, great service, strip mall location is not inspiring but the inside is ok.

My husband and I live near the Short North and there are great Italian finds, but we make the drive to Moretti's because you can feel the love in the cooking. The portions are huge so we start with the incredible bread and butter which is full of garlic and mysterious ingredients I plan to steal. We share a bacon gorgonzola salad with black olives and then share a plate of sausage lasagna. Yes, it's $20 for a plate of lasagna but we share and have enough for leftovers. We have a special place in our hearts for the owner because I forgot to make New Years reservations and we called the owner who was in the kitchen by noon. He told us he was booked, but was so kind to say, I'll get you in, just come on over. It's the love of great Italian food, the heart of a generous owner, and delicious house wines that keep us coming back nearly every other weekend. The Short North has great Italian offerings but we will drive the distance for Moretti's and so should you!!! I promise, I don't work there. Cheers friends!

The food at this restaurant was amazing. Definitely try the eggplant appetizer. We split a chicken parmesan dish and also ordered the vegetarian pizza with no onions. When at first the chef made the pizza with onions, he remade the pizza without onions and then comp'd it from the bill. The chicken parmesan dish filled us up so we took the free pizza home! Oh and don't skip the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert, it is fantastic.

Totally average Italian food at an overpriced cost. The dining experience is downgraded by it's cramped seating area, which many might call "cozy" or "quaint" but if you're rubbing elbows because of space constraints, I don't find that enjoyable. Additionally, the location is in a strip plaza right next to an Indian restaurant, the smell from which consumes you prior to enjoying your Italian meal. I'd elect for another Italian restaurant in Dublin rather than go to Moretti's again - even the totally commercial, non-authentic Olive Garden. At least I get what I'm paying for there. And the calamari was way too chewy, so I recommend skipping it as an appetizer.

Great restaurant on Sawmill. Love their spinach lasagna and always call ahead to make sure they save me a piece because I have gone before and they are out!

Very good Italian. We were surprised how good it was given the location (somewhat run down strip mall in central Ohio.). The inside was elegant but small. The butter for the bread was amazing. The sauce is on the sweet side, which I like. The service was good. The waitress took good care of us without hovering. Nice wine selection. The specials (listed on a separate card on the table not in a menu insert) are deeply discounted and excellent. They also are set for each day of the week. We will back the next time we are in town.

I've been traveling a lot for work, and when I do I am constantly relying on my Yelp App to lead me to the best local spots when I am in a foreign place. My app definitely did not fail me leading me to Moretti's. On a rainy Tuesday, this place really made my day. When you walk into this very unassuming spot in a strip mall in the suburbs near Dublin, you wouldn't think 5 star quality food. But once you get your meal, you will be blown away. Each day of the week they have a special deal, and Tuesday's are casserole day. I can't begin to explain how good my casserole was, so just follow these instructions: ORDER THE SAUSAGE CASSEROLE!!! It was sooooo gooooodddd. Spinach noodles cooked to the perfect al dente texture layered in between gobs of cheese (ricotta, I think), then layered more with sausage and covered with a spicy tomato sauce and more sausage and more cheese. IT WAS HEAVEN!!! I would drive back to Columbus all the way from St. Louis just to have this meal again. The wine of the week special went great with my meal. The only knock I can think of is that it is a pretty small venue, so they kind of jam you in there, but I kind of liked that. It gives it the old small Italian cafe kind of feel. Don't let me forget about the butter that came with the bread. It was almost like a cheese ball - butter mixed in with herbs and peppers and spices made the just average bread taste full of flavor. Great Italian food in the most unexpected of places. Just remember to order the sausage casserole.

I had mixed feelings about Moretti's tonight. I visited for dinner with a number of colleagues and found the following notes you might want to consider: * The waitstaff didn't know what a french martini was although they were very nice and attentive. * The bread and garlic butter on the table, although not warmed, was very good. * Their Italian Wedding soup was really quite good, although I would expect people to want to pepper it up a bit. It didn't have the normal pasta beads, but I don't know enough about the soup to know if that is authentic or not. The flavor was very good. * The Veal Moretti was a travesty. This was intended to be a veal cutlet, breaded with linguine in a cream sauce with mushrooms. It was more along the lines of a pound of butter sauce, because the sauce had no flavor other than that. I, of all people, love me some butter, but a cream sauce should NEVER be so buttery that it tastes like that and one can see the congealed butter in the candle light. I couldn't get down more than a few bites before I gave up. The staff offered to get me something else, but most of the food didn't look that much better. The location is nothing to write home about but the staff is very nice.

This was the first time out for my husband and I alone without our four kids in a very long time. We moved to Hilliard from southern California earlier in the year and have been searching for new places to eat. We found a gold mine at Moretti's. The food and service were both fantastic! We can't wait to go back! The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the tiny cramped dining room.

