Amazing, if u want naples style pizza that tastes fabulous try this place. Really impressed and that's hard to do when it comes to italian food in a restaurant.

I need to mention I ordered pick up, not a good idea. The food wasn't bad... it just wasn't good. A $13 plate of pasta, a small portion that tasted like something I'd get at any diner. Not awful, but I guess I expected more. The pizza was ok. The crust flavorless, ingredients not that fresh, it's only $13 as well, but I could get something better for the same price at any of the party pizza chains in the area. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. I paid at the bar, and I think that's probably why the place is so successful. If I had a few drinks in me I probably wouldn't have been able to taste how mediocre everything was. Simply put, if I'm paying $26 for pasta and a pizza, I either want it good or big. This was neither.

Our favorite "upper" scale Italian restaurant. While our favorite remains Mama D's, for a quiet night out, Figlio's fits the bill better. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The have maintained the Peasant's Salad from the old Peasant Stock, the former restaurant in this location. The Chicken Picata is a perennial choice and the topper is a Chocolate Mousse to share. 5-6 is happy hour with mini martini's that are sized to keep one from overindulging before dinner. I suggest the Grapefruit vodka version which in other places might be a Salty Dog, in a smaller glass. Not cheap but not overly expensive. We visit often.

Never knew this place was here! Went with the family and we got three pizzas and a pasta dish. Everyone filled up and their were no complaints. The foccacia bread they give you wit herb infused olive oil kept the kiddos happy as the drew on the table paper cloths with crayons. Candlelight setting at night was cozy and I wish more restaurants would dim the lights more for dinner. I had the pear and brie pizza and I will return for this mix of salty and sweet, fresh tasting pizza. So good! Husband had the Linguini bolognese and he really liked! He said her could have eaten seconds! My only complaint was that I had the grapefruit martini and it tasted like it came from a ready made container. I can make a much nicer fresh one at home.

Great food and ambiance. Perfect place for a dinner with friends. Good wine/beer selection. $55 for dinner for two and 3 drinks each. Couldve easily been cheaper though.

Do not order meat or fish with the expectation that it will Not be over cooked. The salmon was very obviously overcooked and because the waitress did not check on the meal it was our fault. . They were sorry but, alas did not offer to re-cook. I would call them food posers.

Ate here while visiting my dad for Thanksgiving. (I grew up in Dayton and often ate at The Peasant Stock in this location.) Excellent California-style pizza. I hope to return on my next visit.

Nice ambiance, modern-rustic decor. Had the corn/seafood chowder along with the bread appetizers, and immediately surprised by the quality of the food. Same with the chicken pizza and the seafood pasta. Tried some of their wines, which (for their price) was good quality, and pared well with the food. For dessert, we tried the cherry pie (in a small mason jar) and the tiramisu. Our waitress was pretty attentive, and we did not have to wait long for our meal. Overall, we will definitely be back again to try different foods.

First of all, Let me say that the food here was really good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the prices were pretty steep for pizza, yes I know It was Brick oven style, but $12 for a mini personal pizza is way too much. I also wish I had known that it was a little nicer than I expected.. I felt grossly under dressed. So If you want a nice intimate cozy date night, and are in the mood for pizza such as pear with Brie and arugula, this place is perfect. Not the place to have a slice on a night you didn't want to cook for you family. Also I was wearing a sundress with flip flops... Next time I will dress a little better and leave the kids at home.

I've always had a good experience here. The food is great; I've had everything from pizza to pasta, the daily specials and seafood dishes, and they are always very good. The salads are delicious, and the soups are generally pretty good too. The wine can be a tad bit expensive, but there's usually a decent special. I've always had good service, they servers tend to chat and show some personality, which I always appreciate. It's good for groups, it's good for a couple on a date, or a girls night - all around, I think you can't really go wrong here.

Very nice atmosphere. Gives off a nice, up-scale Italian dining experience. My friends and I started off with one of their signature wood oven pizzas which was basically an italian meat lovers. It was very good and had alot of flavor. As for the entrees, I did not see too many options on the Menu. It seems as if the only entrees they have are pasta dishes. I asked for the Chicken Marsala and to my surprise i was served a medium sized bowl of pasta with a couple pieces of chicken all in a mushroom and tomato sauce for 14 bucks. Ill admit it was very flavorful, but due to the lack of creativity and weak serving size, I do not plan on going back.

Does anyone remember the Peasant Stock? I've been coming to Dayton Ohio for business since 1989 (crap, that's a long time). The location of Figlio's used to be called Peasant Stock and then it closed. I've very happy to see that Figlio's appears to be thriving here. And it right next to a Trader Joe's! I had the Peasant Salad (a holdover from the old restaurant). After eating it I say we take it off the menu and just try to remember it. However the mushroom and chicken ravioli was very good. They have an extensive wine by the bottle list, but a small by-the-glass list. My colleagues had the wood-fired pizza and cleaned nearly every morsel. I'll put Figlio's on my list of regular stops for the future in Dayton.

