Ok, this place is a chain, but it is awesome. I took off a star because it is a chain and I am against chains on principal. Ok, I had the Caprice and was blown away. The crust was perfect, and the cheese was wonderful, The mix of cheeses, veggies, and meats is mind-blowing at this place - considering it is a chain. Now, the garlic was supposed to be minced but they put whole cloves on the pizza. I thought this was wonderful. Good beers on tap, nice decor, and on the ball service from a very friendly crew. Close to UD, takes credit, open late, and good for families.

A friend of mine recently took me out to lunch at Dewey's. It was my first time there and I have to say I was impressed! I had the most delicious glass of white wine with my salad and pizza. The staff was warm and inviting. I will definitely be back!

not many places are known for good pizza AND good salads. dewey's is that place. +1 for good pizza. atypical pizzas that actually taste great. last night i had the bronx bomber. recommended. +1 for great salad. their house salad is among my favorite salads--ever. highly recommended. +1 for accommodating our group of 10 last evening. ~20 minute wait. no call-ahead seating. +1 for consistently good service. every time i've been there, we've been taken care of. +1 for good location. UD near brown street. +1 for good atmosphere. i don't usually enjoy hanging out at pizza joints. dewey's is an exception. good lighting. appropriate for date nights, if your date likes pizza. +1 for a large window into the pizza making. small kids (and bigs kids, too) can interact with the chefs as they toss the pizzas before your eyes. +1 for offering to split up our checks. +1 for getting all of our bills correct. recommended. i've been there multiple times, and i will return.

I was just there for the first time while visiting Ohio and I had a Calzone and shared a pizza with my niece and her boyfriend and I was very impressed! The salads looked amazing but the best of all was the service they were fast and friendly I would definitely go back

This place rocks. Great salads, never had a bad one. I love the Wild mushroom pizza and now my new favorite - Edgar Allen Poe. I love white pizzas and they have a great selection. I will eat here everytime I come to visit my sister who lives in Dayton. I only wish we had a Dewey's in Chicago.....

Excellent pizza! They have your traditional pizza and white sauce pizza as well. I've also had great service every time I am in there. That is honestly one of the reason I choose Dewey's over other places. Seriously the best pizza in Dayton. Another cool thing they offer that we did this Spring was to take part in Dewey's Pizza school. They take you in the back and let you make whatever pizza you want. They show you how to stretch the dough including tossing it in the air and then let you put whatever toppings you want on it. From there you can either share your pizza on the buffet or take it back to your table for yourself. This was also one of the first times I've tried there salads and they are outstanding!

Pay no attention to Lorde's review. Must have a grudge. Been in Dayton a few months and must say, best salad I've found as of yet. Calzone was tremendous. Love the extensive choices for fillings and toppings. My group had two specialty pizzas and loved both. Crazy busy lunch but still over the top service! I'm a new fan! (My last two residences were Midtown, Atlanta and Hilton Head Island and I've been in the hospitality business for 20+ yrs)

Excellent pizza and beer selection. My favorite is Ryan's Inferno, but I prefer to replace the onions for banana peppers instead. It's always packed, so expect to wait a bit. That's not a bad thing, as this place is in high demand.

Great sauce, great crust! Loved the harvest salad.

I am confused by all the love for Dewey's pizza. All ingredients pretty much come from cans, sauce included. They make a slightly better pizza than most other chains (ala papa johns or domino's) but it is far from being a quality product. The beer selection is pretty good and the concept is a good one, but the pizza is nothing more than mass produced garbage.

I know I'm going to get slammed for this but this pizza is good, the main thing is that the price makes it hard to be come someone who regularly goes back; but then again maybe I am just a poor college student. This place always seems to be packed, so clearly they are doing something right. The pizza crust is good, but sometimes feels overdone by the wide plethora of toppings that Dewys offers. Pretty much anything that you can imagine is available to get on the pizza. I keep coming back for the calzones though, your choice of any three toppings stuffed with ricotta, and mozzarella cheese for 7.95? a great deal, and huge, the size of my head or a large plate to be sure. Dewys also have a great wine and beer selection and a good team service thing going on where you have about a million waiters. It works well but to a point. The kitchen is to small for food to come out in a timely manner when the place is crowded, and I've been here every night of the week and had a short wait to get seated. Great Pizza, but not the best in Dayton as so many here proclaim it to be.

We had Dewey's before in St. Louis and stopped through in Dayton while traveling. This Dewey's was just as delicious as the first. We started with salads which were well prepared and quickly served. The dressing on the Greek salad was a delicious red pepper that was really unique. I love the fact you can get half and half pizza because I'm pretty picky and don't eat cheese. I had the mushroom and he had the Edgar Allen Poe. They were both extremely satisfying with a thin, buttery crust. The toppings were high quality and they definitely didn't skimp on them. I would definitely stop in to this or other Dewey's when wanting a quick and consistently good pizza.