If your idea of italian food is endless combinations of sauces pastas and the occasional meat this place will convince you otherwise. You've really never had italian until you've visited this strip mall secret with its campy mafia decor. It's pricey but worth it. The portions are generous and they welcome sharing. Food is always fresh and piping hot! Vegetables are in full form in all of the dishes, cheese is of serious quality, and the meat is lean. This is a nice treat with friends to celebrate or commiserate. Also a nice break from your typical italian chains and the cameron mitchell monopoly. You'll find me there with close friends sharing a bottle of wine reccommend by the extremely knowledgable and efficient staff over a HUGE half portion of the vegetarian lasagna. This place almost makes me want to move to the suburbs.

Has to be one of the top Italian places in Columbus. We love the spinach fettuccini with white sauce and the creamy gorgonzola and bacon dressing salad. Tonight we also tried the lasagna, which was very good as well. Homemade pasta and sauces.

Well, well, looks like I spoke too soon. First off, do not come here if you are counting carbs because pasta is in EVERYTHING. I do mean everything too. Soup or salad? Doesn't matter, they both have pasta in them. Every single entree does as well. I am dismayed they haven't found a way to work it into the tiramisu yet. Back to those house salads, they had very old rotting lettuce in them. A quick scan of the steel cage death match sized dining room was horrifying. Everyone else's salads were gross, but they must need new glasses because they couldn't see rotten lettuce inches from their face but I can see it two tables over. Don't know why they couldn't taste/feel it with their mouth as a final layer of defense either. The wedding soup was a much better choice, but the eggs in it had been cooked hard, a la egg drop soup style, and in case you don't know, they're not supposed to be that way. They are supposed to be stirred in at the end to lend a creaminess to the broth. My friend has a penchant for cream sauce on his pasta, so it was no surprise his predictable ass ordered exactly that. Too bad that they decided to put an entire stick of butter in the sauce. I am not joking. It was ridiculous. He said, "tastes like the butter sauce they put on the popcorn at the movies." That make you hungry? Naw me either. I tasted it, shit was wack. Oh, and the wine was lacking this time. I am guessing that they have a price point set in stone, and if they can't find anything decent below it, they'll serve up some swill. The servers all appear to be photogenic airheads from the local high school. Thought that was just the one I got last time, but they're all that way. I'd prefer a homely competent chick for a server truth be told. The only positive things I can say are: wasn't as traumatic as my last visit to Olive Garden, and the sausage they make really is great. They should sell that stuff at Carafagna's or somewhere. Fazoli's 1 star Olive Garden 2 stars Moretti's 3 stars Columbus is lacking in the Italian restaurant department. I guess all the people that gave the Italian Village its name have moved away....

Good food, good service. Really enjoyed the green beans with garlic. Had traditional spaghetti and meatballs. Delicious!!! Yes it may be a bit pricey, but you won't leave hungry and in fact you'll have another meal because you can't eat it all!! I will definitely be back.

I haven't lived in Columbus in 5 years, but I am always looking for my "Moretti's". They have a decent wine selection, great food in a fun atmosphere. Once you step inside, you forget you are in a strip mall. When ever I get back to Ohio, this is the first place on the list.

My favorite place for Italian in Columbus. I love their wedding soup and although I do try something different every once in a while, I usually stick to my favorite - spaghetti and meatballs. Homemade pasta and the sauce is just right (not too sweet and the right amount of garlic). The veal meatballs are amazing. I could write a whole review on the chocolate chip cannoli - out of this world! Yes, the location is a little 'different' and the seating is cramped, but after trying MANY so-called Italian places in Columbus, Moretti's on Sawmill is worth it! Also - don't make the assumption that Moretti's of Arlington is just another location for Moretti's on Sawmill - although I think some of the same family recipes are used, they are not the same restaurant. My meals at Moretti's of Arlington have been disappointing compared to Moretti's on Sawmill and the sauce is totally different (and not in a good way).

Food is 4-5 stars, definitely, but the atmosphere lacks. Even with a reservation, expect to stand at the cramped entry, getting bumped by people exiting. It's extremely crowded which obviously attests to their food, but it gets pretty annoying getting bumped into 10 times while on a date. Anywho, the food is great from the bread, salad with gorgonzola to the salmon pasta dish (only thing I've ever ordered).

Comfortable emvironment, great food (Love the white sauce) and HUGE portion....usually my perfect combination for a 5-star rating.. but I have to give it a 4 star for the price...a little bit on the expensive side for pastas.. and the place can be crowded on weekends so expect for a little waiting time...

Unquestionably the best traditional Italian food around. The portions are enormous. We always bring home doggie bags with at least a whole extra meal in them. The wedding soup great. As for the atmosphere, it's nothing special, but it's completely in character of the old-style Italian without being campy (like so many Italian restaurants do). Staff is always friendly and efficient.

