This is out Chinese restaurant of choice! We really like the Lo mein, General Tso chicken, and steamed chicken. The Singapore noodles (mei fun (sp ?) are spicy and good. We recently tried the dumplings and enjoyed those too. The take out is always hot and well packaged with lots of soy sauce, duck sauce, mustard, and fortune cookies. The staff up front are friendly and quick. Give this place a try!

Don't judge a book by it's cover... I almost turned around and walked back out of this tiny strip mall Chinese restaurant. Walking in I had noticed that the glass doors were all smudged up, there were tons of boxes stacked up along the back wall and the place was rather country looking for a Chinese restaurant. I did get a very friendly hello and welcome from the lady at the counter so I stayed. I'm glad I did.... What they lack in ambiance, they make up in good food, fair prices and pleasant service. The requisite Hot and Sour Soup was very good. It was thick and rich with plenty of peppery kick to it. I ordered the Vegetable Kung Pao without rice and got a pretty decent sized portion of steaming, fresh veggies with plenty of spicy sauce. I wouldn't call the dish excellent but I'd definitely say it was very good and it was very satisfying. The lady that waited on my was very nice and polite. The service was fast and the prices were very fair for what I got. I'd definitely go back again although I might bring them a bottle of Windex and some paper towels to clean those windows....

Ordered crab rangoon and found a dead bug on it. Also really rude service. I'm definitely not coming back and wish I could give this place zero stars.

My Chinese restaurant of choice! LOVE their Crab Rangoon... they don't skimp on the filling, and always taste fresh. Their Lo Mein is tasty and if you have not tried their Chinese fried donuts- do so! I have never waited longer than 30 minutes for their delivery service and feel they are friendly people. They do have a dining area, but feel 90% of people do carry out and delivery.

Good Cantonese pan-fried noodles. Pepper Steak is ok, but not great. They have a small dining area, but nobody seems to eat there - all carryout or delivery. Staff isn't very friendly though, and employees in the kitchen yelled at each other on both visits.

Take out here is very good. I always get takeout for Chinese from here when I am craving it and I think they do a good jo of making the food and pricing is great as well. The food is common Chinese entrees but i fee like it tastes a whole lot more homemade instead of reheated and just a part of a large batch. The people who work here are nice as well and will make each entree according to what you would specifically like.

I've actually had good service here. Many times the kids wait the tables and are always extremely polite. Just because the older ones may not speak good English doesn't make the rude. The food isn't bad. I've had better, but I've had far worse. And it is always fresh and tasty. I usually get fried rice and have plenty left for lunch the next day.

I absolutely love this place the people are so nice. Even when they deliver their food is so amazing for the price. yes I could be better but for the price you can't beat it. They have their kids wait on you but they are very polite they do speak in broken English but they get the job done I love this place I always look forward to getting to go to this place when I'm in Delaware.

Best Chinese in Delaware! Beats Canton, hands down. Canton may have been the best years ago but I have tried and compared them both recently. The shrimp are WAY bigger and better at Dragon House and the food comes hot with awesome flavor. Was not impressed with Canton. Actually, I was disappointed because I heard it was so much better. WRONG. Dragon house is cheaper and better. Sweet and spicey shrimp, curry shrimp or garlic shrimp. Hunan shrimp is ok. Crab Rangoon is way better also!

Their take-out is absolutely fantastic. They take a while, but not too long to get to your house. I've rarely ever had them go over their time of 45 minutes for delivery. I usually order the lo mein, which is amazing every time, but their fried rice varies from excellent to sub-par. I would suggest getting take out rather than going to the actual place. The noodles don't seem to have the same taste and the chicken is somewhat dry and too chewy. It's also awkwardly quiet, and feels uncomfortable. The service is also very impersonal and rushed. Either way I love the food, and I will continue to order from here!

I ordered sesame chicken and an order of Crab Rangoon for delivery. They arrived earlier than their quote time of 45mins. Everything was hot and yummy! Whatever sauce they put on the chicken is killer and they have my the best crab Rangoon's around! I'm not sure what they do to egg rolls , but they are sure a step above the rest I've tried in town. The rice was forgettable .. Pretty basic stuff that you'd get at a buffet or something. Also, their shrimp Lo mein is an old favorite of mine.. I used to order it every time went. By the way, the portion sizes are huge! All around I'd give dragon house 4 stars.. Looking forward to trying some new dishes here!

One of the best take out Chinese food places I've ever experienced. I've always picked up my order and it was always ready and piping hot! The Crab Rangoon, egg rolls, General Tso's Chicken, etc have all tasted great! If you want Chinese food in Delaware I highly recommend Dragon House.