My family loves the location near UD! They have great pizza and salads. But I think its the exceptional customer service that keeps us coming back! The bartender offered a wealth of info on the beers on tap allowing me to sample all I inquired about as we waited to be seated.Keep up the great work

Salads lived up to their reviews here. Harvest salad was fantastic. Veggie pizza was very good. Thin but fluffy crust wasn't greasy or too filling....

  • Stan J.

It was just ok. We had the Edgar Allan Poe and the mushroom pizzas. I was disappointed that they only served pizza and salads. I don't recall the last pizza place that didn't server bread sticks. The wait was 30 minutes and they had tables open the whole time.

So I've never been in Dewey's but my lovely, understanding boyfriend thoughtfully drove and picked up a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza which was the Edgar Allan Poe and the Billy Goat one weekend when I wasn't feeling well. It certainly helped me feel better! I love that at this place, the toppings are the star. It isn't so much about the crust, or the sauce, but rather how everything interplays to create so much flavor. The hunks of garlic were delicious and almost buttery and I found myself picking them off of the remaining slices just to savor them! They were so nice to suggest that they do a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza as the boy and I do have different tastes and we both wanted to get something that we liked (but still have enough to share!) They have them where I live in Columbus but I've never been there. I may have to try them out now.

Food of the gods....they get it right every time!!

My God, this is some of the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. Don't you all know pizza should come on a crust that isn't still halfway raw dough? WTF is up with all the 5 star ratings? This place is gross. The only thing positive I can say is it's in a relatively new and nice building and they have a few decent beers on tap. The other chick was right, your toppings will fall off because raw dough cannot support itself, let alone additional weight. I'd honestly rather eat Domino's, and I haven't had that crap in years.

  • Erika R.

Yes. It's a chain. And No, I don't know about the other stores but THIS Dewey's is freaking awesome. I have dined here at a booth, at the bar, I've gotten carry out. Every time, it was great. I've also had excellent service, excellent salad, excellent pizza and excellent beer. it's 5 star excellent I tells ya. The Don, offered in December is one of our favs!!! Now quit reading this dang review and go get you a slice of heaven from Dewey's!!!

    Okay but not exceptional.

Deweys is a rare gem in the Restaurant Chain spectrum. I typically get the Billy Goat and the pairing of Goat Cheese with Sun-Dried Tomatoes on a perfectly shaped and hand tossed crust that tastes fantastic is hard to beat. Hands down, this is the best pizza in Dayton. The prices are slightly higher than normal pizza places but you get quality ingredients and a nice experience. One of the highlights of my visit with my child was allowing her to go up and watch the pizza dough tossing. The guys in there were awesome! They were tossing flour at the glass that separated them like zoo animals from the watching masses. Good fun!

It's been a few years since I had eated @ Dewey's, but every pie, every salad was first rate. Great staff and a perfect selection of beers on tap. Gotta love the Dr. Dre pizza

    (5)
  • Tomas X.

Really good draft beer selection and unique very very good pizza. Atmosphere not the best, noisy, and too much plastic and glass for my taste. I like to stop in, have a beer, and order my pizza to go.

  • Shannon K.

I tried Dewey's for the first time in Cincinnati by UC where my sister went, and it immediately became my favorite pizza place! I love the white sauve (olive oil and garlic). I have tried all different pizza's there, and I have never been disappointed. I would suggest though eating it at the restaurant, as it can get cold rather quickly when taking it home!

  • Elizabeth R.

Dewey's pizza is great! The Ryan's Inferno is my current favorite, followed closely by the Edgar Allan Poe and the Socrates Revenge (no, I don't remember the names of them all, I had to pull up the menu), and the Wild Mushroom with extra cheese...yeah, you really can't go wrong. Also, they make their pizza's half and half, so if you're sharing with someone, you can still get two types on one pie. It's great for the indecisive types. The salads are also really well done - I can recommend the caesar and the peppercorn ranch. The service is done team style, so while you have a designated server, there is a great chance that numerous people will bring you different items...which is wonderful, because it eliminates waiting for refills and such. It's great for the impatient types, which all beer drinkers are when there is less than a quarter glass of liquid remaining. On that note, the taps have a good selection and they rotate at a minimum of seasonally. There is usually a short wait around dinnertime, and the space is pretty dull, so if your dinner companion is a bore, don't expect to entertain yourself by looking around.

Great Pizza, Good Beer, and Good Salads. Dining Area is kind of boring but the food more than makes up for it. Always take out of town friends here.

Good. Solid. Pizza - basically what you would expect pizza to be. Not surprised it is a chain though. Everyone was very pleasant, attentive, and on the spot when needed. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and a rootbeer ($14) for one. Would eat here again. Sits on Univ of Dayton campus basically.