Great traditional Italian food. Had their pasta special. Pasta is homemade and perfectly Al dente. Marinara had just a little spiciness to it and the home made meatball and sausage were awesome. As good as it gets whether you are in NJ or OH.

This is the best Italian food we've found in Columbus. The food completely out classes the location, and the 'bang for your buck' is better than any place else. The sausage is made in house from an old family recipe, and it is amazing.

A terrific little place. Intimate and cozy. Their sausage is terrific. I love the Shrimp and Sausage dish....that is if I haven't filled up on their great bread for the table. Wedding soup...good. I've been here three or four times. Always a fine meal. Expect entrées in the $25 range. You're getting what you paid for. Expect leftovers. Great for an anniversary or special occasion meal.

Best Italian restaurant in the Columbus area - hands down! My husband and I have been going here since 2006. We try to go at least a couple times a year. I highly recommend their manicotti and their crumbled sausage and penne. The bread is baked fresh every day (and you can totally tell). The whipped butter is a tasty concoction of...well, I'm not quite sure. I'm guessing shallots, garlic, perhaps some herbs. Whatever is in it, it's delicious. The servers are great, and the wine selection is pretty good as well. Don't let the exterior turn you off. It is located in a dated strip mall. The inside is rather small, so make reservations! Or sit at the bar. I have never sat there, but I know they do offer specials at the bar occasionally. Do yourself a favor and go to Morettis if you are looking for excellent Italian food. Also - it is rather pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth. My husband and I always have leftovers for the next day - mmmm!!!!

Moretti's is the best Italian food I have eatten in the state of Ohio. The food is outstanding and the portions are enormous. I always fill up on their fresh daily baked bread and famous whipped butter so taking home leftovers is quite the norm. My signature order is to start with the tossed salad w/gorgonzola cheese and then order the Chicken Moretti. Lightly breaded chicken, with mushrooms, topped with mozzarella cheese over fettuccini in a cream sauce, putting it mildly its the reason I come here! Moretti's is great if your dining in and honestly its just as good if your taking it home to the family. I highly recommend Moretti's for their amazing food and thats whats going to bring you back!

A couple family members took me here for dinner a couple nights ago. They're both OSU alum and seem to like this place for nostalgic reasons... that's gotta be it because it can't be the food. Bread - Big hunk of bland white bread. Like wonder white. Italian wedding soup - Giant bowl overflowing with chicken broth, noodles and veggies covered with shredded, chopped up chicken. Chicken parmesan - Eh - it was ok. Eggplant parmesean - Too much cheese, too much garlic. Spaghetti (homemade) - Tastes like egg noodles. Weird. I wouldn't go back. Too many other good restaurants in Columbus.

I travel extensively for work, so I Yelp all my restaurant choices. And Yelp hasn't steered me wrong, until last night. And it wasn't Yelp's fault. The reviews were largely outstanding, however, when I ordered the lasagne (normally $20, but $14 last night) for carry out, I could only eat three bites before I threw it away. It smelled like decaying gums and that grossed me out. Not sure which harmony of ingredient aromas produce that smell , but it was unbearable. The blueberry cheesecake was huge, had a nice texture and was very good. Not sure I will order there again.

Best authentic Italian hands down. Almost everything is homemade, the bread, soups, meatballs, sausage and most noodles ( lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti, fettuccine, cannelloni, manicotti, etc )!! You see people coming in and being treated like old friends from the staff. Occasionally you'll see someone just walk right into the kitchen and you immediately hear loud, warm Italian greetings. The portions are big and you'll most likely have leftovers but the food is just as good the second day and you almost wish you hadn't eaten so much at the restaurant because now you're craving more. Sometimes we get Morettis in our heads and it almost starts a Pavlovian salivating response and we have to go get it! Oh, the carry-out portions are the same size and are given the same attention to detail, unlike a lot of other places where the carry-out is nowhere near the dine in experience. This location is by far my favorite. This location and the one in Arlington are owned by brothers but their cooking styles are way different. Their mom makes both locations her amazing cheesecakes though!

The best, most authentic Italian in Columbus. First, I am more Italian than anything else. My great grandparents came to the U.S. on a boat from Italy. I have dined here probably more than 50 times. I always get the same thing - the cheapest thing on the menu - homemade pasta, homemade marinara and homemade meatballs. Sometimes I add sautéed mushrooms too. I'm not cheap - it's just the most perfect spaghetti you'll ever have. Just like my grandmother made - from scratch. Nice bar and wine selection. Great bread and butter. Tons of other delicious entrees. Yummy desserts. A simple, great Italian restaurant. Oh, if you can handle the fat grams and cholesterol, get the crumbled sausage & peppers in cream sauce. OMG, trust me...

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