Let me say that the food here is pretty good. They actually use chicken breast for their lemon chicken (instead of deep fried chicken(?) blobs I've seen in other places, and everything is served hot and tasty. The rice is steamed just fine (no burnt or uncooked grains), and the egg roll is fried just right with no hard or undercooked edges. I really have no complaints about the food. Indeed, it's one of the better Chinese-American places I've been. The prices are also very reasonable. I am especially fond of the lunch specials that are even available on Saturday (11-3), where you can get a slightly smaller (but seriously, you don't need more) version of popular dinner entrees. Dinner sized portions meanwhile range from $7 for the basic noodles or rice to $13 for seafood filled platters. Most plates average out at about $9, though. This isn't super cheap but it is about average for most Chinese-American restaurants I've been to. They also go a little beyond the basic sweet and sour and have a few more unique dishes like mango or pineapple chicken. The restaurant is also clean and in good shape. The decor isn't particularly interesting to be sure - wood paneled walls straight out of my childhood with a few knick-knacks and Chinese lanterns. It's not a place to go for the ambience. The fake peach tree and peacock feathers at the door are a nice touch, though. So why the low number of stars? Well, as other reviewers have mentioned, the service is... well, it could use some work. Whenever I go, I usually end up standing at the desk for about 5 minutes before I finally head over to the kitchen where the staff are talking\arguing\yelling at\with each other. You can try tapping your feet, clearing your throat loudly, and even singing to yourself but you probably won't get their attention without actually going over and doing so right at the entry to the kitchen. Even then, I always get the feeling that they aren't thrilled to see me. Like I'm bothering them somehow. Things don't improve much if you take a seat. In fact, I think they would prefer you take your take out and go. Orders are taken curtly "What you want?" "Um, sweet and sour chicken?" "White or fried rice?" "Er, white..." "Egg roll or soup?" "Egg roll..." "Drink?" "Water..?" And that's it. I'm not adding or removing anything from a typical conversation. No "thank you" or "okay"... nothing. Not even a smile. Oh and don't ask what is in something. The response won't be very helpful. "What's in the kung-pao chicken?" "Peanut." ....yeah. That's helpful. I do understand that English is not the first language of the people who own the restaurant, and that's fine, but I'm sure that terms like "spicy" or " sweet" or "fried" - terms that are on the menu and basic English words - can be added to help give people a better idea of what they are ordering. "Peanut, little spicy, fried chicken" gets the idea across just fine without getting into grammatical technicalities. The hostess\server\chef(?) is also not particularly attentive. Though it doesn't cause me any problems usually (the glasses are very large so it's hard to run out of beverage), I never see the server except when taking my order, serving the food, and bringing\cashing the bill. No "how are things" or even just grabbing the glass to get a refill. Anyways, like I said. The food and prices are average to good, but I think this is a place you'll want to use primarily for carry out and avoid dining in.

I guess I received the red carpet service. OK - To be fair, there was a very polite, respectful young man who was manning the front desk and taking orders. I assume his mother is the server/hostess everyone who reviewed was talking about. She was overseeing what he was doing. There was only two people dining-in, but it was later in the evening. I ordered carryout for my daughter who is a big fan of orange chicken. The menu here indicated it was spicy, which is unusual for this type of place. Orange chicken is generally General Tso's without the spice and very little orange. I mentioned to my daughter that it was a spicy dish here, and the young man behind the counter said it would be no problem to make it without the spicy. The menu has a few differences than most places, there are some slightly unique versions of the same-old-same-old at other places. Prices are average. Several people came in for carryout who had ordered before hand and were taken care of quite quickly and efficiently. The young man told us 5-10 minutes for our meal. Whenever it comes out too fast I wonder how good it is going to be. This was more on the lines of 15 minutes, which is a good thing. It is enough time to do it right. While we were waiting Mom went over to the diners twice and checked on them. The chefs were talking in the back room, but not too loudly. The Orange Chicken actually had slices of orange in it. Very well done, the sauce was not too heavy, the chicken was indeed chicken breast properly cooked and the fried rice had a nice nutty flavor and wasn't over or undercooked. They deliver for $1.50 within 7 miles of the restaurant. I'll be back again.

When we first moved to Delaware we discovered this little gem of a restaurant and would make the 15 minute drive across town (even though we live 2 minutes from Shanghai) to eat here. Food was amazing and staff was great. Then came an ownership change. Sadly, the food went from being amazing to being servicable. I'm very picky about seafood and saw a rapid decline in the quality of their shrimp and wouldn't order it. The service went from being personal and caring to being more along the lines of a bother. If you want buffet atmosphere at dine-in prices then this is the perfect place for you.

I am a delivery customer and I have had nothing but great food, quick delivery and a charming owner who remembers my favorite dishes. This is a great service in a small town. Great Job guys!

Dragon House is located in a strip mall on Route 23, and boasted a "Top 100 Chinese Restaurants" sign outside, which I assume is like being in the "Who's Who Among American High School Students". We arrived late on Sunday and while it was an hour before posted closing time, there was some hesitancy for them to seat us. Once we worked that out and ordered, we heard pronounced phlegm-coughing coming from the kitchen which was obviously not very appetizing. We were the only people there so maybe the staff was not too worried about ambiance. The food was decent enough but the overall experience was not very enjoyable. Maybe take-out next time.

Food was average, but atmosphere/service was terrible. We were only people eating in & someone in the kitchen kept making horrible phlem/coughing/spitting sounds. It was so gross it was almost comical.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
