Vaquero's is like many Mexican restaurants that you would find across the country. Not authentic, but satisfying and tasty. I ordered the steak tacos, and my boyfriend had the seafood fajitas. The food flew out of the kitchen and was pretty good. My guy's fajitas had nice sized shrimp and scallops in a very generous portion. My tacos were great and the server was nice. The establishment is clean and it looks like it is a Delaware favorite. I'll probably be coming back in the future.

Not a fan. More cafeteria or commissary type Mexican food. One thing that makes my spouse flip her lid is how fast they serve the food. Get a drink, boom - great, then the ap and before you have taken a second lick off the edge of your glass and another swig, wham, your meal. We are talking 'seconds', not minutes. The thing that is a total grind with me is how EVERYTHING is smothered with cheese and sour cream. That is great for the hillbillies and their ill-mannered, rotten, kids. Amazing how they leave the table after they are done with their 'fat intake'and buckets of "Mon'en dew"...

It's the best mexican food in Delaware. That said, don't expect true authentic mexican - this is firmly in the Americanized Mexican category.... with the exception of a few items. Salsa is generally good, but very mild. Cheese dip is very good and has been called liquid crack by many who try it. Tip: The Sopa Azteca (Aztec Soup) is great.... but only at this location (they make it differently at the other locations). Stay away from the ground beef... pretty much steamed beef with little or no flavoring - the worst of their meat choice. They are always fast (even when there is a line out the door) and reliable.

When We moved to Delaware 12 years ago Vaquero was only game in town. Now, it's one of three and sadly the food is still the same blah presentation, flavor and quality. Since my '11 review sadly the quality has continued to slide. Staff is always friendly - though wife is sometimes creeped out by attention of waiters - and prompt.

I like this restaurant! I know it doesn't have the best reviews, but I personally have never had a bad experience. Their guacamole is really good, and you can't go wrong with their margaritas!

Started off with the handicap entrance being a dangerously steep ramp then awkward maneuvering through the doorway. Surprised it past code. The food hm.... Perhaps I should of traveled on down to Taco Bell. My daughter ordered a chicken taco salad, that when served was swimming in juice and dressing. The lettuce was soggy & the taco shell fell apart from being soaked. My dish of shrimp, peppers, & zuchinni/squash had no flavor & was placed over soggy cheese whiz type nachos. My husbands pork dish was more fat than meat. Will not go back, but go to owner operated Mexican restaurant's instead of a chain. Should of gone down to Powell to Azteca, but had a coupon for here.

Four years of the same food and the palate understands that the food here is mass produced and served like a cafeteria. Whatever you order has been prepared for hours already. Staff is great. Always is. Food though is a terror. And the decor needs a serious do-over.

I've been here a couple times with my fiance, and neither time we were disappointed. Both times we really enjoyed our food. I had the fish tacos, and I was surprised for how good they were. It is definitely a place I will return to.

Good food.. served quickly! The Delaware location of the Vaqueros chain has been a family meeting spot for us for many years. They are always able to accommodate us quickly, no matter how large our group is. They have several large dining rooms, including a large banquet size room in the back where we had a 60th Birthday Party. Generous Margaritas. A huge menu with typical Mexican dish combos, as well as a la carte items. Don't order until you are ready to eat, because the food comes FAST!!!

In the last week I have heard from two different people that got food poisoning from this location. One of them said when they entered the restaurant there was a weird smell like rotten food. Beware of the cheese sauce. They think it was the cheese sauce.

Good food, good price. Service is always quick but very rarely are they happy to see you.

Well, i hate to say it but vaqueros is on my do not eat list after last night. The food was horrible hence why im home from work today and the service was the worst ever there. Its a shame because iv been going there for years and its been declining for a while now. They must have forgotten delaware is the community who made their buisness.

Go-to restaurant! Especially when I'm really hungry because the chips & salsa are in front of me before I know it. Fast, friendly, good prices! Note: corn tortillas available if you ask.

Was one of my family's favorite restaurants until ownership seemed to change is early 2009. Food is still ok, meat is often undercooked. Seems that focus was taken off quality of food to improve speed of service. Margaritas are hit or miss depending on if they are made right. Sometimes they taste like cheap rubbing alcohol or are watered down. I tend to lean toward their specialty margaritas because they are made individually and not ingredients dumped into a machine. Chips, salsa, queso, and steak items are my favorites on their menu.

When eating at this location you are offered fast, semi-friendly service; however when you're ready to leave you will be ignored when trying to pay your bill and end up standing for more than five minutes. In addition to wearing patience, ordering carry out is a nightmare. I tried to place a carryout order and had extreme difficulties with the language barrier along with parking when trying to pick up my order. I do not recommend carryout at all.

Ridiculously fast service. If you are worried that your kids need to eat NOW, this is the place to go. Everything must be precooked in huge vats, because it will arrive rushed to your table in minutes. The jalapeno poppers are cheap and yummy, not spicy, just creamy goodness. Kids menus are a joke, pizzas must come straight from a grocers freezer. The #171 is our family fave, with chorizo, chicken and pineapple. Very nice staff, great seating options, extra credit for FAST service.

Good authentic Mexican food, quick friendly service, very reasonable prices. The fajitas were large and tasty, the free chips and salsas very nice, the frozen margarita not so great. I'll just get a beer next time, my fault.

Fabulous Mexican food in a small town, not known for it's Latino population. Vaqueros is a great place to go with friends. They are very willing to make your meal an experience, especially large groups. The food is fantastic. If you are looking for an inexpensive place for authentic Mexican food (none of that Tex-Mex stuff like Taco Bell), this is the place to go. Also, you can call ahead and order for pick up.

El Vaqueros is awesome. No, it's not haute cuisine, but for what it is -- inexpensive, quick Mexican -- it's perfect. Typical huge menu with all the Mexican favorites. I normally get the fajitas, which always feature a lot of beef, chicken or shrimp (or all of them), unlike some Mexican restaurants which hide the meat in a pile of veggies. The place is usually crowded on Friday and Saturday evening; there's normally a wait for a table. If the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is a good choice. Service is competent, quick, and efficient -- the waiters really hustle. There are now five or six El Vaq's in the greater Columbus area, a testament to their quality and popularity.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
