Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I love this restaurant. I have never been through by of the perils or bad service people claim. Not that they didn't experience it, just that I never have. Oh, and the true secret to a good margarita... Tell them to make 'em like they drink 'Em.

Easily my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Dayton area. They are especially good for lunch, the prices are very very reasonable (especially considering how much and how good the food is) and their service is very fast. My favorite lunch dish is the Carnitas Lunch (pork cooked/fried until it is tender with crispy outside with the usual toppings and tortillas) but I have never had anything disappointing here. Highly recommended!

Good food, good portions, and reasonably priced. I eat here every time I work in the Dayton area.

While it's been a staple in downtown Centerville for a while, this place is on it's last leg. Like many other pop up Mexican restaurants, it's salsa from a jar, bagged chips, and food that's been in a steamer for the majority of the day. The plates of food come out at skin blistering temperatures because they simply throw it in some kind of warmer to pretend they just made it. This place has been around for a while and it's in a pretty cool building. I'm sure they enjoyed the success of the Mexican food boom many moons ago. But now it's just the same as every other "grande", "fiesta", and "cantina" themed restaurant. My food wasn't bad, but it was definitely far from being something I have to go back and have again. When I got home, I spent the evening letting out some blistering farts.

I had the Arroz con pollo. It was fantastic. They are similarly priced to most other Mexican restaurants around here but the atmosphere is much more like a small restaurant in a village in honduras. Very good. I will definitely come back.

My first visit to this restaurant was not quite what I'd hoped it would be. Usually the parking lot is full, but on this night (a Tuesday), it was not. There had been a thunderstorm, who knows if that had an effect. We were seated promptly. The margaritas were served in plastic cups-we think maybe because they have outdoor seating (?) but we were seated indoors and it just wasn't the same. We ordered the fajitas for 2. The serving was very big. The shrimp was delicious, but the beef was ground beef-like taco meat and was a but odd. The side if rice and beans was ok. The guacamole was ok. The pico was wonderful. I'll try them again, but only if the weather is nice and I can eat on the patio.

The carne asada is delicious! And the service is simply outstanding. Great place, great people, great food!

Dinner looks awesome! .... And it tasted awesome too. :) They lose a star for lacking the proper beans but everything else was aces including the waiter who turned the channel when everyone else had left that section after putting on my favorite show, El Chavo del Ocho. Yay! Eso, eso, eso!

The drinks are pretty good but the food is not very good at all, especially for the price. The service was relatively slow even for a bottled beer. I will probably not be going back. I would try another Mexican Restaurant if I were you.

Not the best place in town by a long shot. Food is OK, salsa was good, and the beer was cold. Service was average, as well. There are better options out there for Mexican food.

The first time I went here was in the early 90's when the restaurant first opened. I am still a customer because I like the food better then the other Mexican restaurants in the area and the people are always nice. While the atmosphere may not rival a high end restaurant, it is a locally owned eatery that has become a landmark to the residence over these many years. I have always been served food that was fresh, fast and consistent.

The food was not the best. It was a little on the greasy side. The service was good and they have a very nice seating area outside. The margarita was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice. Nice place for drinks, but I would eat elsewhere.

I don't know why I don't eat here more often. But I really wish that I did. It's some of the best Mexican food in town.

Best Mexican in town. Love the margaritas too. Our server Maya (sp) is great. We ask for her every time we come in.

First, a waitress started helping us and when we weren't ready to order she left us alone for a few minutes....then another waitress swooped in an stole her table. How rude! The second waitress brought me the worst margarita I've ever had. It tasted like dollar store bottled margarita mix with paint thinner. I had 3 sips and decided not to finish it. My wife's piña colada was slightly more palatable. The food was ok but uninspired. I had carnitas and my wife had green chicken enchiladas. The service was poor to begin with and the waitress only got slower...It took forever to get a check. It was obvious I didn't like my drink as I'd pushed it to the outside of the table and hadn't touched it since. The waitress never inquired about it, didn't offer to get me something else, and didn't remove it from the check so I removed it from her tip although it was so expensive ($9) that her tip only covered about half of the cost. I usually don't ask for much from a tex-mex place; decent food, reasonable prices, somewhat attentive service, and if you are going to charge me as much for my drink as you do for my entree then it had better be made with real limes and sugar (at least mix the syrup at the beginning of the day) and use tequilla that won't make me blind.