We love to visit this place when we are in Dayton. The salads are terrific and our favorite pizza is the Ryans Inferno. I wish they took reservations though as it tends to get very crowded.

  • Brian C.

Everything at Dewey's was fantastic, this is now our favorite pizza place in Dayton. While we waited for a seat (not very long), the bar tender went over all of the draught beers in great detail and then explained the menu, excellent customer service! The salad was amazing and super fresh and the pizza was the best I've had outside of Sicily, the crust was second to none. We will be back to Dewey's! Even though this is a chain, it felt like a locally owned eatery, a model for quality and customer service. Thanks for a great experience.

I took a pizza to go this evening. I ate it, but did not experience a profound sense of enjoyment. This is mediocre pizza. If it is the best in Dayton, that is sad.

    (2)
  • Gerri H.

Great pizza! Love the Green Lantern and Billy Goat, but they're all good. Would give 5 stars, except it's a bit pricey for pizza. Best not to go here if you're in a hurry, it can be a bit slow.

  • Conor R.

Insane pizza, quirky drink selection. I am a fan. It all tastes great. I have heard great things about the salads too. Live a little and try something on the wild side. In the UD area? Near Miami Valley Hospital? This is some quality food.

We go to Dewey's probably once or twice a month, and it's always good. They have some great beers, decent wine, and very responsive and proactive service staff. Very fast paced and not necessarily appropriate for a romantic evening, but if you go later it settles down and is relaxing. Very good salads, calzones and pizzas. Very much enjoy. Just an update, stopped by for dinner this past weekend and we noticed this is one of the few places that you really see the manager hustle with the staff. This guy never stopped moving, just kept clearing and resetting tables, it's always nice to see management and staff working as a team in order to provide a great experience for their guests - kudos. Update #2 - just got back from having dinner and had a really great experience with both the manager, Marie, and the server, Josh. The service is always very good, and Josh definitely took great care of us without being intrusive. Always friendly and dependable, there is always someone there when you need them. Further, Marie went above and beyond in making sure our night was pleasant and that we were taken care of. It's places like this, joints that simply serve great food and great service, that put the stuffy and/or chain places to shame. There should be more places like Dewey's. Fantastic.

Great food and great selection of beer. The bartender and wait staff are extremely friendly. Great place, if you are in Dayton and like gourmet pizza, then this is the place to be.

Great pizza. Food in Dayton area generally stinks, especially the pizza. This is far better than anything in the area. However, not sure I would say it is "NY style" as they call it.

dewey's pizza was one of my first culinary experiences upon relocating in the dayton area. my dining companions and i were in the area, and i selected it strictly as an alternative to chipotle, panera, etc in the area. i was initially impressed by the draft beer selection. it was nothing extraordinary, but interesting choices for a pizza joint (think rogue, dogfish, bells). along with the ability to craft your own pizzas, there was an array of custom pies that piqued my interest. after much delay, my group decided to split a 17" ryan's inferno/caprice (the ability to split pies in half is surprising and convenient). dewey's executed perfectly, much to my surprise. ryan's inferno truly was a revelation and tasted like a juicy, saucy buffalo chicken sandwich. service was friendly and attentive. bathrooms were clean. seems like a well-run establishment. some of the best specialty pizza i've had.

  • Tim B.

A wonderful, relaxing ambience...and with beer, wine and pizza...who could ask for more? Well of course we all do... and there is. The Dewey's team has developed what seems to be a one of a kind customer serving process. ALL of the service staff wait on ALL of the customers (and at high speed)...the result is spectacular and responsive service. The menu is simple: great salads, delicious hand-tossed, stone baked pizzas and irresistable desserts. It's like the TV "Cheers" bar where everybody knows your name.

  • Olive D.

I go to Dewey's at least once a month and I have never been disappointed. I love the variety of toppings that you can get and the salads are amazing. I would also like to add that that this restaurant has the best service. They are always friendly and quick.

  • Michael G.

OK so we ordered Deweys Pizza for dinner to night. Let me start by saying I DO NOT like pizza and rarely order it. With that said every flipping place in Dayton is a chain pizza place where they just try to sell you the cheapest pizza possible. Now this place is a bit pricey as far as pizza goes, but let me tell it is worth it. They actually had more ingredients to choose from than pepperoni and sausage which is a relief. All in all they have like 30 toppings. the specialty pizzas are pretty great we created a pizza and we got the mushroom specialty pizza. awesome pizza guys. As you all know I am on a personal journey trying to convince people that we need a food revolution in this city and country. Places like this help pave the way. Now don't get me wrong, they are a chain, but they actually service like an independent place. Put down your crappy 5 buck Little Caesar's pizza and try something good guys.

