House of Thai offers a pretty good selection of American style Thai food and Thai basics; however, it used to be better 2-3 years ago. While it is certainly better than the local Thai options (Thai-9 and Tiki Thai), it pales in comparison to Bangkok Grocery in Columbus. We used to be more regular, but with it being about 20 minutes away, and Columbus about 1 hour away, we usually just wait until we go to Columbus for our Thai now. The owners and servers are nice, and food is cooked to order and usually promptly brought. Everything has always been fresh for us. However the prices are a little on the higher end for Thai restaurants.

The Pad Thai was pretty good and the customer service was ok. We called in early letting them know we had a big group and they moved the tables and everything before we showed up. They have a 12 dollar minimum for credit cards but since our group was big enough they waived that. Not a bad place to eat, and I will eat there again.

The food at House of Thai is a lot of what you would call "Typical Thai." All of the familiars are there and all are pretty good. What gets me here is the price and just general coldness of the staff. I'm a Siam Pad Thai (on Wilmington) fan and seem to compare everything to it...though I try not to...in short you can get a better tasting meal with better service for about $2 less at Siam Pad Thai.

Yum! I just moved here from the west coast Thai is my favorite cuisine well at least one if them :) I was very happy to see this so close to my new house! The service was attentive and friendly and the food really tasty I will return!

Loved the food here. Bento box lunches were awesome. Pad Thai was great, as was the soup. Will definitely be back.

Hmm... I'm not sure about everyone else but I disagree from the other Yelpers. I thought the price was expensive for the taste and the lack of food for the quantity. Most entree dishes were 10.95, even salads! We ordered Mai Thai and a chicken dish, I think it was called Bangkok Combination or something like that, at $14.95. The chicken was overcooked so it was tough and dry, like jerky. Ew. It was like that for both our dishes. The Curry Puffs (appetizer) were delicious. :) The server was excellent. She was very nice and professional with a great smile. After paying $35 for 2 entrees and coming out with tough meat over a platter of vegetables, that was definitely NOT worth the money. I am sourly disappointed.

Some of the best Thai food around. I recommend the Yellow Curry and an Iced Thai Tea. DIVINE!

I stopped here for an early supper. I had the fresh spring rolls. Not as good as Vietnamese, but still very good. I had the drunken noodles with chicken. I was asked hot spicy, and I asked for a "4" out of 5. It was perfect. Very tasty, gave a nice burn to the lips, opened the sinuses, but not so hot it made my eyes water. Service was very prompt, but only two other tables were occupied, one when I got there and another after I got my entree. I hadn't been there since it changed hands. I now have a place to visit when in Dayton. I hope to try a curry dish the next time and the fried spring rolls.

Good food at a good price. Try the lunch box which is offerred daily and provides a variety of the food. Try the Larb Kai (Lime - chicken salad). Light and clean flavor. Very good.

I have been to House of Thai many times. The food is reasonably priced and is very good. The portions are large and the quality or excellent. While a little off "restaurant row" it is well worth it.

Friday I get a text from the boy to 'think Thai for lunch.' Om Nom Nom. The 1st time I had food from House of Thai, we got it to go and I got the Panang Curry which I thought was delicious so I was excited to go back and eat in the pink stucco building =) The lunch box special for that day was the Panang Curry and Pad Thai with 3 appetizers and since those were my favorite dishes I ordered that whilst the boy got the Larb Gai. Whilst we waited for our food, we were brought a small bowl of a ramen style soup and by the time we'd finished our food was served. The previous time I had gotten the curry I got it at a level 4 spiciness which was hot but not overpowering, but I decided for a level 3 since this was lunch and wasn't quite ready for something super spicy! This was a nice level for a casual lunch but if you really like spicy, ask for one of those higher levels. The Larb Gai had such a surprising flavour that I won't ruin it for you - Just go and try it =) I couldn't finish my entire meal but it made for a great snack the next day!

went by for dinner on 4 May 10. Had the Chicken Pad Thai, was near closing so very empty, and a Tuesday night. Pad Thai, i had it mild, was very good, lots of chicken, good flavor, hot and tasty bottom line. Maybe as i was the only one there at the end of the night service was fast and polite; can't pass up on SINGHA beer too.

Easily my favorite restaurant in Dayton. But forget the take-out, the generous portions become really small. It made me pretty angry.

45 min wait on carry out! The meals are expensive. I paid $15 for a meal and got two small shrimp. The servings are extremely small and around $15!!!