I live around the corner from this place and decided to take the family to lunch because it's always busy. After eating there I wish we had skipped it. It was a complete waste of money. The biggest problems were that the food was bland (I don't care where you get it, there's no excuse for bland Mexican food) and it had been poorly reheated in the microwave, so despite the hot plates the food was lukewarm, if that.

The story I have about this place. Went there with a friend for drinks and food around 3pm. The restaurant was mostly empty except that at a nearby table, there was a group of 40 something females, all loud, drink, obnoxious. 2 hours later, 2 of the females are left. One of them begins drunk crying hysterically on her friend's shoulder. At this point, the restaurant is filling up with dinner guests. Everyone is looking over at these women, laughing, or looking with disgust. A few moments later, the woman who was crying throws up all over the table. :\ I think she should have probably been cut off. Our food was good. Margarita's were good. Definitely made with the cheap crap as I had a headache not 3 hours later from 2 margarita's even though I had been downing glasses of water with the margarita's. I don't think I would go back because of the experience I had there. The service wasn't that great even when they were completely dead. Everyone had to walk by the booth where the lady had been sick. She yelled at us as we walked by. It was disgusting and I hope if that woman and her friend's ever read this they are embarrassed to death by it!

We had fabulous service. Were seated right away (6pm Saturday evening) and gone within the hour. We ate the camerones rillenos and a chimichanga. Both were out quickly, perfectly done and hot (temp)! Delicious flavor! The chips and salsa (free!) Were yummy and we had the queso blanca which we recommend! It's Mexican cheese and has a liquid consistency but packed with flavor. Can't wait to go back/frequent this establishment!

I can't respect a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve fish tacos. I also expect a fresh-made margarita if it's going to cost $7. A chemical-flavored bottle mix just isn't going to cut it. That being said, the seafood fajita were decent, though the side of beans and rice was fairly scant. Also, don't waste a dime on the guacamole. It also tastes prepackaged and incredibly salty.

Absolutely hands down the worst mexican food ever! My child could have made better food- definately not authentic, the rice was mushy and gross, not the mexican rice people would expect! The beer was the best part of the meal, wouldn't ever go back los reyes is a much better and worthwhile place to go!

Tried this place while in Centerville for the day after reading a few reviews. I was pleased with the quality of food. The salsa had a nice kick to it and the chips were nice and crunchy. The lunch menu had a good selection for pretty reasonable prices. The food came out quickly and was steaming hot. My only complaint was that our service slowed drastically after receiving my food (the place was nearly empty). I sat with an empty water cup for a pretty good while. Overall, if I were in town I would probably eat here again.

I absolutely love this restaurant, but only if I can sit outside on the patio. The seats inside (booths) are uncomfortable, so if it's raining or during Winter, if I'm craving good Mexican food, I will call in a carry out order. We go frequently during warm weather, and I can safely say they have the best Mexican food I've eaten in this area. The service staff is always friendly, and they check back often to see if you need refills, more chips, etc. The salsa is pretty good - I like a "spicier" salsa, but it's good nonetheless. The food is prepared very quickly, and comes to you steaming hot just begging to be eaten! My husband and I usually get chicken chimichangas, and they are very tasty, and you can hardly eat the entire order! My son is a vegetarian, and we will order carry out for him, and have never had any problems. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great atmosphere, and great authentic Mexican food!

I'm going to say up front that this is my wifes favorite Mexican joint in town. But I'm going to coin a new phrase. "Format Mexican". (FM) There is a change happening in most of the Mexican restaurants around here. Where before, there was the possibility of a truly unique and possibly family-authentic menu offering sneaking on the menu, status quo has been steadily creeping in. Its as if somebody finally published the handbook on what a successful Mexican place should be...and everyone has narrowed down to fit it. This rant comes from experience of the bliss that is possible from the "real" joints, that have cropped up for a brief while...and have one by one been sucked into FM hell. (Sigh. I am haunted by the unpretentious joy of a mole that somebody cared about and served proudly.) This place is good and will please on most levels, but it could be great...and may never get there. Terribly sad.