  • Debbie B.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Dayton. The first thing here worth 5 stars is the service. The second thing worth 5 stars is the beer on tap selection. Always craft beers and priced reasonably. The third thing worth 5 stars are their salads. They are hands down the best salads in Dayton. Why can't more restaurants do this. They are simple, but a great combination of ingredients, on a nice bed of mixed greens, not on pre-bagged iceburg or romain (unless you get the Caesar, but the lettuce is good on that as well.) and homemade dressings. The next thing worth the 5 stars is the pizza. The crust is amazing. The combination of toppings is superb. My favs are the Edgar Allen Poe and Socrates Revenge. I prefer the white pizzas here, the red sauce is a little zingy for me, but my kids love it, so it can't be that spicy. I wish I could give the desserts 5 stars, but I have to admit, I've never tried one; I'm always full of pizza and beer. They do always have a seasonal salad and pizza which is fun. Beer selection rotates as well. This is the place that everyone who comes to visit us from out of town wants to visit first, including my uber-foodie sister from Chicago. I understand Deweys is expanding their presence outside Ohio now, so all you lucky people where it's coming to your city- try Deweys. What more can I say? Love it!

Best pizza in the city. I've been out of the university area for a year now and I really miss this place

    (5)
  • Jason M.

The pizza is good, not exactly what I love in a pizza, but still very tasty. I really enjoyed the beer selection (Rogue and Bell's on tap to name a couple) and the service was outstanding. This place is on my list the next time I return to Dayton.

    (5)
  • Mandy L.

The freshest pizza I have ever eaten. It's a great place to take kids. They can watch the cooks throwing the dough. If you go on a weekend, the wait can be a little long, but it's worth it.

  • Gerry W.

Dewey's is our favorite pizza joint. We love the large Green Lantern...minus the mushrooms but add pepperoni. The crust is crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside. My DOG hates Dewey's pizza because there is never any leftover crust for her. Dewey's salads are worth getting especially in the summer when they have Strawberry Macadamia salad. Their varied beers accompany the experience. The calazones are very good as well.

One of my absolute favorite pizza parlors on the planet! I first went to their Clifton (Cincinnati) location with friends several years back & was too excited for words when they built one in Dayton. The atmosphere is clean & funky with a generous amount of seating in what appears to be a small-ish dining area. The well-stocked bar is another plus & the restaurant carries a nice selection of beer & wine. The salads...oh the salads! I'm not one who normally eats a salad with pizza, but I have to have one everytime I'm at Dewey's! Their house salad is fantastic...spring baby greens tossed in a lovely balsamic vinaigrette that doesn't overwhelm, topped with a sprinke of dried cranberries, crumbled goat cheese and toasted pinenuts. The pizza is phenomenal. The base is a thinner crust that ends in a delicious "puff" of a crust to hold onto. It's light and doesn't detract from the toppings. The varieties of specialty pizzas are vast...and I don't think I've ever "created my own", because I've always found one of the specialties to be exactly what I'm craving. They aren't your typical "deluxe", "pepperoni" or what-have-you style pizzas. The "Greeen Lantern" is always a favorite...topped with artichoke, pesto, mushrooms, goat cheese, garlic, mozzerella & red sauce. Now that "Ryan's Inferno" is a regular specialty pizza (and not just seasonal), we can delight in the buffalo chicken-type pizza year-round! The calzones are perfect for a lunch when pizza just seems too much...but be warned...the calzones are big too! Oh...and yes, they have desserts too. I've heard that they are magnificent, but I've not been able to sample these...I'm always too full from dinner!

I travel a lot for business. A. LOT. And I'm always looking for a great pizza place. Some co-workers recommended Dewey's so I thought I'd give it a try. Set in a little food court-esque location, the first thing I noticed was the line out the door--and HALF WAY DOWN THE BLOCK. Whew! This must be the place. When I finally got seated (which took about 15 minutes--not a bad wait at all), I found that they had a great selection of beer, over 50 pizza toppings to create your own, and the pizza names were hilarious -- like the Bronx Bomber, Socrates' Revenge, & da Billy Goat! I settled on a half-and-half Socrates & Wild Mushroom. DELISH! I'm heading back there every time I'm in the Ohio area.

  • Elizabeth W.

Best calzones in town, hands down. We were here last night-fourth evening eating out due to lack of electricity. Service is always quick and friendly. We split a large house salad-mesclun greens, balsamic vinaigrette, pine nuts and soft goat cheese...mmmm. Then we each ordered calzones. If you love garlic, go with the whole roasted cloves. The best part of the calzone, besides quality dough, is the very creamy ricotta cheese. Dewey's also has the BEST homemade ranch dressing on the planet. This is one of Dayton's best...I'm looking forward to the Kettering location opening!

  • Gil G.

Awesome pizza and great atmosphere for a family (not the typical college place... but not just families either)! Just about the only place I'll go in Dayton for pizza. I bring the family there about 5-10 times a year (for the past few years) and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience there.

  • Tamara N.