House of Thai is a great neighborhood place for some really good Pad Thai. The heat levels are 1-5. I usually get a #4 which is never over the top spicey. I would also recommend the Dayton Rolls or soft rolls for an appetizer. They are always very fresh and delicious.

I really like this little pink restaurant. When I first saw the building I am not going to lie I was a little scared! I always get the pad thai and it is delicious! My boyfriend mixes it up each time and always enjoys his meal. If we dine in the service is always on par and pick up is always ready when I pick up.

We were on a search for Pad Panang and Yelp led us to the House of Thai in Beavercreek. It took awhile before we had a server (the owner I believe) come take our order. He forgot to even ask what we wanted to drink. He also wasn't the most friendly. We ordered the regular Pad Panang and the pineapple Panang. It was good but not the best we've had. The sauce was a little on the runny side vs. thick. Flavor was decent. Generous portion of white rice. The Panang portion was on the smaller side. Waited and waited to get our bill so hubby ended up just standing at the counter for it. Overall I'm glad we tried it, but doubt we come back. Off to try other local Thai places.

Another great meal. Flavor is awesome - the other guys put a little more chicken in a pad thai, but it was great. The place has great atmosphere. It's pretty large and is decorated nicely. The people are friendly and the service is great. I would put these guys in the top 3 in Dayton #1: Thai 9 (but they don't serve lunch on weekends) #2: Siam I have to give a shout out to Tik's as well but they aren't really like these other places. Tik's is more of a "fast Thai" - but very good and extremely consistent.

In this is an over due review, it should have been done the first time around. Hermet and his staff are awesome. All of the food is made from scratch and is as good as it gets!

Went once on a weekday--it was dead. But, I really prefer quiet dinners, so that's a plus for me. Last I checked, they're closed on Mondays. Looks dumpy from the outside, but decent on the inside. Had some sort of duck stir fry that was oily and delicious. Wife had pad see ew that was not bad. Overall, pretty decent.

Ordered takeout from H.O.T. due to the positive reviews and we weren't disappointed. I had the pad see ewe which was excellent and my sister had pad Thai, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be ordering from here again when visiting family in the beaver creek area!

This is definitely my top pick for a Thai restaurant in the Dayton area. The curries are very good, the tom yum is delicious, the pad thai has just the right sourness from the tamarind, the service is friendly. I even wanted to find out where the owner was getting his fresh kaffir lime leaves and he said that he GREW THEM HIMSELF. That's dedication. I asked how lime trees did in this climate and he said that they would grow well enough for leaves only... then he offered to sell me a small tree. I took him up on that offer, bought the tree for cheaper than I could have purchased it online (by quite a bit) and I have my very own lime tree that has survived (with some love and care) in Ohio and Indiana for the past 3 or so years. I named the plant Gus.

We have eaten at both this and the other location when it was open and have never had a problem with anything. The service is always good, immediate greeting, immediate seating, and immediate service. The owner always comes over to speak with us to make sure that the food was up to our expectations. The food has always been amazing in taste and in presentation, One of my favorite Thai foods is Tom Kha Gai (coconut soup) and I have had none better than theirs. Some of my favorite dishes are Super Hero Duck, Rama Chicken, Pad Thai, just to name a few. I always end up bringing home leftovers. Best of all, they USE NO MSG!!! And to finish off your meal, Do not forget the Sticky Rice with Mango! We have eaten here approximately 10 times. Go and enjoy

Only been here 3-4 times but every time has been great! Great and quick service, seems as if the owner is usually there. Great Thai tea!

Pad Thai was very delicious. The building was a little sketchy with its pink paint on the outside, but I found the place to be pretty good. My friend and I went for lunch. It was interesting to me how you could pick your spice level for your meal (1-5). I've never been to a thai restaurant that did that. Overall, I would go back again!

Came in for lunch yesterday and ordered the lunch box which was amazing. The problem was the soup that came out first was room temperature and the waitress was extremely unfriendly and slow. I'm sorry if you hate your job, but don't take it out on your customers. I might come back because the food was that good, it's too bad that terrible service comes with it.

2 thumbs up from me for my first order here. I tried the lunch special basil chic ($7.65) for takeout. The place was busy for dine in which is always a good sign!...but I was still greeted immediately and had my order placed within 30 sec! Like all Thai/Chinese places they had numerous lunch specials...most impressed with the portion size large enough for me to share when I returned to work. On the negative side the cup of soup w/the lunch specials was unremarkable and the outside appearance of the bldg is drab.

The curry Puffs were great. I decided to eat inside instead of take out. I do have to say they could do some remodeling. Overall the food was good and I left the place uncomfortably full.