Great food and prices! The staff is very knowledgeable of their dishes and wine! And I love there wine selection. It was the first restaurant we ate at when we first moved to Dayton, fell in love with it immediately. After you order you get warm bread basket with olive oil. Drunken Shrimp Pasta is what I order every time, my husband always get their pizza and he would eat a whole pizza by himself! I also ordered desert (which I rarely do) of tiramisu and we ate the whole thing in like 3sec.

This place is super classy and well priced but sadly it's not my type of place. That is to say, the food's great and the selection respectable but it's just not to my taste. So the reason for the good review is that I did enjoy what I ordered (the one thing on the menu that suits my simple taste) and it's a great place to take a date. If I was a refined person this place would have to be a regular visit for me. The wait staff was fast and very helpful, the food came quickly, and my date and I ate for under $30. So all in all, if you need a classy place to go without spending your paycheck, try it out. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

My FAVORITE place to eat in the Dayton area! The staff are great. Everything I've tried there has been delicious, especially the salmon. And, the gorgonzola stuffed olives in the perfect dirty martini are awesome! If not going with a group, i'd recommend sitting in the bar area.

I don't get the hype about this place. I have given it multiple tries and it's just mediocre at best. Hubby and I tried it again last night for restaurant week. I will have to give them some credit for not dumbing down their menu for Restaurant Week like so many of the Dayton places tend to. But a pizza restaurant with no pizza on the special menu? We both tried to figure out why but couldn't. Anyway, we both started with the Peasant Salad. It was bland and loaded with dressing. We tried to add pepper (fresh ground would have been nice here- but NO, not available), but the pepper shaker was completely clogged. Not worth the calories. (I tried to order dressing on the side and was told the salad was pre-dressed). Next course- Salmon Risotto. Hubby liked it, I really disliked it. I would go so far to say that for me, this was a disaster of a dish. One good point, the salmon was cooked well, however, I'm a salmon snob and farm raised bland fish just doesn't get it for me anymore. The risotto was some of the stickiest overcooked I've ever gotten in a restaurant. And the combination of flavors in the dish were really odd. The kalamata olives completely overpowered the dish. On to dessert. Hubby got the white chocolate creme brulee. He liked it. I tasted it- it was just OK. I got the tiramisu. Once again, just OK. Nice sized portion, but it could have used more intense coffee flavor and a stronger cocoa sprinked on top. Can a dessert be bland? Now on to service: service was slow, which it can be during restaurant week, so I give them a little by on that. Plus I kind of enjoy a little time between courses. But server was a bit unattentive. I had to try to get his attention 3 times before I could get another glass of wine. Figlios- please kick up your game. You've got good potential. Atmosphere and location are awesome! (Except for the dead roses hanging from the nails- that's just weird and a little bad feng shui)

Located in a shopping center on the corner of Stroop and Shroyer. Parking can be difficult but I think its worth finding a spot for. We love the atmosphere here. It seems this is an older crowd favorite. I would say the majority are 60 and up but I saw plenty of younger sub thirties too. You walk in the door directly in to their bar area. We usually opt for sitting at the bar but they have a very nice dining room too. When we sit in the dining room I like to get as close to the pizza oven as possible. I like all the action and in cooler months, the heat. They have a decent beer selection. Its mostly bottles but they do have three taps for craft beer. The wine list is nice and they have a full service bar. They must be know for their martinis because I saw many of them being made. They have a great menu. Plenty of Italian entrees and a great selection of wood fired pizzas plus the "make your own" option. Thats my favorite. The pizza is very good. One of the top in Dayton in my opinion. My wife agreed. The pricing is reasonable, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We dont come here as often as we should but we always enjoy ourselves. Its local and I am glad to see it is always busy.

(When I say old, I don't mean the salad was old, the concept is of long standing.) I had crab ravioli and shrimp, and it was perfect in every way. I wanted to lick that sauce off the plate, even used bread (which I usually avoid) to get some of the last of it. This has to be my new crush. This paired so well with a really good Pinot Grigio. Life is good. I should have stopped there, but I had been seeing Chocolate Mousse in martini glasses going by, and since I had already over indulged, I thought why not. I should have gotten a photo of this...served with an orange slice on the glass. Perfectly beautiful! And good. Once again, I wanted to lick that glass. But I managed to restrain myself, and off we went in plenty of time for our show.

I have been to this restaurant many times but never written a review. It dawned on me tonight when I was there that I have never had a bad meal or anything less than great service. I think the pizza is close to the best in Dayton. The crab and corn chowder is the best and amazing and their pasta dishes are great especially the crab ravioli. Great atmosphere, food and service. A well run restaurant with great food!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