Pros: Cool place, clean and comfortable. Great staff - bartender was friendly, helpful, and extremely nice. Cons: the pizza. I was very underwhelmed for the price. No flavor, toppings were good but not great. Probably wouldn't go back next time in Dayton.

  • Dagmar P.

Super tasty pizza. Our favorites are the Meatball, Ryan's Inferno, and just plain cheese. It's a little pricey but worth it. Quality ingredients and great service. It's almost even better the next day, reheated on a pizza stone at 375 for 5 minutes. Mmmm....

    (5)
  • Travis R.

Unbelievable. The quality of ingredients, service, and dishes were excellent and unique. Even the dessert (lemon cake) was perfect. This is tough to beat for high quality pizza.

  • Courtney S.

LOVE THEIR PIZZA! I've been to Dewey's many times and I always leave a happy camper :) Great quality, excellent service, and most important....the food is sooooo freakin good! You can't go wrong with anything you order but I usually go one of two routes: 1. Ryan's Inferno....because how can you say no to ranch drizzle, chicken, buffalo sauce, mozzarella, and gorganzola cheese on a delicious crust??? The answer is, YOU CAN'T! 2. Custom - black olive, ricotta, and feta cheese. All the toppings are really fresh and always yummy. Another must have is their caesar salad. It's pretty much your typical caesar but for some reason theirs just tastes better than most. If you haven't been, go now! You won't want to order delivery ever again!

  • Brian K.

Dewey's is great pizza place that has been around for a few years and I always recommend going when someone suggests pizza. The customization options for pizzas is great you can get 1/2 red sauce 1/3 white sauce if you want. I love the calzones they offer. The options for beer on tap is a great variety. If you are looking for great pizza bead UD try here.

  • Wm H.

Fancy pizza in a mid-western town, sign me up! The variety of pizza is great, if you don't eat meat, then you are in luck, just you will have to decide all the different varieties that are not made with meat. If you like meat, you got plenty to choose from as well. I understand very busy during college time, so expect a wait. Even on a Thursday night in the middle of July it was packed with families and folks. The staff here are top-notch, very helpful and know how to prepare and serve food. Not always the case these days.

My brother and I have been driving from NYC today and we ended up in Dayton so we looked for a decent pizza place to fuel up and get back on the road, Dustin at Dewey s helped us so much by placing our order and expediting it quickly. Not to mention the pies we order ....recommended by Dustin. We excellent We probably will never go back but only because we live in California hahaha . Eat there people it's the bomb

Zè pizza dough is pretty tasty. The menu is fun and different but it's still pizza. I liked the black beans on the BBQ chicken pizza. It was very nice, actually. The crust though. Mmmmmm.

I loved this place so much I chased the owner for two years to get them to come to Dayton. I love everything they make but my favorite is the house salad with the world's best basalmic vinaigrette dressing and the Socrate's Revenge pizza. The staff is top notch and the Chicago city style brownstone architecture is inviting.

  • Libby V.

I don't get here very often...but I love it. In the fall they have a Harvest Salad that is sublime...pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, bacon. The holy grail. And a decent wine list. But while I used to love the pizza, the one I had yesterday was subpar. It was a Caprise...too much garlic, too little sauce. Crust was cardboard. Have they changed it...it used to be the best in town. Now it is pitiful compared to Pies and Pints and others I have had. Still, I would go here for the salad alone. It completes me. And next time I'll try a different pizza.

  • Benjamin B.

Fairly good pizza for a chain. Pleasantly chewy crust, lots of options for toppings. I find that the crust can be a bit limp in the centre on larger sizes, but that's expected. Environment can be noisy, especially because it's a single open room. Fairly good beer list with plenty of craft and local beers on tap. Wait times can be long on the weekends. Salads are oversized. Not a bad option if you're trying to stay in the area... but there are locally owned pizza places not far away that serve better food with superior beer selections.

We visited on a busy weekend with a wait. From the time we walked in everyone was nice. We started to notice that another waitress checked on us, a male brought us our drinks, someone else filled our water, the manager cashed us out. We were deep in conversation and I felt they left alone during that and when conversation lightened up we were appropriately checked on. After asking the manager he said that's how his crew is trained to take care of everyone. I have never seen that before and would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Not only for the fantastic food but for their service and attitude.

On our way from Michigan to Florida and stopped at Dewey's Pizza in Dayton Ohio. They have two great bases for their pizza. Red and an olive oil and garlic. They have great combinations and even make your own. If your passing through and want a great piece of pie definitely make the pit stop.

Hands down the best crust I've ever tasted on a pizza! I love the college town trendy cool atmosphere. The logo and marketing is fantastic. And the choices of pizza....out of this world!! The Buffalo chicken pizza is flat out amazing!! The Billy Goat pizza is very good, but could benefit from black truffle oil drizzled on it, it would make it perfection in a pizza! Spectacular service and phenomenal food will keep us going back again and again! The peppercorn ranch salad is to die for!!