Gray meat in the pepper steak. And a very dry pad Thai. That's all I have to say. Never trying this place

We always make it a point to come here for our first dinner in Dayton while visiting parents here. Everything that we have had over the years have been wonderful and consistently delicious. This last time, I had the Pepper Steak. The spices were just right! Never crowded, so we are always able to get a seat and waited on right away.

My husband and I were passing through near House of Thai at lunchtime on a road trip recently. It came with pretty good Yelp reviews, so we decided to give it a try. Our first reaction was holy cow this is expensive! A couple spring rolls and crab rangoon and an entree for each of us was over $40. That didn't even include any drinks, because we took it to go. Before we had even taken the first bite, we had already declared that, for that price, this better be the best Thai food outside of Thailand! Well, House of Thai might not be the best, but it is pretty damn good. As soon as we opened our bags, we realized right away why it was so pricey. Portion sizes are huge! A single order of crab rangoon had 6 pieces, the spring rolls had 4, and my chicken fried rice could have fed at least 2 hungry people. I would recommend ordering half of what you would somewhere else. Overall, the food quality and taste exceeded our expectations. Everything was hot and fresh and homemade. I'd definitely stop back in if I was in the area. One note of importance-- House of Thai is serious about spice. Husband accidentally got me a 3/5. I love hot and spicy foods, but it was the top end of my comfortable threshold. I'd like to shake the hand of the person eating a 5!

I'm so glad this place is so close to our house. I ordered dinner from House of Thai a few days and ago was impressed. I actually loved that the restaurant is in a big pink house type of building. Since it's near the base, there are two large maps showing where fellow diners hail from. It was interesting to see that people from Siberia and Iceland are brought to Dayton. The food was great and reasonably priced. We're from the DC area and the prices there are WAY HIGH so our two entrees were priced in the normal range for us. We shared the Drunken Noodles and I forgot what I ordered but the Drunken Noodles were the winner. They were probably the best Drunken Noodles I've ever had and like any good Thai place, they actually made the food spicy like we asked! Will definitely order from House of Thai many times! The owner was very friendly too!

We're new to the area (from the West coast = great Thai) and we were skeptical about Ohio-Thai. This place came reccomended to us by a friend and it's close to home so we gave it a go. As soon as we walked it I had a good feeling about the food, it came across as a family-run Thai restaurant. It was. We ordered lots of great dishes and enjoyed them all. Lots of great flavors and spices in the food. We've been here twice now and we're happy to know that great Thai food is just around the corner. PS: Kudos to House of Thai for bucking the Dayton Thai trend by NOT having Sushi on their menu. Do 1 thing well, like House of Thai. All the other Dayton Thai restaurants also have a sushi bar. If I want a food court I'll go to the mall.

This place is awesome. I love Thai food and this is a great Thai restaurant! The service is great and the place is very clean and spacious. They even had a girl playing live music on a piano when I went. I ordered Pad Thai and wonton soup. The wonton soup was very tasty and very hot. I ordered the Pad Thai at a number 2 spiciness because usually that's more than enough at other restaurants that I have been to, but not here. Number 2 is very mild, so I will go to 3 or 4 next time. The Pad Thai was soooo good. Al the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Portions were very generous too. I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I think I paid $13 for food and a drink. Not a bad price for dinner. Will definitely come back.

My family loves this place, especially for carry out. We routinely order meals for 6 or more people and its ready in 20 minutes. Huge portions, great variety. We get the Panang Curry, Pad See Ewe, Pad Thai and others. The steamed dumplings are a favorite as are the Crab Rangoon. If someone asks where to get Thai, this is always the first place I send them too. I have never had someone be disappointed.

We were looking for some good Thai in the area, and this place hit the spot. I had the Chicken Pad Thai with the medium spicy choice and loved it. I had plenty to bring home for leftovers. I have to say that this place is a hole in the wall restaurant and I was turned off by the ant hotel and the other creepy crawler on my husband's side of the booth seat. I would have given the place a 4-star except I could hardly wait to get out of the building. If you have time, perhaps call your food in and just pick it up to go.

This place is on the top of my local places to get some consistent and great food! FOOD: They have several authentic Thai dishes that I truly enjoy. The Panang Curry, Pad Thai, Pad See Yew are all fantastic dishes. The Panang Curry is my favorite and is made to order and fresh. SERVICE: Always a pleasure to eat at this family friendly place. ATMOSPHERE: Splendid Thai restaurant with great decorations. OVERALL: A fantastic Thai restaurant that I will keep coming to as long as the food is good and hot! Highly recommend you visit and do not get discouraged by the pink building.