I know people refer to this as a "chain," but when you're not from the Dayton/Cincy area, it really isn't. Yes, they have a few locations, but that does not constitute chain in my eyes. My husband and I moved to Dayton b/c for work about a year and a half ago, but just recently discovered Dewey's. We LOVE it. We have somewhat high standards when it comes to fresh ingredients and unique ideas because we moved from D.C., where the food is just EPIC. The salads at Dewey's are amazing and always fresh. Our favorite pizza so far has been the Titos, which is seasonal, so I am excited to see what is next! High recommend this place!!

For a chain restaurant Dewey's serves up delightful eats made with super fresh ingredients - I think our server even stated they don't have a freezer. The salads are loaded with seasonal veggies and are lightly dressed. The pizzas have a chewy, flavorful crust and don't leave you with that gut bomb feeling. They serve up great craft brews, a rarity to find in Dayton, and a decent wine selection. Service is prompt and the price point for the quality is good. A neighborhood gem in the UD area for sure. Dewey's is the BEST OHIO pizza. It is always busy on weekends, so expect a 10-30 minute wait for prime dinner time. If you want to save a little money, I would go for the Calzone. It comes with three toppings, is the size of a small pizza folded in half, and is under $9. Whereas a small pizza is about $12.50 with a cost for every topping. I get my Calzone without ricotta cheese, and am very generous in dipping it in the sauce. Why is Dewey's the best? The crust, and their Red Sauce. My mom is also a fan of their salads, which they seem to be proud of. I have not tried their desserts, but they are always changing and are brought in from a variety of local bakeries. You will not be dissappointed in their Customer Service! Everyone works as a team and splits their tips at the end of the night. They have a magical code to every drink, and will most likely never ask you what you had, but will always properly refill it. If you happen to have a problem, the management goes above and beyond to make it right.

Superior service, excellent quality and very reasonably priced...what more do you want? Oh yeah, they have a nice beer selection on tap too. I ordered their taco pizza and pesto (half and half) per our waitresses recommendation. She did not steer me wrong. In fact, by the end of the meal my friend jokingly told her that her advice was so good that she could probably sell him a car.

The food is great and the atmosphere is laid back. There is a designated parking lot so you do not need to worry about street parking. Full Bar present.

Good pizza, but not the best. However, the salads were some of the best we have had in ANY restaurant. I had the harvest salad. It had great greens, figs, goat cheese, sunflower seeds...and not over dressed! The staff us super friendly and efficient. Good selection of draft beer. Worth a try.

This place is by far my favorite pizza in greater Dayton. This service was fast and friendly. I had the Bronx bomber specialty pizza and everything tasted so fresh and delicious I will be back. If you are getting there around the dinner hour like 5ish expect a small wait about 10 minutes Max. My wife and I got there about 5 and we're lucky because we got seated right away only about 5 minutes later the place was packed.

I was visiting the area for an interview and went here afterwards. It was awesome that they have the option for 2 different pizza styles on one pizza. Also, I could have mixed the sauce types too (which isn't common, at least where I live). The mushroom pizza was fabulous. The chicken rosemary was also good, but if I got to order from here again, I'd probably reorder the mushroom and try another new option. The crust was amazingly fluffy and light. I have a few places back home in the Bay Area that I love, but I'd have to say that Dewey's was just as great or better. Plus, the service was speedy and the staff was super sweet. I accidentally left something there and didn't notice until I got back to California. ... they're mailing it back to me, and seemed happy to do so. Wow. Talk about great service, and nice people! Ambiance: it seemed like a mix of family, friends and business. If I had a business event going on, I'd feel fine going there. Yet, it was relaxed enough that I felt fine reading a book there on my own. All table seating and they put the pizza on a raised tray in the middle of the table.

This place was a welcome sight on a very rainy night in dayton. We got there kind of late, but service was just fine. After a quick drink order of a couple of beers, we each got a pizza. The pizza was awesome. You can go wrong with any of their pies. I would pass on dessert. I had the carrot cake and it put me in a diabetic coma. It was so sweet my teeth were tingling.

Good pizza but did not live up to all the reviews and 4.5 stars. I had the caprese pizza and it was average. The house salad was very good. Even though I had takeout the service was very good. All in all a good experience but not outstanding

Dewey's has pizza that is great by Dayton standards but just good by anywhere else's (Dayton has HORRIBLE pizza). The Billy goat (but with red sauce) is my fave. However, the salads here are so addictive. I get them constantly to take home and take to work with me. The grape and walnut has become my new favorite, I can eat it by the bucketful. Try them all, they are all delicious.

Loved this place! The beer selection was good enough to where we overdid it at lunch and had to walk around for a while before driving home. We split a house salad to start us off, and it was really good and fresh. We had it with an exceptionally good house-made ranch, which we saved to dip our pizza in. We also got a 13" pizza with half Wild Mushroom and half Socrates' Revenge. The Wild Mushroom pizza was perfect and delicious! Socrates' Revenge was good too, but the olives overpowered a bit, so we would not order it again, or we would have those removed. The crust was really good (great in the ranch!), and the pizzas were fresh and well-made. The service was also very good and attentive (and knowledgeable about the food). Highly recommend this place!

I've heard so much about Dewey's and have always wondered... what's the big deal? Well this pizza was yummy! I had a white pizza with spinach and fresh mozzarella, and the meatball pizza. Both extremely satisfying and flavorful. Service is friendly as well. Definitely a great place to grab a bite with friends.

The best pizza in Dayton Ohio and also the best Caesar salad! I highly recommend making your own pizza.

Unique pies! I've eaten pizza all over this great country of ours, and Dewey's offers something truly unique (especially for a chain!). The style of pie features a yeasty, somewhat sweet crust which begs for salty, savory toppings. The Poe, which features sweet roasted garlic and salty olives, as well as goat cheese for bite and tomatoes and parsley is hands-down one of the most balanced pizzas I've ever had the pleasure of eating. This spot is pricey for college kids, but it hits the spot when you gather a group.

Maybe my family's most favorite pizza place in all of Dayton. Anytime friends come in from out of town and want a casual eatery, we take them to Dewey's and the come away loving it! The pizza is outstanding, calzones are awesome, and solid beers on draft. Service is second to none!

Just OK. I don't really have any complaints. It was sort of like a chain-restaurant experience. Pretty good pizza. Fast service. Price is fair.

This Dewey's was much like those I experience in Cincinnati, but I made a very important discovery at this location-one I will not forget. Actually, the pizza tasted a bit fresher, lighter, fluffier on this occasion (I'd credit that one to being out of town for the weekend). I digress... As I have come to expect, service at Dewey's is largely friendly, quick, and complete. They were quick to seat, greet, and refill our drinks (helpful as I was a bit parched from running around Dayton all day). The meal the significant other and I had was a cap to our weekend before the drive home to Cincinnati. We split a pizza-half Caprice, half BBQ chicken. Simple enough. Done it before. Many times, in fact. This time though, it was different. I had a stroke of brilliance as I substituted the red peppers (I'm allergic to) for whole roasted garlic. I'll admit I order the calzone from time just to eat those huge, roasted, delicious garlic morsels. It had never occurred to me to add them to this delightful pizza. But I did. And it payed off, in bite after delicious bite of BBQ, chicken, garlic goodness. This location is open and conveniently located in the Brown Street area, by the University of Dayton. It opens to a seemingly shared courtyard with Coldstone and two trees were blooming and beautiful as I looked out onto the patio. The experience was what I expect from Dewey's as a chain, but also much more because we were out of town, it was a great spring day, and I discovered a pizza combo I'm never giving up on now! Thanks Dayton Dewey's for the inspiration.

Eat here all the time. Close to work and home. Wonderful pizzas, and my daughter loves it. There are some fun flavors, and although the "vanilla" of pizza, I highly recommend at least doing half cheese on one of them. It's very tasty. My husband loves the Dr. Dre.

This place is perfect for post-move-in sustinence, or any time parents come to visit. Or any time at all, really! It was my parents favorite spot to eat in Dayton that was close to campus, and I was always more than willing to eat there. Birthdays, girls nights, splurge nights (for college-budgets)...I loved everything about Dewey's. The service is team based, so anyone that works there will fill up your drink, take your order, bring your food out, etc. Makes for a quick and enjoyable evening or lunch where you never actually need to ask for anything. As a UD grad, I miss Dewey's a lot!

The Tipintina (sp?) Pizza is a seasonal pizza here and it's the best pizza I can ever remember eating anywhere in my entire life. It had Canadian ham, pepperoni, some very salty ham-like meat which was called something I can't remember, olive oil, banana peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, etc... I haven't had anything else. When the Tipintina went out of season, I asked them to make me one as similar as they could and it wasn't the same, but it was still good. Friendly service, clean and open atmosphere. A must for pizza lovers.

Best pizza ever. We had a party of 12 there last night and not one had a complaint. It was our first time there and all 12 said it was the best pizza we've ever had. The atmosphere is amazing and the service was perfect. We tried the Green Lantern, Bronx Bomber, Southwest BBQ Chicken, and the Seasonal Taco Pizza. Couldn't pick which one we liked best.

I know a pizza place is good when I am willing to drive 35 minutes to get it, instead of waiting 35 min for regular pizza delivery. When ever I am down in the Oakwood/UD area I love to hit this place. Everything I have had at Dewey's is good. I especially like the "Green Lantern" pizza and their house salad that features roasted pine nuts and goat cheese!!!! YUMMM!!! The restaurant itself is also nice. It's new and spacious. The services is also very good. The staff is courteous and unobtrusive, I always feel well taken care of and never even noticed my water being refilled. Dewey's is great. Next time you have a chance give it a go.

Good atmosphere for a pizza place. It's not a pizza joint. It's a pizza restaurant. Good selection of drafts and the menu features tasty combinations of offerings. If you get a salad, it's a little pricey but the atmosphere makes it worth the occassional visit.

I've only been once, so far, but I'll definitely go to Dewey's again. The two of us shared a large salad and I sampled one of their many draft beers. Next time I'm anxious to actually get a pizza as they looked and smelled great. Very good service even though we were just having a snack.

YUMMMM! Just ate here for the first time, and I am in love. My bf and I ordered 2 pizzas. The first was half Dewey's original (cheese), and half extra pepperoni. The other was Southwest BBQ chicken pizza. The cheese and pepperoni were great, but the BBQ chicken knocked my socks off! Dewey's pizza crust is really the best and they don't skimp on the toppings. The service was fast, and they refilled our drinks often. The restaurant was very clean and I liked the simple decor. We got there at about 3:30pm, and didn't have to wait for a table. But by the time we left there was a long wait! I'm really excited to eat here again!

Gourmet Pizza in a fun hip atmosphere, serves alcohol, etc. We had the wild mushroom pizza - it was excellent. The gourmet salads were great as well. I'd prefer a bit quieter restaurant, but those wanted a cool, hip, happening restaurant will like this place. I am probably getting old. none-the-less, I am definitely a fan and intend to go again. This is a local chain, they are soon opening a restaurant in Centerville, and have a location in Newport on the levee.

Great pizza with good crust. Actually, good pizza with great crust! Awesome toppings, exceptional salads, and a nice tap beer selection. Only negative on the pizza is they tend to be a bit oily (not greasy, olive oily -- if there is a difference). Place is a little loud and always crowded, but I guess that goes with being popular. Given the choice, I will go with Spinoza (plus up for atmosphere, pizza, and beer) but I have zero issues when the gang wants Dewey's.

Good.

Great pizza! Love the Green Lantern and Billy Goat, but they're all good. Would give 5 stars, except it's a bit pricey for pizza. Best not to go here if you're in a hurry, it can be a bit slow.

Fantastic.

dewey's pizza was one of my first culinary experiences upon relocating in the dayton area. my dining companions and i were in the area, and i selected it strictly as an alternative to chipotle, panera, etc in the area. i was initially impressed by the draft beer selection. it was nothing extraordinary, but interesting choices for a pizza joint (think rogue, dogfish, bells). along with the ability to craft your own pizzas, there was an array of custom pies that piqued my interest. after much delay, my group decided to split a 17" ryan's inferno/caprice (the ability to split pies in half is surprising and convenient). dewey's executed perfectly, much to my surprise. ryan's inferno truly was a revelation and tasted like a juicy, saucy buffalo chicken sandwich. service was friendly and attentive. bathrooms were clean. seems like a well-run establishment. some of the best specialty pizza i've had.

I go to Dewey's at least once a month and I have never been disappointed. I love the variety of toppings that you can get and the salads are amazing. I would also like to add that that this restaurant has the best service. They are always friendly and quick.

Love it!

The pizza is good, not exactly what I love in a pizza, but still very tasty. I really enjoyed the beer selection (Rogue and Bell's on tap to name a couple) and the service was outstanding. This place is on my list the next time I return to Dayton.

  • Mandy L.

The freshest pizza I have ever eaten. It's a great place to take kids. They can watch the cooks throwing the dough. If you go on a weekend, the wait can be a little long, but it's worth it.

Awesome pizza and great atmosphere for a family (not the typical college place... but not just families either)! Just about the only place I'll go in Dayton for pizza. I bring the family there about 5-10 times a year (for the past few years) and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience there.

  • Michael B.

Excellent pizza and beer selection. My favorite is Ryan's Inferno, but I prefer to replace the onions for banana peppers instead. It's always packed, so expect to wait a bit. That's not a bad thing, as this place is in high demand.

  • Lorde E.

  • Brian D.

  • Amy S.

Good fun!

Pros: Cool place, clean and comfortable. Great staff - bartender was friendly, helpful, and extremely nice. Cons: the pizza. I was very underwhelmed for the price. No flavor, toppings were good but not great. Probably wouldn't go back next time in Dayton.

Super tasty pizza. Our favorites are the Meatball, Ryan's Inferno, and just plain cheese. It's a little pricey but worth it. Quality ingredients and great service. It's almost even better the next day, reheated on a pizza stone at 375 for 5 minutes. Mmmm....

Unbelievable. The quality of ingredients, service, and dishes were excellent and unique. Even the dessert (lemon cake) was perfect. This is tough to beat for high quality pizza.
